us to introduce our speaker whom we could not wait to listen to of course and so we welcome our very own our fearless leader brother laurel and sister good afternoon brothers and sisters in christ and since our partner host for this session is cfc germany guten morgen and you know it is about 2 a.m in germany right now and maganda umagas so ba we learned a lot of things last week isn't it yes can you summarize it for us yeah you know last week we heard a wonderful talk by brother dave gerald where we learned what a covenant is and that covenant is at the heart of god's loving design from all eternity and although he has no need of human beings he freely desires to bind himself to us with the very intimacy of marriage bond a bond that is to last a lifetime you know we learned that even though we are unfaithful to god god remains faithful to his covenant with us how well he always reaches out to us through the holy spirit and as brother dave mentioned through prayers service scripture reading and sacraments man is sanctified by the holy spirit and instill in us a new life and this new life our covenant with god will no longer be a set of rules but a lifestyle to holiness but as we all know our lifestyle to holiness is not always a life of comfort and pleasure quite the contrary crisis is part and parcel of our daily lives and everyday journey towards holiness yes and to expound on god's call for us to put off the old self and explain the meaning and purpose of crisis in our lives as god's disciples please allow me to introduce to you our speaker for this afternoon session entitled crisis he has been serving the community in various capacity with his wife cynthia for 31 years currently serving in international council as pastoral formation director please help us welcome brother george campus [Music] defined by my vices i sought my worth at the bottom of a bottle i chase peace through the slow drag of a cigarette i search for fulfillment through the rush of strobing lights night after night stumbling through the door to an empty home i found none of these things instead i stared into the mirror and found a stranger staring back a slave to my own body i was defined by desire a new body crossing my bed every day each of them like a toy an object to play with until i got bored on to the next and the next and the next helping myself to whoever whenever no matter who it hurt but feeling good for a moment would not bring me peace i was numb empty and broken awards accolades success these are the things that define me i thought that climbing to the highest mountaintop and looking down on others would bring me a high that i desperately needed but it brought me lower and lower until i couldn't see the light anymore a hurt in the pit of my stomach continued to grow until awards no longer seemed shiny and people's praises began to feel empty my self-worth was so low that no man or woman on this earth could make me whole but nevertheless but nevertheless god redeemed me god called me to give up a life of selfishness and take up a life of selflessness in his church through persistent prayer and the love of community he forged something broken into something beautiful he turned me into the version of myself he intended me to be that same hunger for sex became a hunger for something more i hungered for a covenant with my god i hungered for a love so full i wouldn't hunger anymore i hungered not for a new body on my bed each day but to receive the same fullness of the body of christ every day my effort to earn an excess of achievements became so small compared to the vastness of his love he filled me with grace he showed me my worth he healed me of my hurts and showed me the power to forgive can't be forgiven [Music] and i am ready to do your way make me ready to do [Music] hello my cfc brothers and sisters from the united states of america and other countries how are you i pray that the pandemic has made all of us a better person let me begin this session with an unforgettable story that tested my faith in synthesis faith in our trust in god in year 2001 cynthia got pregnant with her fourth child at the age of 39. while she was pregnant cynthia developed many complications think finch's life was in danger to the point of having to choose whether to terminate the pregnancy to save her life or to go on despite the risk of losing her and having abnormal cynthia and i were crying for so many days we must make a very difficult decision so many sleepless nights we prayed intensely and finally decided to just put our full trust in our god to continue with the pregnancy just hope in his loving mercy it was a case of lord i will be done that baby is now a 19 year old beautiful and bubbly lady bringing so much joy to the family it was a battle between life and death between putting our trust in god's plan or being enslaved with fear of what might happen this one of the crisis that we have encountered as husband and wife brothers and sisters welcome to the second talk of this wondrous weekend entitled crisis so what is crisis the dictionary defines crisis as a time of intense difficulty trouble or danger we can easily relate with crisis or to crisis with the covet 19 pandemic affecting the whole world right now we can also recall how a series of strong fires earthquakes floods war hunger and drug have destroyed property and even claim lives when we think of crisis we cannot help but also remember those very challenging moments in couples for christ way back in 2007 and again in 2009 all these events led us to confusion frustrations great distress broken relationships enormous problems and struggling to surmount the situation at hand on a personal level we are also very familiar with the many crises we have experienced or are still experiencing today in our health and finances in our career in our workplace in our marriage and in our family so is crisis bad it can