all righty party people so today I figured I would go over the top five or top six we'll see how this goes today ar-15 rifles or a our pistols anything that wasn't a handgun for 2019 so welcome back everybody hope you guys are doing awesome I hope you guys are having an amazing Christmas you know you guys be safe enjoy your families do your thing that's ultimately the most important thing don't worry about going out and buying a bunch of stuff unless you just really want to figured for this year I would make two types of videos on this topic I'm gonna do one for you know anything that's not a handgun then I'm gonna have a separate video for my top five favorite handguns a twenty ninth so I'm not gonna go in any particular order I'm just kind of gonna go over my top five favorites tell you a little bit of why I'll also link to their respective videos because I have multiple videos on all the guns that we're talking about today so you can go watch those get a feel for it for yourself but if you want a quick cheat sheet if you follow the first link in the video description it'll take you to a separate page where you can find the build list or the links and the promo codes for anything that you're seeing in today's video and I'm also gonna show you a couple of them that just didn't make it in today's video and I'm gonna tell you why they didn't make it in today's video so number one is going to be the foxtrot Mike 9-millimeter uppers that's also side charging which is pretty freakin sweet [Music] so I got this upper a little bit before 2019 but I didn't get my full review out of it until 2019 for those of you who are unfamiliar with AR nines or nine-millimeter ARS whatever you want to call them in the past they've never been the cheapest guns to build especially if you wanted the last round bolt hold-open I think the first one I built was in late 2017 and back then for an affordable nine millimeter AR that had last round bolt hold-open you are looking at about $1,000 so Foxtrot Mike makes these nine millimeter uppers a really cool thing about them is they got the full length rail system that is M lock they also got this very nice recessed flash can on it but the coolest thing on this upper has to be the side charging mechanism that comes up here through the handguard system which I thought was really kind of strange and I didn't know how that was gonna perform and I put a ton of rounds through here I don't remember how many I put through it but it ran like a top didn't have a single issue with it and the best part was these uppers are think are around the 300 dollar mark it can go up or down depending on where you get them but I'll have promo codes for them now it's on my cm mg lower right now but they do make Foxtrot Mike lowers that are completely assembled ready to go they make up for glock style magazines and i think they have them for M&P magazines as well if they do I'll be sure to put a link for those in the build list you could essentially buy the upper and the lower for around the 600 dollar mark you get last round bolt hold-open and you get side charging so this was one of my all-time favorite nine-millimeter type uppers that you could buy because of the price now a couple of cons that I did have with this was earlier in the year I did some reviews on the endo mag they're essentially these mag guts that you put into your P mags and it allows you to use a standard lower receiver using nine-millimeter ammo the only problem was it didn't want to work correctly with it with the mag guts I was able to use any other upper everything ran flawlessly and I was able to get last round bolt hold-open and everything but for some reason it didn't want to work with this upper and I still have yet to figure out why I have no clue and someone had mentioned because the bolt carrier group says Colt on it that this was made for Colt mags but I've been using it with Glock I don't even own a cult mag lower and it's worked with every single dedicated nine-millimeter lower so I say all that to say this if you are gonna pick something up like this don't get the nine-millimeter conversion mags actually get a dedicated lower and you shouldn't have any issues at least I have it next up on the list I actually need to make some more videos on this gun but I've so far this year I've only made one but I've been shooting the crap out of it this is the facts and firearms FX 5500 I believe and it's super light this is the lightest ar-15 that I own it is only a bow forget what the way it is it's either 4.1 or 3.9 pounds I could be wrong it's been a long time since I looked at the specs about it I've never been the kind of guy that most people would consider like an elitist when it comes to firearms however I will say this I understand where elitist come from when they're the kind of people like I only use these types of guns or only use these types of triggers I understand where that comes from because once you experience something that is super high quality it's really hard to take a step backwards but with that said on the FX 5500 it has an a pen and welded muzzle brake that is also small enough so you could actually take this gas block off over it so that way you don't got to worry about trying to remove it and the reason it's pin and welded is this is a fourteen and a half inch barrel and it is a pencil barrel and a lot of times most pencil barrels are kind of inaccurate because they get a lot of width in them however because Faxon is Faxon they did some magic to their barrels and they're still super accurate regardless of the fact that their pencil barrel so you got a fourteen and a half inch barrel then when you add this muzzle brake and you pin and weld it it makes it a 16 inch length and then if you ever need to take the glass block off your okay they also have a carbon fiber handguard and then and then they have this beautiful skeletonized bolt carrier group in here and it also comes with some other goodies for the other goodies that it comes with it has the Radian charging handle on it and then it has the radiant speed safety and it has a high per fire EDT three trigger which this trigger I didn't think was gonna be good turned out to be amazing now a couple things I want to talk about this was my