CAT 259B3 Skid Steer Loader Sells at Auction | Steel Deals | Successful Farming

[Music] if you're looking to upgrade your skid steer loader to a loader with much appreciated tracks but in fighting a budget battle with the budget winning then this cat 259 b3 might be the answer this is a 2013 model that comes equipped with an air-conditioned cab auxiliary hydraulic outlet up front for attachments a two-speed transmission and a hydraulic quick attach bucket more importantly it's rigged with tracks that ride on cats optional suspension system here's the deal with this skid steer however it has 2200 hours on it stack that's not exactly low hours but it turns out to be average for skid steers of this age otherwise this loader appears to be in good condition but I have some question regarding its use before putting a top bid on this machine for example what should I look for when inspecting a skid steer like this for possible mechanical problems and who better to ask than the manager of Steffes auctions Mount Pleasant sale facility Tim Meier Tim were looking at that cat 259 b3 it's a tracked skid steer not the highest horsepower not the lowest force part it's kind of a mid horsepower skid steer loader I'm a little worried about it's got a lot of hours on it even though it's a 2013 if I'm looking to buy that what should I look for as far as mechanical condition is concerned well obviously the tracks are really important and with the tracks you want to look at the gears that are underneath it the bogie wheels many suspensions the whole suspension system Tim that has a two-speed transmission what's the advantage there to speed has almost become the norm everybody is wanting to speed anymore there's so much faster so much more efficient absolutely you know that that skid loader track machine has so many of the I would consider must-haves anymore to speed cab air it's got axillary hydraulic up front right it's got the quick catch hydraulics so basically you can run that machine and stay in the seat of it which is good for efficiency and it's also sitting much safer the other reminder about skid steers as well as when you come into an auction like this print primarily a farm option however there's gonna be people here bidding that or running construction or landscaping so it's not going to be bringing the bargain prices we're seeing for high horsepower combine or tractors and combines is it well I sure hope you're right Dave we've hopefully we bring in a landscaper or or something else that's that's a machine that it is smaller and but it's easier to haul around it's not as heavy a machine if that that's a machine that if you're going from job site to job site on a daily basis that would fit what your operation is very very well but not the right horsepower size do you think for a typical farm the person that's going to do more construction and dirt moving would probably want a little bit more horsepower machine although ten years ago that was a massive machine that was it's gonna be interesting I I think that that machine will do most everything that everybody wants it to do now here's the question I've always wondered about it especially when you get into equipment like semi trucks skid-steer loaders pay loaders forklifts because we know they're coming from bundler industries is there a percentage in price hike if that comes from a farm previously well there's always a percentage in price hike if it comes from a farm retirement or in a state I think I think that the biggest decrease and then to answer your question would be if it came off of construction crew that one did not really wasn't in much concrete and not a lot of SLAM and hard on it I didn't get a lot of help from a hit home circuit but a good question well thanks Tim let's watch the cat the final bid on our cat 259 B 3 was twenty six thousand five hundred now how does that compare to sales with similar machines turns out track skid-steer loaders are in good condition are bringing about average prices these days for example I track the sale of three skid steers equipped the same as this one today they were 2013 models with flip between about 1,500 to 22,000 hours and they were equipped with cabs auxilary hydraulics outlet track suspension system very similar to this machine their final bids ranged from twenty six thousand dollars up to thirty thousand dollars much higher than the day's machine and what about dealer asking prices I hit the internet to turned up twenty-one similar loaders with asking prices ranging from twenty seven thousand dollars up to thirty nine thousand dollars that 27,500 skid steer loader had ours similar to this machine and the thirty seven thousand nine hundred dollar loader at just over eight hundred and came with white tracks GPS it was likely used for construction work which accounts for its higher value going into sales like the Steffes auction the day armed with such pricing information is crucial these days that value of crossover equipment like skid steers used both in agriculture as well as construction and landscaping has been huge flux these days this way you can bid in confidence which not only brings you peace of mind but also impresses
