STUDIO TO YOU GUYS FOR THAT. OKAY. THANK YOU. PAUL. YES, THE PROCESSION HAS JUST BEGUN HERE OUTSIDE OF GRACE CHURCH IN EDEN PRAIRIE. WE SAW THE BODIES OF OFFICER PAUL, ELM STRAND AND OFFICER MATTHEW RUGE LEAVING THE CHURCH. FIREFIGHTER PARAMEDIC ADAM FINSETH WAS LAID TO REST AT FORT SNELLING YESTERDAY. HE IS AN ARMY VETERAN. TWO TOURS IN IRAQ THIS PROCESSION WILL GO FROM EDEN PRAIRIE TO BURNSVILLE AND WE HAVE FOX NINES KAREN SCULLIN ON THAT PROCESSION ROUTE WITH A LOOK AT JUST THE COMMUNITY RESPONSE THAT'S HAPPENING OUT THERE TODAY. KAREN ROUTE HERE IN BURNSVILLE, AT LEAST PART OF IT OUTSIDE THE CITY HALL WHERE THE MEMORIALS HAVE BEEN SET UP ALL WEEK LONG FOR THE FALLEN FIRST RESPONDERS, THE PARADE ARE PROCESSION ROUTE HERE. LOOKS LIKE A LOT OF CARS. I THINK PEOPLE ARE JUST STAYING WARM UNTIL IT DOES GO BY. HERE WE WERE AT PRINCE OF PEACE CHURCH EARLIER WHERE THEY ALSO SHOWED AND UH, THE SERVICE TO A LOT OF PEOPLE, I'D SAY MAYBE ABOUT 100 TO 150 PEOPLE GATHERED AT. AND THEY GAVE US VARIOUS REASONS WHY THEY FELT THEY COULD GATHER. IT WAS MORE IMPORTANT TO GATHER THERE RATHER THAN MAYBE INSIDE THEIR HOMES. A LOT OF THEM JUST WANTED TO SUPPORT BURNSVILLE. THEY WEREN'T EVEN FROM THE COMMUNITY. THEY WANTED TO COME OUT OF THEIR HOMES, LET BURNSVILLE KNOW THAT THEY CARE ABOUT THEM, AND THAT THEY CARE ABOUT THE FIRST RESPONDERS AND THE FALLEN. FIRST RESPONDERS AS WELL. NOW WE SPOKE TO THEM A COUPLE OF THEM FOLLOWING THE SERVICE. LET'S HEAR WHAT THEY HAD TO SAY. BE HERE IN THIS MOMENT JUST TO BE ABLE TO SEE THAT THE CITY IS BEHIND OUR FELLOW BROTHERS. THE POLICE, NOT ONLY POLICE, BUT THE FIREFIGHTERS. YOU KNOW, A LOT OF STUFF THAT THE PEOPLE DON'T SEE, LIKE FIREFIGHTING, YOU KNOW, EVEN IN TRAINING, YOU KNOW, OUR LIVES ARE ON THE LINE. YOU KNOW, THINGS CAN HAPPEN WHICH YOU KNOW, DOWN IN A&M, I EXPERIENCED SOME STUFF MYSELF. SO, YOU KNOW, EVERY MOMENT, YOU KNOW, EVERY CALL, EVEN THE SMALLEST THING CAN TURN INTO SOMETHING THAT CAN BE OUR LAST TIME THAT WE CAN SEE OUR FAMILIES. SO YOU KNOW, I JUST ENCOURAGE EVERYONE JUST TO GET BEHIND OUR MEN AND WOMEN IN UNIFORM. I THINK GATHERING WITH YOUR COMMUNITY IS THE BEST WAY TO HEAL. UM, AND AS MY COLLEAGUE SAID, I THINK IT'S SO IMPORTANT TO SHOW EVERYONE RIGHT NOW THAT WE'RE SUPPORTING, UM, WE'RE SUPPORTING PUBLIC SAFETY AND WE'RE SUPPORTING EACH OTHER THROUGH THIS. AND TO HAVE THOSE AROUND YOU KNOWING THAT REALLY GIVES SOME INNER PEACE. NOW I ASKED ALSO, DID THIS SERVICE PROVIDE ANY CLOSURE FOR THOSE WHO ARE GRIEVING? AND THEY SAID YES AND NO, AND YES, IT DOES TO A POINT. BUT IT'S ALSO REALLY JUST SERVES AS A REMINDER AND AN IMPORTANT REMINDER THAT SO MANY MEN AND WOMEN PUT THEIR LIVES ON THE LINE EVERY SINGLE DAY FOR THEM. AND THEY