[Music] would you humor me [Music] let's just hold things right there for a second hey everyone welcome back to insation 0 and ever since I've seen this cut scene and seeing Chief throwing the punes at atriox it's been stuck in in the back of my mind because we all know just how powerful Spartans and more precisely the master chief truly is and the fact that he throws three punches and an uppercut in the following scenes and it barely seems to affect atro at all makes me wonder just how hard Chief was hitting atriox and thus just how tough atriox truly is we've seen atrox face off against the three members of red team dominating all three and coming out with basically very superficial Cuts but that particular cut scene is quite dark we can't really tell what's going on entirely it was a complete Ambush maneuver and the Spartans of red team are using an earlier platform of the Mia power assault armor which didn't have quite as large of a scale amplification for Force this cut scene in Halo infinite however is ideal because it's well lit we can see what's happening and since a lot of the variables of this particular scene are known quantities we can use those in calculations to find out exactly what forces we're dealing with with how powerful the chief is and how resilient Gerald Han are so let's quickly roll the rest of this cutscene if you knew how you were going to die now I've done a video before about how hard Spartans can punch but that was based on earlier calculations simplified calculations estimations and the fact that it was really taken upon an augmented Chief not really in armor it was in direct relation to the incident between Chief and the ODSTs immediately following Chief's augmentation and we used some basic performance characteristics of a normal human and then factored on top of that the amplitude and increase of power and speed that would be gained as a consequence of the augmentations but we also know that over time as the spars acclimatized their augmentations still further the effects were further enhanced so this was of a 14-year-old Chief not the 49-year-old armored Spartan wearing the Gen 3 platform of M there and in that earlier video we highlighted the fact that it takes approximately 4,000 Newtons or 407 kg of force to break a bone and that trained Fighters can put out around 2,500 Newtons or about 254 kg of force meaning that for an average mass of around 70 kg punch force is approximately 3.5 times your body Mass again this is with an unaugmented human being the chief is nearly 140 kg so his punch Force if it tracks with that 3.5 time body mass is around 5,000 Newtons or 8 kg of force but it's not it's significantly more than that Chief has the muscle enhancement augmentation which means he's three times as powerful as a normal human being which boosts him up to around 15,000 Newtons or 1,500 kg of force which is three times the force required to break a bone but then on top of that he's also got a nerve enhancement which increases the speed at which he can throw punches and of course there is a relationship between how fast a punch can be thrown and the force behind it translating to a higher impact force and with the nerve augmentation giving him a 300% boost in his reaction time it it gets muddy it it muddies the water significantly it's based on a lot of estimates a lot of estimations it's very vague it's not very scientific observation in this particular video is key which is why I'm focusing in on two very specific strikes that the chief delivers to atriox one is the first left hook because it's the easiest one to track and the other is the immensely forceful uppercut that Chief delivers moments later the reason I picked these two particular gestures is because the first left hook is very easy to track it's very easy to see where the fist has been cocked back as far as it can be and is it a stationary position and we can track through time how how long it takes for that to go to full extension understanding obviously when Chief throws these punches he is a fully trained Elite level Warrior and as a consequence he will be using all of his body mass in those strikes because he is ultimately fighting for his life but aside from being able to track the position of his hand and the extension the rest of his body remains relatively stationary so it's very easy to dial in exactly what forces are at play and I chose the uppercut because it's more of a compound movement where uses both the extension of a throne fist but also the rise of his body during a jump adding to the mass and force of impact striking the mandible of the skull the mandible being the strongest bone within the skull and again before we really get into the numbers here bear in mind Chief threw these blows with full force and it barely slowed atriox down so stepping away from the estimations of body mass and estimations of how hard an average human can punch and the multiplication on top of that the augmentation SK we're going to step away from all of that and assess this frame by frame to give the most accurate estimation of the forces at work here through known quantities and the first thing we want to know is the acceleration of the first left hook Chief throws this punch towards the abdominals of atriox and we know that the chief is just over a 7t tall So based on his position stood in front of atriox and the amount of extension that he had to go through including a slight lean forward in his first left hook we can relatively accurately estimate that Chief's Fist from the furthest cocked back position to actually impacting H rox's abdominals traveled almost exactly 1 meter and he did this in 50 milliseconds so his fist traveling 1 m in a 20th