Caught in a Storm

and get ahead of this rain I'll stop and try and get a better shot of it again that hurts that really hurts [Music] all right we're just on the water at Crystal Beach and today the only thing I'm doing today is observing the sky uh we're expecting a few thunderstorms later on this afternoon so the winds stay light and we get a nice system moving in I'll be able to get the Drone up that's what I'm hoping to do so uh that's Basics that's the setup for today it's very hot and humid it's about 28 degrees right now feeling like 34 35 a lot of humidity in the air hardly a breeze and the skies are very gray as you can see all right could be a bit of a Chase on now uh storm is encroaching pretty uh close now it's been brewing and Brewing past few hours the skies are getting pretty dark uh to the west of us now and it is people on the lake usually when we get a storm to tend to come from the Northwest with a cold front but these ones are coming from Lake Erie so I'm going to head out onto the lake quite a bit and sit and wait and see what transpires all right it's gonna sit here and wait about six kilometers away from Crystal Beach uh kilometer away from the lighthouse [Music] 20 kilometers away from Buffalo got a nice Clear Sight of down the the lake here a couple of ships still there I'm also ships sort of disappear and then I'll know the rain's there look at this it's like glass currently but we all knows can change very quickly I can see a change in the water just on the horizon um it's hard to gauge how far but I'm guessing just a few hundred meters ahead of me there's a change in the the way the water looks so it won't surprise me in a couple of minutes this will not be glass anymore [Music] it's gonna hang out here with that bird oh I scared him off now foreign distinguish whether I can have thunder or not in the distance uh rain falling quite heavily over here on the U.S side I just heard a Rumble of Thunder over there as well and uh a little downpour here and some more over there another bit over there it just seems to cleared up just over there so it must be the gap between each storm as it comes along but I'm just starting to feel the air go a bit cooler where I'm sitting so it's not gonna be long before I start moving my way out of here [Music] um that's turned into a nice looking Cloud Ashley keep an eye on that as it gets a bit closer but as soon as I see lightning anywhere near here I'm out of here but that rain looks like it's probably about a mile away from me I and I guess so I'll be out of here probably as that gets close whichever comes first the rain or the lightning I'll be out of here all right the uh lioness first line of storm is just arriving now it's just starting to rain where I am feel it there's a nice little drop right over there look at that that is beautiful especially with the lightness coming through there I like that it's a really nice shot and then we have the bulk of the rain of the first major band just coming in here nice cloud above it so I'm gonna have to fire up start slowly creeping back lovely low Cloud over there that's really nice good skirt really cool here it is the rain is coming down I could hear it approaching which was really really weird I've seen a video on my phone and as I sat there I could hear this sound coming and it was the rain approaching me like that is really heavy rain in that cloud right there now you can't see through it it's probably just a few hundred meters away from me it's good Cloud over there close to Inland for safety reasons and we'll stop again very very shortly Randy coming down hey so cool great clouds foreign [Music] all right he's gonna stop here that is a great Cloud just there from like it was so common still four or five minutes ago and now uh he's pretty Gusty winds uh we've got ripples on the leg which are gonna see the swells I just concentrate on that low Cloud over there now in the blink of an eye it's actually the White Cap slowly started to appear it's very very surely uh this is gonna be a roughly water look at the ripples wow unbelievable look how quick it's turning big white caps now starting to appear oh this would be just a matter about I'm looking at four minutes since I felt the first raindrop to now foreign that is really cool look at the water now starting to bounce quite a bit I can see the Leading Edge right in front of me so any second ass against the sun like light rain early change right in front of me here we go Cloud though he's just like awesome all right allow the wind there's actually no wind right now on my face which is bizarre it's just back up there a minute ago it was really windy and I'm not playing any there's a little bit of wind now but I'm doing 65 kilometers an hour nice boy have a little Lighthouse all right I think I'm far enough ahead now getting some nice shots again turn it around wow oh I have to wait here's the way look at that okay the wind was behind that's why I couldn't feel it so as I'm riding with a wind direction behind me there's no wind in front of us let's just goes to this just goes to show you how this leak here you can get very very quickly uh I'm gonna move close to shore now so I'm not feeling quite 100 right here I've not seen any lightning and there was a few guys fishing so hopefully they'll get the lightning strike before I do because they get aluminum aluminum uh holes look at the rain dancing on the uh on the shore there oh trying to wind the raindrops off of me sure all right I'm breaking out of the storm again Silence of like 50 kilometer hour winds behind me because I don't feel any wind on my face there's no wind on my face whatsoever but as soon as I stop buddy gails finally [Music] got the waves are going to pick up [Music] the lighthouse is disappearing I'm not so much to stop Chaser I think it's the opposite way around I think the storm's like chasing me foreign that's cool the lighthouse just disappearing in the rain there right the Phantom heavy rains approaching me again so but I'm not too far away from Shore now [Music] foreign look at that whoa quite warm so I'm not playing any chills in the late water is really warm as well not cold at all uh the lake temperatures are about 75 78 in places around here so it's like a warm bath talking about but look at that it's completely disappearing in front of me for Shoreline at that point abilo and I can just about work out loud there and he's just a pit oh I need lots of walking inside my ski waves coming over all right so the race the rain is catching me up again a heavy rain I just got back to the turning to Hailstone White Caps okay we got like a foot and a half now waves coming in maybe pushing two feet pushing two feet now so we're in from Cars to two feet waves coming in and I'm just riding with them right now but I'm gonna make myself to a show there so I'll talk to when I get to shore things foreign [Music] foreign [Music] that really hurts whoa all right I have lost the shoreline I gotta go okay I've got my GPS [Music] [Music] all right perfect here foreign [Music] foreign okay [Music] I'll have the boat ramps made it back onto the dock absolutely pouring down oh mad Russia people trying to get out so oh there's a bit of thunder so we do have thunder in the air now so let's get out of here for that lightning hit wow look at that drowned rat gotta get the ski up now just Plumbing down uh this is gonna be like it's all night a lot of heavy rain well we were way out way out over there that was a bit of a clearing uh pretty nice enlightening had a couple of rumbles but it's a major as I speak Rumble asunder so anyway I'm gonna go and get changed I believe there's meant to be a lot of storms throughout the night so we're going to come down here later on but without the ski and try and get some action I'll meet up with uh storm watch Lake Erie earlier on this evening see what happens so anyway there's all a bit of fun out there I thoroughly enjoyed it and now there's no one on the water whatsoever it was a busy Lake about an hour ago and everyone's gone
