If I learned anything from Eastbound & Down, itβs that this is the second best song to play at a funeral.
I grew up in Seattle during peak Grunge and moved away in 1996. The general feeling at the time was that Candlebox was kind of manufactured and trying to ride the wave and wasn't really grunge. They are decent musicians and I always thought that if they hadn't been marketed the way they were they would have been more successful. I feel like they align better with bands like Silverchair.
Never heard of them and they opened for RUSH on the Counterparts tour and FAR BEHIND made EVERYONE in the arena sit up and pay attention.
From he first few notes we all knew it was a winner.
Had this on cassette single in...94 or 95, I think. Listened to it every morning on the bus. Still one of my all-time favorite songs.
Yooo my parents used to bump them in the 90βs and it always stuck with me. I feel like as far as that whole early 90βs Seattle/Grunge scene goes, Candlebox doesnβt get enough credit.
It's been thirteen years now...she had a baby and got married. This has always been my go to song when I think about the one that got away.
I remember my older bother and sister listening to this before school. It's not always bad being the youngest.
If they'd hit 2yrs earlier they would be mentioned in the same breath as the bigger grunge bands...this song and album melds beautifully the transition of rock at the time from "AFD" era GnR to Mother Love Bone to PJ "Ten", AIC, Soundgarden, etc. They landed a bit too late unfortunately...
These guys were surprisingly awesome live.