SAID, THAT'S IMPORTANT TO THINK OF AND TO REMEMBER AS WE MOVE FORWARD, FOLLOW ALL OF THIS. THE SERVICE AND THE PROCESSION. TODAY WE'LL SEND IT BACK TO YOU. KAREN SCULLIN IN BURNSVILLE, THERE TODAY ON THE PROCESSION ROUTE IN BURNSVILLE, THIS PROCESSION LEAVING EDEN PRAIRIE NOW, AS WE SEE OUTSIDE GRACE CHURCH AND HEADED FOR BURNSVILLE, WHERE IT WILL PASS IN FRONT OF THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND THE POLICE DEPARTMENT, AND WE'RE JUST GOING TO LET IT HAPPEN. NOW, FOR THOSE OF YOU WATCHING AND LISTENING AGAIN, THIS IS THE END RESULT. THE LAST PHASE OF THIS PUBLIC SAFETY MEMORIAL SERVICE THAT BEGAN SHORTLY AFTER 11 A.M. THIS MORNING AS THE FAMILY AND FIRST RESPONDERS OF ALL, ALL TYPES OF PROFESSIONS MAKE THEIR WAY FROM EDEN PRAIRIE AS KELSEY JUST NOTED, THROUGH BURNSVILLE AND THEN THEY WILL ALL DISPERSE AT NORTHBOUND I-35. THERE ON THE RAMP. SO LET'S JUST LISTEN IN AND TAKE IT IN . I DO . ALL RIGHT. WE ARE IN THE MIDST OF THE PROCESSIONAL THAT LEFT GRACE CHURCH IN EDEN PRAIRIE. UM AS YOU CAN SEE FOR YOURSELVES, LITERALLY HUNDREDS, IF NOT THOUSANDS OF FIRST RESPONDER VEHICLES ARE PART OF THIS PROCESSION. WE HAVE IT COVERED FOR YOU BOTH FROM THE AIR. THIS RIGHT NOW IS 169 PIONEER LEAVING EDEN PRAIRIE, AND THEY WILL MAKE THEIR WAY THROUGH BURNSVILLE, PASSING BOTH THE POLICE STATION AND THE FIRE STATION AND ND AND THEN END AND DISPERSE ON 35 W NORTH. DEBRIS AND CHIEF AXTELL FOR SOME UM PERSPECTIVE ON MOMENTS LIKE THIS AND WHAT THEY MEAN TO THE LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS, EMS, THE FIREFIGHTERS AND THE FAMILIES, THIS IS A VERY HEAVY WEIGHT FOR FAMILIES OF THE OFFICERS WHO WERE LOST, BUT ALSO ANYBODY WHO IS A SPOUSE OR FAMILY MEMBER OF SOMEBODY WHO WILL GO BACK TO WORK TOMORROW. SO YEAH, THIS THIS REALLY SENDS A STRONG SIGNAL NOT JUST TO THE FAMILY OF THE FALLEN, BUT BUT THE OFFICERS, THE COMMUNITY, UM, IN THE ENTIRE STATE TO JUST SEND THAT CLARION SEND ALL THAT, THAT THIS WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN. THE MOMENTS LIKE THIS, UM, THANKFULLY DON'T HAPPEN VERY OFTEN. AND AS I LOOK OUT AND, UM , YOU KNOW, YOU JUST REMEMBER THESE PROCESSIONS THROUGHOUT YOUR CAREER AND REMEMBER YOU'RE SEEING THE PEOPLE LINING THE STREET AND HOW THAT MAKES A POLICE OFFICER FEEL IS REALLY, REALLY A PROFOUND MOMENT TO FEEL THAT SUPPORT, NOT JUST SEE IT, BUT WHEN YOU FEEL THE SUPPORT AND, AND THE SOUNDS AND THE, THE SOMBER CEREMONY THAT THAT WE'RE ALL WITNESSING TODAY IS SOMETHING THAT WILL LAST WITH OUR COMMUNITY, OUR OFFICERS, AND CERTAINLY THE FAMILY FOR DECADES AND DECADES TO COME FROM A GROUND LEVEL PERSPECTIVE, WE'RE SEEING IT BOTH IN EDEN PRAIRIE AND VARIOUS POINTS THROUGHOUT THIS PROCESSION ROUTE. OUR CORN HOGGART IS THERE AT