said he's come back with 11 points and 7 rebounds regardless Doherty has taken his place among the league's best centers a group that includes Robinson Ewing and Elijah on when Buckman takes a look at how Daugherty got there his babyface was a distinct contrast to his level-headed nature raised in rural North Carolina this 16 year old father knew his future I don't play professional basketball this is not one of my goals I'll have to get out life you know a cope with life and do the job just like everybody else and I feel I have a good academic background it'll help a whole lot the youngster got his education at North Carolina and found work in Cleveland six years ago read you better a very good career so far here in the pros you've obviously Matoo it fast you were young for college young for the pros how did that affect you how it affected me a lot you know I went to college I was just turning 16 and you know the big thing was not exactly going to college the big thing for me was getting my driver's license so I had to apply that and learn and coach Smith really nurtured me through that situation I mean he didn't baby me he brought me to the harsh reality of society that I had to I was on my own more or less but Hanna he kind of monitor he let me grow and then you know turn him 20 here I'll step into the pro game and I'm playing a very physical aggressive position and it was tough I mean I was playing against men and I was a young boy and it was just a tough task to learn one of your strengths is passing what did you use perfect out of it actually perfected that playing with my older brothers they wouldn't let me play with them because you know they shot the basketball all the time all the way they let me plays if I pass the ball to him so if I didn't pass voice smack me or something Dougherty is known to run the court all out he wears his number 43 in honor of another pretty fast mover stock-car legend Richard Petty I met Richard Petty I was a very very young man you know eight nine ten years of age and he made a last impression on me by just taking his time on a crowded day and talking with me and just you know spare you know give me a little bit of uncharacteristic for Jordan especially in the playoffs where as we said last night he's been scoring about 35% of his team's points well it said that has been the case with Michael Jordan but what he's got is some help from his teammates but in Brad Daugherty what he's starting to do one of the reasons he's become so much better is I think he's bulked up he's really strong and for whatever reason people don't pay much attention to that he gets on the Block you can't move him what I like about what he does off the court though is this is a guy who rounds up his teammates will take him to the Children's Hospital and they'll sing Christmas carols so he's a guy that really likes to give back to the community but I do like the way he plays because I like the way he gets everybody else