be yes with the hardships difficulties and sufferings it may bring but it can also be a blessing yes a blessing that leads us to growth innovation greater learning understanding and greater love in times of crisis we discover who we are what kind of fiber we are made of let us not waste the crisis let us use it to spark a greater longing for him who is holy again never waste a crisis brothers and sisters every crisis is an opportunity to encounter god in a deeper way it is a call for steadfast faith and unfailing trust in the faithfulness of god it is the conviction that no matter what happens we will strongly hold on to his promise that he is with us every moment of our lives not just holding us in his hands but keeping us in his heart so beautiful why let us be inspired from the from the letter of saint paul to romans chapter 5 verses 3 to 5. not only that but to even both of our afflictions knowing that affliction produces endurance endurance proven character and proven character hope and hope does not disappoint because the love of god has been poured out into our hearts to the holy spirit that has been given to us crisis will lead us to christ not away from christ whatever we face today let us be strengthened with this beautiful truth where crisis is christ is he is ever with us in every crisis christ speaks okay in every crisis christ speaks the greatest crisis of all is what we go through intelligently spiritually because the crisis happening outside okay are reflections of what is happening inside of us within us my dear brothers and sisters i would like to ask you the following three questions how is your faith and your relationship with god how about your values are they founded on where what does our covenant with god in cfc mean to you you know choosing between sin and christ okay it's not a crisis the real crisis yes the real crisis is when you choose what is not of christ it is when we give into something that is not in accordance with god's will it is when we decide to go against what is right good and just thus the consequences of the choosing arise brothers and sisters i would like to share with you the prophecy of cynthia during the metro manila mission court gathering last january to 2021 and i read my dear couples for christ you are called strongly this year not just to be holy but to be prophets i need prophets to admonish remind guide lead encourage correct and listen well to me in my message i need prophets at this point in time i need people who would not be afraid to confront themselves who would be fearless to say the truth i am calling you to be my prophets in cfc and to the world first be a prophet to each other by speaking the truth i will pour out my spirit on all of you but you must open yourselves and learn to listen well to me and not to yourselves do not be afraid to know and see who you really are my love for you is unconditional the israelites wandered in the desert for 40 years until all of those who did not listen were gone and there was a new generation if you want to cross the 40th year learn to listen and listen well this has been affirmed by the new archbishop of manila cardinal vincola i will listen this is a strong call for all of us in couples for christ i directed to listen and listen well to god's voice and obey his words for us not only to cross our 40th year but also to remain in his favor in the years to come let us discuss some of the crisis that is happening around us and in us the first one is crisis in the church the catholic church today finds itself in the midst of a crisis the scandals left slapping light deeply hurt the church and wounded it the flock is scattering though many are are coming back and converting many two are living especially the young ones either to another faith or to the church of the nuns n-o-n-e well the church is doing its best to reach out to the flock and some shepherds yes really bravely set off in search of those lost and wondering sadly others are driving them away further from the fold the church has seen and weathered numerous crises in its two thousand years and always one or more of its saints priests and bishops stood up and rallied the people encourage the faithful or defend the faith since we are also very much part of the church in crisis god is calling you you you all of us to be his prophets we might have a saint in the making here in couples for christ it might be you or your spouse or your friend the crisis within us is a crisis of identity a dilemma of the old versus the new self brothers and sisters saint paul reminds us his letter the colossians and i read put to death therefore what is earthly in you in this you two once walk when you were living in them but now you must put them all away becoming a new creation in christ means that we live on a whole new level no longer clinging to our former ways however most of us suffer from a crisis of identity a dilemma brothers and sisters oftentimes we we seem to prefer our former way of life over the new life god desires for us now let us look into ourselves okay personal identity crisis like the israelites we also forget that we are god's chosen ones holy and beloved we also sometimes focus too much on our past mistakes and on what we lack instead on focusing on god's mercy and forgiveness in the process we suffer from an identity crisis we end up forgetting our identity while settling for our former way of life instead of pursuing the newness of life god is offering so crisis happens when we forget that we are his beloved sons and daughters forget that we are redeemed by god's love forget that we are empowered by his holy spirit at this point let us listen to the story of our sister sister connie gregorio sister connie hi and thank you for having me my name is connie shaptic and this is my story even as an infant i had an innately intimate relationship with my father many people talk about