two of the coolest guys I've ever had the pleasure to meet and I cannot wait for you guys have your own sampling of thousands questions as well ladies helmet you know him as Apollo 3 mr. Carl [Applause] hello hello Tasha guys thank you so much for coming personally my but what my foot on a for example alright now we come through the first person I think we do that but you know I know it it's really really trying to play out of character such a further than proper getting our young kids going to get along up here right yeah all right good did you see that that movie that we made where we would love about would we get more do come on that's what I said the next Rocky movie right yeah that's a good idea actually is now I kind of like that tree out of the closet I think of work come on out of work actor I need a job yeah but my friend could be you know he doesn't like do you know you immediately actually know the crazy thing is right now right now we could really go salon services how do you think about it know with all the stuff that's going on the literature I wouldn't rule which went with with the two characters of the wing right now and the better the better yeah maybe let alone the man selfies so excited about I have a great idea and we all hear those shorts again you start a petition right now you guys can make this happen hey let's go put your hands up who want to get revenge no one for each of you I want to kind of go back a little bit in the beginning now from first I want to ask you about this there's the very different story about your audition process for Rocky and how you really did kind of tag fly on the chin and that whole thing can you talk a little bit about the truth on the process of that whole thing what really did go down well first of all when you say tag him on the chin metaphorically maybe I did that but I didn't do that physically I was an audition and any actor knows especially when you're young really chomping at 50 going to read for something which I did which I had because they did want to see I was a non star like actor I was just a guy out there looking for a job and I went Adan edition that was what you know it's pretty called a cattle call hundreds of other actors of course that was a Friday evening nobody wants to sit around we read lines on a Friday evening but probably at my chance to go in and all these actors sitting in the office I go in and there was Bob Shiraz and Irwin Winkler John avildsen director comes other people might say and it also doesn't happen they ask you a few questions I answer the questions finally if door opens over to the right and a guy walks in and since now they introduced it as the writer of the movie okay so he sits down opens the script I have highline's someone memorized and we start going through the scene you know putting the scene up that's my audition I finish in it it's like critics nobody say they think of I suppose you did a great job but I said series you're terrible memory and so it's over leaning over to the side talk of each other finally I just thought I gotta save myself I said we know to get me a real actor I could do a much better job Stallone is sitting there and I don't know he's starring in the movie they just did the host of as the writers kind of looking up at me I'm gonna try to impress the people who are supposed to hold the decision lo and behold I was asked to come back an audition that has took my shirt which it was suspect you know I might ask a guy to take his shirt off for this movie when they come up welcome to Hollywood yeah exactly becomes very much officially you know I had to go in so that I can box after I fight about that of course I'm Rick Fox with the football player really I totally I boxed in the club fights in Canada when I shall see some last legs with the BC Lions to be into the into a gym with a really great box and Jimmy yet be the little guy the rain in the early Rockies and beat the hell out of a and I try to do my best and at the end of the day with back told ya they keep in doing that's how it happened yeah Dom he subsequently was like eight thousand gods cousin for your role in you won that part out of all those guys what was the divine yeah you're visiting was a defining thing that allowed you to to stand out among all the summer um what they had to be my situation was slope different that crop because I knew the broad new pictures and I was a fan and I was my heroes martial arts champion and when I did in Australia studying engineering in Sydney unite or agency rowdy three you know where Apollo trains rock into fights in mr. t and I was fighting by myself in the European a Australian Open as a fighter in little I know that you know two years later I would be in the fiction next one conclude to happen very quickly is also waiting for cattle call and on that slide and have to practice you know a monologue and work out to stuff your body building as I was a bit think up I'd be legs cut thin from you being fired and then now I to do is retesting in LH they flew in from New York and I came down for breakfast in the morning but we just as a diet I was just having like area a seventies toast or something at say he died and then I went to the elevator with doors open and there's a 6-5 blonde guy lookin at me excuse me you know some Russian guy and then so another server that's okay is they unto me appreciative and if I have there's 8,000 people up for this book and at least that's entitled and then under the screens and difference was those are the two Russians they kind of play the character like a Russian mr. t I won't kill you but I give them visas you know what I haven't just stood there my name is drunk I said very very stoic didn't room at all I think now this kind of a choice that they like to talk to cookie much character so these days like only New York New York you know early and then immense the rest of the cast of starstruck by everybody in with this Talman hearing / Jong and polish Cyril mosquito it's the in the movie you know I thought no Kevin we can tell a tale a troll and you know what I change maintenance walking with the prepared over the world was and people coming getting out of the way to take pictures of the electrician and my name is later with Mikey month for the from Europe people taking pictures of me Wow and that was it happening my quick rocking good job you know listening listening to what dolphins say is so reminiscent of a similar experience I had but what I really want to say is if you look at rocky 4 and you look at the work thought it would never ever leave that that was basically the story is told how he got the job because