maybe we'll just have a coffee yep bring iton like a rock today I'm making today could you and I be looking bastard aren't you does this remind you at all of Birmingham what it was like out of English as we English England's like really change I'm aware where I come from Birmingham I haven't been there for years are now living near London well the three black said you joined black Senate but they all weather or makes from home from burning yeah we all will come we all come from dust Birmingham is an industrial town it's got its like factories and I tell my father working in fact all our fathers worked in factories well I went to school with Tony I was in a band with geezer bill within a band new Tony and we like a small community economy thing and we just eventually ended up together Anna it was kinda like Earth in those ain't of instant overnight success cuz you know I mean I remember I never achieved anything it's school academically and I got a record contract and I write a record now I was really proud to play an LP arms place in my mum and then you can imagine my mother with me playing my first Black Sabbath albums ammonal week starts up with bells chiming and howls howling balls in the background so it's better with Madison but it just took off and I've never looked back says did you realize that the banner created what was quite a new sound for English music because the band's it would be then like like ten years after Jethro Tull we started playing that kind of music you know when we still remember when we started playing music we play it for Jethro Tull 10 years out and we just we decided wouldn't it be a good idea to incorporate like a horror horror theme to music and it's developed like purely because we the reversal place where when we rehearsing was a crossroad from a movie house we and we just looked it up a line of people waiting to go into cities horror movie we thought it funny that people pay money together gets get the pants scared of I mean so yeah wouldn't why don't we trying to die put that kind of a thing to music and just develop from there early did happen in America pretty quickly like you know I just straight away right away I mean I went when we wrote sure things like war pigs when the Vietnam War was going on we didn't have a clue what it was but if the connotations were to the Americans because like America was like a million miles away to us you know and I remember when I first were the first hole into America I was like standing of the reaction it was just literally overnight success you know and it was as if it was meant to be you know and then and then after the Sabbath thing uh I got a sort of my separation from Sabbath I thought it was all over Foreman I thought you know I was a problem tenant back in a factory in Birmingham why did they kick you out of the bed well oh that's a good question Murphy about things I wanted to kick somebody else an economic we were all so drunk I could only mentioned the word other you know how'd you feel when you did get them I was very upset I was very hurt because we'd been to a lot of them a lot of ups and downs together we'd been ripped up by managers we've been screwed and we were just like a bunch of kids drunk all the time you know so we never really got wind we were never really business minded we never know where the accounts were what accountants were what lawyers meant what documents tax pain or any of that we're screwed this is felis drugs and alcohol you know and uh we're just making music and I never will never were never told the pocket you never taught a full extent of our popularity you know we the trolley brand you if you did this gig in realms and I would make is this and then we go on and we buy a car and whatever you know I mean and I always remember one day I'll come out of Heathrow Airport and one on the road who gets in a Lamborghini and my wife picks me up in her was a Volkswagen I'll Sonny scratched my head in the foot it's still wrong here you know tell me about 1979 when you'd got kicked out of Black Sabbath and the lady called Sharon Arden came into your life well she will Sharon Arden and her father were managing Black Sabbath them and when I got fired from black seller that I thought I was going to get the boot back to England and to my astonishment Sharon come around to my challenge said that they've got rid of like Sabbath no one had to keep me I don't always love flab against it and then I fell in love now then we started to look for a banner found Randy Rhoads and I found Bob Daisley who's Australian and we started writing songs family cuz I'm recording the two first two Psalms verse Lisa more time and it just when I forget I forget all of it I've successfully Black Sabbath one time and then to go again on my own ego it's like it's never gonna end you know I die I just told you Lord you know listen the first Ozzy Osbourne band included Randy Rhoads so you mentioned before and he was unknown before he joined you're better made a tremendous impact just tell me a bit about Randy Rhoads um one of my Optum after living Black Sabbath I've never ever auditioned anyway my lover and because Sabbath just phoned we remind Sammy Assad and I didn't know how to go about auditioning Sharon Wood said to me turn up at so-and-so me gonna listen to a bunch of guys playing huh I'd be all embarrassed saying I like this I don't even know what I'm listening for you huh and I met his bloke you see it is kion introduced me to Randy Rhoads disguises you've got to hear this guy plays these guys amazing you know so us in my apartment after after leaving Black Sabbath I just locked myself away for three months in there in his apartment just getting drunk every day and I was absolutely smashed one night and it's just the door knocks about 11 I [ __ ] and this guy standing there with his little freyal blond-haired kid and literally it was like a hundred and