[Music] hello everybody welcome to the classroom come on in it's so nice to see you I'm so excited that you are excited for dinosaurs I saw a bunch of our friends waiting for the show to start stomping around Georgia and Carter are stomping Cooper and Crosby loved dinosaurs so excited and Rafa and Gavi doing big roars getting all excited for dinosaurs welcome to the classroom everybody take a look at what I have here today come a little bit closer these are dinosaur ice eggs they've already melted quite a bit while we were waiting for the show to start these are really simple to make we took some small toy dinosaurs and put them inside a balloon filled it with a little bit of water tied it up then put it in the freezer so that it would freeze when it was solid and frozen we took them out cut the balloon off and then we have these dinosaur eggs just waiting to melt and hatch for the dinosaurs inside to be discovered you can make these at home too we have a link in our description below all the details are on our website so you can try these out we just have to wait until they melt and then we can discover these dinosaurs sometimes dinosaur discoveries take a little while hmm well we could help it along um with some warm water of course warm water helps the ice to melt got this really fun thing here that we could drew it on our dinosaur eggs little drip drip drop to help them melt we go drip drip drip drip drip oh I think it's working I can see the water going over the eggs and it's melting we can see the dinosaurs inside come on little dinosaurs you can do it hmm I think this is still gonna take a little while we're gonna have to be patient with these dinosaur eggs sometimes you have to be patient when you're discovering something new for it to come out and reveal itself so you can see what it is but while we're waiting we can give all our friends a big hello let's wave our hands hi everyone and we'll sing a big hello to all of our friends watching hello amazing Penelope likes the Triceratops too and stomping around like a dinosaur stop stop stop there's so many amazing kinds of dinosaurs that paleontologists have discovered over the years a paleontologist are scientists that study dinosaurs and the first dinosaur was discovered in 1819 which is 200 years ago this year and over the past 200 years paleontologists have discovered over 700 different kinds of dinosaurs that's so many and they think that there's even more to discover there's so much to know let's sing a song about just a few of those dinosaurs some of those are your favorites Rafa likes the Spinosaurus yeah let's think about those dinosaurs everybody are you ready here we go look at this here's a Spinosaurus right now now paleontologists believe that Spinosaurus lived in the land on the land and in the water they could go back and forth just like a crocodile does Spinosaurus one little two little three little dinosaurs four little five little six little dinosaurs said Ben little eight little nine little dinosaurs ten little dinosaur [Music] my singing whoa look at this one this is called an ankylosaurus an ankylosaurus is covered in armor and spikes just like a knight I have a big club on their tail and the only part of their body that isn't covered in armor is their bellies one little two little three little dinosaurs four little five little six little dinosaurs seven little eight little nine little dinosaurs ten little dinosaur babies nice counting Ivy whoo this little guy is called a Compsognathus bit of a tricky one to say the cops on little dinosaurs ten little dinosaur baby nice singing Logan and Hannah alright look at this dinosaur this dinosaur is called a Dilophosaurus and it's a laughs yo Soros would be about the size of a brown bear can you imagine one little two little three little dinosaurs four little five little six little dinosaur seven little eight little nine little dinosaurs ten little dinosaur baby see what's next do you know what dinosaur this is it's a velociraptor scientists now believe that a lot of dinosaurs were covered in feathers including the Velociraptor Stroup one little two little three little dinosaurs four little five little six little dinosaurs seven little eight little nine little dinosaurs ten little dinosaur [Music] stop stop stop stop nice job everybody give yourselves a big clap thanks for singing with us truth and justice loved the number song counting all along I'm so glad you had fun Aria you can say calm thought missus I had to practice and sometimes I still get it wrong calmed saag missus it's a really tricky one there's lots of different letters in there ooh let's take a look at our ice eggs let's see how they're doing oh look at all the water they're really melting fast now they're all sliding around in the water - whee I can see a little bit more of the dinosaurs look here's a bit of a head sticking out can you see that and a little bit of a tail