how their mothers were influential and nurturing in their life for me it was my dad no one else could make me laugh or comfort me and my nickname was papa only because from the first year i could speak i would say i want my papa we came to america with only fifty dollars in my dad's pocket we did everything together he taught me how to sacrifice and save money we would take vacations together sometimes just me and him i always was told that i was my dad's favorite but we would never say that at home because we didn't want my sister to get jealous but in my heart and mine i really really believed i was the favorite one day my dad told me that my parents were getting divorced i was more surprised and sad and i thought well i'll have my dad all to myself now that is how confident i was of his love for me oddly enough my mom still lived in the house we did switch bedrooms and my mother got a new bed and i moved my twin bed into my dad's room so now we were roommates sometime after that my mom left other women took up his time one day i came out of my room and there is a woman in the kitchen [Music] about two weeks after that he didn't come home one night and i woke up to him shaking me saying come and meet your mother that's right he had eloped with a woman and i didn't even know her name i went to go meet her and it was the woman that i had seen in the kitchen a couple weeks ago he asked me what i thought about that and i told him the worst thing anyone could ever say to anyone they want to see go to heaven i said i just want you to be happy things were tense at home my sister didn't get along with her at all and i'm not even sure she tried me i'm not confrontational for love of my dad i let my mom i let her replace my mom in his house she had my dad throw away things that i left on floor and she told him it was okay to read our diaries and he did whatever he did though i knew that he still loved me eventually she came to the ultimatum it's either your kids or me within two weeks my sister and i were packed up and shipped off to my mom's house until we could figure out what to do about school my sister had a friend who took people in and we paid her family so we could have a place to stay near our school there were nine people there including a teenager teenage cousin who had a baby but her husband was shot there were also two marines who lived there and one of them had a girlfriend they would always gossip about her and said that they were sharing her they had so many pets and they all had fleas and you could see them on my socks and i would my socks would be stained with the blood from scratching the flea bites i didn't want my dad to feel bad how we were living so i didn't complain there was a bathroom in it with a tub that they used for storage my sister told me that no one used it because that's where her friend got raped by the brother's best friend the father was alcoholic he gave us a creepy feeling when he looked at us they did not care if we went to school or not no one thought i was coming back to school because i had been gone so long but i managed to finish eighth grade and i still was at the top of my class my sister and i moved from place to place until my mom bought a house in our school district my dad took us out one time and my sister was just crying and crying he felt bad when he told us remarrying was a big mistake and he was going to divorce his wife i knew it i knew my dad loved us and he was gonna come back and divorce his wife and things were gonna get back to the way they were but he never came i finished my freshman year and he was still married we actually saw him less and less on those times that he did visit us we always heard the same story that he regretted getting married and he was going to divorce her but he never did after four years i went to college at riverside i didn't have a car so he would pick me up on fridays and drop me back off at school on sundays i thought if i move closer we can have some time to do more things instead of always spending time in the car so i transferred to fullerton one day i had lunch at his house i was i accidentally left my fancy interview shoes there and she found them she got mad and said i was never welcomed there again even if she wasn't home my dad said this made him upset and for sure he would divorce her because she's not even trying to get to know his kids but he never did i graduated college but he never came for me i went off to medical school in chicago and my dad visited me there for parents week i didn't hear much from him in between but i knew he still loved me and i would always tell people how much he inspired me and he was the reason i became a doctor he's the best dad ever my sister attended my graduation and so did my mom who brought her new boyfriend my dad came son's wife he complained that after all these years she still did not want to get to know us and he said he was going to divorce her again but i came back to california because he never did i finished my residency and got a great job i was raided by house and i looked in cerritos because that's where his our old house was that he rented out i thought he could still drop by whenever he came to collect the rent i bought a four bedroom four bath with a giant pool i knew he loved to swim but he didn't come i imported a small bamboo hut from the philippines and had it reassembled by the pool so he could feel like he was backing baguio again i waited but he didn't come before i got married i told my husband to be that one day my dad is gonna leave his wife and come back to live with me and i'm gonna take care of him is that okay with you because if it's not then we can't get married you know my husband not only said yes but he also learned to cook filipino food for my dad but my dad didn't come i gave him two grandchildren and he still didn't come in 2013 i diagnosed my father with dementia he