two pounds wet you know this guy and Annie coming in and I first thought he was a woofster first they were you know look it up so family we had long fingernails and all this so so like I'll going down and hearing playas I was absolutely drunk with him monthly you know all right I hear this guy playing these botanical Ambler I shut up and I thought am i authorized Ellucian atheism is what his goes plan I was Kenny you know mumbled something to the effect of Kenna can you come round tomorrow and I just happened like Danno and I flew back to England I said to Sharon's father who is still involved with this then you got a huge plane he's now how we'll find one here meanwhile Sharon came from America and I said to Sharon please get me this guy and Sharon went back be like Brandi when he came to him and they live with me in my house Fred we lived together for about a year in mind right and some you had a great rapport with him as a song oh yeah the guy was that the guys I don't know it's really funny in them my wife and I were watching a thing on the TV and that Marc Bolan of a short while ago a documentary on him and my wife said he isn't it punished as you know it is a guy here marc bolan you know that he wouldn't live to be an old man and I said to Sharon that's exactly the way I felt about Randy it's really funny that a funny feeling came re always remember feeling that one of the very first measure after what this guy's gonna end gonna be around for a long time we for you I see I don't I don't know what made me think that or anything have you ever gotten a visa plane crash that killed every year we send a wreath I just recently went to see his mother they now make you and I making a tomb for him his own tomb and the sickest thing about it all he's on his but he's in like a family term at the moment people could go and stealing the plaque you know and writing like Ozzie ruled all over the place because kind of sick and I'm what I'm playing on doing is doing a benefit concert and donating summer in some of the proceeds to the more real thing for it's wonderful um because it was a very special going on and I feel that you know God puts us on these to do some things and we all meet for a purpose and he was one of the people that passed through my life that will remain me my in my heart forever now about this time you were getting pressed for more than just your music do you mop up your mind tell me about the doves and the record company ah God oh alright well I thought I hope I hire I've had a reputation for the occasional temple no okay you know I was quite partial to the occasional VAT of alcohol and this one particular day Shona said yet we are to go and see CBS records in last I've been underfunded piss all night long you know so I got this bottle of Cavazos what I want you to do or if it go in and throw these two doves up in the air they're all these boards of directors over their suits these you know smaller houses drunk as a monkey through one up in the air and bit the head off the other one through on the table night and like dad you said ladies banned me from the building and it's only in the last three years ever lied me back in the building did anybody applaud no they were like I mean the one the ones that they took somebody took a photograph and the one chick was our house Sherri she insisted that they blotted out her face you know to what I need to do now what about when you got very close to the bat just tell me Ben that was so it we are we took a always wanted to do like I said I like I like sick human I like sick kind of things like that off-the-wall things you know telling he's funny you know and a bit of Rage I always like custard pie fights you know tougher always I took the diary of a madman to write on the road no and a boat on the answered bring your own meat and we'll have a meat fight at the show log so well I'd throw buckets of me out of there and that's her like a few steaks at first but then as the two is progressing like things were coming on these days up from other planets like you know I'm dead dogs and all kinds of things occurring on stage and it's one night and amongst I would often throw like rubber ducks and you know chickens and this bad thing lolani understood I thought it was a one of them brother things I got I pick this thing up I bit into it and I look on the side of the Saudis Sharon's got chant described oh shoot well then it was rushed ran to a hospital and uh and if for anyone who watches you suffer I don't advise anyone to bite into a bat because that they are one of the world's the biggest carriers of rabies now if you if you've ever had the misfortune of loving rabies shots you'll know what I'm talking about because I they ain't very comfortable so having a tattoo with a road drill you know now things a little more seriously were happening to in as much as some of your shows were being picketed yeah they still are they still I was about eighty one and first amended owner suddenly decided like I was the Antichrist or something I mean I've gotta be honest we created it as much as it created itself and Snowboard we do we do do like to provoke along the way purely because of my drunkenness I mean I get crazy drunk like dive through windows my own you know I was just mad yeah I know it's just you know just doing crazy things like disappearing and I got arrested in I go on tell us that one not gonna waste and we're always always I got one one morning in sin on San Antonio got dressed in one of my wife's evening dresses with a Butler Corps was a again and took a piss up the Alamo walk we're gonna got arrested and it didn't go down and so well you know because that the Alamo is like a National Shrine in I seem to remember the policemen saying to me well what what what would you do if I would see you and I to Buckingham Palace and I said to be truthful with him all night I don't give a damn oh