here they're starting to come out of their ice shell very cool let's drop a little bit more water on them we'll help them along here we go squeeze out and then the water sucks up go do a little drip drip drop drip drop drip drop come on dinosaurs we want to meet you come on out whoa I can see the head of this dinosaur he's starting to peek out you can see just as just his nose there hmm well we'll have to wait a little bit longer we'll put them over here for now because I have some other dinosaur eggs that we can play with it's a whole dinosaur nest look at these dinosaur eggs they're all different colors there's some blue and green and purple some brown here it's yellow I bet the mommy and daddy dinosaurs are really excited to me there's little baby dinosaurs in the eggs and here they come here is mommy Stegosaurus so excited for the eggs to hatch and daddy t-rex stomp stomp stomp stomp stomp stomp [Music] daddy t-rex looks very scary come over here W to your headaches and here comes a Spinosaurus hello Spinosaurus remember the Spinosaurus with the big shield on its back they can live in land and water they go back and forth there we go we got mummy Spinosaurus and a daddy bear Onix oh let's see look at that look at all the teeth the Baryonyx Wow and here comes a lot of my friends favorite Wow a pterodactyl look at that now the pterodactyl is actually a reptile and scientists now believe that no dinosaurs really flew but these were around when the dinosaurs were around but they were flying reptiles like a big flying lizard and not actually a dinosaur at all that's the neat thing about dinosaurs is were learning new things all the time and some of the things we thought we knew we find out are different look at all these mommy and daddy dinosaurs waiting for their baby eggs to hatch should we help the dinosaur eggs hatch everybody let's do it what color eggs should we open up how about this brown one let's try to a lots of our friends are asking for the eggs Raina's so excited for the eggs let's open it up and see what's inside look it's a baby stag asaurus hello little baby Stegosaurus can we find the right parent for the Stegosaurus is it this one no not the Spinosaurus what about her the Tyrannosaurus no that's not right here comes the Stegosaurus yay there they are mummy and baby we made a little dinosaur family come back over here there they are very nice let's try another egg everybody Helen says the yellow egg okay Helen let's open up this yellow egg here Oh what could be inside do you know which baby this is it's the baby t-rex look at those teeth now which one's the mummy this one they got sharp teeth but that's not a match here comes the Tyrannosaurus is this the daddy yeah daddy and baby Tyrannosaurus Rex another little dinosaur family Declan and Maddie and Ellie are asking for the blue egg okay here's the blue one let's open it up and see what's inside Breanna and Lincoln want the blue one too and Lena and Cooper let's open it up and see what's inside that do you remember what dinosaur this is called what's this one the Spinosaurus let's find the mummy is this the right one no what about this one yeah there's a match the Spinosaurus got our mommy and our baby Spinosaurus they can go in the water or stay on the end they have options here you go little dinosaur family we've two more eggs to open a lot of our friends are asking for the green egg okay Sofia and Lincoln and Crosby off the green egg what dinosaur do you think will be in there I don't know let's open it up and find out here we go whoa what's this one the pterodactyl the flying reptile let's let the pterodactyl baby find its mommy [Music] here they are yay the pterodactyls mummy and baby pterodactyl awesome the flying reptiles we have one more egg our purple egg Clara wants to see inside the purple egg and Molly and Lizzie it's their favorite color let's open it up and see what's inside Georgia wants the purple do purple purple purple purple is it do you remember what this dinosaurs called it's our last one it's the berry onyx look at those teeth and long pointy tail [Music] we made lots of little dinosaur families they're all so happy come on Oh dinosaur family say hello we need a place for our dinosaur families to live hmm we can make a dinosaur family or a dinosaur world together where they can all live I have some things here we'll put the dinosaurs off to the side for now we'll build their world and then we'll bring them out so you can play with them what are some things that a dinosaur needs to have a happy home can you think of some things they might be a lot of the same things that we need things like food and water of course I have some things here that we can use to make a small dinosaur world you can try this at home too we have some details up on our website with different ideas or you can take a look around where you are right now and try and make a big dinosaur world