Ryan hasn't an occupational and environmental medicine resident at the uniformed services University in Prior videos I've shown you how to Don and doff your reusable elastomeric respirator today I'm going to show you how to effectively clean your respirator in between patients and I have no conflicts of interest and the brands here are just brands we have available I don't get reimbursed for how they're print so let's get started first of all you're going to need your wipes I have here oxy beer TV wipes if you have any question on whether or not your wipes are effective against Tsarskoe v2 our Cove in nineteen I've provided an EPA website below where the EPA has categorized which wipes have will effectively kill Tsarskoe v2 it also lists the contact time which is the amount of time you need to leave this cleansing solution on the face mask in order to effectively sterilize the face mask so I to clean this we have our dirty mask dirty Chuck's clean chucks we have our lights and we have some wet paper towel and we have on a pair of gloves so the first thing you're going to do is take one of your the first wipe and you're going to wipe off the face mask piece you want to get all surfaces you want to make sure the cleaning solution is effectively deposited on the nest that solution and the contact on the solution is what kills the virus when you're done with this first way you're going to throw it into a box or container you're going to get your second white and you're gonna clean the inside surfaces of the mask be sure to remove any makeup or facial grease I'm gonna depositing solution good throw their second wife no biohazard container during this entire cleaning process you only have on gloves so make sure that you're not contaminating your clothes leave it on this dirty chunks now you're gonna clean the filter cartridges while they are attached to the respirator you're going to try to get in all the crevices deposit a good amount of the solution on both sides with your third white throw away the third wipe in the biohazard with wipe you're gonna get the head strap ever pedis next wrap well you're gonna transfer your massive coverton solution to the clean you're gonna throw away that last cavity white in addition to the dirty tux pad now you're waiting for the oxy beer TV wipes the contact time recommended by the EPA is one minute so we need to make sure that it sits there one minute to effectively kill the virus you're going to dispose of your dirty books you know a biohazard container you're gonna wash your hands with soap and water right now a minute has definitely elapsed we are going to take our paper towel that's already been pre wetted and we're going to wipe off the disinfecting solution the disinfecting solution can be a skin irritant so wipe off the inside of the mask and the filter cartridges and the head straps now you set it down to dry once the mask has fully dried air dried you can place it back into a reusable plastic bag this is when it came in sometimes it helps to write your name on this if this is an individual mask and you are all set to reuse a respirator in the case of another patient thank you