couldn't remember where he spent the night i started him on meds took him to all his doctor's appointments and initiated my duties as his medical dpoa eventually we moved my family to orange county which is where my dad lived my sister would bring him to our house and complain that his wife was stealing all his money that's made him very very mad and he said he's definitely going to divorce her now because she's stealing all his money this made my sister happy because she never really did get along with my stepmother and she was ready to help him with the divorce proceedings but he didn't come in the spring of 2019 my stepmother asked me to take my dad back his dementia progressed so much that she couldn't take care of him anymore just so you know i already lived with my husband two children in med in elementary school a brother-in-law and my father-in-law all under the same roof but i said yes what went through my mind was i will get him out of the house where he has been living in sin as a divorced catholic he'll be able to take the eucharist again my father had been unable to take the eucharist for over 35 years and he was just a confession away from atonement in the fall of 2019 we all moved in together at christmas i took him to the first family party he'd been to in maybe about 40 years my cousin turned me and asked me incredulously why are you taking care of him after everything he did to you i wouldn't do it but i answered her he's still my dad to me there's nothing to forgive and now he's back he didn't come for me i went to get him but he's back after all isn't that what god does with us his children he meets us where we are and brings us home my joy is the joy of the father and the particle son the joy of jesus and the lost sheep we're back together again brothers and sisters taking care of dad brings me closer to god he was meant to be with me as part of his faith journey so we could make amends and prepare him for the hereafter today i relish the days when my dad recognizes me and calls me papa only my name is connie gregorio sheptic and this is my story thank you very much sister connie the crisis brought about by the divorce of your parents did not let you lose and forget your identity as a beloved daughter of god thus you're able to triumph over frustrations with positivity and love god rewarded you your innermost desire to be with your father has been granted now let us take up the next crisis identity crisis in marriage when we talk about crisis and identity we cannot help but wonder how extra difficult it could be for two people who are married to each other brothers and sisters imagine this okay imagine this god buys two people who may be experiencing their own identity crisis individually okay aside from this on a daily basis they also need to deal with all the other pressures and stresses and complexities of married and family life but it's also exactly because of this crisis which brings to the fore the beauty and wisdom of god's purpose and plan for marriage as a vocation and as a sacrament being a vocation marriage is a calling two unique individuals with their own identities being united as one through love sharing a mystery of oneness the man no longer lives for himself nor the woman only for herself and whatever crisis come their way they face it and overcome it as one and how do they overcome it this is where marriage as a sacrament comes in for through this sacrament the couple receives the grace that perfects the human love of the spouses strengthens their indissoluble unity and sanctifies them on the way to eternal life thus marriage despite the many crises will eventually lead the couple to holiness to the grace that comes from god the last crisis that i would like to be talking about is identity crisis as cfc and in cfc what is our current reality in corpus for christ as a community and as a member of couples for christ with the pandemic a lot of things happened and happening how much have changed in our way of doing things and i would like to quote cardinal tatlin in one of his recent homilies let us turn our parishes our schools our catholic hospitals and all the places that we are serving into a home brothers and sisters is cfc is couples for christ home to you is your household okay home to you is your household leader a loving and caring figure the worst crisis cfc could have is when we choose to forget the christ-centered relationship that defines and characterizes couples for christ christ family and community when we lose our trust and confidence with each other when we become blind to the needs of one another when we become deaf to hear the voices and silent cries of the people under our care when we become mute to speak about the truths we shall we must proclaim when we become cold and unfeeling this happens when couples for christ ceases to be a home why is it that leaders and members become disoriented and lose for war in serving why is it that some yfc sfc members when they get married decide not to join cfc why is it that we have brothers and sisters leaving cfc and joining other catholic communities why is it because they or we do not see any more identity both as brothers and sisters in christ as a community as people of god is it because we are no longer a community that corrects guides encourages and supports with love how we become judgmental and caring and indifferent brothers and sisters we are god's family couples for christ is home it's a glimpse of heaven in us and for us because christ is in us another crisis may be forthcoming and we may not realize it we are now accustomed with virtual prayer meetings teaching nights assembly celebrations even virtual holy mass we are getting used to all these virtual gatherings we are the verge of giving in to the thought that these virtual activities continue even when the situation improves and the government allows face-to-face gatherings