not only was he fantastic as Drago but when you stood there on screen with it you never had an inkling of a guy who had done this on this level before we had the good fortune of doing three movies before but we could not have had a warm person antagonist in Toronto that this guy here so bad thing was the highest-grossing Rocky movie that is still the highest grossing argument as being based on what it costs to make it did this obviously kind of took the franchise to a whole new level um it was popular at the time but this became like a giant blockbuster film Carl you being experienced with mobile bills before that and involving of course coming in as the new guy what were your perceptions of how it was perceived by the public and just how big of a global head it became and the effect it had on everybody as a result of that you need to see something you don't need a blow you know every movie that you makes you have no really any knowledge how to do now of course you know there's mentoring and people with movie business don't make movies on a guess they pretty much figure now what their potential box office is going to be obviously a lot of times they're wrong look at movies that cost hundreds of millions of dollars and it's a lovely weekend but by and large they pretty much decided whether they want to make them will be based on the economics let's face it you had one here to it and we had three and the three have done extremely well and then he had solicits the loan who him who was the worldwide superstar so to take a chance on hockey for was that huge chance you know and and it was very timely movie because of the where we were in the world the whole idea of Russian versus America that's why as I in a joking the beginning of instantly they couldn't be more kindly again with what's going on but nobody knows how much money I made but that was a pretty safe bet yeah I mean like I said I was a kid you're suddenly now I was a little going around the world through promotions blast you may you know political questions argue about the cohorts who said you know sweetie so it really was experience but yeah there was the Cold War was still going on we couldn't shoot Russia had chicken Canada because obviously the guys with guns guarding all the borders and I remember Tom in Burlington boosters Takamori limited room I was running along the Berlin Wall commercial movie the result that East German garbage now with a ak-47 is kind of wonder what was going on down there inside ok this is a real I think they affect someone's guys I don't have money anyway so what was the time in the world sure yeah I hope you guys don't mind if I ask this but I mean just talking to you off save a minute ago you guys seemed like to get along really well you seem like you're friendly with one another ah geez you love everybody children come off their birth there have been stories of tension on the set is that true how true was now for me was the big mortise install and he said Marcus very sure no I don't think so I think it was I mean obviously we have a fight vegas general lives in the moments when labors detectives you know we do the press conference but like I said I was concerned about solarium performance as kids in kid and certainly was you know looking up to everybody into in Carlton so I didn't feel but of course when you watch the movie the movies pretty powerful people can't be that into it symmetric why did you of what they want to believe thank God if somebody doesn't want to kill you he kills it for that and they you know it's like wow if you really wanted to do that how wide you actually difference live awesome yeah but also died in London since I know the field I don't think no matter what they say I don't think they'll put sly the hospital I think slight is part of vacation sure there are some assurance there you go home bad Ireland I know you guys know plenty and we want to educate you if any audience questions we can't we have microphones set up here who would like to keep out of our audience questions we have ones there we go right there let's go hi hi you guys many versatility that you were going to be killed off oh that corrective is crying kill in all honesty and you know I wasn't like I was jumping up and down but at the same time it's a movie because that's my business because what I've done it for almost 50 years now professionally and I was active before that University what are you going to do that's the script then you know I do the job as long as they paid they send the cheque my baby is cashable I'm willing to do the job you know that's a thank you here in hair on the degree job like what other superheroes stuff are you into like shows you're moving your tires out the vault is on yes yes um let's see yeah Arabs one television around for foreigners it's a lot battle for LA - bian qu / 12:20 time in one season but I mean the next day I'm doing it very nice gentleman this movie called Aquaman which is a wonder if it's you and the king and please father Alois amber ernst character Riza Ackerman's love interest yes and you know you should like topamax around [Music] Haley I'm doing that concerning leaks so they know it's a constant picture about developments and armor and stuff I have you CGI so that's going to be fun because my character it doesn't take much ass basically kind of talks a lot so they don't so that's different film with more to it tell us every story and yes this one sort of Carl with a new against how they continue in the rocky franchise increase I want to know what your thoughts were on learning and how you do you know then continuing that story wrapping up creating storyline and continuing that Porsche well first of all I thought the movie was fantastic both people seem to like him a lot they went to see the drones Brian did a spectacular job writing directing yes he was it's the best work I think slides have done and I told them that more than once I think he really still want to Academy for a Best Supporting Actor and he was I mean like I you know I started 40 years ago with Rocky so I've seen over the years you know his trajectory and of course he had been other movies but the words he never had was just spectacular one and really brought tears to your eyes you know I know it's a movie and that's what I do for a living but his performance was just phenomenal so I thought the movie just overall was great and I thought they did a great job with following up with the whole rocky saga and introducing creeps on follow the reason thank you Thanks my questions are Carl for all the lobster and where did you get to select your entrance music James Brown to be