first experience with this safety mechanism right here but it is by far my favorite safety times and I've talked about this in numerous videos is the kind of safety it's the kind of safety that you could just like that fast and this is the only gun that I can do that with super quick also has a Magpul grip on it and I actually threw one of those handle it grip textures on here handling grips are kind of like what do you call those Talon grips so if they have them a lot of different colors and they have them in a lot of different textures for different types of platforms so if you want to check these out I'll make sure to put a link to them in the build list as well and then I have this plastic 3d printed for grip on here I don't recommend these because if they get hot they will melt off I just have it on there and it just hasn't melted yet and then I have the vortex strike fire red dot on it and this has proven to be an amazing little system it's super fast and super light like I was talking about earlier the downside to this they're about nineteen hundred dollars or two thousand dollars they're kind of pricey but I got to say this for an on skeletonized AR in the only place where they really made it lighter is in the barrel in the bolt carrier group in the handguard I say they knocked it out of the park let's talk about a gun now that didn't make it into the top five and I'm gonna tell you why and I'm going to tell you which gun made it instead so this is the Palmetto State Armory AKM or a k47 whatever you want to call it I did a lot of modifications to this this originally came with the cherry wood color on it it is the gf3 version however I do have a pre-production gf3 so it doesn't have all the typical stampings as most GF threes just keep that in mind a lot of people try to pointing that out that's not a GF 3 and it's like well that's what the box says in the paperwork so might not have the right stampings but according to the Palmetto that's what they sent me we did a build on this and had a lot of interesting takeaways from this build you know at first we did the CNC trigger in it and that's trigger just it just messed everything up swap that out for the alg trigger and that worked well swapped out the wooden stock for this Magpul one that actually that actually folds right there like that a lot and then I put this Midwest industries handguard on it up here on the front so I can get a better grip on it that works better for my style now one thing that I got really kind of spoiled on with this gun is this side charger this made me incredibly spoiled when I went back to my HR 15s and started shooting those so why didn't it make it into today's top 5 well I love everything about this a Kay I really do the only con I have about it as I probably should have got a smaller handguard because it is a little bit heavy but the reason it didn't make it into today's top 5 is it just wasn't that fun to shoot for me and I know some of you out there are gonna be looking at me like dude what do you mean it's no fun for you to shoot it's an AKM whatever it looks like yeah about that I don't know I don't know how to explain it but it just didn't tickle my fancy the way that I thought that it would however this is the Palmetto State KS 47 now this one is essentially an ar-15 that accepts a K mags and shoot seven 62 by 39 this one is an absolute blast to shoot I love it to death I got these little flip up sights on here now this one I didn't expect to like it I thought that it was gonna have a lot of issues I thought that you know it wouldn't cycle properly I was like well what's the point I don't get it and then when I got it and I started shooting it I was like oh that makes a lot of sense and because it's 7 62 by 39 has a little bit higher of a recoil impulse you know being on a pistol I simply put on this muzzle brake on here I forgot the name of this but I'll include a link in the build list for this and I threw a guy's lis trigger in it so here's what surprised me about this number one once you put a muzzle brake on it it is super flat shooting and it shoots very nicely and I was able to hit the target every single time the next thing that I liked about it was you get the sba three brace that's included so you can have it in a shortened format but you can also shoot 7 62 by 39 the next thing that I liked about it was you can use all your other types of ar-15 upgrades that you want for example the guys lead trigger I could put one of those Radian safeties on there if I wanted to and I could also change out this handguard if I wanted to and and that's what I loved about it I am planning on changing out this charging handle because I would like something a little bit larger and ambidextrous but this thing just turned out to be so much fun to shoot the only drawback to this gun is because it's based on the a K style magazines there's no last round bolt hold-open but you know what it's just so much fun that I'm willing to live with it now they do make this in a few different flavors you can get one of these that doesn't have the sba 3 brace and it just has a standard CAC shock wave brace and then the one that has the CAC shock wave brace also has the a2 gas block slash front sight with the plastic you know for grip on it if you get that one that one's about $5.99 or if you wanted to upgrade to get the SBA 3 brace with the M lock and the low profile gas block it's like $6.99 and I figured hey you know for the price and for the reliability in the amount of fun that you have with this gun I felt like it was an amazing deal and I actually shoot this quite often if it comes down to taking this out to the range or taking my a K I take this one they also make it in a 16 inch version as well so for those of you guys that don't want a pistol but you want a full-sized version they have those as well and I believe those are $6.99 as well I definitely recommend these I love them to death I'll include a link in the build list for you the next gun that made it into today's top five is the BCM recce 14 similar to the Faxon one it has a 14 and a half inch barrel with a pin and welded flash hider / compensator I think this is the BCM mod 0 compensator / flash hider it does a little bit of both so that's kind of