CLAM QUICK-SET ESCAPE REVIEW! SHOULD YOU BUY!

[Music] this is the new addition to our rv camping life we bought a clam wind and rain shelter might actually come in handy this weekend because it's supposed to be what 20 some mile an hour away and uh right now it's pretty nice it's pretty calm but we'll see what happens a little bit later today well we're getting into fall and this is like our favorite time to go camping and especially when you're at the coast you don't know what the weather's going to be like here it's supposed to be beautiful sunny but we have 10 10 to 20 mile an hour winds in the forecast so this is a shelter it's a wind and rain shelter it's the mesh that's on it i did a ton of research so as jason does i he taught me well i did a ton of research on it anyway it's got what's called nosia mesh so it actually will keep out those no seeing mosquitoes so that was like really the biggest selling point for us is because a lot of times we go camping um we end up with mosquitoes we have the thermacella lanterns and stuff and those work great but they only last for so many hours with a tent it lasts the entire time you're there so we uh we decided to get this bad boy and i got i got one that was big enough because as you can see these tables most tables when you go camping are eight feet long for the picnic tables so this one is actually big enough that you can put a picnic table inside so we wanted one that if you know after covid we have a group of people we go camping whatever um we can put a bring a picnic table inside and we can play games inside the tent so we can still be outside not squished around the trailer yeah the other thing is too anytime we invite people over into our trailer somebody spills wine beer every time any other sort of alcohol beverage and or pop or whatever so this is where we're gonna make people stay from now on nobody can come back trailer anymore unless you unless you come meet us at a campsite sometime and want to come say hi then we'll let you in but no more family allowed inside the trailers this thing is 35 pounds so not the lightest thing in the world but that's good because it shouldn't just collapse on us so you just lay this out on your squat um this is the top and just lay it like this and then it says to go in and grab the little handles and just pop them [Music] and then you out inside push up the top look at all this room for activities guys i mean this you could do you could play monopoly in here you could play twister you could play just about anything you wanted in here yeah and see how tight the mesh is ain't nothing getting through that no so it's got um rain and wind walls so for now it's not that windy out so we won't put a well i guess we can put them up to to put it on video but they're actual i bought six of them because there's it's excited uh so you can go all the way around and have it totally enclosed so basically like a regular tent as you can see that took less than not even a minute to get all those popped out um so it's a quick set by clam and i'll leave a link down below how much was it 313. 313 bucks so pretty expensive but it's the highest it's the best one you can get and you know kim like she said she did all the research but uh when we were looking at these things just like anything else you get what you pay for and so we're pretty we we hooked this up at home and did make a video of this already but it the sound was really bad so we decided to do it here so we have had a chance to set it up already once before and yeah i mean the quality of it is it's worth it um what about these what about these stabilizer things right it's gonna pull it out they also have uh stabilizers that go into the ground sorry to help hold it into place and then it's got all these little mistakes oh steak all right so it just sits there maybe no maybe there yeah but anyway so we're supposed to have a pretty windy uh couple days here this weekend so it'll be good to put that down and then also see how the the wind works the nice thing is on a day like today when you get some air through here that feels pretty good yeah that's the one thing we're concerned about with having it such a tight film on it is that um would it be stuffy uh but right now feels pretty good windows open our doors open of course but [Music] just like that we got one stick in the ground that's uh those are pretty hefty too they're plastic stakes but they're long and they're thick so you're gonna get uh there's no way this thing's flying anywhere that's for darn sure [Music] that is a perfect fit love it what is it you basically fit a whole picnic table in here so if you had a family or friends or whatever and you wanted some protection from sun or rain or wind or whatever that's a perfect uh size for sure i was a little concerned when kim bought this what was it 10 by do you remember uh it's 140 by 140 so 12 by 12. okay 12 by 12. it's octagonal yeah i was a little concerned that was going to be way too big for most campsites which here we got plenty of room so as long as you have a picnic table you'll have area around it but i mean like here we moved it back here because our picnic table is right next to the