simply because it is more convenient for just at home no traffic more economical and safer remember relationships do not prosper and deepen as it should in the virtual world technology keeps us connected and we are thankful but we must not be so used to it to replace personal encounters now we are restricted okay understandable however we can find ways to reach out to each other in a personal way unless we become mindful of our true identity as a community as a couples for christ we might find ourselves in a relationship crisis cfc would lose its identity but all are not lost we can still do something we must claim our true identity from colossians chapter 3 says do not lie to one another saying that you have put off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator the only way to overcome our identity crisis is by always choosing and claiming amidst all of life's distractions and difficulties our true identity bishop robert baron says there is a cacophony of voices calling out to you there are a thousand influences pulling you this way and that way what is the one necessary thing it is to listen to the voice of jesus as he tells you of his love and as it tells you who you are listen and listen well brothers and sisters there are three important things we must remember first we are not defined by our concupiscent nature the strong desire which is uh inherited through the original sin it drives us to follow our own passions at the rest of our own good and the good of others examples last not just pertaining to the last of flesh but also to the lust of power authority material possession fame and many more it is the we it is this weakness that leads us to fall so easily into sin second our identity is founded in god in this image and likeness we are made of through jesus passion death and resurrection we were not only washed and restored from original sin but also given a new life as god's children through christ the third the awareness of this constant crisis within us is an important starting point for renewal we have inclinations to do even because of our fallen nature but we also have inclinations to do good because we are made in the image of god now that we know this we must make a choice may we choose god and the life that he offers our true identity will lead us to hope and victory brothers and sisters crisis has a purpose in our life the crisis we go through are meant to purify us in the same way that the islands stayed in the desert for 40 years we must also go through our own wilderness experience in order to purify us and establish in us our true identity for the purpose of preparing us for our vision our mission amidst our crisis there is always hope our crisis will pave way with the fulfillment of god's plan in our lives in the case of the israelites god gave them the possession of the promised land in the case of saint peter jesus created a miracle for peter remember that and distorted to establish him astarak upon which christ will build his church yes brothers and sisters the struggles are both painful and difficult but it is necessary and our hope lies in the confidence that the one who began work in us will continue to complete it until the day of christ jesus the holy spirit who sanctifies us also provides us with all the grace that we need to rise above our crisis god sees the future and he knows the present he brought us out of our egypts and called each one of us to greatness god is making you you you and me all of us ready and we'll and he will use us for a special mission that will bless the world now let us listen to the sharing of sister pat villanueva sister pat january 11 this year i brought my husband to the hospital for an angiogram since it was a five-hour procedure i decided to go visit my parents my mom was not feeling well and she had fever and cough the doctors found five blocked arteries and eric needed to undergo heart bypass operation but because it was was not taking his aspirin the surgery was scheduled in two weeks little did i know that i was going to face the greatest crisis of my life two days later dad mom and my brother tested positive for covet 19. we were caught by surprise because my mom who suffered from liver cirrhosis was extra careful she hardly left the house meanwhile i developed and started coughing i too tested positive while eric's test result came out negative i was happy because he was preparing for his surgery i fervently prayed to god for healing for the four of us praise god my symptoms were mild i went on isolation eric and our son patrick took care of all my needs mom on the other hand was getting better then eric started to have fever and cough and decided to have a second test while waiting for his result mom called to inform me that my brother was rushed to the hospital because his oxygen level went down to 88. i was confused how could that be i thought we were all getting better the next day my sister called mom was rushed to the hospital and she asked me to stay with my dad and as much as we were both covey positive i said yes while i was with my dad eric informed me he too tested positive now there were five of us sick with covet i was disconcerted should i stay with my dad or be with my husband eric was very supportive he understood that i had to stay with my dad patrick took care of him at home the succeeding days were like a roller coaster ride i was on my knees supplicating to god for his mercy and healing we called upon brethren's and cfc for prayers brothers and sisters came to our rescue sending cook meals praying the rosary and offering mass for our healing eric's condition started to deteriorate his fever was not getting or was not going away and his oxygen level remained low my mom's condition was getting worse i was told by her nurse that she might not last the night we were hoping for a miracle in the wee hours of the morning we got a phone call