of a second leads to unsurprisingly 20 m/ second but that isn't acceleration that's velocity to find acceleration we need the final velocity the initial velocity and the time in which it took and we know all three of those variables the relative velocity at the very start of the extension of Chief's fist was technically zero the final velocity was 20 m/s and it happened over 50 milliseconds we can Plum that into a very simple calculation where velocity V minus initial velocity U / time equals the acceleration so 20 m/s - 0 m/s / 50 milliseconds equal 400 m/s squared that's acceleration but is only 1/2 of the calculation that we need now we need to go back to mass now again Chief's mass is a known quantity in his armor he weighs 41.3 kg and as you'd expect in this kind of a scenario Chief isn't pulling his punches he's not throwing them with half effort he is fighting for his life so he will be putting in the maximum for Force he's capable of and more than likely putting his entire Mass behind each punch and as we all know from Isaac Newton Mass time acceleration equals force Mass 41.3 kg * acceleration 400 m/s equals 18,5 120 Newtons or 18,4 18 kg of force or for those of you still on the imperial system 40,5 82.6 lb of force we can go a step further than this and calculate roughly the amount of pressure that Chief's fist is exerting when it makes contact with atro's abdominals and from that we simply need to know the area of the front of Chief's fist which we can relatively accurately dial into being 117 mm X 77 mm squared giving us an area of 9,9 mm squared now you simply divide the force over the surface area and you get 20 03 megap pascals or 2,96 per square in and from these two figures we can highlight a couple of things a normal human being Elite level athlete in combat can generate around 800 PSI and around 450 kg of force Chief generates 2,96 PSI and around 18,40 kg of force which makes the pressure that Chief can generate through 3.63 times the pressure of an elite level combat athlete and 40 times the force which is utterly horrifying we know that Chief can punch holes in titanium deck plates as he did so at the end of Halo 3 Chief swings these punches at the abdominals of atriox and it just seems to piss him off that says something for the core strength of the Jal Han I would factor in the fact that this force is 72.4 times the force requ required to break a human's bone but again the chief one isn't fighting a human here and two isn't actually hitting a part of atrox that has bone he's hitting his abdominals and soft tissues react very differently to forces than hard tissues do but it still stands a reason with those levels of force that should have at least lacerated and pulverized some of the soft organs within the abdominals of atriox but now let's move on to the uppercut now the uppercut is a very different Beast altogether because it's actually compound movement it's both the throwing of a punch and a jump simultaneously which obviously uses the legs to exert additional upward force and acceleration based on my frame by frame analysis of this particular strike Chief's fist moves 70 CM over just a period of time of 20 milliseconds which gives a relative punch velocity of 35 m/ second and again taking this figure we can very quickly calculate the acceleration by again taking the final velocity the starting velocity relative to its body and the period of time 35 m/s - 0 m/s divided 20 milliseconds equal 1,750 m/s squared we once again factor in Chiefs mass of 41.3 kg for mass time acceleration equals force and we get an uppercut force of 789,6 75 Newtons or 8, 5346 kg of force but that isn't the end of it his entire body is moving relative to atriox the uppercut is only one half of this calculation we now need to calculate the velocity of Chief's jump and at roughly his lowest point as he's crouching to make the jump Chief compresses down to approximately 6 ft and from the moment that he starts to rise to the moment that his fist reaches the maximum height of atriox being 8 1/2 ft in height Chief has traveled 2.5 ft or around 76.2 cm in 50 milliseconds giving him a jump velocity of 15.24 m/s which I'll just quickly add is 10 times the average for a human being and you know where I'm going next we're putting this through an acceleration calculation to find out just how fast the acceleration is which just so happens to translate to 304.8 m/ second squared and now we know the mass involved and the acceleration involved we can calculate a jump force of 13755 6.24 Newtons or 14268 kg of force and of course this jump happens at the same relative time as the throwing of the Fist so now it's quite simply straightforward in adding these two totals together to find out the combined force that was imparted upon atro's jaw 8,534 kg of force plus 14, 26.8 kg of force equals 94,00 561 kg of force or a little easier to understand 94.5 tons of force it takes 47 kg to break the bone of a human being and chief uppercuts atriox in the face striking atro's mandible the strongest bone of the skull and chief strikes at over 94 tons the fact that that didn't just entirely wipe atro's face from his skull is just an absolute Miracle we can infer from this that brut's mandible bones at the very least is around 232 times stronger than a human beings leading me to The Logical conclusion that the bones of brutes are closer in material properties to that of enamel the hard part of our teeth than they are of bone the simple conclusion Chief can punch at forces of up to 94 tons and atro's face can take it and that paves the way for a most detailed breakdown on the anatomy of the Jal Han and until next [Music] time thanks for watching if you enjoyed the video