nice however because it's pin and welded this is considered a 16 inch barrel did a lot of different upgrades on it we also put a guys lead trigger into this one we got the Nikon black force 1000 scope on it and this has been one of those guns I heard a lot of hype about you know over the years it's nothing new but the way that it shoots the balance that it has with it absolutely amazing and that's including shooting it with the OEM trigger I just threw that in there to see how much better it would make it and spoiler alert it really improved the shoot ability of it not that this needed to be improved for those of you who are unaware of the BCM recce for teens the recce series of rifles was designed by a team of Navy SEALs who said this is what we would want in an ar-15 being Navy SEALs and that's kind of how this was designed it also has a chrome-lined barrel so you know for Navy SEALs chrome-lined barrels are typically the most corrosion resistant so that's kind of why they have that I also have the BCM gunfighter 4 grip on it and man this has been a fun gun to shoot the only upgrades that I've done to this gun in regards to upgrades is I put the radiant speed safety on it and the guys ly trigger but it really didn't need those it was just something I wanted to do but this is one of those guns that I was I didn't know what to expect because in my personal experience when something is hyped up a lot I usually get it and I'm disappointed this is one of those guns where it's been hyped up a lot for years and then when received it it still exceeded my expectations so that says a lot about the BCM and if you didn't see my video series on this where I go into what they do for quality insurance it just blows your mind these aren't the cheapest rifles ever but nor are they the most expensive rifles either and when you consider how much quality assurance and quality control go into the manufacturing of these now for the next one you've probably already seen the video series on it it's the video series that we're currently doing it is the bufferless AR pistol build that i've been doing with my Civic type-r build that we're doing on the torque toolbox channel if you're new to this channel I create another channel to do a car build and I wanted this one to match the theme of the car being black and red but this is the BR n1 80s upper receiver I have the sig MPX brace on here that kind of collapses and folds up on it I actually just made a video on this not too long ago kind of talking about my experiences with it but this one has been a very interesting gun to shoot indeed it's bufferless this upper receiver was made by Brownells it's called the brn 180s it's a ten and a half inch upper and it's a modernized version of the original AR 180 they wanted to retain a lot of the old-school features of the AR 180 but they really wanted to make it modern so it it is side charging and it is piston driven and it's very interesting because this little clip right here makes this handguard a quick-detach handguard so you can clean the piston system because you don't got to worry about cleaning the bolt as often and I will say this it's one of the smoothest actions I've ever felt in my life and this is quickly becoming one of my favorite pistols of all time so I highly recommend going and checking out this build series I'm literally still doing the build series right now so I haven't really made my final review about it I've just been giving my first impressions this is proven to be one of the most fun guns that I've ever shot and I'll include all the parts and stuff in the build list for you in case you see anything that you want to pick up yes that is the velocity MCP trigger and then we have I forgot who makes this Odin Works mag release very nice indeed now there is one other gun that didn't make it in today's video series and that's because the gun that I really got in 2018 but it is still a gun that I highly recommend and that gun is the Palmetto State Armory AR pistol build that we started I believe it was November of 2018 this gun was one of those guns that I was kind of not knowing what to expect in the past from what I understand Palmetto state armory has had questionable quality control however in the past two years they have gotten a lot new investors and they've stepped up their game in regards to air quality control now not including the upgrades that we have on here but this AR pistol was can be built for around four hundred and forty five dollars and that includes the sba three brace that doesn't include this trigger that doesn't include this bolt carrier group or these sights or this four grip but I will include links to all of these parts if that's something that you want to check out but I did want to kind of give a big special thank you to ETS group for sponsoring today's video they make all these little translucent magazines that I use in my Glocks and my a RS I never recommend aftermarket magazines for self defense or duty use especially for handguns I like to use them to save my om mags so I don't wear those out as quickly and just use the ETS mags at the range if that's something you're into there will be a 10% off promo code in the build list where we have all the parts accessories and the guns that we talked about in today's video but I do have one more question that I want to ask you guys and let me know this down in the comments section going into 2020 what would you guys like to see in regards to rifles or AR pistols or whatever the case is you know and the reason I'm asking that is I feel like there's only so much you can do with one type of platform I personally tend to gravitate towards the AR platform over others but I'm always willing to try something new just to see how I feel about that you know I'm thinking about doing some semi-auto shotgun stuff that's always a possibility and then you know I've been going back and forth on the long range rifle stuff because I really don't have the patience for a long range shooting I just don't I wish I did but just sitting there and calculating stuff just isn't fun to me but let me know what your thoughts are down in the comments section guys I hope you have an amazing Christmas but until next time guys I love you you guys stay sexy