THE GROUND LEVEL ALONG THE PROCESSION ROUTE. I'D LIKE TO BRING HIM INTO THIS CONVERSATION NOW BECAUSE HE'S WITNESSING IT FIRSTHAND. AND AT THAT BIRD'S EYE VIEW, CORN, GIVE US A SENSE OF WHAT YOU'RE EXPERIENCING NOW THAT THE PROCESSION HAS BEGUN. YEAH, THE GATHERING HERE WAS PRETTY JOVIAL UP UNTIL JUST A FEW MOMENTS AGO, AND WE SAW ALL THE VEHICLES STARTING TO ARRIVE, AND THEN EVERYBODY TURNED PRETTY SOMBER HERE JUST A LITTLE WHILE AGO, AND I'LL STEP OUT AND LET YOU GUYS CONTINUE TO SEE THIS PROCESSION AS IT GOES BY. BUT I CAN TELL YOU THAT THIS CROWD HAS BEEN OUT HERE, SOME OF THEM AS EARLY AS 8 A.M. TODAY, SUFFERING THROUGH THE COLD WEATHER BECAUSE IT WAS THAT IMPORTANT TO THEM TO PAY THEIR RESPECTS TO THE FALLEN FIREFIGHTER PARAMEDIC AND THE TWO POLICE OFFICERS HERE. YOU CAN SEE A LOT OF FOLKS COMING IN HERE, THE POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENTS HAVE ALREADY DRIVEN THROUGH, AND NOW IT'S KIND OF THE SUPPORT TEAMS. THE FAMILY HERE IN THIS BUS. RIGHT? RIGHT BY US. BUT WE HAD DOZENS OF PEOPLE OUT HERE AT PIONEER HT ITA MANDATORY FOR THESE FOLKS WHO ARE IN THESE BUSSES AND THE FIRE AND POLICE VEHICLES TO FEEL THIS SUPPORT, TO KNOW THAT THEY ARE APPRECIATED, TO KNOW THAT EVERYTHING THAT THEY DO IS IMPORTANT TO THIS COMMUNITY. AND THEY WANTED TO MAKE SURE THAT THEY WERE HONORED FOR THE SERVICE THAT THEY PROVIDED. AND OF COURSE, GIVING THEIR LIVES IN THAT SERVICE. AND NOW WE'RE STARTING TO SEE SOME OF THE SUPPORTING COMMUNITIES HERE. SAVAGE COMING THROUGH AND, YOU KNOW, THEY ARE PICKING UP SOME OF THE WEIGHT FOR BURNSVILLE IN THE POLICE. UM THE POLICE DEPARTMENT TAKING THEIR DAYS OFF SO THEY CAN GRIEVE AND PREPARE FOR THIS DAY. UM, WE DID SEE OVER AT FLYING CLOUD AIRPORT JUST HOW MANY LAW ENFORCEMENT VEHICLES WOULD BE INVOLVED IN THIS PROCESSION. AND IT IS A LOT. THIS STARTED GOING PAST US NOW. MAYBE FIVE MINUTES AGO, AND I ANTICIPATE IT WOULD GO FOR AT LEAST 15 MINUTES GIVEN THE HUNDRED OF CARS THAT I SAW WAITING TO GO BY. AND IT'S JUST AN INCREDIBLE MOMENT OUT HERE THAT A LOT OF THESE PEOPLE HAVE, UH, WAITED ALL DAY TO SEE. AND KNOWING THAT THEY HAVE BEEN PAYING ATTENTION TO THIS FOR WEEKS, ONE OF THEM ACTUALLY COMPLAINED BECAUSE SOMEBODY CAME UP AND SAID, WHY ARE WHY IS EVERYBODY HERE? AND THEY'RE LIKE, WHAT ARE YOU LIVING UNDER A ROCK? BUT UM, THEY, THEY, THEY FELT IT WAS, UH, AN IMPORTANT THING THAT EVERYBODY SHOULD KNOW IS GOING ON. AND YOU SEE A LOT OF AMERICAN FLAGS OUT HERE. YOU SEE A LOT OF THE THIN BLUE LINE FLAGS, BUT A LOT OF HANDS ON HEARTS AND PEOPLE JUST, YOU KNOW, WRAPPED UP IN THEIR EMOTIONS. I BEFORE THIS EVEN CAME BY, BEFORE THE PROCESSION STARTED IN THIS AREA, THE PEOPLE WERE IN TEARS TALKING TO US JUST ABOUT WHY THEY CAME OUT