Super cool POV. Usually we only see the videos from the guys who bomb down the snow section and then bypass 100 riders for a top 5 finish. They make it look effortless and it's easy to forget the amount of skill that goes into that.

Nice to see what the "average" rider endures in this race to get the bottom.

I love this and I love the show. This guy is a pretty good rider or at least yeas and years of experience from what I have seen from his shows.

Makes me think about the proโ€™s. What do they do to make this down going pretty fast. I saw the winner of this race and it looked like he had relatively good control.

I mean. Is it a big chuck luck? Or are the proโ€™s actually born with an extremely good ability for riding mtb that normal ppl never can get? Or is it just practice every day for 10+ years?

The winner of the race was not a very old guy was he? In his 20ies? How much experience could be possible have?

I am truly baffled. In the other hand I would be able to ski down that slope at pretty dangerous speeds. And I am no pro but I have been skiing since I was 3 so itโ€™s pretty natural for me. Maybe something similar with the pros? Grew up with bikes and never really stopped biking at all?

They allowed E-bikes? I imagine only in the Amateur start.

This seems to be the best example of when an e-bike would be appropriate. I know that I have a bad view of them but if I were to do the mega like this I think an e-bike would be the way to do it. Due to the downhill nature of this course I wonder though if a lighter bike would have been better, do you think the e-bike helped

Great video ! Loved the amateur perspective. Oddly it made me realize how truly insane the pros are.

If you have a mechanical and canโ€™t fix it, what happens ? Looks like a crazy far walk out. Do they have a sag wagon at the end to clear out the carnage ?

No [Music] here we are this is it it's for ten thousand feet and about hit the mega on an e-bike [Music] three of us are attempting to do this having never done anything like this before the goals simple survival don't get injured get to the bottom of it I'll be using the high bike all-mountain 7.5 which has got 160 ml travel at the front 150 at the rear and a great field to give me the best chance of making it to the bottom this is the world's craziest and longest downhill race starting off high in the sky the temperature is just 1 degrees and ending 10,000 feet lower where it is 25 degrees it's like going through a whole weather year in a single run so this is as crazy as it looks you are sliding down holding on making sure you don't hit anybody and yep that is a tandem doing the mega avalanche at this point I'm just hoping I don't get a puncture these rocks are so sharp and then I think if the snow wasn't much better for me I just kept losing control so it was time for a new tactic yes I was just about to find out if he sit down on hard ice with an e-bike on a steep slope you pick up speed real quick [Music] yeah sorry about the language you know but I just didn't know what to do I was trying everything I could to slow down but I was worried I was gonna go into those sharp rocks on the left smile was going everywhere okay all right unfortunately he wasn't he had to get airlifted to hospital shortly after this it just goes to show how dangerous the mega Avalanche can be there are so many people going down the mountain at once if you fall over there's a big risk you could get really hurt people sending it right we've got so much more the rates to do so let's crack on Andy's discovered what a view land honestly you have no idea how great it felt to get off that snow and onto rocks albeit really sharp gnarly rocks it just felt really however there was still so many hazards and it takes a big full jon-jon at this point I feared the worst but he was severely winded but he managed to recover after a few minutes but with really really painful possibly cracked ribs sorry that was the front runners of the women's race that was behind us they were so fast I just wanted to get the bikes out of the way really quick to avoid any more crashes with Andy a little bit more recovered we've started to continue our way down to ALP d'Huez and do the track that we'd already practiced a couple of times and take in some of these stunning views [Music] [Music] [Music] these Alpine descents are what mountain bikers dream of the views are absolutely incredible the terrain is still really really rocky pretty steep really sharp no real lines there's so many different line choices that you can take down here but it is just unbelievable the view and the exhilaration that you get ride in this kind of course is just out of this world [Music] oh boy they're gonna want raise you it's around here as soon as you start to see the small town of ALP d'Huez that you know that you're around halfway down the course and seeing that you get that real sense of I'm nearly there I'm almost halfway I can actually do this I can actually complete the mega avalanche [Music] [Music] [Music] yeah man the course still is pretty sharp and pretty rocky and it takes his toll on bike and by this point my hands are suffering from arm pump and my fingers way of breaking so much they're just not used to this they really really start to feel the pain around now and on the way down we passed quite a few bike casualties punches bits and pieces that had failed on the bikes that people are fixing by the side of the trail [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] thank you [Music] [Music] [Applause] this was one of the best feelings of all for me going through the crowd and them cheering you on and wanting you to succeed and finish the race and doing the wars and the bowels it was just so motivating [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] but we're nowhere near finished we're just over half of the way through the race we've got this beautiful Alpine Ridge to Clare and then we head into some thick forest with some routine ratty sections and some really really tight switchbacks [Music] [Music] we're on the holy stray right now over 2,600 meters of descent starting on the glass here and just about to arrive at the bottom of the valley in allemande [Music] No [Music] this is the best biking experience of my life the most challenging but most rewarding and it's been even better to be able to share it with some of my mates [Music] the high bike or mountain 7.5 made it down the mountain and took it all like a champ it took an absolute beating from wet snow ice rocks dust and everything in between [Music] mate we're nearly there boy you're loving it yeah it's a good bike isn't it it's just [Music] [Applause] we did it and it's just one of those kind of life things that I've always saw and thought wow that looks insane but you've got to try and do these things every now and again and if you're thinking about something like this I would just just do it come with a couple of mates these two legends here I've sold you Don John the bike pilot and a who had a big fall massive fall oh yeah I think I've broken a rib oh you got down its main thing finished [Music] you
