CATCH AND COOK LOBSTER WITH VEGETARIAN MRE

welcome guys to south florida again i've got another mre this happens to be vegetarian from 1999. let's take a look we've got pasta with vegetables and tomato sauce granola bar ooh a pineapple we're kind of skinny for a pineapple got our spoon crackers not vegetable but regular crackers our accessory pack with tabasco sauce ooh a snickers munch and hopefully oh yeah it's peanut butter with regular crackers look at that that was good however i don't like to do vegan i don't like to do vegetarian so i've got an idea [Music] oh wow [Music] wow [Music] well that was a lot of fun we have our lobster let's get this thing cooking so we have our accessory packet and get out our matches we'll check all what's in there later but for now let's get this thing started i'll turn it on for you thank you this is always exciting that freaks me out everybody there's a little guys in every kind of colder climbs there's some water that gets in there and it stops up for the gas or something let's finish unloading the mre we got our matches we know they work another tabasco sauce asa cool all right and our moist towelette iodized salt we got sea water so we don't need salt in our water oh this is interesting iced tea drink mix with lemon and sugar oh this would be fun i'll have to try that never seen it and we've got our toilet paper which i will open ahead of time in case we don't have a good experience my gum broke open when i got the matches out so we have our gum ready to go as well all right let's see what else we have here here's our pasta with vegetables and tomato sauce take that out real quick set it down nice our granola bar well this is interesting double wrap this that might actually taste good when we tuck into it nature valley granola bar yeah even brand name that's right all right a pineapple this is this is going to be really clean i i i'm anxious to check that one out for sure and we have our spoon our peanut butter hooray never had bad peanut butter no matter how old the mre is snickers munch that's cool and last but not least uh crackers and it's just plain crackers not uh vegetable crackers so that'll go real well with the peanut butter in my latest videos i've been talking about my travels in england when i was in the marine corps in 1984. so i'm going to wrap that one up here i was in portsmouth and uh i started kind of one around the streets which were so cool a lot of cobblestone streets the buildings were you know hundreds of years old because i was down by the the sea the seafront this the wharfs and everything and i happened upon a jewelry store just a quaint little jewelry store a couple little windows in the front of it had unusual stuff in the window so i gotta go ahead and take a look so i go in and this is the mid-80s and you all the rage at that time was for guys and gals to be wearing gold rope chains that was a big deal so i walk in the jewelry store and they had gold rope chains for a fraction of what we were buying for in the states i'm looking at them i pick them up i ask the question why what's the deal here and the guy shows me on the tab they're eight karat gold well in the united states you have three three types of gold for the most part you got 24 karat which is as close to 100 gold as you can get you've got 18 karat gold which is three quarters gold and you have 14 karat gold which is just a little more than half gold content in the jewelry well this is eight carat gold this is one-third gold two-thirds other metals so it doesn't have as much gold in it so therefore it's a little cheaper so i'm looking this stuff over i thought this would sell great on the ship the guys would love these things so i bought i used all my cash that i had i bought as many necklaces i think i was able to buy 10. brought them back with me to the ship showed them to everybody showed them they were eight carat gold and that's this is why they could get a good deal they couldn't believe the good deal i gave him i sold out of my necklaces everybody was happy i was delighted i went home with some pretty good money and wrapped up the trip that way it was quite a quite a fun way to end a trip to england so anyway let's get on to our lobster our water's boiling all right we're gonna grab our lobster he's been on ice so he's definitely asleep we're going to break off his antenna because well maybe i'm gonna just break them off there we go break off an antenna we have such a small pot guys yeah we need to break off the antenna and we're gonna roll the tail up i'm gonna set him in gingerly there we go just right nice now should we put the lid on i think so i think that helps it so here we have the lid that'll get it to a boil quicker and there we go all right i think it's time to open up this meal let's open up our pineapple i'm kind of anxious to see what this looks like i love pineapple and i like canned pineapple i'm afraid it's going to have a lot of taste of uh can you see that that's not that's not good this is looking like uh something from uh c ration from 50 years ago you know what wow it doesn't smell good either i'm not going to worry about getting all that out that's nasty pineapple the pineapple doesn't last all right oh boy that is stinky jesus it might be real sorry i did that let me uh get my moist towel out now this is why you have a most moist towelette i think oh boy oh maybe need to turn this down a little action get our cracker opened up on the tray in good shape definitely in good shape there we're going to get our peanut butter on the tray again it's separated after 20 to 23 years it'll it'll do that so there we go oh yeah that's looking good it actually looks good that looks normal and you know what except for the 57 year old sea wrap peanut butter we had and it was edible but it just wasn't that good it tasted a lot like metal i don't think we've had much bad peanut butter don't we yeah ah you know that looks good we're just gonna open up our pasta with vegetables and see what this looks like oh it's tomato base that's usually not so good yeah i think i'll put it right then don't you want the lobster lobster yeah that's tomato based it's dried out yeah it's got vegetables in there doesn't i see green whole green beans at least you can see what it is that's right no doubt about it there's some big