HERE AND HOW IMPORTANT IT WAS TO THEM, AND KNOWING THAT THE PAIN ON THAT. THE BURNSVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT, THE BURNSVILLE FIRE DEPARTMENT, UH, THE MEMBERS OF THOSE DEPARTMENTS ARE SUFFERING. SO I'LL LET YOU GUYS JUST KIND OF WATCH THIS AND PROGRESS THROUGH. BUT, YOU KNOW, I THINK A LOT OF PEOPLE OUT HERE, YOU SEE THAT THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF THEM. AND YOU KNOW, I KNOW THAT THAT FILLS THE HEARTS OF A LOT OF MEMBERS OF THE FIRST RESPONDER TEAMS. AND I THINK IT'S, UH, IT'S A GOOD THING THAT ALL OF THESE ALL THESE DEPARTMENTS ARE PASSING BY AND SEEING THIS SUPPORT, EVEN IN THE REALLY COLD WEATHER THAT WE'RE EXPERIENCING. AT ALL THE MOMENT . THAT WAS PASSED . ALL RIGHT. YOU'VE BEEN WATCHING THIS PROCESSION FOR THESE THREE FALLEN FIRST RESPONDERS. OFFICER MATTHEW ROONEY, PARAMEDIC, FIREFIGHTER ADAM FINSETH AND OFFICER PAUL ELM STRAND. THIS PROCESSION HAS NOW MADE ITS WAY ONTO 169 SOUTH AND TO SAVAGE, IT STARTED IN EDEN PRAIRIE AT GRACE CHURCH AND IT WILL HEAD TO BURNSVILLE PAST THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND POLICE DEPARTMENT. THERE AND YOU CAN SEE THAT THIS IS PROBABLY GOING TO BE HUNDREDS, IF NOT MAYBE A THOUSAND CARS LONG. WE'VE BEEN LUCKY ENOUGH TO HAVE FORMER SAINT PAUL POLICE CHIEF TODD AXTELL WITH US TODAY. AND YOU NOTICED SOMETHING WHILE WE WERE WATCHING THIS PROCESSION MOVE THROUGH EDEN PRAIRIE. AND THAT WAS THERE'S AN AWFUL LOT OF OFFICERS. AND FIRST RESPONDERS INVOLVED TODAY, BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN THE WORLD STOPS. YEAH THAT'S CORRECT. IT JUST OCCURS TO ME AS I WATCH, UH, WHAT WHAT SEEMS TO BE THE WORLD STANDING STILL HERE AS WE WATCH OUR FIRST RESPONDERS FROM THROUGHOUT THE STATE AT, UH, SUPPORT OUR FALLEN , UM, THROUGHOUT THE STATE AT THE VERY SAME TIME, WE HAVE, UH, POLICE AND FIRE, UH, PROFESSIONALS OUT THERE RESPOND TO, UH, OUR COMMUNITY'S WORST MOMENTS. CALL AFTER CALL. THEIR BUSINESS GOES ON AS USUAL. OUR OFFICERS AND FIREFIGHTERS ARE OUT THERE DOING THE DIFFICULT WORK. AND I THINK IT'S GOOD TO REMEMBER THEM AS THEY'RE GOING TO HAVE TO GRIEVE AT A LATER TIME AS THEY'RE OUT THERE DEALING WITH EMERGENCIES TODAY. THERE WILL BE DIFFICULT CALLS TODAY. YES. UM, YOU KNOW, THEY WERE DOING THE BELL SERVICE DURING THE MEMORIAL SERVICE, AND I MAY NOT BE QUOTING THIS EXACT, SO CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG, BUT I WROTE DOWN THAT IT, NUMBER ONE, SYMBOLIZES THE YEARS OF SERVICE FOR THE OFFICERS. BUT WHEN THEY TOLD THE BELL IT'S ALWAYS IT'S ALL ALSO SYMBOLIC OF ANSWERING THE CALL, HELPING YOUR FELLOW MAN MOVE TOWARD DANGER AND SO MUCH OF THIS SERVICE IS, UM, IT'S JUST STEEPED IN TRADITION AND THERE'S COMFORT IN THAT. IF YOU CAN