Hello everyone. I am now in Osaka, Japan. I would like to introduce three areas I picked up that you should be careful when traveling in Osaka. I have previously made a video on the subject of "Unsafe Places in Japan," in which I introduced several areas in Osaka. This time, I would like to confirm which areas are dangerous and why they are unsafe by actually visiting them Let's go there. The first one is the "Airin area," which is famous as the most dangerous place in Japan. One of the nearest stations is JR Shin-Imamiya station. Many people use this station because the famous sightseeing spot "Shinsekai" is located just a short walk away. If you go out of the East Exit (Tsutenkaku Exit) of Shin-Imamiya Station and go to the left, you will find that "Shinsekai, If you go in the opposite direction, you will be heading for "Airin area" which is famous as an unsafe area. This area is still a main street, so there are restaurants and police, so it doesn't seem too dark. For now Walking straight down the main street, you will see a very cheap supermarket in Osaka. When you reach here, turn right after this supermarket. This area also has graffiti on the shutters, so you get the sense that the area is a bit unsafe. As you walk around, you will notice that prices are unusually cheap. A 50-yen vending machine. This one is also 60 yen. It's 50 yen, as if it were a matter of course. Look at this. The accommodation fee is 1,500 yen. That's very cheap. There are simple accommodations everywhere, ranging from a few hundred yen to a thousand yen per night. This is the area where Triangle Park is located in the center of the Airin area. Sorry, camera is blurry. Many elderly workers and homeless people roam the streets with alcohol in their hands, sitting around soaking up the liquor or sleeping on the streets after getting too drunk, creating a unique atmosphere. A lot of police officers have arrived and something is going on in the atmosphere. It seems that the demonstration is about to start. A facility that provides job placement services for workers has been closed down,
Residents and former workers are protesting against the closure of the facility that provides jobs to workers. I negotiated with the filmmakers and was given the OK to film the event. People are cheerful and friendly. What do you drink? Always. This. It's cheap. Is it alcohol? This. Yes, alcohol. I'll buy this uncle a drink. She bought it for me. Thank you. Sankaku Park
A place of rest for homeless people
It is also famous for a soup kitchen for homeless people. Airin Labor Public Employment Security Office
Day laborers are given jobs for the day from here. This large building used to be a symbol of the Airin area.
It was relocated due to aging and other factors. Apartments for those who are struggling to make a living, those who don't have a job, and people like that can move in. There are many places like this. Moreover, there are many day job openings in this area, so there are people who stay here, get a day job in the morning, make some money, and just barely make ends meet. When you actually walk around the area, I don't think it should be dismissed with the words "scary" or "bad image. The reason why the area is not safe is because there are many people who are not in a high position in society, who come here (in the Airin area) as a last hope, stay at a lodging for about 1,000 yen, and look for a job at the employment security office every day. It's not so much that the area is unsafe, but rather is open, tolerant and accepting of such people It may be a warm town. The person I happened to meet today was very friendly and nice, but there may be people who are suffering from various problems, so I think it is important not to provoke such people. In fact, there were quite a few places where I thought I shouldn't film too much. It made me think. I just came back from "Super Tamade. The "Airin area" we just went to was just around the corner to the right from here. The area we are heading to now is called "Tobita Shinchi," which is just around the corner to the left from here. I would like to go there now. Tobita Shinchi is famous as "one of the largest amusement quarters in Japan. From here, we will proceed through an old-fashioned shopping street. All you see are karaoke pubs. It's usually the same design, stores too. They are long and horizontal with a counter. This area is interesting for foreigners who happen to find it, so they'll just walk around for a bit, right? If you go down the street, there are some places that are not very nice, especially if women enter. It is a place where taking pictures for the fun of it can get you into trouble. We are about to enter an area called Tobita Shinchi, but we can't take pictures from here, so we will stop here. Can you see it there?
You can see some lanterns, that is the area known as "Tobita Shinchi's amusement quarters". It is only about 1 km away from Shinsekai, a famous sightseeing spot, so it is not impossible that you may find yourself here without realizing it. It is totally possible, isn't it? If you walk through the shopping street like this, turn right and enter the lantern area, you will already be in that area. It's easy to just wander around and get there. If you take pictures there, you may be warned or even scolded. If you see the lanterns, you should be careful. The atmosphere changes so dramatically that you can tell when you see it. It's like this, but everything says "ryotei (restaurant)" on it, In reality, it's a restaurant where the customers have a free love affair with the girls there, and after that, they are free to do whatever they want. The customers are just paying to have dinner together, so it's not illegal. This street and this street are the famous "Youth Street" and "Main Street," right? What makes them unique? The quantity is large and the quality is high. The level of girls is high Are there about a hundred?
