what finally made you decide to Let It Go grandma what is your most favorite memory in this car we have some content and we have some stuff to sell at the auction which makes the auction a little bit more fun and to be quite honest with you a little more stressful too today's another day where I may be gambling just a little bit probably going to make another mistake today's video 1 month in the making it is 1 month from the time you're watching this video because I'm buying my grandfather's Corvette bringing it to the Barrett Jackson auction to see if we can make any money what am I talking about Craig well my grandfather is is the original owner of the Corvette behind me in this garage right here he doesn't drive anymore he doesn't use it it has low low miles and the Barrett Jackson auction in West Palm Beach is just a month away and he asked me if I wanted to buy it he knows I love Corvettes and I said yeah maybe I'll ship it up to New Hampshire and sell it up there or I can run it through the Barrett Jackson auction next month and see if we can make some money on it and he doesn't know is whatever we make on that car I'm going to split it with him my name is Craig from flying Wheels let's see what's behind this garage and then head over to the Barrett Jackson auction see if we can try to make some money let's get [Music] going looks pretty good for a 20year old car it does and that right there is my grandma grandma how long have you guys owned this car we bought it in 2004 and you are the head of wen't you the president of the Corvette club yes right now I'm on the board of directors all right let's get it started [Music] [Music] all right this is Grandpa and this is Grandpa's Corvette Grandpa yes Craig I've been asking you to sell this thing for years what finally made you decide to to let it go I guess time time time to go do you use it still still you still driving you just had a Corvette meet this weekend didn't you we did but I didn't take the Corvette you didn't even take the Corvette to the Corvette meat no I think that's the answer probably right there why didn't you well because I didn't want to take it over there with was sold oh it was my fault all right Grandma what is your most favorite memory in this car oh my good we took it toy W and we had a great time there for a we you remember that we took it up to St Austine we had a great time up there mine was when I lived in Florida when I lived in Orlando and we took the Viper to your Corvette club so it was all the Corvette it was all the Corvette owners and my Viper Daytona in Daytona and it r so you guys just got to put your top right up and I had the Viper convertible top that took me over an hour to put back on what was your favorite memory the keys going down on the keys we went down to a car show one time and another time we went down and had a Time sh oh yeah both with the Corvette Beau so I would think that this is is it hard to let it go or is it are you ready I'm ready time it's time wow I'm going to enjoy it for a little bit I hope you do it's a beautiful car it is and then someone else will enjoy it after exactly so this is a triple black 2004 Chevy Corvette convertible with 68,000 miles what is triple black triple black means the convertible roof the body and the interior are all black and triple black now it has a 350 LS1 all aluminum block V8 with 345 horsepower which is probably underrated for this car and in 20 before this was pretty much the max you could get for horsepower aside from the Z06 out of cars the Mustang the Camaro nothing was putting out power like this was back then now my grandparents are part of the Corvette club in Florida actually they run the Corvette club in Florida they bought this car brand new and clearly they don't use it much so I have an original one-owner low mileage triple black Corvette convertible in Florida which is where people want to buy these cars and the Barrett Jackson auction is one month away in West palmm now the scary thing is that the Barrett Jackson auction is a no no Reserve auction so it is a complete gamble on whether or not we will make some money and what my grandfather doesn't know is I'm going to split whatever we make on this car now he asked me last month if I was interested in buying this Corvette and I said you know what I really I don't want to make an offer on your car I really appreciate I don't like dealing with money and family I'm sure someone from your Corvette club would rather buy it and he said no no no I want you to buy it if you're interested how about $12,000 and I said if you want to sell it for $122,000 I'll buy it for $112,000 I'm interested in it and then that's when the wheels started moving and I said you know what this is a perfect car for the auction I think it should do well and then I can maybe give him even more money than what he wanted for this car now there's a little bit of sentimental value on my end for this car I was driving it in college when I would come down and visit I was driving it in my 20s when I would come down and visit and he would let me borrow it from time to time I even did a little bit of burnout with him in it once before which really didn't make him feel too good now sentimental value on my grandmother and grandfather's side because this was their toy this was their baby this was their life this was their hobby so it's a big deal to let this car go but they're getting a little bit older and they don't use it anymore so why have it sit they're going on cruises they're