Cockpit Chronicles: Behind the scenes with a flight attendant — Crew Meals

[Applause] this came from a six-day trip to Rio de Janeiro one Lake to Rio for day layover one Lake home we went to the Christ Redeemer statue we went hang gliding off the mountain which was absolutely amazing I got to sleep in eat out lay out in the in the beautiful Sun and see everything but now it's time to get back to work and it's going to be a busy busy place cuz we're full every single state there's probably about at least 30 minutes to an hour preparation in the galley that you really need to do again the boat this is Alaska Cali ready for the service which takes quite a bit of time so the sooner you can get on the airplane and get things going and setup the better your service will be the most important thing about it it has to do is always make them up so you just push your buttons on press brew now the coffee is going that's the first thing I do and then I get the cupcake from just wondering what would you like answer tonight water water nor the sandwich water just my okay and I'll tell you what your food choices are tonight let's go back up in a couple minutes so we heat up the nuts so they're nice warm that's American erling signature thing that we do and also we will get the cockpit some messes and cheese along with soda just two ovens up here it's amazing that we're serving about 35 people with two ovens something you've gotta cook put away hook it away and go in a cycle I start the nuts as soon as I get them loaded up in here and I get him caught and I get all the plates pots and then that's pot and put them back in the car that way it frees up my oven so I can start cooking the meals so that starts right off the back all the Brits getting warmed up the nuts the plates and we have three cards here of all the drinks water juices sodas beers wines this part is the first part that we take out and we use that to make all the drinks for the a business class food carts are right here is inflight so looks really nice it is for a nice service everything comes cellophane covers which keeps it nice and fresh and right before we take it out we take off the cellophane and have two different choices that for the salad we use everything plastic for the cockpit nothing glass I got through it sir ready for you [Applause] give up your choices for dinner tonight is Chateaubriand or a penne pasta miss Evelyn shuttle pilots having Chateaubriand tonight so I'm gonna get in my oven here Chateaubriand oil and vinegar [Music] that great really anything to drink in a little bit most people think that we have refrigerators and microwaves on the aircraft but actually we go we have to up basic dry ice regular ice and chillers right over here's the chiller a little chiller on you

I'd be so worried about spilling in the cockpit. Also, both pilots taking their meals at the same time... what do they do with their food if all hell breaks loose while they are eating?

Both pilots eating the same food - I thought that was a no no - food poisoning risk .

This is a neat video. Have you thought about submitting this to r/video? I'm no flight attendant, but I think they should deserve some love. Lastly, no microwaves? I assume the FAA doesn't want to cause any kind of interference with the radios and that's why they don't allow them?

Great. As soon as this makes the rounds, I'll have to make orders for chateau briand to be picked up at some FBO because some bitchy pilot missed the hotel's continental breakfast.