old green beans i got corn and they still have their individual colors there's a pea got peas and corn green beans i see a tomato there or carrot the carrot there tomato here and the pasta all right we'll tuck into that here in a minute open up this snickers here now it looks like corn now let's see here we'll put that with our crackers and it's coming out in pieces there we go our stickers and we've got a granola bar oats and honey um there you go we uh we should try that first yeah yeah there you go well that doesn't look too shabby does it and it is granola so i mean it's got to be good right that stuff has to last forever let's uh let's say a quick prayer here father in heaven i do appreciate this time to be together thank you for this food we're about to eat asking christ's name all right ac you want to imbibe in a little bit of granola 22 year olds i guess bon appetit cheers tastes like um when i used to when i was a kid i go to northwest iowa my cousin scott's place helping for dale's and uncle johnny's place my cousin glenn and eldon and uh we would feed the hogs and they had a mixture of corn and what i don't know what all but that smell reminds me of feeding the hogs the uh the grain mixture they put together never tried it then but if this is how it tasted it's not bad can we eat dessert first i think we should try a little of this snickers do it while the blocks are still falling there you go again it looks too much like corn to peanuts of yellow i mean look at that i feel like this is going to be the only edible thing these two items not for me yeah oh yeah sure yeah that was not not cool i think our flame just went out sir hang on here watch out stand back iron hole it maybe it right on the pasta there we go there we go i got this thing's got me spooked man ah that was bad oh yeah i shouldn't have put taken a big old bite no it looked harmless enough here you go you wanna yeah no guys uh yeah the snickers i don't know what it must be milk or something yeah that's it that's it yeah i'm telling you that's what it is that was nasty all right well we gotta do the old peanut butter test we love peanut butter let's try it out all right wait it smells good is that good peanut butter meets the tusk all the way around that's interesting how long peanut butter lasts it is that's that's really interesting and it doesn't taste metallic you know or anything like that like it was in that pouch for forever like the like the fruits and meats tend to not bad at all that's good all right definitely want to cleanse the old palette get out our um our cup because we're going to make some iced tea got our cup from marine core days here we go shut that down powder lemon iced tea drink let's see what this looks oh it's in a double pouch it's got the packet and it uh look at that it's like uh syrup or something like granulated this thing is tough to i should provide you with a little scissors or something here um well we'll try it looks like moisture got in there or something and i mean that is packed in plastic and the the foil should we waste the water on it yeah we got to waste the water on it there we go you know what i'm going to check that out real quick let's just see here this says uh contains sugar instant tea citric acid lemon flavor that's probably the citric acid ah we gotta give it a try what the hell add some water there we go we don't want to do too much we can always add a little more later we've got our spoon that we'll definitely be cleaning off yeah we're going to go to some newer meals next time guys i want to start eating again all right so that's going to take a little while to dissolve i think if it does we'll uh we'll add a little more water to that and let it set i think our lobster's done i think so let's shut that off and get let it cool and look he's busting out of the back of his shell there like crawfish dude nice all right let's get this guy on the tray here there we go this is the way to make a vegetarian mre this is it we got a couple of antenna and uh there we go let that cool and get after it let's give this tea a quick try it's fairly melted down let's see it's not bad if i drink it in a pinch but i ain't in a pinch so we'll just set that right down off to the side and uh retrieve our spoon all right we're going to get a little bit of here let's do it this way i'm going to get a little bit of corn and a pea and some mater i got on there and a green bean let's see what we think here without the pasta smells like metal vegetables i'm worried for you you know it's not it wasn't that bad it really wasn't it was um i see an olive in here good grief or a mushroom i don't know it's some olive or mushroom one if you can't tell you may not want to throw it down let's try a noodle there are noodles in there oh yeah there you got your corkscrew i didn't even recognize these they're brown it must be because there's no meat in this thing that the tomatoes are okay again it's not fantastic but it is i'll say it's edible but i unless i was really hurting i don't think i'd do it but now let's tuck into what really makes this vegetarian meal good i'm going to get a glove on here we're going to crack that tail right here right now let's see here this is a spiny lobster and unlike a main lobster it has no claws but it has some good tail meat i'll tell you that and quite a bit of body meat which is kind of surprising oh look at that all right let's do it like we do a crawdad that was ace's suggestion i think that might work by golly let's take a look here look at that get that out of this end yeah it's coming right apart now that's such a full lock oh man it's like it was getting ready to molt or something as full as that thing is there we go i'm worried i'm gonna hurt the meat it's like are you kidding me look how thick this thing is oh man a little tougher than it seems but it's well worth the work there we go peel that last little bit back there we go check it out my friends lobster all right you're just kidding oh that is a lobster you know if you're ever gonna do yo you want some if you're ever gonna do let's get that out of there hold on we got oh there's the i have them we got the family thank you for seeing that if you're ever gonna do a vegetarian mre meal that's 20 plus years old throwing a lobster good every time thanks for hanging out