TALK A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE LAW ENFORCEMENT MEMORIALS AND HOW FIRE AND POLICE HAVE THESE MEMORIALS AND WHY, AND THERE'S A CERTAIN ORDER TO THINGS. YEAH IT'S VERY TRADITIONAL. AND I WAS SO IMPRESSED TODAY AS I WATCHED ALL OF THE PLANNING, THE CULMINATION OF ALL THIS PLANNING, COMING TO PLACE TODAY WITH POLICE AND FIRE HONOR GUARDS, UH, OUR STATE'S LEMA HONOR GUARDS WORKING SO CLOSELY TOGETHER AND SUCH A RESPECTFUL WAY TO MAKE SURE THE FAMILY UNDERSTAND HOW HOW IMPORTANT THIS IS TO US. THEY DID AN INCREDIBLE JOB. AND, YOU KNOW, AS I HEAR YOU KNOW, YOU THINK OF THE SOUNDS THAT YOU BRING YOU BACK MEMORIES AND THE TOLLING OF THE BELL, YOU KNOW, THE START OF THE CALL, BUT ALSO THE FINALITY OF THE END OF A LIFE. AND, UM, YOU KNOW, THE TOLLING OF THAT BELL, EACH, EACH TOLL IS JUST KIND OF A SHOT TO OUR COLLECTIVE SOUL AS WE HEAR THAT TOLL. AND IT REALLY IMPACTS , UM, POLICE AND FIRE. UM, FIRST RESPONDERS IN A SIGNIFICANT WAY. WHEN YOU HEAR THAT SOUND, JUST TO LET OUR VIEWERS KNOW IF YOU'RE TRYING TO FOLLOW THE PROCESSION ALONG ITS ROUTE, IT IS A FAIRLY DETAILED ROUTE. BUT WE'RE IN SAVAGE RIGHT NOW WITH THIS GROUND VIEW PERSPECTIVE. WE HAVE RIGHT NOW. UM, AND AGAIN, THIS WILL I'M NOT GOING TO GIVE YOU THE WHOLE ROUTE, BUT IT WILL EVENTUALLY PASS BY BURNSVILLE FIRE STATION TWO, UH, VIA HIGHWAY 13 TO COUNTY ROAD 11. UM, AND THEN EVENTUALLY, AFTER IT GETS THROUGH BURNSVILLE PARKWAY, UH, CIVIC CENTER PARKWAY, IT WILL PASS BURNSVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT AS WELL. AND THEN THE LITERAL THOUSANDS OF VEHICLES WILL THEN TRAVERSE UP AND MAKE THEIR WAY ONTO I 35 W UH, NORTHBOUND. AND THEN THEY WILL JUST TRADITIONALLY DISPERSE. AND AS CHIEF AXTELL JUST POINTED OUT, GET BACK TO WORK. THAT'S ESSENTIALLY THE MENTALITY THAT THEY TAKE ON A DAY LIKE TODAY WHEN THIS IS FINISHED, ROB OLSON TALKED ABOUT THE SERVICE WHERE YOU NEVER HEARD 7000 PEOPLE BE SO QUIET. AND I THINK WE'RE SEEING THAT OUT ON THE ROADS RIGHT NOW, TOO. THERE'S JUST THIS SILENCE THAT FALLS OVER AS THESE CARS PASS. CORIN HOGGARD, ONE OF OUR REPORTERS WHO IS ON THE PROCESSION ROUTE, SAID, YOU KNOW, BEFORE THE CARS STARTED PASSING BY, EVERYBODY WAS TALKING. BUT THE MOMENT THERE'S JUST THIS UNSPOKEN AND EVERYTHING FALLS SILENT OUT OF RESPECT AND, UM, IT'S IT EVEN ON THIS COLD 17 DEGREE DAY, WE'RE SEEING SO MANY PEOPLE WHO ARE OUT THERE DURING THE SERVICE TODAY. WE ALSO HEARD THAT CEREMONIAL LAST CALL. AND YOU TALKED ABOUT THAT, CHIEF. THEY THEY THEY CALLED THEIR NAME OVER THE POLICE RADIO WITH THEIR BADGE AND CAN YOU EXPLAIN AGAIN FOR US JUST WHY THAT IS DONE AND HOW THAT IS PERFORMED WHEN THERE IS A FALLEN OFFICER? YEAH. SO IT'S A TRADITION THAT GOES BACK DECADES AND DECADES