- (singing along) βͺ Dance, dance βͺ - Yes! This song. - (singing along) βͺ Light 'em up, up, up βͺ βͺ I'm on fire! βͺ βͺ (industrial music) βͺ - (FBE) So today we're gonna
be showing you a selection of popular songs from a band, starting with their newest video
that released recently. - Yes! Okay, I'm ready. - Okay. Let's see who it is. - βͺ We've gone way too fast
for way too long βͺ - Who's this? - Is this Fall Out Boy? - Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Oh my gosh. I love Fall Out Boy so much! - βͺ And we were never... βͺ - Oh my gosh! She has llama parents. - Where the Wild Things Are Part 2? - βͺ Half this far βͺ
- This voice sounds familiar though. - Okay, this song doesn't
sound familiar in the slightest. But this band sounds super familiar. - βͺ I woke up in my shoes again βͺ βͺ But somewhere you exist singing βͺ βͺ Oops, I did it again βͺ - Is this a Britney Spears cover? - (singing along) βͺ I forgot
what I was losing my mind βͺ - βͺ About, I only... βͺ - It sounds like Fall Out Boy,
but I can be completely wrong. - Fall Out Boy? Fall Out Boy?! It's Fall Out Boy?! Let's go! - Is it Fall Out Boy? I recognized that pitch voice. - βͺ ...and a menace βͺ βͺ (beat dropping) βͺ - It's a good song. It's like rock and electronic. - Oh gosh, this is so good. - It's so different from their old stuff! - This song, it's different.
But I love it so much. - So the monsters are the parents? βͺ (drum solo) βͺ - βͺ Fall βͺ βͺ (thrashing EDM) βͺ - Oh, they're so good. They're so good. - This is a really cool video too. βͺ (high-pitched remixed vocals) βͺ - Wow. Well, this video's powerful. - βͺ We've gone βͺ - (singing along) βͺ Way too fast
for way too long βͺ (sighs) So good. Oh, so good. - Now I'm excited for their new music. - I just got very
sentimental by the video. It got to me. - (FBE) So that was the video
for the newest single from the band Fall Out Boy.
- Really? Oh, okay, yeah. I recognized the voice. - Shit. What? Wha-- that's Fall Out Boy? - Fall Out Boy? What? I'm surprised that they had
an electronic little thing going on. - It's definitely different
from the stuff that I heard from them back in 2007 and 2008. - (FBE) So now we have some
of their older stuff to show you. - Give me some old-school Fall Out Boy. - Yes, going back to middle school. - βͺ You need him βͺ βͺ I could be him βͺ - Aw. The [bleep]-- the memories, dude. - (gasps) Aw, my baby emos. - Wow, man. This brings back
being in middle school and elementary school. - This sounds more like Fall Out Boy. - Look at this music video
compared to the last one. - Holy shit. That's, like, a 180 compared to what we just listened to. - βͺ You were the last good thing
about this part of town βͺ - God, I love it. I love it.
They're so good. That right-- see? Pop punk music.
That's what I'm talking about. - I'm not like a big stan of them. But I do remember some of the songs. - It's not a band that I'm like, "Oh, I know everything about 'em.
I'm a true Fall Out Boy fan." It's like, "I like their music.
I'll listen to it and be happy." - Aw. Brings back my little
scene kid memories. - βͺ Am I more than
you bargained for yet? βͺ - Everyone knows this song.
This is classic Fall Out Boy. - (singing along) βͺ I've been dying
to tell you everything βͺ - This was like my jam in sixth grade. - It's bringing back
a lot of good nostalgia. - βͺ Drop a heart βͺ - (quietly singing along) βͺ Break a name βͺ - I used to have the biggest
crush on Pete Wentz. - βͺ ...for the wrong team βͺ βͺ We're going down,
down in an earlier round βͺ - (singing along) βͺ And, sugar,
we're going down swinging βͺ - Oh-ho! This is so good! - (singing along) βͺ I'll be
your number one with a bullet βͺ βͺ A loaded God complex,
cock it and pull it βͺ βͺ (imitates guitar riff) βͺ - That's just a classic.
It'll never get old. - All right, this better be
"Dance, Dance." - βͺ Tonight it's, "It can't
get much worse" βͺ - Oh. But dude, this song?
