books that i don't want and don't need i'm not going to get rid of a huge amount of books but i want this shelf to be indicative of the kind of reader i am and that kind of reader is a very delicate balance of basic as [ __ ] and crazy hi it's me editing having a kombucha so i just wanted to say i'm neurodivergent and mentally ill so i'm reclaiming the word crazy not just saying i'm just saying a bad thing just want you to know peace and love i'm very very lucky the kind of uh person that i am now the kind of job that i have means that people send me books which is great and companies send me books which is great but i don't need all of these books so i'm gonna get rid of them if you're wondering where they're going my sister i'm gonna let her go through pick the ones she wants then my mom is a teacher so she'll bring all the books in for her classroom and for the school's library so they're getting used which is great and i'm not going to read them so let's pass them on to the next generation here are the rules i can keep it if it's a favorite it's a book that i feel incredibly emotionally attached to i love it i can also keep it if it's a book that was a gift or if it's a book that i think i will read we're not doing you know wishful thinking oh maybe i'll read it no i have to be real with myself about what books i will read so that's how we're doing this okay oh and it's falling it's falling let's go through so first we have my three sally rooneys mr salary conversations with friends and normal people i'm keeping these i love sally rooney i'm incredibly up sally rooney's ass you wouldn't even believe it i would let sally rooney shoot me in the ass with a bazooka i would let sally rooney wear my skin as a suit i would let sally rooney pour acid up my butthole nisha dolan memorial by brian washington and such a fun age these are all favorites of mine now we're moving on to random fiction and stuff so this is where we're gonna have to start making cuts holding ourselves accountable that sounds like i'm canceling myself i'm not the alchemist i tried to read this and i think i'm a little too evil i think it's a little too genuine for me number one ladies and active agency would love to reread absolutely loved it we're keeping it fahrenheit451 i've had this forever i've literally never been interested in reading it you all grow up and leave me i found it really interesting and really twisted it's basically just a memoir but told through the lens of this girl's tennis coach being a famous pedophile i'm keeping it sunday philosophy club very cottage core but i didn't enjoy it as much as the number one ladies detective agency i don't think i'd re-read it and i'm not interested in reading the rest of the series in watermelon sugar i think this is a good one to keep it's weird girls by emma cline i've literally never read this people keep telling me to read it i think i bought this like literally when i was 16 or something and i haven't read it pride and prejudice by jane austen i literally think this cover is the ugliest [ __ ] thing i've ever seen in my life it looks like a tim burton thing and it's scary let's do this i have two kurt vonneguts i'm keeping both of them i think these covers look absolutely sick i haven't read kurt vonnegut and i think i really would like to i think there's a universe in which i would love kurt vonnegut so i'm keeping both of these truman capote summer crossing this is his unfinished novella i would keep this just because i think it's a cool book to have voltaire i read in high school loved i'll keep one copy of franny and zoe i'll keep that and i'll keep my two copies of catcher in the rye as well beautiful in the damn by f scott fitzgerald i hated this i'm getting rid of this i hated this book i thought it was so boring yeah just really did not live up to the hype for me and i love f scott fitzgerald played as it lays by joan didion i thought this was fine didn't love it but it's the only didion i own all the other joan didions i read i got from the library so i want to keep it just as you know respect for she's alive i don't know why i pretended like she was in heaven putting some respect on joan didion's name you know okay i'm gonna get rid of lord of the flies i'm never gonna reread it i was in a play of lord of the flies and i played maurice who's an ancillary character a separate piece i read this in high school and hated it but i think it's like very dark academia i would want to reread this this is one of my high school english teachers favorite books i thought this book was absolutely ass i thought it was awful in high school but i might like it now it seems incredibly depressing and i don't mind depressing books we're going to keep that we're also going to keep wuthering heights by emily bronte because i conquered it look at the small type i conquered this book i'm keeping it romeo and juliet i don't really want to keep i read it i really did that i love shakespeare just itching my leg looks like i'm absolutely itching my crotch though sorry i don't say actually as if like i'm the only person in the world that actually loves shakespeare it's really crazy but a lot of people on the internet don't like shakespeare and think he's overrated which is fair but this one i'm like hey it's not a fave these are two copies of jane austen's i have they're the same copies it's so cute it's emma and north anger abby i'm keeping these and then to kill a mockingbird by harper lee i'm not gonna keep this i read it i loved it in high school you know it's good but i'm not gonna visit it again got some more books over here let's go baby this is a cowboys christmas carol my sister got this for me as a joke at walmart it's like one of those sexy little cowboy smut christmas books i have no interest in reading this i really don't then we have the hating game which i will keep i i really enjoyed this one i don't think that's an unpopular opinion by any means it's basically the one romance everyone talks about but i loved this thought it was really well done i think so many romances are really stupid to me i like this i cared about it i love yearning and then we have julia quinn to sir philip with love this is one of the richardson books this is eloise from bridgerton like the smart sisters book i liked it would i ever read it again no this is gonna go i'm also gonna get rid of the first richardson book the duke and i like the eloise one a lot better couldn't get through this one found it boring we have the tempest and much as i did but i did john steinbeck you're going places kid and also just to show that i conquered it that i conquered this book and i read it for my emma chamberlain video which is a video that really got a lot of views and brought a lot of people to my channel so sentimental i'm a sentimental [ __ ] [ __ ] sue me then we have my unabridged collection of five agatha christie novels this is a book that my grandmother stole from the library so we're keeping it and i'm literally up agatha christie's [ __ ] ass queen of mysteries a complete collection of all of the sherlock holmes stories i love sherlock holmes too i love an old tummy mystery are they problematic of course they're so white it's insane and mostly men and if anybody is queer they are fully closeted and mental illness is depicted horribly but you know what i love them they're pure escapism it is a hot girl agatha christie gloomy murder summer we're all in agreement i love gloomy mysteries that take place in like the victorian era i refuse to explain myself my escapism is to a time in which i would have surely been killed for being who i am and i don't care let's do it baby hatred of poetry by ben lerner my uh great aunt is a poetry professor and she sent this to me and it's great it's literally just an essay talking about why people hate poetry and it's so interesting because it talks a lot about just like the basis for criticism of anything why do people criticize why do people think that certain things are stupid it's just a very interesting essay i really enjoyed it the complete short stories of truman capote i've literally destroyed this so there's no even way it's going to the library so i'm keeping it then we have the 3ya books i own loveless by alice oseman i got her other books from my library this is when i bought though because i had to have it when it was released and i [ __ ] absolutely loved it i jived with it like a novel about going to university and having your first year be ever it's basically musings on race in america talking about sports or talking about police brutality talking about it in different through different aspects of american life and how race affects them the odd couple female version by neil simon the dinner party by neil simon rose's dilemma by neil simon i love neil simon plays i do i think they're really funny and i think they're timeless because also love it's funny and existential keeping it who's afraid of virginia woolf i haven't read this i don't even really know what it's about hey girl bosses i'm editing and i realized i didn't say what the play is about so it's basically about a couple who has another couple over for dinner and the hosts their relationship is falling apart and they basically use their guests as fodder to rip apart their own relationship and by extension their guest relationship sounds good to me okay that sounds pretty good and also the importance of being earnest which i haven't read but i would like to then