and you can be the dinosaur maybe you could use pillows or toys or books for different things we'll just use our imagination I'm gonna use my imagination with all these things to make some different things for our dinosaurs Logan says the dinosaurs are going to need water of course maybe we can use this blue doh to be our water let's see maybe we could make a lake make a link over here I'll spread out this dough I'll put it maybe I'll make maybe I'll make a river yeah yeah got a Rollie here can roll it out actually maybe I'll make a link soon I'll make a lake over here yeah we made this dough too so we have a recipe you can make your very own dough at home it's really fun to touch into play with so there we go I got a lake and you can use different things to get different textures out of your dough so I'm gonna use this little Rolly thing to maybe make some waves in my lake look at that makes it look really cool there we go I bet the dinosaurs are really gonna like that Lake it can drink the water from it and they can play in it very neat what else will they need well they're gonna need some grass and where our friends are saying the green grass grows all around one of my favorite songs let's make this green grass go all around I'll start over here we'll roll it out use our Rolly roll roll roll [Music] sometimes it's nice to use a roll and sometimes it's fun to use your hands get your hands in there the dinosaurs are gonna roam all over the grass there we go stretch it out all over woof I'm gonna have to really stretch this graphic I'm gonna start using my hands stretch stretch stretch stretch stretch does anyone making a big dinosaur world at home maybe you could have pillows that could be your lake yeah Lincoln says they need some grass Lizzie says green grass of course here we go I'm gonna take some of this grass over here I'll build it over here yeah the dinosaurs are gonna love this world here we go and let's roll it out make it nice and smooth or as smooth as we can looks great awesome Zoey thinks the Spinosaurus is gonna like it we have some brown dough here maybe we can make some area over here where there isn't any grass sometimes when the water reaches the grass it'd be a little muddy right that'll be where the Spinosaurus hangs out they can go from the water to the grass go back and forth oh it's starting to look really good there we go this might be oh yeah one of our friends set a place I met for a nest to sleep Penelope says a nest maybe this could be a nice nest area for our dinosaurs here we go we can make some textures in the dough I have a fork here we could rub it in the green dough to make it look a little bit like grass like that yeah so it looks like now there's some texture to it the green grass grows all around the dinosaur world tag green for grass and brown for soil that's right oviya there you go I saw some of our friends said they're gonna need some trees of course lots of dinosaurs like to eat the leaves of trees so we need some tall trees let's maybe put a tall tree over here to look at that and some low trees to some dinosaurs their heads are really low to the ground they're only gonna be able to eat but what's very low so we got to make sure we have some low trees lots of bushes [Music] what can we do with these blue things with some decorative bluebies maybe that could be a part of our water can add them to our water look at them all over here now the water Sparkle yeah Abner says we need some more trees of course you never have too many trees let's add some more trees about this this big tree that's a nice one over here they have some rocks too sometimes you find rocks in the soil you can put some rocks around the lake Roma says that's a lot of dough it really is it's fun to play with let's put some big rocks over here in the soil that might be a good place for the dinosaurs to sleep at night and the rocks can sort of hide them and keep them safe from the rain or the wind or anything else there we go so now it's like a little cave or a little nest for them so nice over here all right now Gabi says that the rocks would be a good cave I think this would be a great home right by the water lots of grass and trees I think we're ready to bring our dinosaurs back so they can play ok here we go let's bring our Spinosaurus come here Spinosaurus stop stop stop stop stop stop stop stop stop stop the Spinosaurus he can hang out on the grass or he could go swimming just like a crocodile hmm what else do we have whoa let's see if I can find our big t-rex stomp stomp stomp stomp stomp stomp a Spinosaurus better hide oh hi behind the tree stomp stomp stomp stomp stomp stomp stomp stomp stomp nobody's here stomp stomp stomp stomp stomp stomp stomp stomp who else can we bring out how about our stegasaurus here he comes hello our Stegosaurus might like to stay in the cave oopsie don't fall over walking over the rocks into the cave well