WHERE, UH, YOU KNOW, WHEN YOU GO IN SERVICE , OFFICERS WILL. WELL TODAY THEY NORMALLY DO IT ON THEIR, THEIR COMPUTERS, BUT TRADITIONALLY YOU WOULD GET ON THE RADIO, GIVE OUT YOUR SQUAD NUMBER AND SAY, I'M IN SERVICE. SO THE DISPATCHER AND THE CALL TAKERS, UH, UNDERSTAND THAT YOU'RE READY FOR CALLS AT THE END OF THE AT THE END OF YOUR SHIFT. UM THE DISPATCHER WOULD COME ON AND GO THROUGH A ROLL CALL TO MAKE SURE EVERYBODY'S ACCOUNTED FOR. EACH OFFICER WOULD GET ON, CALL OUT THEIR SQUAD NUMBER AND SAY, I'M NOT IN SAINT PAUL. THAT MEANT END OF TOUR. THAT MEANS THEY'RE DONE WITH THEIR SHIFT AND IF YOU DON'T MAKE IT HOME, IF YOU DON'T MAKE IT BACK AT THE END OF YOUR SHIFT, IT'S A TRADITION OF A DEEP LEVEL OF RESPECT. TO DO THAT FINAL CALL. AND WHEN THEY'RE ABSENT, UM, TO JUST TAKE THAT MOMENT TO HONOR THEIR LIVES. AND I'D ALSO LIKE TO JUST ADD ONE MORE THING TODAY, AS I AS WE'RE TALKING ABOUT ALL THE SACRIFICES IN THE IN THE SADNESS THAT'S OCCURRING WITHIN THIS PROFESSION, WE HAVE TO TAKE A MOMENT TO REMEMBER THE IMPACT THIS HAS ON OUR CALL TAKERS IN OUR COMMUNICATION CENTERS, OUR DISPATCHERS, THOSE WHO HAVE DEEP RELATION WITH OUR FIRST RESPONDERS AND IT'S SOMETHING THAT'S REALLY IMPACTING THEM TODAY SIGNIFICANTLY. THAT IS SUCH A GOOD POINT TO MAKE. UH, THE AMOUNT OF STRESS THAT THEY ARE UNDER AS, AS DISPATCHERS, UH, TELECOMMUTE SKATERS IN THESE 911 CENTERS, THE AMOUNT OF WORK THAT THEY DO FROM THAT VERY FIRST CALL TO DEFUZE SITUATIONS TO HELP CALM PEOPLE IN STRESS, TO CAREFULLY AND QUICKLY BECAUSE TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE TO GET THE INFORMATION THAT THEY NEED TO GET SOMEBODY TO THAT LOCATION, IT IS IT IS UNBELIEVABLE WHAT THEY DO DAY IN AND DAY OUT, BEHIND THE SCENES. YEAH, DEFINITELY. ON THAT NOTE, UM, LET'S JUST LISTEN TO THIS AND TRY AND GET GAIN THE SAME PERSPECTIVE THAT THOSE PEOPLE WHO ARE TAKING THE TIME AND ENDURING THE COLD TO PUT THEMSELVES OUT THERE TODAY AND WATCH THIS PASS BY . WE'D LIKE TO GIVE OUR VIEWERS SOME PERSPECTIVE ON WHAT THEY'RE SEEING NOW. THIS IS THE LAST VESTIGES OF LAW ENFORCEMENT AND OTHER FIRST RESPONDERS LEAVING EDEN PRAIRIE GRACE CHURCH, WHERE THE, UH, PUBLIC SAFETY MEMORIAL SERVICE BEGAN AT, UH, SHORTLY AFTER 11:00 THIS MORNING. UH, THIS PROCESSION, WHICH, AS WE'VE POINTED OUT EARLIER, IS MADE UP OF HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS OF LAW ENFORCEMENT VEHICLES AND OTHER FIRST RESPONDERS VEHICLES MAKING ITS WAY, UH, DOWN AND TO AND THROUGH BURNSVILLE AS WELL. WE'VE RECEIVED WORD THAT THE PROCESSION HAS REACHED BURNSVILLE. IT WILL GO PAST THE FIRE STATION NUMBER TWO AND THE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND THE OVER THIS TEN DAY STRETCH, WE KNOW THAT DAKOTA COUNTY, WEST