an American you know if you did get selected and what would you select it for young man are you sure you haven't asked a lot of questions over the years that is the first time of Emperor's Wow no I didn't get selected thank God because you know one when something is right you just got to give credit to people who did the selection of the music have the three of us Dolf myself to Jake Brown on stage at one time come on man I don't care who you are to the other station Jake Brown a legend of around the world put that one in the capsule would sit it off in the space nobody's going to top that be likely on statement Eagles okay if I had the chance what would I have chose I won't be silly I have no clue though I think that was probably the best choice that anybody has ever made yeah it's just worth it just one and by the way you know the great thing about movie business is that when you have great people is always collaborative and when you write a really great script as sly did again hey they've come to that yeah and when you do the credit job he does with that character rocky and it's just amazing to me that you could just keep putting together it making them work you know so I eat idea props to him and say why would I want to try to change that it was perfect absolutely thank you thank you thank ya this is the question mr. Lungren you can tell us a lot about hearing and filming The Punisher Monique okay Punisher yeah I like once you I can't remember I don't think I knew about the character but somebody said be some comic books to my house whereas about a little timer but we gave you the sculpture whatever was made so making a movie in Australia so I decided yeah I think I should do it that was interesting we had some of the facts people working on it back the day and there was a lot of there was two Japanese fires that came in took you could play to the bad guys at fight fights with and they didn't really understand there's a movie boy somehow they have to me for real the little one was crying when he had thought I was going to die shade is old family the only God the other model is the other wanting at the break spear and without with a roundhouse kick he insisted of great for the real spirit and a lot of salt to everything that that was also wicked bad for his family so that was the toughest part fighting history died but about the latter was very good experience and and I had emails some good people in the picture good actors in it Lou Gossett jr. was it a great idea and enjoy it thanks thank you very much thank you my question is kind of before but we may not get to be happy and that are you is great adopt with too much younger version of himself and we have Apollo Creed sound who interviews device to be norsu divide apologizing so to me no your honor William people Callisto this become familiar to me so I listen to so new respect I should be some Russian yaojin vicious opinion big tough gap you know looking a bit like a young version meaning yes but I can train get back those capitalism again have looking back to what they did to me it'll grow underground into the now I think that I've drawn was a Siberia for Island within the minds when he became a drawn some I guess the song together news coverage America's the wider forward the capital is being everything we can get like solely or somebody - well you know front of OB a lot of my here he comes a scary I must break show you my first I don't got it go ahead what's your part so my question actually is when you guys are filming your icing genre like having for lunch or how did that go Joe enjoy that help what we need by men enjoy the food boxes that were traveling holy how you know what I think I think that those that felt it was very short first of all our art stuff was very short in terms of screen time and I think that short fight between Apollo and Drago is one of the best in all of the movies I really do and part of the reason is I mean this guy helped I've done this I mean he was really really good at the rape not that sly wasn't but this guy was he difference so it made it that much for me more realistic to be an editor he's very athletic guy and then oddly enough there's a moment in the movie which is always the way it goes where I remember stepping on the spot and you see in the movie where I slip you know and then one of the commentators say something about Lisa limping well it wasn't plan since I hit this web spot slip so it looked like a real fight and look like this guy I was running away from this guy this you know Trotter was going to kill him rod was this huge contract so I just think that fight when you look at that it really just takes that easy way back to that movie in such a big way before eight months you know I may be 49 but then it's it's an exciting science in a while I don't know that exactly agency to question I don't remember every bee kick because last thing in the world I want to do is behave I by Drago you know or Dolph I was running for my life okay my son doesn't know I think you remember the drama setup is a week six a you know the right of the way Drago makes his entrance and the way Apollo comes in which is brown the whole build-up and the wife's and the both lives and yeah but it is the setup of that fight very very strong I don't think is everything matched really I mean a amount of screen time and energy spent setting it up so by the time you know the flights Taj is so wrapped up watching it and also like us lies there in his body and you on the towel you know you know uncle it makes it really exciting signaling moments every time you only how to watch it that much but if I do catch the picture that's a strong moment you know with a towel rocking and then you know aftermath and encompass of the funeral he is quite powerful I currently don't know for you every time I watch box very much more especially I was feeling at ego stranger going to go ahead Jim how much is physical octaves apart your life you can't even look once you once you've done that what you what you got me gotten into a placement that's a part of your life depicting somehow it doesn't stop being a part of your life I don't care what kind of shape you read the word or or or how much you have to do what excuses you have somehow you find a way not strayed too far away from yet another gym it just becomes a part of the life so I don't know you help these I and hopefully on the bed when I'm having my last few breaths maybe have a dumbbell beside something to another girl it's yours the way got to do something you got to work out somehow someway even if it's just going out and walking you know I mean doing some hey