Hi everyone! Just a friendly reminder - If you're going to quote certain lines, words, or actions of these videos, please do so appropriately (see below), so as to not run afoul of r/CanadianForces rules on Reddiquette or Hate Speech, and Reddit's Content Policy.
A number of comments have been removed for no context "quotes", with one user telling me that "it's in the vid", hiding a bigoted comment behind these videos. Let's not use these videos an an excuse for this thread to devolve into how things were, instead of how things are now.
Understanding these videos are from a time in the past and knowing that things were different then, those not "in the know" may have little to no context on this subject. Thank you to those commenting that have already provided context to past attitudes and commentary, 15-20 years pre Op Honour.
Thank you.
To properly quote, use the > symbol. ie:
Keyvalue: >This is a quote
To ensure proper context is given, please mention the particular video, and the timestamp your quote comes from. ie:
Chapter 6 "But He's a Good Sergeant" - 10:50
Oh the memories. I wish they were separated into each of the videos though.
I've also forgotten how shitty our OD uniforms were. CADPAT is leaps and bounds better than that POS.
Ah yes SHARP training, when our one MCpl went from saying big titties to tig bitties
Theres a suspicious amount of engineers...
"He can't be a f--; he's an Indian!"
I lol'd.
omg thank you. Now I can prove to the young folks that this is how we were trained once
Ohhh. This is the one βhe canβt be gay he is an Indianβ
My experience with racism was hearing two candidates making fun of a Chinese accent which of course I wasn't having on my watch so I proceeded to jack them up and turn around only to find out they were both Chinese.
Holy fuck these sensitivity/harassment videos have really come a long way.
Going from using slurs and hard sexism to using tea as a euphemism for sex in a stick figure video. Hell on our SQ our Sgt apologized for using the term 'guys' as a collective.
He straight up called that Asian dude a fucking... yeah. I can't imagine these kinds of films being shown to us today... or are they?
