Class 3A Playoff 1st Round - Harmony Grove vs. Piggott 11-20-20

for playoff football as the camden harmony grove hornets have made the long stretch drive all the way to parker field here in clay county at pickett arkansas we are a few minutes before kickoff as we are meeting at midfield for the coin toss this is a unprecedented event here in pigott as the mohawks finished second in the three a3 conference and got to host this playoff game here tonight looks like the mohawks have won the toss and will defer to the second half as tanner dixon is out there representing piggett becca arnold is captain tonight for the hornets and they will receive the opening kickoff as the mohawks will defend the south end zone darren moore here along with special guests we got him muted bruce guthrie we might have to pay royalties or something if we use guthrie's name he's a professional we're just volunteers he's part of the actual press corps yes but we are uh compliant with the pandemic conditions well the mohawks got here the hard way didn't they darren yes they did they had to make up some games and they played three games and how do you do that seven nights and one of the things that remains me and i told my son this is y'all started off on thursday four and three and by the next thursday you were seven and three and here they come flying the colors as traditional traditionally they do pickett has been doing this for a long time and then harmony grove hornets make their way to the field harmony grove is no stranger to the playoffs as they lost really really deep i believe in the third or fourth round last year to osceola and osceola went on to the finals so the mohawks so what you're saying is they're for real i believe they're all time they're somewhere around 20 and 20 or 21 and 20 in uh playoff games in their history mohawks are playing their 11th playoff game in their history which is a short one you know we i keep talking about it the three games in seven days that they won it may not mean too much to them right now but next year and the year after and the year after it's going to mean more and more what i think it does is they've done something nobody's done before and they may not ever do it again they had to run the table to get here tonight and they did it and that's one of the remarkable things about this season and all the adversity that they've overcome as they have had their backs against the wall they've lost a teammate as hunter midkiff lost his life here from heat related illness in august and they've just had so much that's been against him and as i quote uh coach don simmons adversity brings opportunity that's true somebody else said that too i believe but i saw that one on social media today so it counts [Music] michael parker number two the senior will t the football up for the mohawks back deep it looks like jeremy edwards for harmony grove and he's gonna take it on the fly and he's got a hole and he gets tackled down by drake clifton number 44 at the 32-33 yard line good job it's a nice play by the kickoff team you know darren we've talked a lot about how often we just teams just squibb it in 3a and end up with the ball at the between the 40 and a 50 and i don't know what's riskier giving them half a field or kicking it deep so harmony grove will come up to the football with three receivers in the set and one man in the slot in the shotgun they're tied they did they were oh logan ralph met him in the hole along with the other linebacker michael parker i think these boys are ready to play i think he lost they've had two weeks off after playing seven games in three days that was number eight daniel hill on the run loss of a yard as they tried to go off tackle are they more of a spreadsheet than trying to run it than they are really a passing team well a lot of times they've had some success doing that is that's johnson in this shotgun he's looking to throw and he's got a man in the flat he is open he dropped it andrew taylor was open near the 41 yard stronger how does that happen they're gonna they're gonna bring it up he just gets strong second inches it's like i said he hasn't had a lot of touches but it's had a really good year and they're gonna give it to logan he's got a oh he's gonna lose a little so it's gonna get third down in a couple you always kind of tease me i'm not not talking up my kid or anything but he uh you know i'm always trying to be he just doesn't like attention but coming into tonight he had 111 carries for 761 yards so that's over a 6.8 average 11 touchdowns dixon's thrown for 1850 yards on the year they're going to give it back to parker and he's got a crease and he's going to keep running it and dragon guys so here's here's what's happened this season and darren and i were talking about it before the game if the defense doesn't have the box stacked then we can run we'll run and if they put guys in the box we'll throw it and we've had a lot of success throwing them with a new yardage record for passing this year brandon seal comes in motion he's going to take him the jet suite he's going to cut it up it is strung out well brandon cuts back but he's going to take