this is a nice home for our Stegosaurus yeah and a pterodactyl our wing addres pile flying over top I don't know if that's what pterodactyl sound like we're just guessing top top top oh maybe the pterodactyl can land right on the tree be way up high in the tree look at that a big dinosaur world with lots of dinosaurs all kinds whoo stomp stomp stomp stomp stomp stomp stomp stomp here's our Triceratops he wants to hang out with this stegasaurus that means he's saying hello look at our awesome dinosaur world's we got some dinosaurs that swim in the water too look at this one swim swim swim nice Evy says her favorite part about the dinosaur world is everything thanks for making it with me everyone you all had some great ideas I love our dinosaur world you can make one at home we have the link in our description below with lots of different ideas and you can make the big dinosaur world too or you can pretend to be the dinosaur stomp stomp stomp let's stomp over here together everybody we go stomp stomp stomp stomp stomp stop look there's another dinosaur a Stegosaurus are you ready for another round of dinosaurs everybody and more singing yeah more singing more counting let's learn about all these different dinosaurs together woohoo are you ready everyone here we go we know this dinosaur it's the Stegosaurus now the Stegosaurus is one of those plant eaters that ate all the leaves and shrubs that were close to the ground because look how low his head is very low to the ground that's all they could reach one little two little three little dinosaurs four little five little six little dinosaurs seven little little dinosaurs ten little dinosaur day I think everybody I don't know let's sing about oh here it is the Triceratops look at those horns Triceratops means three-horned face in greek because of the three horns on its face can you see them I see one two three one little two little three little dinosaurs four little five little six little dinosaurs seven little eight little nine little dinosaurs ten little dinosaur baby Triceratops nice singing Clarkie look at this one this dinosaur is called a brontosaurus it's the longest dinosaur of all the dinosaurs and its name means Thunder lizard one little two little three little dinosaurs four little five little six little dinosaurs seven little eight little nine little dinosaurs ten little dinosaur baby great counting aroma could be next well we know this dinosaur don't we this is the Tyrannosaurus Rex the largest of all the meat-eating land dinosaurs I said before that paleontologists think that all dinosaurs now were covered in feathers even the Tyrannosaurus Rex near majus all covered in feathers one little two little three little dinosaurs four little five little six little dinosaurs seven little little dinosaurs ten little dinosaur baby stomp stomp stomp stomp great singing everybody Haley is roaring like the t-rex and everly singing along thanks for singing with me everybody Oh Abner says oh no everybody run away yeah if you saw t-rex you probably want to get out of the t-rexes way for sure it's the biggest meat-eating dinosaur whoa dig it and Kieran liked to roar like a t-rex let's give a big roar all together everybody ready here we go oh yeah that feels good there's so much to learn about dinosaurs there's such incredible creatures and so many different kinds and a great place to learn about dinosaurs is a museum like the Canadian Museum of Nature in Ottawa Ontario let's take a field trip to the Canadian Museum of Nature we'll meet a real paleontologist and see some real dinosaur bones I'm so excited let's go everybody gun [Music] we are at the Canadian Museum of Nature in Ottawa Ontario there's so much to see here but let's go find the dinosaurs whoa look at all the dinosaurs so big eighty-five million years ago these giant dinosaurs were alive and walking all over the planet and most of the bones that you see here are real dinosaur bones that have been found all over the earth I think that's pretty amazing Wow Triceratops Wow these horns it's amazing just how big dinosaurs are and look a big tail [Music] this is the head of a Parasaurolophus it might have blown air all the way through the top of his head when it would come out it might sound like this that's what they would talk to each other hi Parasaurolophus this si this dinosaur has feathers it's called an Archaeopteryx and it's one of the first Birds that was ever discovered I've never seen a bird like that [Music] look at this one he have big horns on their head but I wonder why do they have those holes there hi Katie hi everyone this is dr. Jordan Mallon he's a paleontologist here at the Museum that means he studies dinosaur bones so Jordan I guess how come they had those holes Merritt well this is an animal called Styracosaurus and it was a horn dinosaur and all horned dinosaurs have these big frills on the back of their heads covered with spikes