thank you sir hi my question is for mr. Lungren so I always have a very huge fan of yours very huge fan someone Universal Soldier showdown so kill all that green stuff but I was super surprised when I saw you on arrow for the first time I didn't know you were going to be on the show silently I was like super surprised and I was watching by myself though I could have talked to anybody about it I was walking around like oh my god don't blender is not ariel and ferno here so my question is how does that actually that role that they call you if you have to addition for it I mean either way I'm those office you're on the show body but the things you cannot control Thanks no they believe there must your very big fancy you know said they written this character take a look at and I have done television but I read the character and there was a lot of fun you know he's let go kind of a Puttanesca Russian very welcoming guys slashing Almaty out here to Davis you know sighing I thought it was good he didn't like talking and it was a fun role to play it was the named up doing it little bit like a that it was because of some Marlon Brando you see Moscow was interesting it was different the tropical and then I learned fondling and also gets the television which you hadn't done before so I thought I don't wanna keep you ask you sure this is struggling what we did in London we have the whole roomful of the journalists like this and Stallone you know example one in the state of slime and first wish I had first question was a little slime ovulating I wanted to pass over him so he sees if they ask me something mister month and so what is the moment they ask me questions to foil with my mouth like us jokingly grew under an hour Gerardo no government online they wrote you don't like it shouldn't have to audition make very much prettier hello this question for Carl how liminal was filming the male predator and they jump house you know I look there's the there's the the prospers and the promotional version and then there's the version that's the we lose the real person is when you're here 30s of our homes I was at the time I don't care how tough it is and you got a dam there for you did you really think it's tough I mean you love what you do you're out there with a crazy group of guys and every day is your the fun location like portfolio Bartok Mexico it doesn't get that you can say it's tough but they're being you you get the time to grab-ass with a group of guys you go out at night to three types of concealer eat great food you can lay in the Sun on the beach on the weekends and you have enough days on a desktop now the promotional version of my god isn't something spooky however I had to work on in my life I mean every day we're out there with fighting spiders we're fighting bats were fighting each other and it was 260 degrees and there was so many flies and common snakes that were chasing off hey you know again this is what we do for living it was a fun shoot and I ever been around as good here been to group of guys as I was on that everyone I was the only guy who's saying yes that is a for the bank was fun fun William you know to this day as one of my favorites thank you thank you right I just 100 from age 5 on my every call time investing members yeah my mind I was studying noise what are you a dog with we get everybody to love it or hate it when we talk your bond experience coming in why little busy world of kind of scratches her inside working man oh well thing I think every you know like I you know what I did it was canons last pictures of little in background have some problems you have the production you know advocates on you and there was a kid that I enjoyed main character off and you know previous petitioners rocky for later Sylvia villain and then I was supposed to miss American hero even so so impression Deanna as a young actor but I think I would have noticed if the film has really come growing on a lot of people and like today when I said over so let's say well about forty to sixty percent say you know forty several autographs of the glass become masters of any on maybe fifty from you probably like important if you these nine songs universal is when people other texture and you know is the only want to have my kids watch small nobody get your head blown off and then but yeah I think it's a movie that gets returned the reboot and I've heard a lot about that but I don't know if it's going to happen right now but in order for five years and they were able what are we gonna show up this human animation cream as grandfather yeah it's that kind of a movie that you know for the time we good job when they were together so has this kind of possible on say thank you thank you hi first time I just tell you how much that was given to me personally how much rocking forward especially my favorite has really just talking to me but maybe when I need it I'll listen to your life I'll listen to the richest it helps so much but thank you so much so videos I love you guys know again there's anything else secondly you have a specific line or a phrase or something that serve you have said it in the Rocky movies that is your absolute favorite Wow you know what there's so many great I am and I have the good fortune for a little and people lives on h1 okay sorry actually you know what one of the lives that I really loved was a lot of people who kind of dated was the Big Bang getting the wedding was improvised at the moment because uh when we walk out after I think it's rocky free I think and where it's just like I call again rocky ring together and chat by text character tipsy and you'll be big after this one of them so we finally go at the end of the movie in that one where they freeze fight the punch which a lot of people love hold zest who want more we froze the truth is there was no winner we first-rate where we assume therefore we hope they did but we're walking out and you want to ring the bell and grab attention I just said you need a lot of people love that and I kind of see it just because it's so something that to me was just simple work at the time works rather yeah make your love mines I didn't have them high five or again four lines of reach three famous no no I I like I like the moment where I mom you know the first press conference when they ask me question or not they say so John Robinson guilty America understatement because the mass tongue could make it person solution on the pencil but my first thing of making me to bubblews the ladder I've gotta study my college acquaintance here's my favorite is my favorite lock up okay and I think everybody has to read I will create double