it i can't imagine let's see where he goes that's good job good job did you see our downfield receiver [Applause] he's so little back there he sometimes he gets lost that's a good thing [Applause] so tempting to make a block down there and we stayed where we didn't get a penalty he takes it from the 47 all the way down to about the 14 i believe is first 13. so we're going to call it 30 plus yards first down and 10. parker comes in motion and he's going to take it and he's going to cut up and he's inside the 5. i think he's going to be a little short first down second to pair we're at inside nine minutes in the first quarter mohawks forced to three and out took the punt and they are in the red zone logan ralph in motion tanner dixon's gonna take it he's gonna he's gonna be really close he's got a first down i'm telling you what our offensive linemen are on and they are that interior over there if you look at that's logan white i was so happy he got a two-point conversion a couple weeks ago first and goal ball's near the two and they're going to bring in josh redd he's had a great year logan white's going to be the fullback which is odd rare in the mohawk offensive set harmony grows in the goal line defense they're going to give it to parker and he's short call him short they plug that up really good [Music] second down and goal let's see what coach simmons they're going to take the full back out i mean you got to run this right up the gut with the fullback don't you i mean the the quarterback get him under center they're going to run a bunch formation i don't think he got it he is short thank you i think he dropped the snap that was bobbled wasn't it so we're fortunate to get it back mohawk's had some turnovers in their own end two weeks ago third and goal they're going to bring the fullback back in well bruce one thing about this team if they don't get it here though we won't settle for a field goal we know that [Applause] yes guys this is where you can't do it that's a that's a painful painful penalty come on you want them slap passes it's my favorite slant pass i don't know you i'm just glad i don't have to make this decision and if it's not right with the alignment it'll change so here we are at 650 remaining in the first quarter mohawks just had their first mistake as they had a procedure penalty pushed him back five yards ralph comes in motion tanner tanner's looking to throw it and he doesn't have anybody he needs to throw it away and he's got a guy there you go that was the right play incomplete that'll stop the clock with 6 30 here in the first quarter clock so they live to play another day there took a little bit off that pass that's a touchdown he was throwing on the run so the mohawks have 12 seconds left on the play clock stevens trent stevens conversion and they just did it well it's something we haven't seen this year that's what you do in playoff situation is it not something nobody's seen that wasn't on film dixon is in the shotgun and line he was right there so that's gonna be the first first down for the hornets as the ball spotted at their own 45 ethan ralph made that tackle so it wasn't much run after the catch they're gonna bring that counter again and it's just busted up kyson conley was back there to trip him up ethan ralph make that logan ralph was that michael parker yeah back there so that was penetration by that d-line really caused havoc back there you're camden harmony grove you do not want casting conley in your backfield no it usually blows things up nope and you don't want him sitting on a small stool true it's kind of like me i'm really hard on furniture so the hornets are trying to get in the right formation so we've got four receivers in this set and johnson's gonna throw it out to edwards he dropped it he heard joe carpenter coming well he was going to get popped anyway what coach mcgregor always say you're going to get hit you might as well it hurts less if you catch it actually that's true that might have been what he said so that's gonna bring up a third down and ten as the harmony grove receivers haven't helped their quarterback johnson a lot but again even if he makes that catch he gets dropped right there for a minimal game they haven't showed this formation yet so you look at something coming across and they oh he's hitting the backfield again that's big josh red wow number 60. man wow we're playing on their side of the line josh red just absolutely blew that up [Music] yeah the sophomores have made a real impact on this team because we're inside 40 seconds because they're in punt formation once again brandon seal back deep for the mohawks so he hadn't fielded one yet it's a good punt this is going to die right around the 22. that's number 77 brandon harris there's two backs which usually means a counter play parker is looking to find some room and there's not any he gets back to the line of scrimmage and that's about it 425 left mecca arnold wrapped him up he's a senior and he is a player now he can play football second down and goal for pickett stevens and parker in the backfield dixon is under center three receivers in the set they're going to give