fire pit and i want this thing right next to a fire pit um but you should be able to as long as you have a picnic table you would have space around the picnic table and there should be room for this right so i purchased these separate um they come though how i purchased them was in a three pack um and these ones actually have windows on them you can get them where they're totally solid but i got walls with windows because i figure if you put solid brown all the way around it's gonna be pretty dark in here that's what these hooks are for oh that's probably and then there's velcro here so this is a rain flap so when it rains the rain doesn't come straight inside so these have velcro on both sides so you can connect them here and on the outside oh my gosh dude these guys definitely thought of everything so with this you would just roll it up and then your strings to tighten oh my god that's awesome what's this for that's oh that should go through oh right so that the oh yeah look at that that's crazy so let's go inside and see is it is it extra dark in there that's cool what's funny is it didn't make it it didn't make it that much darker because you can see through it right and your your ceiling is so so bright right so what so the price of the clam the whole thing how much was that was three so this was 313 on amazon um these actually got they have them on amazon but they were out of stock and we wanted them so quickly so i was actually able to find them at bad bath and beyond online as well and i think they were 59.99 for one set of three so i bought two sets so it's a grand total you're talking close 450 almost 500 bucks yeah so it's definitely uh not the the cheapest bargain type deal that you can get but again quality wise um i think you can get yourself you don't have the metal poles i mean you think of some of those pop-ups you know uh you have metal poles there's no fingers getting snapped you know squished in those little whole puppy things whatever you don't have any of that and there's no because it's not metal you're not gonna have the rust like you could have with those other ones and this whole thing um like he said we we did it at home i mean as easy as it was to pop those walls out that's all we have to do to collapse it is just pop them in fold the whole thing up and stick it in the bag pretty neat set up uh hopefully going to last years and years for us we like to camp with family and friends and stuff so this will really give us an opportunity to be able to be outside more um instead of just being underneath the awning you know when the weather is you know good enough uh but when the rainy stuff comes we knew that wasn't giving me an option so definitely worth the investment in the end all right so we showed you how easy it was to set up which was less than probably five minutes 10 minutes now we're going to uh take it down show you how quick that is so first i'm gonna i left one of the walls up so that you can see how easy it is to take down one of the walls how did that work by the way the walls oh it was awesome because we have a lot of wind never had any rain fortunately but had a lot of wind and it really worked and on the days when it was somewhat warm in between i actually just rolled the windows up so i can get some breeze going for it they're great all right so step number one of course is to remove the stakes from the ground which can be as easy or as hard as you want it to be so just like that removing the stakes is probably the hardest part of the whole deal finding hard just a little bit more time [Music] having those supports was really nice because uh this thing was super stable it didn't move an inch next piece pull down the top basically just doing reverse of what you did the first time let it collapse on you just go around to the side so it's easiest to hold on to the top and push it in then then it doesn't run away from you [Music] all right just like that officially done so again set up less than five to ten minutes take down less than five to ten minutes if you have two people gonna be a little bit easier uh but just simple as can be just really impressed with how easy it's been to use and uh we're heading out to uh her sister's house for labor day weekend as well um so we'll be able to get set back up again and be able to use it opposite reason it's supposed to be uh in the 90s uh all weekend so it's gonna be super hot so it's gonna be nice to have this uh to get some shade you know if you have any questions about it please let us I normally don't comment on these youtube click-bait posts but I have one of these. Fair warning:

You will BAKE inside of it. Just look at the white roof. No idea why they didn't make this thing more reflective. And while the mesh keeps out all the flying critters it's so fine it blocks most air flow.

If you will always be in 70-80 degree weather then it's not so bad. (But very little shade because of the translucent roof). Anything warmer with no breeze then be prepared to butter yourself up and roll over every 30 minutes.

I wish reviewers would suppress their zeal long enough to actually use the product before gushing over something they've just busted out the box.