- βͺ "...ever feel like..." βͺ βͺ I'm two quarters and a heart... βͺ - This is my song. This is my song! - Yeah, this one too! I didn't realize that
all these were Fall Out Boy. - (singing along) βͺ I'm two
quarters and a heart down βͺ βͺ I don't want to forget
how your voice sounds βͺ - I would never think as a kid
I'd be reacting to this video for, like, millions of people
to watch in the future. Wow, this is crazy. - (singing along) βͺ Dance, dance βͺ - βͺ We're falling apart... βͺ - I wish my prom was that lit. - βͺ Dance, dance βͺ βͺ And these are the... βͺ
- I love this music video. - βͺ (humming along) βͺ - βͺ If they knew how misery loved me βͺ - That drumbeat. (imitates up-tempo drums) - It's like the epitome of
my middle school experience. - They should make more music
like this. I like their old songs. - βͺ As long as the room keeps singing βͺ βͺ That's just the business I'm in βͺ - This was the profile song
on everyone's MySpace. - βͺ ...goddamned arms race βͺ βͺ I'm not a shoulder to βͺ - (singing along) βͺ Cry on βͺ βͺ But I digress βͺ βͺ (beat picks up) βͺ - βͺ I'm a leading man βͺ - Look at that, dude!
I wish they still did that! - βͺ ...are oh so intricate βͺ
- (chuckles) - βͺ Oh so intricate βͺ βͺ Yeah βͺ - Yeah. They rock. They rock. - I like the concept of, even
when they're not performing live, they're just in a tiny studio recording. They're still doing the moves
and flipping over each other. - This is the music that a lot of girls apply their really dark mascara to. It's so nostalgic. - βͺ And I want these words
to make things right, but it's... βͺ - Oh my god. I haven't seen
this in such a long time. - Yes. The monkey. - I love the animals
in their music videos. - βͺ ...back to the keys βͺ βͺ One night and βͺ
- (singing along) βͺ One more time βͺ βͺ Thanks for the memories βͺ - βͺ Even though they weren't so great βͺ - (singing along) βͺ "He tastes
like you but sweeter" βͺ - Oh my god! Look at Pete. Look at Pete. Oh my gosh. - βͺ Yeah, and one more time βͺ - Why are they just so amazing? - βͺ ...the memories, thanks for the... βͺ - Famous sideburns down to here. - βͺ "...tastes like you only sweeter" βͺ βͺ Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh βͺ - I did not know this was them! I didn't know I was
such a Fall Out Boy fan! - Remember how you could
set a status on AIM? My status at one point was,
"Thnks fr th Mmrs," but the way they spelled it. No vowels. - βͺ Oh, whoa, oh, oh, whoa βͺ - Yes! This song! - I feel like this was a little newer than the "Dance, Dance" stuff. - This is like the line, where it's like they started
becoming more poppy-mainstream. But this is still a really
good song and a great album. - (singing along) βͺ Be careful
making wishes in the dark, dark βͺ - βͺ Can't be sure when
they've hit their mark βͺ βͺ I just gotta get you off... βͺ - Wait, is that 2 Chainz? - Is that 2 Chainz? - This is like one of my favorite albums. - You can kind of tell they're maturing
more and more and more. - βͺ (humming along) βͺ (singing along) βͺ Light 'em up, up, up βͺ βͺ Light 'em up, up, up βͺ - (singing along) βͺ Light 'em up, up, up βͺ βͺ I'm on fire βͺ - βͺ So light 'em up, up, up βͺ - I don't know how he does it.
He does it live too. That's the crazy part. - βͺ ...up, up, up βͺ βͺ I'm on fire βͺ βͺ Oh, whoa, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh, whoa βͺ βͺ Oh, oh, whoa βͺ βͺ In the dark, dark βͺ - Well, see, I feel like this song
is different, you know, compared to their early, early ones. So I feel like they've changed a lot. - Even in the early 2000s,
they were kinda like the '90s band with the '90s mentality
and that kinda like the floppy hair. And they were just
playing guitar and having fun. And then this is when they
more became a mid-2000s band. - βͺ Come on, come on, and let me in βͺ βͺ The bruises on your thighs
like my fingerprints βͺ βͺ And this is supposed to match βͺ βͺ The darkness that you felt βͺ - This was such a good music video. - Their music videos
have gotten so cinematic. - (singing along) βͺ Du du du-du βͺ βͺ Du du du-du, du du du-du βͺ - βͺ Some legends are told βͺ βͺ Some turn to dust or... βͺ
- This song's a classic. - βͺ But you will βͺ
- (singing along) βͺ Remember me βͺ - (singing along) βͺ Remember
me for centuries βͺ - (singing along) βͺ He-e-e-ey ya βͺ βͺ He-e-e-ey βͺ - βͺ We'll go down in history βͺ - (singing along) βͺ Remember
me for centuries βͺ That's tight. I'll [bleep] with that. - I feel like I'm smiling a lot.