I don't live there when there was a picket on one didn't you actually disguise yourself that's what I think it is - say what I was going on yeah I know a band is did put the devil behind you and all these are Gotti's and they didn't even know I was you know started walking down with these gloves they were also death threats weren't it to get ourselves America there was there was one in Washington at one time when you I always not unknown there because everybody's like all panicking rushing around and quiet you know all the crew off so I'll go to this one gig owner just something I'm ready to go instead and this police there's police everywhere and it's the right the two manager comes down and he said down I got something to tell you I gotta introduce Chief of Police silencer sounds oh and this cop comes in and he says well that a very good from a very good source oh you got it someone's going to take a shot at you tonight what do you want to do cancel the showers now so I'll just run around a bit quicker you know Miss Ellie I mean uh I'd already bother me because it's I think if someone's actually gonna take take that I've gotta say I'm gonna shoot you they're gonna go it's gonna go bang you know and I'm gonna know about it anyway hopefully al can we order two more coffees but I'll tell you guys I'm gonna trust for the gun now when right now in 1987 the parent tried to claim that your song suicide solution was responsible than his child committing suicide actually took you to court there's a father of three young children yourself how do you handle such accusations well when he when when the noon news first got me I thought it was a joke I heard he was in England and then I flew to Los Angeles and as I'm getting up the plans about 900 cameras flashing no no I'm Tom to ion thing I'm looking over my shoulder thinking I'm walking in front of so many likely Elizabeth Tyler or something you know I had not clearly it it got so big so I uh I mean I couldn't believe it you know that anyone would even think that that you know you'd make me sell someone with like a record for someone to kill themselves so you know what it's a lot about you know it's a lot of baloneys when in actual fact the song was written about Bon Scott from ac/dc who so tragically died from hypothermia caught in caused from the heavy not on the booze and he fell asleep in the car and prose to death and uh that was the intention to someone and that kicks up a whole whole new ballgame when I was getting sued by all kinds of different people and nothing is about seven seven lawsuits that long the song is an 80 suicide song oh yeah about help that danger of alcohol I mean I mean and uh I'm um were working a well aware of that because I've been fighting the problem for years you know we're not I can't I can't have a drink but I'm going for a drink oh I swim back home about a week later you know like shaking and trembling sweating I mean 85 you also played at Live Aid and a Black Sabbath reunion we're comfortable playing with your our mates again he was just collecting shows it was kind of nice but you know nice but not nice you know because I mean at the end of the gig toenail he didn't even have the courtesy to say goodbye he just disappeared time he didn't we did it and that what about 1989 when you played at Lenin the stadium in mice crammed with fun Jerry's motley crue that was great that was great one of the one of the highlights of my career in the respect that I always had a desire to go to Russia just to see you know okay I always want to go always want to do things that I can't do I'm not allowed to do you know yeah I always liked drinking beer after hours you know he's breaking the laws and all that and Russia was like a closed - and always wanted to go to Russia and Turkey - to not only go to Russia but to play my music so Russia not only that than to go into a stage in front of 85,000 people with a bit about five five thousand banners of saying Ozzy Osbourne with like blasting you mean something of a mentor to be and say like rap Motley Crue Metallica who you took on the road with you as support action are virtually unknown you must have a sense of pride in how well those bands are doing they're not so much of a sense of pride they would have done it anyway without me I mean I mean Molly crew will love it done that's how any of us survived it to her that Motley Crue job god only knows because we must have titanium livers you know because the they were drinking like maniacs we were drinking like maniacs and at the end of that tour all of US and European dinner rehabs alcoholic react because we're so messed up that's when like the first Betty Ford thing happened for me I don't doubt they've got their act together and explained what about Metallica I believe you thought you each I didn't like you very much so he's really funny with Metallica because that their their music was kind of a similarity to early black soul but played it like ninety miles an hour you know so and every song would walk walk that clock down the ramp to the gig you know that's seemly and that log sort of turn the other way you know you all would never talk to me or any I kept hearing playing this old Black Sabbath stuff and I said to that that sermon is you one night I see are these guys pissed oh you know do they know what's in must be these like this no I think I think you are great you know and all this and at the end of the two of their manager I think cliff burns Tony's nominees accounts missing would it be possible for Karen stays you and play perilous yeah come up you know and like I'm on that plane parent I turn onion you've never seen grins on people's faces I go from here severe plane you know we're off they're jamming everybody right well I just a bit scared to approach you initially oh maybe so I don't know I I just thought it was odd because I always tell my friends with you know