[Music] hey good morning it's about six o'clock i've been up and at it for a little while i've got this little ranch trailer hooked on and some panels loaded and i've got some more panels over there at a place that we call long dam that we used last year and i just never hauled them back into the ranch after we used them there last year and i'm kind of glad because i'm going to use them again right now but i've got to pick them up and move them over to eagle nest anyway i'll show you all that is what i'm doing it but today what we're going to try to do is set up some panels where we feed those cattle the ones that i showed you yesterday and we're going to try to see if we can get them captured and get them hauled out of here i want to get it done before it starts raining in here because once it starts raining and there's water everywhere in the tanks then it's gonna be a little bit more difficult to get these cattle trapped hey let me say this today i was watching this morning uh driving over here on the dirt road uh the video that posted today about moonshine and wow the comments that you guys have made awesome and i know amy does an awesome job answering your comments and hopefully she'll get to most of you but in two hours we already had like 138 comments and we just want to say thank you to all of you for your thoughts during that hard time when we had to let moonshine go it's amazing how how much you can become attached to your animals the the land that you work uh the vehicles that you drive the people that are in your lives and none of those are categorized in any particular order but it's just amazing how attached you get to those things and uh it happens to all of us and i guess that's what makes us human that's what makes us uh vulnerable and that's what makes us the type of people that we are and i wouldn't have it any other way i don't know about you all all right let's get through this gate and go start setting up some panels i've got about 10 panels in this trailer and maybe 15 or so over there at that other tank laying on the ground that i'm gonna go pick up but i'm gonna go unload these first and set them up so they're out of this trailer and kind of out of my way and then we'll run over to that other tank that we call long damn pick up those other panels i'm kind of solo today i wish i had the help of some of y'all that are watching this keith is in san diego on a little kind of a mini family reunion with his immediate family ray had to stay home get some stuff done up there today get some vehicle service so on and so forth my dad and chad they haven't made it out here yet my dad's going to be 89 in september is that amazing and still comes out here every day um not the big powerful force that he used to be out here but that's alright he's 89 and uh dad if you're watching this i'm not saying that disrespectfully i'm just saying it's pretty amazing that at 89 he still wants to get up in the morning and come out here and do the things that he does we look to him to feed whatever cattle are in the trail right now we're running some water every day out of a storage tank for for some cattle that we're watering over in uh what we call our pollock pasture he's taking care of that so i mean he's still a big vital part of this operation he's not gonna pack panels and do all that stuff like he used to and that's all right he's he's earned his card to be able to take it a little bit easier every day all right it is going to be a hot one today these cattle won't be in here till this evening and that's fine i could probably blast my siren and maybe get a few of them here but i really don't want to do that i'd rather them all come at the same time so i'm just going to spend the next couple of hours setting up and being ready for them when we come back this evening all right so there's a good start one two three four five six seven there's seven panels here i think there's uh 10 or 12 over there where i'm going right now the thing is is to uh make it big enough that these cattle when they come in here they don't feel like they're like they're being uh imposed on or like they're being uh closed down on so we're gonna make this thing pretty wide and uh we'll get him to follow us in there and slip around behind him and shut the gate then we'll go get a trailer and get him loaded out it's going to be a process it's going to take it's going to take the day not that i'll be over here the whole day but he's gonna take the day and just being patient waiting for him to come over here okay let's go to let's go to long damn get the rest of those panels it's a hot one today yeah there's a pretty good little jag of panels here i think there's about 12 of them i'll be able to make a big o crail over there i've got my first victim right there [Music] it doesn't look too wild does it i may feed him a little bit of cake and not crail him right now wait until this evening when i can get them all [Music] well i'm gonna set up some panels [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] i'm thinking it's gonna work what do you think this steer was here by himself when i came over here and uh i fussed around here a minute and he kind of was starting to leave so i got a bag of cake off the back of the truck and as soon as he saw me drag it off he came running over here and i put it right here inside these panels we're not fenced off yet but i just wanted to see if i could get him to come right through here and he did i think it might be fairly easy tonight actually i don't want to speak too soon but i think it's going to work out really good okay i'm all set up i've got a cross i've got a cross divider this deer is basically in the krell if i want him to be but i'm gonna let him i'm gonna let him leave and hopefully he'll show back up this evening with these other cattle and uh he he's been in here he doesn't feel the pressure of you know being afraid in this pen he's just he's worried about eating those pellets that cake so hopefully his calmness will you know encourage the others to come in here so i've got it set up to where this panel right here these panels right here i can pull them across and partition part of my cattle up in there if i need to and still have a little bit of an open pin right here to get some more into this evening if i have to do it in two different uh waves so that's my plan we're all set up we'll just leave it here i'm gonna unhook this little panel trailer and leave it here kind of over here out of the way because i'll need it back over here when i pick all these panels up we just wait now we'll go do a few other things try to come back about 5 30 or 6 o'clock and siren these cattle in here and feed them up feed them right up through here shut the gate on them [Music] ah um there's some little charolais babies right there [Music] [Music] okay check it out here's a charolais baby right here sure enough the little white one over there there's another charolais baby right there charolais baby [Applause] [Music] [Music] all right let's let's feed a little more cake boy i didn't load enough cake and uh bring any for these cows right here but i wanted to run up here and check on these cows make sure that the water's okay lots of charolais bulls right here five of them hanging out right here the bulls seem to be scattered pretty good five here there was one up there with those other cows anyway just uh checking on stuff here checking on water pretty good hole of water still over there there's a mix of cory any babies and charolais babies still plenty of cory any babies coming along those coriander bulls they they did their job for sure all right here's the moment we're going to find out if we have cattle over here