It's just 'cause I love them. - His voice is so unique,
so you can notice it. But they just add so many
different types of music and sounds to it that it just, like-- I don't know. It changes it
entirely. But it's all good. - I love that their sound has
stayed so consistent over time. But it's still very modern
and current with what's popping now. - I'm a fan of their newer stuff still. I'm not one of those people that's like, "Oh, they suck now 'cause
their music isn't the same as when they were 20." It's like, mm, music is music. - You can ask someone who was
12 when they listened to them and they're 21 now and ask them
if they enjoy Fall Out Boy, and the answer's probably yes. - (FBE) Fall Out Boy has
had a massive following for over a decade now.
- Me included, yes. - (FBE) What do you think about how their music has grown over time?
- It's changed. Especially now hearing
that new track, that new single, it's so different. - Although they've stayed consistent, they're definitely
keeping up with the time. But they're still not compromising
the sound of Fall Out Boy, which I totally respect. - A lot of people say, "I don't
like modern Fall Out Boy because it's not pop punk." But every band goes through
evolutions, you know? And so if you're a true fan, you're gonna support whatever
they come out with, you know? And you're gonna see the beauty in it. - (FBE) So for you, as a big fan, can you talk about
why you love Fall Out Boy? - It brings people together.
Music brings people together. Like, just the lyrics itself,
it's just inspiring. And it also motivates people,
and it gets them pumped up. - Whenever I'm just feeling down,
I just listen to their music. And it just picks me right back up again. There's one song for every emotion
I feel like that I'm feeling. - They're just an icon of our
childhood, especially mine, like just with my friends too.
Like, we were always-- It was always on somewhere. - They just remind me of,
like, just middle school. Those bands that were with you and for some reason
put you in a good mood. - I didn't really become a true emo kid until halfway through high school. Um, and it really helped me feel connected, and same
with Panic! at the Disco. Same with Green Day, you know? All these different bands
just connected broken kids. - As a kid, I feel like
I've really resonated with Patrick the most, because I was like the little
chubby kid, too, growing up. He's the lead vocalist for this
sick band, like really cool band. Like, "I can do some cool shit,
too, when I'm older." - (FBE) So the group went
on hiatus back in 2010, and many fans were devastated. But they're back now and releasing albums, including one titled "Mania,"
that's coming out later this year. - Yes, I'm excited.
Put it on my Hanukkah list. - (FBE) Are you excited for that album? - Yeah. I'm, like-- I feel like I'm a newly born
Fall Out Boy fan. - Hell yeah, I am. Just from listening to what
I've heard so far, I like it. You know? And I'm excited to see
what other songs that they have. - I don't think I've ever sat down and listened to an entire
Fall Out Boy album. But I'm definitely gonna
hear these songs and be happy and relate to some of them and be like, "Yep, Fall Out Boy's still around." And I'll be happy in that knowledge. - I already pre-ordered it
the day it came out, and I already got my
concert tickets for that tour. So I'm kinda like excited
just a little bit. Anyone can enjoy it. I mean, even my mom,
when I make her listen to it, she enjoys it. My nephew, they had
their songs in Big Hero 6. He was singing "Immortals,"
and it made me so happy. - Thanks for watching this episode
of College Kids React. - We have new episodes almost every day. So to see more, subscribe. - If you like what you saw,
then light up that Like button. - Bye, guys. Thanks for watching. - Hey, guys. It's Ethan here from FBE. Thank you so much for watching this episode of College Kids React. And we know that we still haven't covered your favorite band on the show yet, so you gotta let us know
what it is in the comments so we can cover it.
"I had the biggest crush on Pete Wentz" cracked me up
I like how everyone is like "yeah this was my jam in middle/high school" and I'm like "Yup, two years off of college and the music will be the one familiar thing that I can bring with me to college"
Sadly, they totally skipped Folie a Deux. :(
Wow, I'm genuinely surprised that millenials in college had such positive remarks on FOB.
Also genuinely confused by the girl 4:28 who had no idea Dance, Dance was by FOB.
Just feeling nostalgic, old as hell (FOB was high school for me), and confused right now.
Omg ya'll, watching this and seeing the video for Grand Theft Autumn made me so emotional. These kids had no idea what was in store for them in the next 15 years. I got teared up because all that raw talent and energy took them to places I bet they never dreamed of. Some one hand me a tissue
No one mentioned the bass line in Dance, Dance, kinda disappointed.
You know you're a FOB Snob when you cringe everytime one of them says something incorrect/cliche.
Also did anyone catch that the ticker at the bottom said Brendon was one of the llamas in the y&m video? He definitely just did that for a separate teaser video.
haha i was just thinking shut up so i can sing along
I think pink hoodie + denim vest girl is my favorite.
Was waiting for them to show the now infamous TFTM cameo.
