and here's to all of you fathers out there here's to you here's to you who made a difference in the lives of your children there is a song at the top of the music charts that illustrates the power of father's love can have it started out as a song that Bob Carlyle wrote just for his daughter Brooke butterfly kisses y'all heard that song butterfly kisses it's all about his realization that his daughter was no longer daddy's little girl and now they're very private song has gone public in a big way here's bob carlisle singing butterfly kisses Bob there's two things she was sent here from heaven and she's daddy's little girl as I drop to my knees by her bed at night she talks to Jesus and I close my eyes and I thank God for all of the trying my whoa besides my first fire oh the cake looks I I must have done something do you serve like the wind goodbye precious father she'll change her name today she'll make a promise and I'll give her away standing in the bride room just she asked me what I'm thinking and I said I'm not sure I just feel like I'm losing my baby and she leader gave me butterfly kisses her mother walk me down about that's my wedding gown daddy cry with all and I to be surfer love every morning kisses I couldn't ask God for more man this is what love is I know I've gotta let her go but always remember every hug and butterfly kiss you you originally you originally wrote this song for your daughter and you were just gonna try to keep it in the family correct yeah I wrote it one evening I'd come home from the road and I was thank you I was tired I think everybody was in bed that night and I'd come into my office and I said and I was I was just very emotional but I pulled out some photos out of a cedar chest that my daughter was in I think you may have shown some of them uh-huh and I think like a lot of dads I've I get busy with the nuts and bolts of daily life and fatherhood and career and all that goes along with it and I had neglected to take the time to realize that I don't have this child under my roof for too much longer and I think she was 16 she was 16 this is just prior to a kid I'm a sweet 16 bash we're gonna have for her uh-huh I came unglued that night the song literally almost in its entirety poured out of me that evening yeah I couldn't play it for I tried to play it from her mom the next morning I had to turn the chair around and face away from her I was blubbering through the thing she left the house your daughter did run oh my wife just left the house yeah yeah I just made her mad yeah cuz you don't like to cry that much Brooke when you heard it for the first time what did you do what did you think what did you say well I just sat there for a while then when everybody left I started bawling cuz I don't like to cry in front of anybody so as soon as they left and they left did you start a crime uh-huh what an absolutely incredible tribute to you as a daughter what an incredible tribute to daughters everywhere who cared for their children and I know that there are many of you out there and over the years we often look at the fathers who don't the deadbeat dads but it just does our hearts good to see one who isn't who just cares about his children I swear thank you you know with all that I've done wrong I must have done something right I I think that's the key phrase of this song is Brooke your only child no I've got a I've got this little guy in a red shirt down here now that Brookes getting all this attention you want a song to song about my boy no I've got one for him it's called get down off of that I know many people are gonna be buying this CD for Father's Day thanks to terrific what's the name of this CD butterfly kisses wait a minute butterfly kisses Bob is it's like a it's a certain kind of kiss you know I didn't know if anybody else even knew what a butterfly kiss was God you I've heard a lot of different versions of it you know we did a culture go ahead we banded eyelashes up against cheeks but I've come to learn that there are a lot of different versions of what butterfly kisses are means when your eyelashes battle against weight yeah when you bat your eyelashes up against the cheek of somebody else oh did you know that I don't think it's it must be a cultural thing maybe no I mean I'm just saying that I you know my girlfriend Gayle was telling me that she thought that's what when you kiss money and then your eyelashes flutter against them I'm saying my dad wasn't a butterfly kisser what I think though I think everybody's had some sort of version of what my kiss is it all means the same thing all means the same thing well great luck with the song thank you all really terrific into the family thank you so much