There are quite a few. There is only one takoyaki shop here, and this place is supposed to stand like a place to meet up afterwards when multiple people come to play. There are special areas like this in Japan. The entrance has the atmosphere of a ryotei restaurant, but the women are sitting in the middle, and the women are all lit up. An older woman next to her, sort of like a receptionist. It seems that customers see the woman, nominate her, and enter. Right? This area is a normal public street, so it's not against the law at all to enter, and it's not against the law to take pictures either The women who work there are prepared to work in various ways so taking pictures of them or making a pass at them is an act that should not be done in that sense, because there is a privacy issue for them. Basically, only men who are willing to pay to go there are not allowed to go. For example, you can't go there as a couple, so please be careful here. Next, we came to Kuromon Market. This market is completely lined with stores for foreign tourists. Before the Covid, this market was known as a rip-off market, and there were many shops selling things at very high prices, but after the Covid, there has been no information about it so I would like to verify whether there are still such vestiges. I'm off then. It's only a five-minute walk from Dotonbori. That's right. If you are walking around town, you will naturally find it. It's quite conspicuous, so I'm sure you'll want to go in anyway. I wonder what it is like. I knew it. Everything is written in Japanese, English, Chinese, and Korean. How much does it usually cost? About 4,800 yen. That's pretty cheap. Are only foreigners coming here? Not only foreigners, but also Japanese. I see that the number is increasing quite a bit. Thank you very much. The fruit shop right after you enter Kuromon Ichiba. The prices are quite reasonable, like 100 yen for this. The father was very friendly and talked with me a lot. He taught me a lot, so I bought some. The father told me that there are many Japanese customers these days, so there are not many stores that rip you off like that, He said that if you look for it, there are places that sell seafood for prices that foreigners wouldn't understand. Raw oysters 780 yen.
They are big. That's normal for this area. Sea urchin donburi (sea urchin bowl): 2,800 yen, I think it's reasonable. ocellated octopus What is this? It's a beehive. It looks good for health, 3000 yen for this?
Isn't that a little expensive? But I guess it includes the price of grilling. There is a lot of seafood. But I guess crabs cost this much. I don't know what the market price is. But I guess you can't find crabs at a Japanese market for 8,800 yen. Many of the ones here are over 5,000 yen. I don't think Japanese people can buy them. It's not something a casual traveler can afford. I think you can eat the food you buy here in the store. They are baking, It's huge. It smells so good, so fragrant. The place is huge. It seems like it goes on forever. They are sweet potato chips. They are salty and delicious. The store where I just bought them is very popular and there's a long line. Maybe it's a little expensive. It's written only in Chinese, not in Japanese. It's a little expensive. I guess it would be cheaper if converted to US dollars because of the weak yen. Wagyu beef and Kobe beef are very different in price. For someone who doesn't know so much about meat, I think Wagyu beef is tasty enough. That's right. Whether it is worth paying four times the price is a matter of opinion. So, I have just visited the Kuromon Market. There were a lot of things at prices you wouldn't see at a regular market.
That's right. There were many items that were priced over 10,000 yen, and they were all lined up in a row. There are not many markets that sell like that. So, to be honest, there is nothing to compare. It really depends on the person whether he or she is willing to buy the product at that price. I don't know if it's a rip-off compared to other markets. I felt that Kuromon Market had its own market price. I don't think Japanese people would buy it easily. There were quite a few foreign tourists buying Kobe beef steak skewers that cost 4,000 yen each, I felt a little saddened by the low cost of living in Japan, or rather, the decline of Japanese prices. However, in the Kuromon Market, there were not only expensive seafood but also many snacks that you can casually eat and walk around, so I felt that it was fine for tourists to come and enjoy themselves. We are now in Shinsekai. Tsutenkaku Tower can be seen here. There were many places that I couldn't show in the video this time so it was difficult to explain in words but I hope it came across well. I hope it came across well. I hope you will refer to it when you come to Osaka on your trip to Japan. That's all for today's video. Bye-bye~.