SAINT PAUL LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS, UH, FIREFIGHTERS AND EMS HAVE HELPED TO COVER ALL THE SHIFTS OF ANYBODY WHO WAS DIRECTLY AFFECTED BY THIS INCIDENT. AND WHO WORKED WITH THESE FALLEN OFFICERS. AND NOW WE'RE LOOKING AT BURNSVILLE. THIS IS NEW. THE FIRE STATION, BURNSVILLE. YOU CAN SEE THAT CITIZENS HAVE ALREADY ASSEMBLED OUT THERE AS WELL IN ANTICIPATION OF THOSE FIRST VEHICLES. IS UM, FROM THE SERVICE ARRIVING HERE. THIS IS ONE OF THE KEY POINTS THAT THEY WANTED TO PASS BY FOR OBVIOUS REASONS. AND THIS IS THE NEXT STEP. UH IN THIS PROCESSION, AS IT MAKES ITS WAY. NOW BEGINNING VERY CLOSELY THROUGH BURNSVILLE AND AGAIN, KEEP IN MIND, FOLKS WHO ARE LISTENING AT HOME, AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE LOWER LEFT HAND CORNER OF OUR SCREEN, IT'S 19 DEGREES OUT THERE AND THE WIND MAKES IT FEEL MUCH COLDER. SO THESE PEOPLE, THEY ARE HEARTY AND THEY ARE COMMITTED TO SHOWING THEIR RESPECTS AND TO THESE THREE FALLEN FIRST RESPONDERS. THIS IS SAVAGE. UH, AND, YOU KNOW, WHEN WE PULL UP THE SOUND OFF OF OUR CAMERA, YOU HEAR NOTHING. UH, BECAUSE PEOPLE ARE STANDING IN SILENCE, SHOWING THEIR RESPECTS, HANDS OVER HEARTS. UM, MANY. YOU WILL SEE ALONG THE PROCESSION ROUTE. ALSO STANDING AT ATTENTION, OFFERING A SALUTE. AN AMERICAN FLAG. WAS THAT OFFICER HANDING OUT PATCHES? CHIEF AXTELL. HE STOPPED. HE WENT TO THE CROWD AND HE'S HANDING OUT THINGS. I LOOK, COULD IT BE PATCHES? IT COULD BE PATCHES. IT COULD BE, UM, STICKERS FOR SOME OF THE YOUNG PEOPLE IN THE CROWD WOULD WOULDN'T BE UNCOMMON TO SEE THAT. YEAH YEAH, THAT'S NICE TO SEE. THAT'S WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT, REALLY. UM, COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT , YOU KNOW, BUILDING BUILDING THOSE RELATIONSHIPS. UH, EVEN ON A DAY LIKE TODAY, WHEN IT'S THE MOST SOMBER OF DAYS YOU CAN IMAGINE, IT. IT'S REALLY GOOD FOR ME TO SEE THIS. OUR OFFICERS ARE STILL ENGAGING OUR COMMUNITY, AND THERE WE HAVE IT. THIS IS BURNSVILLE AGAIN. FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO MAY JUST BE JOINING US, THIS IS THE SORT OF THE END POINT OF A PROCESSIONAL THAT WILL WILL EVENTUALLY MAKE ITS WAY PAST. NOW, NOW, THE FIRE STATION AND THEN THE POLICE STATION IN BURNSVILLE . RIGHT. YOU SEE, FROM THIS AERIAL SHOT HERE, THE PROCESSION IS COMING INTO BURNSVILLE. IT HAS PASSED THE FIRE STATION NUMBER TWO, AND IT WILL BE GOING PAST THE POLICE DEPARTMENT AS WELL VERY SOON. WE WANT TO BRING IN KAREN SCULLIN, UH, WHO IS ON THE PROCESSION ROUTE IN JUST A MOMENT. SHE'S BEEN THERE ALL MORNING AS PEOPLE HAVE WAITED FOR HOURS TO WITNESS THIS FOR THEMSELVES. SO WE'LL BE TALKING TO HER IN A MOMENT. BUT WE HAD CORIN HOGGARD ON THE ROUTE NEAR THE EDEN