you know you're living together for the all in months you know but that was glower kind of very laid-back in something else that you've achieved too is that in the bands that you've had since Black Sabbath you've introduced Randy Rhoads JK Lou has now got his own band Badlands and Zakk Wylde three unknown guitar players who are all recognized now as being through the best players in the world on their instrument why didn't you go for a more established player when you were putting your bands together why give three unknowns well I guess because I think if you've got someone who's already got a name so there's no fight that it's likely so a like I said to you earlier I'm not coming down rather than go for Mike Tyson I'd rather go for the guy that wants to knock Mike Tyson out you know she's got the aggression and that's what I went for over the guy that wanted to be the greater and if you if you want nut you know if you want something bad enough you'll do that little bit extra to get it you know rather than if you already got to get up there you're cool Ian you were telling us about Randy rides how he was such a freyal little bloke when you first met he was he was a very funny guy at the same time and he wasn't even here he was he was a musician more than a rock'n'roll it was it didn't get crazy drunken take drugs right is that wild anything like radio nothing like nothing like impasse or well nothing like human tell opposites when Zach was like he's like whiskeys but flying around and ball over the place you mighta been working with other musician John a Gary Moore our here's Cooper's new record room he released that do it with Lita Ford close my eyes forever you enjoying working outside of the only high school yeah the lives of 40 I I had this the son I was able to build water Sunday and I said I songs and I got this idea right sample closed minds forever Nisha Nisha tree that's a great idea so I'm a small wife Sharon that at that time we was managing later and I said later what just happen one day I've got a song if you're interested you know you want to work with me cool close my eyes forever she says sure maybe later so I flew back to him England and then I got a phone call from show Lisa wants to do this song with you honestly I'm in England I said I'm not going back so he of his big fight on the phone anyway I'm back in Los Angeles on I'll ride the Sun with her I fly back and she says she wants you to sing it with her eyes you jokey so I've got to fly back again so I flew back in this it was quickly as I a walk in sang my lines and I water and I find it really strange that would have been me do enough for me I'd have been side I've been there all day and all night and yet assignment exactly the same thing with Garry Moore you know lead clone he gave me the lines what walks in sang it and went home and it's I think the thing is that when you do for yourself you're more emotionally involved and yet when you do look for somebody else you don't give a damn because if it's a hit or a miss you don't care and I tell you a song you know who would you like to work with if you had the choice of anybody I'd love to do a song somewhere with McCartney one day be a big Beatles fan absolutely they doored them same I've seen him but I'm nervous bad the opportunity to speak to him I can be an interesting collaboration couldn't could via could you're spoken a lot about Tom Sharon Arden or Sharon Osbourne John Osborne just what does she meant to your career well they say you know behind every great man is a great woman I think that's that's true in this case in my wife because truly without my wife at my side I wouldn't be here with that without any doubts and she said maybe it would be here I wouldn't be alive I wouldn't I wouldn't be singing only now she said my love every day every day every day she saved my life she only showed me the crap that I put her through you know when I was abusing myself when I disappear for weeks I earned and I got smack her in the eye and I do all these horrible things you stuck by me she got me through all kinds of stuff and she's she's still there we've got three beautiful children I love love and I'm coming through it through it you know I mean I think about it better about a relationship is or a marriage it's a rocky road you know everyone has its ups and downs don't give up because we're now are getting getting closer now after all after all all we've been through you know I mean the other crisis a couple of years ago and I ended up in jail because I was my wreck the house strong because I I got arrested and we were really happy now I'm I I love her considering your achievements as a performer writer bandleader you've sold millions of albums you're in your 23rd year it's a successful musician yet when the media talk of you and still as the modern-day Dracula or the devil worship but does that tend to get you down still I don't take no notice of it I suppose I mean I mean all agree this way you know Vincent prices plays in actors a very fine actually and these acted roles of many no-carb characters of vampires which finer generals and demons and drown Dracula's and one yet he writes books in his spare time za run cookery you know the connection is nothing to do there but easily stuck might ask my brand that's my bed and I've got a lie in it you know it could be good I'm Ozzy Osbourne and it's like you know they got a blame feel you know if your day is totally screwed up blame Ozzy Osbourne you know you should be Elvis and the Stynes ones didn't it now it's you know senator thing about it is the day that the latest don't stop talking about me yesterday my my career is over as well look it's been great to talk yeah thanks very much for your time wonderful I might get Alex to bring a couple of posters in for you to sign for a couple of kids he looks after ties how much do we charge for a sign Golan and v6
