Buying A Mini Truck For Rural Life

welcome back to today's project I haven't already guessed this video is all about my mini truck specifically why I bought it and how I use it around The Wood Yard farm and Rural life in general it's a 1992 Suzuki carry Japanese mini truck it has a real six foot bed with fold down Gates on all sides and I added the spray-in bed liner I installed a small lift kit to fit a bit larger 23 inch tire they look pure off-road but are actually DOT approved for Road use the undercarriage and drivetrain is reminiscent of most other Japanese 4x4s you'd be used to seeing just on a smaller scale the interior is quite similar sharing many design features with 80s and 90s models Japanese vehicles it has a five-speed manual transmission with an extra low granny gear to boot heat air conditioner and even a single speaker AM radio Auto style headlights with high and low beams fog lights and work light in the bed I upgraded all the bulbs on the truck to LED which on a vehicle this size really removed a bit of draw on the charging system the cab sits over top of the three cylinder 660 CC gas engine the seats are easily removed for Access and service and the gear shift panel unbolts and removes as well for more access if needed that was really nice when I replaced the water pump and timing belt if you've seen any of my other videos you know I use the mini truck for smaller residential firewood deliveries and around The Wood Yard quite a bit if you haven't checked those out here's a link to watch after this video the mini truck is low to the ground and super easy to work out of I often tell my customers why should I bring the wheelbarrow when I can drive one foreign that being said the truck is no slouch it'll handle a one-third cord bulk bag of firewood no problem these bags weigh in around the ton when green and close to 1500 pounds when seasoned there's normally bigger trucks around The Wood Yard for this type of work but in a pinch the mini easily handles it foreign [Music] [Music] Suzuki is also great for micro login we've been hit hard by the emerald ash borer beetle which has taken out the majority of our ash trees the winch on the mini truck works great for skidding and yard and smaller logs out of the woods be cut up for firewood my brother-in-law a fabricator by trade built the bumpers in the winch mount for the truck it's held up extremely well and comes in handy quite often foreign the rear bumper has a two inch receiver hitch perfect for moving lighter loads around the farm or neighborhood I haven't pushed the limits from time to time [Music] the shop is on the other side of the farm from The Wood Yard and it's much easier to work on things there with a vehicle lift welder and compressor I'm loading the Split Force on the trailer here to move to the shop for some maintenance many truck works really well for short distances [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] it's really handy for moving the smaller wood splitters around as well the truck's great at moving just about anything if you need multiple attachments for a project it can easily haul the extras to the work site like this plow I'm moving here foreign it even handles huge Boulders with no issues let's talk cost I purchased my mini truck from a dealer here in the states in stock OEM condition for 7 500 US dollars they purchased the truck in Japan shipped it here and handled all of the customs and paperwork you can save a significant amount of money if you handle that on your own but at the time I wasn't confident in my ability to take care of all that knowing what I know now I'd 100 tackle it myself and I'm actually looking at another vehicle to import soon I've since added the winch and bumpers window tint spray in liner lift kit tires and other doodads call it another five grand I'm into the truck for 12 500 bucks that's a pretty good savings from a similarly equipped UTV with a much bigger bed to boot the mini truck off-roads really well axle-lock rear diff lock extra low gear this thing really shines it hasn't gotten stuck yet but I've got the winch if it ever does [Applause] [Music] thank you the most common chore used the mini truck for is fuel runs I've got a 50 gallon auxiliary tank mounted in the bed which is great for fuel and equipment around the farm [Music] it's also a blast to drive and a real conversation starter [Music] though that's kilometers not miles per hour foreign a mini truck checks all the boxes for me a mix of work and chores on-road and off with a bit of fun mixed in your needs may vary but definitely take a look at one of these when searching for a farm truck or UTV the little Suzuki even makes a great hunting truck which is what I'm using it for now right in the thick of turkey season so I'll end this video here and hit the woods as always thank you so much for watching if you enjoyed the video please like And subscribe to the channel and I'll see you on the next project