going on vacations now and they could use the money towards something more functional now what I've always loved about these Corvettes right here and these convertibles are so simple so it's just a lever right here a lever right here and then when I lift the front of this roof you'll actually see that the back of this roof lifts up as well so when I lift right here this part lifts up too there's a button right inside here that's hidden that lifts this up and then I can tuck the roof inside now one of my favorite Parts about this car is the waterfall right here this was a big deal for this Corvette because this generation brought back the waterfall which was original in the 50s style Corvettes now one of the most fun things about this car is this engine right here this is a 350 cubic in 5.7 L LS1 V8 putting out what they say is 345 horsepower rumors are that's an underrated value though now this engine revolutionize cars engine swaps this is the engine that everyone wants to swap into their vehicles it is a Workhorse it is a power horse you can produce a ton of power from this engine it is super light and it is very narrow on both sides so it fits and swaps into other vehicles very easily now I would never say that this car has been neglected because he babies it he cares for it he keeps it in the garage he treats it really really well and always has now he had it paint corrected a few years ago he had it detailed a few years ago but as you can see that was a few years ago there's a few tou marks down here there's some bug spots there there's some paint cracking here and we have another bug spot here and then something has happened over here so I'll have to come down here and take care of these things before the auction Hopefully Dr colorchip can take care of that with me and we can fix that issue now the car has dust and dirt on it just from sitting in the garage going down the wheels have no curbing the tires are in great shape the body is straight as an arrow all the way down the side they're the original owner and it's never been in an accident body Lin here are perfect going to the inside dash is not cracked not warped which is pretty common in sunny Florida for the Corvettes the leather amazing condition for the year these are usually cracked worn and Faded now again it's going to need a good detailing maybe I'll work on getting a detailer sent over this month to clean this car up for me so I don't have to do the work when I get down here I love the dual exhaust on this car with the Corvette plate emblem in the middle and then going down the passenger side you can see there's just some swirl marks and debris there's some up right here which I think I can fix with Dr color chip I'm pretty pleased with this car and again interior is great 68,000 Mi but we do have a traction light on which is kind of a bummer so I don't know that I'm going to be able to get that fixed in time this is a great car I'm really happy that he's ready to let it go it's a sad day it's good for them they can have the money it's fun for me it's fun for you you get to see the videos I get to make a video and we have some content and we have some stuff to sell at the auction which makes the auction a little bit more fun and to be quite honest with you a little more stressful too so here's how it's going to work right now it is March auction is 1 month away in April I'm heading home today so I flew down to see my family teaser maybe shuffer some houses I don't know possibly the next flying Wheels we don't know we'll find out and I also wanted to photograph this car in enough time to get it up on the Barrett Jackson brochures marketing material and have them listed on their website so I get to photograph it take pictures of the VIN take pictures of the title pay my grandparents they're going on a cruise while the auction happens so now in a month I have to figure out how to come up here here get this car bring it down to Barrett Jackson in time have it prepped and cleaned in time and then try to sell it and make both of us a little bit of money and again it is a gamble with the auction because it's a no Reserve auction we don't know what we're going to do we don't know what the highest bid's going to do but on a 68,000 Mi triple black clean Corvette we should do better than the $112,000 mark the problem is there's a 10% sellers premium so whatever I sell it for deduct 10% of that now Barrett Jackson's going to make an automa 12 $1,200 or 10% or whatever that is and then we get the remaining balance minus a buyer's fee as well takeing consideration have to fly down there I have hotel accommodations I have food I have prep fees for this car like it's going to cost me some money to get this thing ready and detailed and down there if we sell it for 15 which I think is a very fair price for this car we should do well if we sell it for 13 it's a loss if we sell for 135 even it's a loss for the both of us well for me I take the loss so I'm giving my grandfather $122,000 if we lose money I take the loss if we make money I'll split it with him and that's what we'll find out in the next video this is just part one I'm down in Florida now part two I have to figure out how to get this thing down to the auction and if we're going to sell it that would be auction day in part two so for now thanks for watching my Corvette video this is going to be a fun series because I love those auction videos my name is Craig from flying Wheels thanks for watching see you all later adios [Music] he