and I would have been pretty heavy so we think that these animals have holes than their frills in order to lighten the load oh so their heads not as heavy to carry around that's right that still looks really good absolutely I think so yeah hey I got something cool to show you you want to come see it yeah love to see something cool let's check it so Katie I have a something else I'd like to show you I want to show you the difference here between a plant eating in a meat eating dinosaur this is a jaw from something called the duck-billed dinosaur and if I flip it around here you can see that it's got hundreds of teeth growing up through here there's so many that's right yeah they grew up in these rows together and if I spin this thing around you can see the sort of the business side of things all these teeth form a big flat grinding surface here for grinding up tough plants so these are plant eaters exactly yep how they really do grind those teeth they do in fact that's why they have so many teeth because as their teeth grind down on one side there's always new ones coming up on the other side to replace them absolutely okay what about these teeth so that's the jaw of a Tyrannosaur we've all heard of those guys before and they have big sharp pointy teeth growing up here so this must be a meat-eater exactly these big sharp pointy teeth are used for cutting through through is really sharp and they're also replacing although they don't have quite as many of these these duck-billed dinosaur I guess they don't need them exactly yep so behind us here we have an animal called hypocracy Saurus and my question for you is is this a plant eater or is this a mediator okay let's take a look I see the teeth are flat like this one so I'm gonna say it's a plant exactly bingo a high pack restaura was a plant here in fact was a Vietnam we'll call it the duck-billed dinosaur just like this guy here so we know from the flat teeth that these guys were eating plants where do you find all of these dinosaur bones well we have to dig them up in the earth in fact we have a really cool activity here at the Museum where you get to do just that would you like to see it yeah I'd love to cool let's check it out okay so check this out Katie this is what we call a jacket a plaster jacket containing the bones of a dinosaur is a real dinosaur bones they are there it's actually the foot of a duck-billed dinosaur called the hadrosaur yep and so when we dig these things up we bring them back to the museum here and we work on them with tools like this to finish getting them out of the ground did you want to give that a shot maybe yeah it'll be lots of fun I think okay let's try it so what you want to do is you want to scrape away the rock that's actually surrounding the bones you have to be careful I don't want to hurt the bone yes it is it takes a long time sometimes maybe weeks or sometimes months depending on how part the rock is but eventually you'll get the bones out of the rock and you can assemble them you can put them together and a figure out what the dinosaur would have looked like and then we know how big it was yeah we can study how big it was we can study what it ate by teeth for example and we can build a reconstruction of what we think the animal would have looked like in real life and we actually have in our gallery at the other end here some dinosaur reconstruction so you can see what they look like the life muscles and everything exactly I want to see that check it out okay let's go see it everyone thank you so much for showing me all this dr. Gordon it's my pleasure thanks for coming whoa this is what dinosaurs would have looked like in real life remember we saw this one it had balls in the crest of its head and Jordan said it was because it made the head lighter so they could lift it up hello so this is what it looks like when the skin is covering it's really pretty these must be meat-eaters they have sharp teeth there's so much to learn about dinosaurs and paleontologists like our friend Jordan are discovering new things every day maybe one day you'll discover a dinosaur and it could be on display at a museum like the Canadian Museum of Nature welcome back to the classroom everybody I hope you had fun on that field trip a lot of our friends are really enjoying seeing all those awesome dinosaurs and learning about the teeth isn't that neat you can tell what what a dinosaur ate by looking at their teeth our friend Teagan's mom says she has flat teeth and she likes to eat a lot of salads so she could be a plant eater Camden and Jackson they visit dinosaurs at the Houston Museum of Natural Science I love visiting museums and seeing those dinosaur bones our friend ivy lives in Ottawa and she says that the Canadian Museum of Nature is her favorite Museum she likes to go there with her best friend Eddie and you know what I think it's my favorite museum too a big thank you to dr.