from the hospital my mom did not make it it was a very sad moment a very scary one for me i have never experienced death in the family i found myself in deep pain and very exhausted i begged god for the grace to be able to accept his will the lord filled my heart with strength and peace as i faced the toughest storm ever as if it was not enough my brother's condition was getting worse too he was moved to the icu for possible intubation but by the miracle of god and the powerful intercession of mama mary and our own mom in heaven his condition got better that he did not need to be intubated [Music] meanwhile eric's fever was not going away even after 10 days and his oxygen level kept going down his doctor told him to go to the hospital again we turned to prayers we proceeded with a virtual nine-day novena for the repose of my mom mass cards kept on coming there was an overflow of flowers and financial help meals were still delivered at our houses while still grieving over my mom's death the four of us my dad my brother eric and myself slowly recuperated my brother was released from the hospital after one month of confinement the steadfast love of god never ceases his mercy never comes to an end they are new every morning indeed great is god's faithfulness after a month eric recovered from covid and was scheduled for surgery though his lungs were not fully recovered the doctors decided to proceed with his heart surgery praise god for a very successful open heart surgery he was discharged after four days in the hospital and came home to recover i had to help him walk bait and do other stuff i was just glad that i could take care of him now when i did not have the chance during his kobe days because i was taking care of my dad thank you all for your prayers love and support you have sustain us and help us cope and yes though this year has started with intense pain and trials i truly believe that despite the crisis christ is christ is ever present christ is in control christ sustains us and he gives us peace and so in our every opportunity that we that we get to witness for god we do not miss on the opportunity to glorify him and pose on all the goodness that he has done for our family again thank you all and may god be praised thank you sister pat for your powerful sharing indeed god prepares us for a special mission to bless others with steadfast faith and unwavering trust in god's compassion and mercy led you to triumph over the trials and tests of life you chose to remain in christ in indeed where crisis is christ is may god bless you and brother eric and your family in your mission to bless others now this brings me to the last point finally our true identity reveals our mission and points to its pursuit speaking of mission this is an opportune time to reflect on the story of queen esther let us watch this short video king azuris was the king of persia many years earlier when cyrus was king he sent some of god's people back to judah to rebuild the temple in jerusalem some of god's people stayed in persia god's people were called jews because they were from judah the king of persia chose esther to be his queen esther didn't tell the king that she was a jew [Music] one day mordecai heard that haman an important leader who worked for the king was planning to kill all the jews mordecai was upset he was a jew he didn't want all the people he loved to be killed mordecai and all the jews cried esther didn't know what was wrong she sent a messenger to ask mordecai why all the jews were upset mordecai told esther about haman's evil plan you have to do something mordecai said ask the king to stop haman ask him to save the jewish people esther sent a message back to mordecai no one can approach the king unless the king calls for that person first esther said the punishment is death unless the king holds out his scepter then you may live you're a jew mordecai said if you don't stop him and he will kill you too maybe this is why you are the queen maybe god put esther in the palace to save her people esther asked mordecai and the jews to fast for three days then esther would go to the king even if it meant she might die on the third day esther went to the king he saw esther and held out his golden scepter what is it queen esther the king asked what do you want to ask me i'll give you anything up to half of my kingdom esther said would you and haman come to a feast today so haman and the king went to esther's feast after eating the king said what do you want queen esther i'll give you anything up to half of my kingdom come to my feast tomorrow esther said the king agreed the next day haman and the king went to esther's feast after eating the king said what do you want queen esther i'll give you anything up to half my kingdom esther spoke up there is a plan to kill me and my people the king replied who is responsible for this plan this evil enemy haman esther said the king was angry he punished haman and made a law to keep the jewish people safe from their enemies brothers and sisters a very powerful short video in the midst of a very difficult crisis esther drew strength from her identity by god's love and providence she became queen and there is a great reason behind it she became queen for such a time as this the impending massacre of his people given the choice whether to remain quiet while safely hiding her to identity or to act on behalf of her people esther chose to act setting aside her own safety esther stood for her faith and for her people and by her courage she changed the course of jewish history our mission therefore becomes our response to this love the question jesus asked peter do you love me and so like peter and the rest of the disciples we strive to be fishers of men and to make disciples of all nations as brothers and sisters remember the following believe we have a christ that leads us through crisis remember second one remember