So, let's dive right in! Method 1:
The first thing you should do when getting GPU driver version error while
playing MW3, troubleshoot your graphics drivers. Right-click on the Windows Search
button & choose Device Manager. Go to the Display Adapters
section and then expand it. Right-click on your Graphics driver.
Select the Update Driver option. Click on the Search Automatically for Drivers
option & follow the instructions provided onscreen to download & install the latest driver.
If updating graphics drivers did not work, you can reinstall them.
Expand the Display Adapters section and right-click on your Graphics driver.
Click on Uninstall device option and follow the onscreen instructions to complete the process.
After installation of the drivers, install them again.
You should visit the official websites of your Graphics Card manufacturer
to update your graphics card drivers. These websites are linked
in the description below. Download the latest drivers for the graphics
card installed on your computer from these websites. Follow the on-screen instructions
to complete the driver installation process. Once done, restart your PC. Then rerun the app to
check for any updates. If any update is available, download & install them.
Method 2: Now, to verify the game files, right-click on the
Game from Steam Library and open its Properties. Go to the Install Files tab and select
the Verify integrity of game files option. After the verification, launch the game and check.
Also, ensure you are running the game on an Updated Windows version.
Method 3: Sometimes apps running in the background can
interfere with your game and create problems, so before you start the game close all
the programs running in the background. If the Steam Overlay feature is disabled,
it can help improve gaming performance. It will also reduce crashing,
freezing, or not launching issues. Open Steam and click on Library.
Find Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3& right-click on it. Then select its Properties. From the General Tab, uncheck the Enable
the ‘Steam Overlay while in-game’ option. Also, disable other overlay apps
like GeForce Experience, Discord, Nvidia Shadow Play overlay, or AMD Overlay.
If this couldn’t fix the issue, then update the graphics drivers.
Method 4: Force the Game to Run in High Priority Mode.
You can force it to run in high-priority mode using a registry change.
Copy the registry code provided in the video description.
‘Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 "CpuPriorityClass"="00000003"
Open Notepad, and paste the code. Go to the File tab and click on Save as.
Then save the file with a “.reg” extension. Like, here, we have named the file as ‘cod.reg’.
Select the File type as All Files. Then save it. Double-click the saved “.reg” file
and click “Yes” when prompted. Click on the ‘Yes’ button if you receive any
warning message to continue. Click on OK. Relaunch the game, and it should run smoothly. Method 5:
Click on This PC and go to Documents. Navigate to the Call of Duty folder.
You can rename the Call of Duty folder. You can either rename it or
move it to some other location. This will reset all the in-game
settings and the key binds. Then relaunch the game and
check if the issue is resolved. You can also change the game
settings manually. For this, open the Players folder inside the Call of Duty
folder and here you should find the game settings. Use Notepad to change the game settings.
You and change the fullscreen resolution to some manual resolution. Like here we
have changed that to 1920 1080 or so on. Method 6:
If nothing is working, uninstall and reinstall the game.
Right-click on the game from Steam Library and select the Manage option.
Select Uninstall. Once done, go to the game installation folder and delete it.
