Choosing and Fitting a Scuba Mask

[Music] hi folks thanks for joining us here at diverse supply Jacksonville we're here in the mast apartment and we're going to be talking about how to choose a mask and how to fit a mask so what I've got here for you folks to look at is I've got a black skirted black frame mask I also have a clear skirted black frame mask and we're going to take a look at the proper technique to fit a mask this is one of those things that there's kind of a misconception out there and we see it all the time when folks come in to trone or to buy a mask so let me just kind of go over the steps for you one of the things we don't do is we don't put the mask strap over a head we fold it forward we take the mask we lay the mask on our face the best thing to do is to look up take your hands away breathe in through your nose the mask should collapse on your face and when you breathe out the mass should basically fall away now I'm gonna do that with the other mask I happen to know this one already doesn't fit so but it'll give you some understanding of what I'm talking about so I put it on you don't push down you just put it on again look up hands away breathe in breathe in breathe in you see it doesn't collapse and this mask if I take it and put it on my face and push down and breathe in it creates a false seal so you don't want to push down on the mask you want to look up breathe in the mass should collapse look level blow out through your nose and basically the mass should fall into your hands so that's the way you're trying a mask thanks for joining us another question we get here is should I buy a clear skirt or should I buy a black skirt so let's quickly talk about the pros and cons clear skirt even though you can't see perfectly through it when you're wearing it and you're swimming next to your die buddy slightly behind it's real easy out of your peripheral vision to see the movement maybe of their fins maybe an arm coming over through that clear skirt so there's some advantages to utilizing a clear skirt the black skirt a lot of people like especially folks that are into underwater photography or videography and that it gives you framing of what you're looking at and what your potential photos or videos might look like one other question now you see this mask is actually what we call a Panavision mask and if even though it's a black skirt it opens up the side vision that you may not have on a black skirted - lens mask so lots of choices out there for you fit configuration so have fun with it come on in give us a call if you need to and we'll get the right mask for you
