thank you [Applause] [Music] [Applause] hi everyone welcome back to Riker rides and spider rides I'm so happy you guys are tuning in today thank you thank you thank you thank you if you are new to the channel my name is Beth I live in very hot sunny Florida and I do all kinds of modifications product reviews and that's what my channel is about so if you're new please scroll around and see if there's anything else that you are interested in in my videos also take a second hit that subscribe button it really helps me out so thank you so much all right let's get to it I've had my Can-Am Spider this is a 2012 F3 limited special series a little bit of a mouthful it is the top of the line F3 that Canon makes and I chose the F3 as my second bike Thank You Can Am by the way I chose my F3 because I think it's a sporty looking bike sporty looking vehicle so when I think of an F3 I think of a the Can-Am RT which is the much bigger version the Can-Am RT and the Canon Riker having a love child and this is the outcome so to me a type always described it that's not Can-Am endorsed but that's my that's my view on it's like a perfect combination of the two you've got the comfort and all the nice little nice cities all the nice little accessories that the spider has to offer but it still has that sporty look that I love from the Riker so I'm going to give you a little run down on some of the stats between the two and the differences between the two but more so I want it to be from a perspective of me me as an individual and what my view on it me as a female writer I am five five three and my inseam is 28 inches so a lot of people ask me because my height doesn't really matter but my inseam matters in terms of reaching the brake pedal and reaching other things on the right on The Spider and the Riker so those are my stats you don't need to know my weight for this um so let's talk about price so a lot of people are price is definitely a deciding factor when you're trying to choose between the two a base model Riker and the base model spider the spider is typically it's like twice as much as the base model Riker so I don't want to give hard numbers because those change so much you may be watching this video two years after I make it and the prices are all going to be different but roughly it's twice as much for the spider the base model F3 than the right curve also so this is a 900 CC and this spider is a 1330 CC they both have the same rotax engine the stiff in CC's the horsepower on the Rikers 82 and the horsepower on the spider is 115. also the torque just kind of rough numbers the torque on the Riker these are all 900 there's a 600 model I'm giving you the stats for the 900 and the 900 the torque is 58.3 and the torque on the F3 is 96. so you are getting more power on the spider F3 than the Riker but don't get me wrong or confused the Riker has tons and tons of power off the line not that I've done any racing or anything but off the line I do believe the Riker is faster than the spider only because it's so much lighter so the Rikers weight is 616 pounds and the the weights oh this is the dry weight and the weight of the F3 is 981 pounds I'm pretty sure that's the number 981 pounds so it's a much more solid solid ride but the benefit of having the extra weights on the F3 is when you're on the highway and this is true with kind of any any vehicle you have whether it's a two wheeler or three wheeler when you're riding on the highway the extra weight is going to make you more stable on the highway so if you're passing an 18-wheeler on the record you know you're gonna feel it you know you're going to feel it on this too but not as much you're going to feel much more stable much more planted when you're on this when you're on the spider other little details in terms of comparison the fuel capacity to me is no comparison between the Riker and this and the F3 so the Riker if if you've ridden a Riker or if you've been in a group with Oracle we're always the first people to pull over and say I need gas I need gas you're pointing to the gas tank it is a very very small small tank it is five um 5.28 gallons is what the the fuel tank on the Riker holds and which will get you approximately 117 miles and that varies on the type of writing you do I do more highway riding I do a lot of highway riding which brings down your miles per gallon on these so this will get you about 117 miles from me some people I've heard get much more some people get less but that's my average that the trip computer shows and then on the big beautiful beautiful sexy gas tank on the spider gets you a 7.1 gallons which is just a huge huge huge um I don't remember what my miles per gallon is on this but I don't remember it being that much better than the Riker I'll put that stat on here once I get in my trip computer and figure it out but I do know when I fill it up I get 220 something miles per I've got 220 something miles on it before I need to fill up again so when I'm on my spider on a long distance trip I usually have to pull over because I need a break I need a helmet brake I need a water break I need something before the spider needs gas so and that's awesome for me because you can write a couple of hours easily without having to fill up words and this on the highway it's every hour I'm filling up uh what other what other big differences are there the uh storage capacity is huge difference the storage capacity on the Riker is strictly just this little tiny um storage compartment here it is I'll open it but don't look inside well actually that's not too bad it's a very small storage capacity for the Riker and the storage capacity on this is only 1.85 gallons so it's good to throw you know an extra shirt in there or whatever you're like you could roll up a rain jacket in there maybe a water bottle doesn't hold much more than that so what I did is I supplemented it with a top case from Can-Am I'll put the links for everything that you see on here I'll put down below for you with the top piece it definitely makes it better to be able to go on more long distance rides you can add a lot of accessories to to add storage to it but the way it comes very little storage whereas the F3 has a beautiful beautiful amount of storage it has 36.5 gallons of storage let's just take a peek around at the storage so this is the front storage unit and these bags are not included when you purchase your your spider but you can get them online and of course I'll put the link for you so this just pops out but it's really nice if you're traveling and it has different compartments out there if you're traveling you just fill it up it comes with a shoulder strap as well and you just pick it up and you go when you travel it's just it just makes it so much easier and then if you come around here you have the two side compartments they're both the same and they're both lockable as well which is super nice and also that trunk obviously locks and you can buy extra storage bags if you want to be able to take