Cheap Bike Pro Rider Vs Super Bike Amateur Rider!

cycling it's great you your bike the open road but over time you start to wonder maybe i need a new bike i mean all the pros are riding the latest gear look how fast they go you search online to find the latest carbon bike do you go arrow or do you go lightweight you make your decision and hover the mouse over the add to basket button and then you think to yourself is it really all about the bike or is it the rider well today we're gonna find out it's time for fast rider bike versus [Music] rider fast bike [Music] joining me today is rory townsend pro rider for uci continental team with sun god he's a bit of a beast and can be found in the thick of the action racing against some of the best riders in the world now you may remember that he dropped me in the five versus one video well rory may be much better than me however can he beat me on a really crap bike today we're not going to be letting rory ride his beautiful canyon arrowed cfr race bike which costs over 10 000 pounds no we're we're going to be giving him this the uh the cheapest road bike on amazon yours 300 pounds new although it's far from you it's probably worth about 50 pounds now you've got to be joking oh my god yeah i mean it's pretty crap though i mean it's slow tires rubbish bearings just sort of inefficient drive train weird gears and handlebars but i have put one key upgrade on it for you which is these wahoo power meter pedals so you will be able to see what what power you're doing um ironically they're probably worth 10 times the price of the bike thanks a lot for that it's always nice to know how hard i'm going yeah slower i'm going at the same time i'll show you what i'm going to be riding hi on the other hand i'm going to be riding this my uh my pinarello f meaning this bad boy i mean it's the latest in aero road bike tech designed to be lightweight as aerodynamic as possible and it's got dura hdi2 electronic gears power meter and i've pimped it out even more with these time trial wheels why well just because i mean they look amazing and um they make it faster and well i want well i just really want to beat you well that's not uci legal it might not be but i mean do you see any uh any uci around here rory no me neither so we're here today in the southwest of england at acton-turville on a course that i know quite well actually from the 5v1 team time show we did when we beat psy on his uh on his time trial and uh actually managed to drop ollie that day as well so i'm hoping to maintain my 100 win record here well today we're gonna go head to head winner takes all man or man time trial right no excuses no rematches and we'll well i'm going to take revenge for you dropping me that's it now i've deliberately chosen the pinnarello f and specs it with these wheels because i wanted as bigger contrast as possible compared to what rory's riding i mean in this configuration this bike it's probably worth around so 15 000 pounds which is ridiculous and about as expensive as a road bike can get and hopefully that buys me enough speed to beat him it's going to be embarrassing if i don't first impressions of the bike not amazing it's obviously heavy the tyres aren't great they look i've just come off a tractor but quite like the bars i feel like i can get myself in a nice aero tuck here so that might help this is the start point of our time trial so rory's going to go off first and i'm going to go off a minute behind him and do my best to catch him how you feeling man yeah feeling good i think i'm going to go out and go out hard and try and uh try and break your spirit going to beat myself in beep beep beep beep [Music] so [Music] gearing's a little bit different to what i'm used to it's not electric for one thing and there's a distinct lack of them as well currently in my biggest gear so i'm not sure i'll be peddling many of these descents [Music] by this point i was trying my absolute best to close the gap to rory but i still couldn't see him [Music] so [Music] i know i've taken my first casualty that's the bar tape [Music] needs to make the most of the hills [Music] final bit now still no silent volley i should hold on keep on turning this gear over [Music] wow oh how's that that was one of the worst experiences of my life something to you wahoo that's the least of my issues huh fair play wow i really thought you're going to get me at the end i was lucky it went up hill so i could see you right you know your results i know my results i'm not confident what what was your time so bearing in mind just give us context you've got the kom and that's something like 12 minutes 26 when we did five versus one yeah the kom is 12 37 right what i've got on here and my time today 14 minutes 24 seconds 14 minutes six seconds [Applause] i mean nice i mean what's happening to the party i mean it's just like i mean fair one going that speed on that because i mean that's pretty i mean i've beaten you but i mean it's 15 000 pounds is what it's taken to beat you i couldn't i could i just couldn't pedal uh i couldn't pedal any sense what power were you doing well not a lot in the end because it was more because because there was so many points where i just didn't pedal so it was like i only averaged about i averaged 314 watts in the lab really which is not not great um well versus the last time i did it um but then on you know on the uphills was how i was just trying to make sure i went as hard as possible in the uphills to try and get some time back so yeah because you couldn't really pedal on the downhill so it's quite that's not fairly representative i could pedal on the downhills and i averaged 316 watts yeah well roughly the same yeah my peak power going on the hills was probably a lot less well we know it's going to be a lot less than yours like so far well let us know what you think about that in the comments section and um i think well rory deserves a thumbs up for going that fast that's the fastest euro bike has