always to choose worship over worry faith over fear compassion over convenience to overcome whatever crisis we are facing just like queen esther let us call upon the lord to the following number one intense prayer intense prayer is to pray harder you know this very well h is holy ark holy time with god a is adoration eucharistic adoration r is rosary daily and preferably with the family d is divine mercy the chaplain and the three o'clock prayer is the eucharist daily mass and r is reconciliation at least once a month pray harder brothers and sisters the second one is fasting fasting is prayer square it's a very powerful weapon the practice of fasting is not new to us we fast during ash wednesday and good friday and we abstain from meat every friday of land but you know historically catholic adults fast and abstain from meat all fridays of the year okay all fridays of the year this is prescribed by the 1983 canon law let us take this seriously it is fast from me all fridays of 2021 this fasting is our form of penance and an offering of sacrifice as we face the many crises in our lives brothers and sisters crisis will always be part of our journey to holiness it is meant to purify us that we will have a clearer view of our true identity as god's children crisis is a great opportunity to become the person yes the person we are meant to be remember always that we have a christ who journeys with us in every crisis in our life this is your brother george campos reporting to you from manila philippines thank you very much and may god be praised through flowing tears hallelujah through growing fears [Music] we still find the voice somehow to sing [Music] still we sing hallelujah [Music] when hurts him [Music] when our days are long and rough still our faith is we are so we sing hallelujah has risen and conquered sin in him we know [Music] hallelujah [Music] to live [Music] yes [Music] night at the hour of our death with our last remaining breath let us sing hallelujah [Music] hello we sing hallelujah let us pause for a while and feel god's presence in our midst as we pray [Music] lord many other trials we face we are sometimes overwhelmed by the challenges we need to hurt them so many uncertainties but we have come to know and believe in the love that you have for us pour on us the spirit of your wisdom that in our striving to be holy may we see you in every situation in our life and put on love in everything that we do give us the grace to listen well and to follow you and never forget who we are our true identity as your children and us couples for christ though we are uncertain of what the future holds there is one certainty that gives us peace you are the you are the one holding our future and so we pray our father who art in heaven hallowed be thy name thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil amen being the father the son and holy spirit amen [Music] wow thank you brother george for that powerful talk and as well to our sharers sister pat and sister connie for that inspiring testimony one of the things that struck me is when brother george told the story about the prophecy made by sister cynthia regarding cfc not just to be holy but to be prophets prophets who are not afraid to confront themselves and fearless to say the truth yeah i remember it because it was the same sermon by our priest about two weeks ago in his homily you know where he said the same thing that we are to be prophets especially at this time and not to be afraid to say the truth you know another thing that caught my attention but is that crisis may be a personal crisis or crisis in our marriages crisis in our community cfc and even crisis in our church that it can be bad but it can also lead us to growth innovation greater learning understanding and greater love whatever crisis we face today should always lead us to christ if we look to the eyes of love we will view suffering from a different perspective remember when we put on love we see crisis as god's love in action in our life so to wrap up let me tell you a quick story you may have heard this before but this story sums up our topic for this afternoon so the story goes like this once there was this woman who goes to a silversmith to watch the process of refining silver you know quoting that that's the reason why our uh creative's song was refiners fire you know as she watched the silver smith he held a piece of silver over the fire and let it heat up he explained that in refining silver one needed to hold the silver in the middle of the fire where the flames were the hottest as to burn away all the impurities so the woman thought about god holding us in such a hot spot we call it crisis then she thought again about the verse that says he sits as a refiner and purifier of silver that's found in malachi chapter 3 verse 3. you know she asked the silversmith if it was true that he had to sit there in front of the fire the whole time the silver was being refined the man answered yes he not only had to sit there holding the silver but he had to keep his eyes on the silver the entire time he was on the fire for if the silver was left a moment too long in the flames it would be destroyed the woman was silent for a moment and then she asked the silversmith so how do you know when the silver is fully refined the silversmith smiled and answered oh that's easy when i see my reflection in it amen to that amen truly it is amazing how god reminds us our true identity truly and you know what that is as his sons and daughters so with that may you enjoy the rest of our conference and may god be praised [Music] six what the g6 stand for go gold and global for god's greater glory what is the 2021 g6 mission for the only companion then a glimmer of hope when i met my wife finally a chance for happiness but it was only temporary i began to live a double life yet god kept knocking and an invitation from couples for
