Please note that this website is currently a work in progress! Lots of interesting data and statistics to come.
Some explanations: A little guide for the perplexed: 01:45 - the song is called "Five Minutes", it's an old one, from the movie "Carnival Night" (1956), one of those movies that are traditionally being rewatched in Russia during New Year holidays. All other songs (except for Mamma Maria and the final one) are Italian-style covers of Russian hits of 2020, performed by Russian artists dressed as Italian pop-stars of the 1980s. 03:23 - Ivan presents his usual sidekicks from his evening show Vecherny Urgant. Matteo's real name is Dmitry Khrustalyov, the coma joke is a reference to an incident that happened to him this summer. No one knows what really happened, but they made a lot of jokes about it during the last season of the show. 04:02 - Gudini's real name is Aleksander Gudkov and it's probably mainly him (along with Urgant) that we must thank for the musical concept. He usually makes very funny musical mash-ups for the Urgant show. He also often invents the craziest music videos for Russian singers. You've probably seen him as an actor in several Little Big music videos. 04:29 - Allegra's real name is Alla Mikheeva, and she's hilarious. Her specialty in the Urgant show is "news reporting": she's very good in embarrassing people, feigning childish naivety and ignorance, but be careful, she's not dumb. The boobs are fake. 07:22 – “Pallini” is Aleksander Pal, professional movie actor. This year he starred in a comedy “Deeper” about a serious stage director who is forced to make porn films. 12:34 – “Ornella Buzzi”’s real name is Olga Buzova, she’s a TV presenter and a singer that we all love to hate because she’s really everywhere. But, as you see, she has a sense of humor. 13:11 – And now Alla lost her fake boobs. I guess they went with Buzova. 20:55 – Gigi’s real name is GeeGun, he’s a famous rapper who’s had a turbulent year: he was involved in several embarrassing situations in public (definitely being drunk), but he seems OK now. 21:30 – “sissante” is a funny childish Russian word for “tits”. 26:38 – Nikolay Baskov is a professional opera singer. He also probably is the only person involved who speaks Italian in real life. His “bastardo” is Danya Milokhin, a popular TikTokker. 31:41 – these girls are actresses who played in a very popular web-show called “Chiki” about four prostitutes living in a south region of Russia. The song that is performed later by Ivan Dorn was written (in Russian, of course) for this show. 32:40 – “Bukovki” (“little letters”) was one of only 2 or 3 kinds of pasta known in Russia in the 1980s (when Gudkov, Urgant and me were little kids). All other kinds that they were so deliciously enumerating moments before, were never known in Soviet Russia. 39:35 – “Enrico Carlacci” is Garik Kharlamov, a popular stand-up artist. His song may seem to make sense in Italian, but the joke is that it’s a set of Italian words that sound like dirty words in Russian. 46:52 – “Pippa il Secondo” is Philipp Kirkorov, one of the most eminent Russian pop-singers. He represented Russia in Eurovision in 1995: failed then, but was more lucky later as producer of Dima Bilan who came in 2nd. Maybe that’s why he’s named “Pippa the Second”. 48:49 – “La Soldinetta” ("A Little Coin", Monetochka) is a real stage name of this amazing singer who’s very popular now in Russia. 49:29 – it’s a fragment of The Main Russian New Year Movie of All Times, “The Irony of Fate” (1975). The real part of dialogue is “- Do you think I’m irresponsible? – Time will show”. The joke, I guess, is about Russian (and any) movie dubbing that often mutilates the original. 49:50 – they sing a song from that same movie, “The Irony of Fate”, and it’s a beautiful cover, maybe the best of the show.