them with you and they also come with handles as well and that's true for both sides and then in the back and this particular model the the the model that I have comes with this rack but you can always add it to yours if you want it later but this one comes with it and this has a very large nice bin hair and you can it fits at least one full face helmet in here which is super super nice on the Riker I've always had some kind of issues of what to do with the helmet to lock it up bring it in whatever so this is nice to be able to lock it and have that in there some other nice features about this particular this is the limited the seat on here is so comfortable you don't need anything more than possible and this comes with the I got the red so it comes with the red stitching it is just so so plush and so beautiful the back rest is an add-on from Can-Am I have a video out on that and as far as the windshield is concerned the spider originally came with this Sport windshield and I'll show you on here what it would look like and I'll show you there'll be a video coming out very soon on how to swap this out it really is very very easy but I switched it out to the Can-Am touring windshield because I do a lot of touring and this was a little gift from Canon my little Can-Am Beaver let's talk about seat height so the seed height on the Riker is 23.6 inches we're going to spin around and I'm going to show you this is me on the Riker and the Riker is it's so comfortable I love my Riker you are sitting in it you're one with the machine it is just I love my baby girl it's my first love and it is just such a nice a nice fit it is so ergonomically correct for me and I just couldn't be any happier with my Riker and then let me show you how it how it looks for me on the spider and you kind of kind of get a different view on that and as you can tell this is a much higher seat but this also has short reach handlebars so if you notice and my my reach on this is not is not like when I was on the spider RT where it was really far this I feel like I have a really nice sitting position I can have the back support and be able to reach the handlebars at the same time which I was unable to do on the RT and I will come out very soon I'll come up with a video also a comparison video between the F3 and the RT as well but this just works great if you want to swing around and and take a film of my where my foot is on the brake because on the if you remember on the F3 I was unable to reach the brake pedal while sitting all the way back now this I'm totally able to reach everything with the way it's set up when the bike when the Can-Am F3 arrives it had a it was a longer brake linkage bar and so I bought it from Can-Am a shorter the shortest one they have a short linkage bar and I have a video on that too if you're interested in how to replace that and that brought everything closer to me this has similar to the Riker it's a Youfit system where you're able to modify certain things to make it a more enjoyable more comfortable ride for you the Riker is very very easy to manipulate and move things around for you whereas a spider you need tools to do it whereas the Rikers completely there's no tools necessary you kind of it open and close it and it moves quite quickly whereas this you need an extra step extra work extra tools to do it but once it's set you don't have to worry about you forget about it it's all good there's also a storage compartment in here with One USB port here so you can put in your phone and charge it there and the raker has two USB ports in their trunk as well oh maximum load is basically the same they both can carry 449 pounds that's combined weight so if you have a passenger or or if you have a lot of storage in here or at your Towing next this is a big thing for people is the the Riker is fully automatic this is this is the big difference that concerns people the Riker is a 100 fully automatic twist and go it has a reverse so you hit reverse twist and reverses the spider um all spiders are the same all spiders have a paddle shifter which means you shift as you're going through to six speed transmission so you have to paddle up through the through the gears let me show you how easy it is to do obviously my bike isn't on and we're not moving so I'm just going to show you quickly how it is there's a plus sign right here and on the back there's a minus sign so when you're going through and you want to go through the gears and it's so I'll do a whole video on this by itself but it's so easy you just hit this that's all you need to do there's no clutch there's no you don't have to do anything special you just hit this and it seamlessly goes up it is so not intimidating and it's so easy that should not discourage you from getting a spider it is so easy to do as far as downshifting that's optional you don't have to do that because the bike will do it for you if you don't want to actually downshift and the and if you have it in the Eco Mode there'll be a little tiny item a display item on there like an up arrow that will tell you when you need to actually shift so it'll help you when you're new kind of showing you what RPM it needs to be to shift usually the higher the RPMs the smoother the shifting goes I'm I'm actually working out those Kinks right now but when you have it in regular riding mode you can actually hear it it kind of like almost wine stealing it it's a very bad noise but it literally lets you know when it's time for you to up shift and it's it's the whole bike this is so great it has a it has six speakers four up front and two in the back for your passenger as well and you can control everything right here you can Bluetooth your phone to the speakers and you can get your GPS through here you can do it it has an FM radio it just has so many nice things my very favorite thing is this cruise control right here I am on I write like I said I do a lot of Highway running it's so easy to use you know you just turn it on and then you just up if you go and want to go slower you hit down if you want it to go higher you go up it's very very very very self-intuitive very easy to use you know turn it off and you're good to go that might be reverse but it also has which I wish the Riker did is it has a a hazard button so if you're pulled over for whatever reason you hit the hazard button you've got you've got the flashers going like I said it has I think I said it has heated grips maybe I didn't say this earlier it has heated grips for the driver for the rider and also heated grips back hair for the passenger and the button is over here for the passenger and it's just just a little bun right there and then these all heat up for the passenger you can get armrest put on I have I have all the stuff that I'd be doing to it I'm going to present it all to you for um for you guys to look so any modifications I do I will 100 percent be bringing them to you so stay tuned to the channel and if there's anything that you'd like to see or anything I didn't
