Classroom Setup Day 1 | Business Education Teacher

foreign [Music] my name is Miss Lana I am a third year business teacher and this is the first Vlog of setting up my classroom I've done some setup videos on Tick Tock in the past but I decided I want to put together a longer video kind of more for myself to be honest and for I guess other teachers just because I don't see a lot of teachers who's at their classrooms like for Vlogs and videos that have Labs like I do I teach business and computer classes so that means I have a computer lab classroom so half my classroom is computers in half my classroom is more of a classroom setup so I'm super excited to take you along with me and see how we decorate our classroom this year I have two weeks left until school starts until I have to go back full time but next week I do have some freshman orientation trainings and some other things that I have to take care of for link crew because I'm the link for advisor so I'm hoping to get basically everything done this week and whatever's left kind of just throughout next week whenever I can so fun fact I'm about halfway there right now and I just realized I did not bring any of my school keys so I'm having to turn around now so that's lovely but it's okay it is what it is okay we went back got our keys and now we're on our way again here she is floors are all clean this is nice looks like they gave me all the ugly chairs so that's nice they gave me all the blue and brown and the Ugly colored ones but that's okay everything looks normal hmm I just walked around the high school hall looked around I wanted to see if there was any teachers here or who had been here and I saw a couple I didn't see any people but I did see um that some classrooms were different so I guess some people got changed around or left or new teachers are here so I'm excited to see who the new teachers are to meet them but now that I'm in my classroom definitely to the point now where I'm overwhelmed again and I usually do this the first day where I get here I just stare make my list kind of move things around but I never can get anything done because I just it's it's such a mental block trying to figure out exactly what to do first what to do next I have to put away all this stuff all the stuff which I can kind of start working on that today because some of it's like my rugs my little caddies my Pulpit my keyboard cart um I guess I can start putting away the chairs but so one of the main things that I'm waiting on and that I'm gonna put a work order in today to do is to change my desk because so it's been in the spot for the whole time that I've been here the whole two years before that the teacher had a standing desk there and so I usually have my computer and it can show what's on the screen and like I can monitor the kids computers but if you look at the way my room is my desk is like in the middle so this size the classroom like I have a kind of like a conference table set up and then my desk and then my lap and the thing about this setup is if I'm sitting on my computer at my desk in which I do the most most the time um if I'm not teaching or lecturing the kids are usually in the lab but anytime I'm using the classroom side for some of my classes I can't use my desk because my back's going to be toward them or if I have kids in the lab and they need to go get something from their backpack because it has to stay on this side of the classroom their backpacks then my back is to them and it kind of makes me nervous because I don't know what they're doing I don't know what they're getting just because they're teenagers so here is what I'm wanting to do classroom side lab side that's where my desk is right now what I want to do is take this table with these two student computers put them where my desk is right now so they'll be facing this way so I can have two kids sitting right here and right here and put my desk right here in this area and I kind of want to make an L desk that way I can first of all have stuff behind me on my walls I can finally use walls because usually teachers do use their walls behind their desk but like pictures or student work and stuff but I've never been able to do that because it's been in the middle of the classroom I want to make an L desk and that way I can see the computers I can see everything and then I can also see over here the only reason I can't do that myself is because my computer and the student computers the lines basically have to be moved or switched around so right now what I'm going to do is I'm going to go ahead and put in that work order and get that done taken care of it is 12 30 right now so I doubt they can come today but they might can come tomorrow if I get it in early enough so okay so I'm gonna go ahead and start writing my to-do list on my board so I don't lose it and also I can check it off and scratch that when I'm done with it I sectioned off all my ideas into organizing cleaning moving decorating and just some random ideas but that's just how my brain categorizes it I'm actually going to dust my bookshelf it's over here and it's kind of Dusty uh it's a wood and it's kind of difficult to dust but I have some paper towels [Music] thank you [Music] I cleared off much this except for this rug because it's going to go underneath my desk and since I'm going to move my desk I'm not going to worry about it right now I played out this rug at least and I started I started looking at all this stuff that I need to arrange and put in its home spot I did throw away a couple things thank goodness because I need to de-clutter because there's just a lot in my classroom it's only my third year so like I'm scared to throw some things away so hopefully this year I can get rid of a lot more than I did the last two years it's 1 30 right now I'm gonna go get some lunch because I woke up later um and didn't get here till like noon so I'm gonna go get some lunch because I'm really hungry and then come back and hopefully get some other things done okay so have my lunch um I got to go back to one of my favorite places just ride down the road from school and I live a little bit away so I'll never get to get this unless I'm at school so I was able to get some fried pickles and a ham and cheese po boy which is my favorite from this place especially so I think I'm just gonna kind of chill here so I'm just gonna eat and answer emails last I looked I had like 200 unread emails and most of them are from like FBLA stuff or just District stuff that didn't matter but I need to go through them make sure I didn't miss anything because I was not paying attention to my school emails this entire summer didn't want to look at it that they needed something they could have called me or something so and I'm gonna watch some parks and rec because peacock is the only streaming that my district still allows on the Wi-Fi so I can watch office or Parks and Rec so I'll watch some parks and rec see y'all I finished going through my emails I eat and I've actually been just standing for like the last 30 minutes and just staring off and around my classroom I think I'm not gonna worry about doing anything physically like I'm not gonna move anything else I just I keep getting mentally blocked because I don't know what I want to do with everything I do have a bunch of posters and documents that I've been working on throughout the summer that I need to finish so I think I'm just gonna sit down and try to do those and then I have a meeting tonight that I have to join a zoom for so I think that's what I'm gonna do today I definitely did not do as much as I wanted to do I really wanted to get at least some of this done if possible but I just I can't get myself to do it yet just because there's so many things I do not know yet and I think once I can move my desk to that area I think then I'll be able to just do the rest of the things that I need to do okay so I am leaving I did the meeting um that I had to join at four o'clock and so I think it's like five now it was a very not so productive day overall but productive enough for me to feel like I got some things accomplished they were mainly listing all things I need to do I did figure out exactly where I want to put my desk I was able to measure my desk and all the things that are going to make up my desk area and kind of work it out on canva just to see what the layout will be so that way when it guys are able to come I'm able to put it together right away and show them exactly where I want everything so tomorrow I'll be coming back I'm hoping I can get up earlier in the morning I have a hard time waking up early if I don't have to just because I like to sleep in but hopefully I can get here earlier tomorrow take care of my business because I do have to leave a little bit earlier tomorrow I can't stay this late so yeah this was day one [Music]
