where the rate and ease by which covid-19 infections have been transmitted among individuals before even the best prepared authorities found it hard to control its spread one of the country's water sector Giants found a way to help in the best way they could by strengthening their efforts in promoting proper hand hygiene and providing poor communities with sufficient access to water [Music] a 2019 data revealed that over 7 million Filipinos lack access to hand washing facilities with clean water and soap foreign this worsened us lockdowns hit livelihood at the height of the pandemic but in some regions collaboration between schools local government units and the private sector helped a lot in ensuring the students health and safety especially as in-person classes resume for District 3 where our school is located every month unchecking too big they made sure when we had the home visitations the teacher made sure that they were able to follow young hygiene protocols efforts have been made by the government through the Department of Education and the Department of Health in bringing together a national hand washing roadmap toward a safer future for children in the Philippines it is important that we join a whole of nation approach so the private entities and of course the public institutions can join together to combat covet 19. the Manila Water Foundation the Social Development arm of the East Zone concessionaire leads and champions programs on wash or water access sanitation and hygiene which pivoted to wash in pandemic when covid-19 hit the country hence it won for the company the outstanding CSR collaboration project at the league of corporate foundations CSR Guild Awards 2022. the company also sustained its value partnership with a multinational consumer goods Corporation in fulfilling its mission to bring wash for all communities to complement what they can offer for the public and for the schools partnership local government with private sectors especially Manila water it's a hand washing facilities our partnership with Procter and Gamble Safeguard Philippines started in 2019 when we built 32 hand hygiene facilities in Antipolo City Rizal and the national capital region after that when the pandemic occurred we also constructed about 35 hand hygiene facilities in public spaces and for this year we are constructing 285 hand hygiene facilities in NCR and the latest and greatest with their collaboration is the Safeguard safe washing schools program with Manila Water Foundation is to make sure that all schools in Metro Manila would be star rated by the time that they reopen in the normal [Music] to date on Metro Manila lgus and key cities across the country have benefited from this partnership particularly the country's covid-19 Ground Zero call San juanos Ground Zero as we call it of uh covet in the Philippines promoting hygiene promoting the vaccination and all of these Health protocols that will prevent the transmission of the disease Manila Waters mission is to provide uh 24 7 supply of water to its concession area Manila Water Foundation is our Social Development arm of the Enterprise the foundation's job is to really be a very strong complement to what we do as an Enterprise in celebration of the Sole Provider of water and used water services in the East zone of Metro manila's 25th anniversary this month today we are actually inaugurating a hand hygiene facility under the project with Proctor and Gumball Safeguard Philippines this is actually our seventh inauguration activity in national capital region and halahala Rizal cleanliness is Godliness and obviously with water alone you will not achieve that you need support from other stakeholders and other collaborators [Music] [Applause] very grateful to Manila Water Foundation and Proctor and Gamble Philippines for choosing us to be one of the beneficiaries of your program more than fulfilling its Regulatory Compliance the company continues to pursue its vision for a healthier Philippines through adequate access to Services necessary for Hygiene Improvement the business of running a water utility is a tough business I think a quarter century is always a good Milestone to take stock of what we've done but I think more importantly to look towards the future on what should be done what can be done and hopefully I guess more powerfully how to enlarge and how to enhance our mission thank you responsible brand owners and manufacturers have started voluntarily their epr system it gives a clear signal that the manufacturers who puts plastic in the market would need to recover an equivalent percentage of what they put in