PRAIRIE BLOOMINGTON LINE JUST A LITTLE WHILE AGO, AND, UH, JUST THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE SHOWN UP ON A 19 DEGREE DAY TO COME OUT AND SHOW THEIR SUPPORT WAVE AMERICAN FLAGS, PUT THEIR HAND OVER THEIR HEARTS AND WAVE. AND YOU SEE, IN SOME OF THOSE SHOTS, THE OFFICERS WAVING BACK AND REALLY ACKNOWLEDGING THE PUBLIC TO LET THEM KNOW WE SEE YOU. THIS SHOT HERE IS AN EDEN PRAIRIE, UM, ESSENTIALLY THE BEGINNING OF THE OF THE PROCESSION. AND WHY THAT'S IMPORTANT IS BECAUSE, UH, VEHICLES ARE STILL LEAVING EDEN PRAIRIE FROM A, UH, FROM A PROCESSION THAT BEGAN IN, UH, A SOLID 45 TO AN HOUR AGO, UM, WHICH TELLS YOU THE NUMBER OF FIRST RESPONDERS THAT ARE INVOLVED IN THIS PROCESSION AS IT MAKES ITS WAY INTO INTO BURNSVILLE. UM, CHIEF AXTELL, WE TALKED ABOUT THIS BRIEFLY BEFORE MORE, BUT THE IMPACT OF THIS SORT OF, UM, DEMONSTRATE OF SOLIDARITY AND FELLOWSHIP, UH, BY POLICE AND FIRST RESPONDERS FROM ALL OVER THE COUNTRY, WE CAN SAY NOW, UM, MEANS A LOT TO THE COMMUNITIES THAT THEY PASS THROUGH. IT SURE DOES. IT MEANS A LOT TO SO MANY PEOPLE TODAY AS YOU AS WE CAN SEE WITH WITH THE COVERAGE HERE, HOW QUIET IT CAN BE ALONG THIS PROCESSION WITH THE HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE LINING THIS PROCESSION, YOU CAN HEAR THE VEHICLES IN THE BACKGROUND OF THE OFFICERS AND FIREFIGHTERS, PARAMEDICS DRIVING THROUGH THAT SILENCE REALLY CAN BE DEAFENING. AND, UM, IT'S, UH, IT'S JUST A NIFICANT GESTURE BY OUR COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO BE OUT THERE. I KNOW FIRSTHAND THAT OUR OFFICERS ARE FEELING THE LOVE TODAY, THE SUPPORT AND THAT WILL GO DIRECTLY TO THE HEALING PROCESS FOR OUR FIRST RESPONDERS OUT THERE THROUGHOUT THE STATE OF MINNESOTA. AND IT WILL IMPACT THE HEALING PROCESS FOR THE FAMILY MEMBERS IN ALL OF OUR COMMUNITIES THROUGHOUT THE STATE WHO HAVE BEEN REALLY DEVASTATED BY THIS TRAGEDY. WE TALKED ABOUT LAW ENFORCEMENT, POLICE. WE'VE TALKED ABOUT THE FIREFIGHTERS AND EMS, BUT YOU MENTIONED THERE ARE SO MANY OTHER MEMBERS OF LAW ENFORCEMENT OF OUR LAW ENFORCEMENT COMMUNITY THAT ARE SO IMPACTED EMOTIONALLY BY SOMETHING LIKE THIS. YEAH, THE LAW ENFORCEMENT AND POLICE SERVICE FAMILY IS A IS A HUGE EXTENDED FAMILY. AND, UM, YOU KNOW, IT'S JUST IT'S JUST IT'S ONE BIG FAMILY. WE TALK ABOUT THE CALL TAKERS AND THE 911 OPERATORS WHO, WHO WHEN THEY'RE DISPATCHING THOSE CALLS, THEY'RE BECOME PART OF THE CALL. AND THEY ARE EQUALLY EMOTIONALLY, UM, ENGAGED IN SOME OF THOSE THINGS. THE CRIME LABS, THE PROPERTY ROOMS, THE, THE IMPOUND LOTS. IT'S ONE BIG FAMILY. AND YOU SEE THE UNIFORMS, BUT THERE'S A LOT THAT GOES ON BEHIND THE SCENES THAT WE DON'T SEE. KAREN SCULLIN IS IN BURNSVILLE. WE POSITIONED HER ALONG THE ROUTE AS WELL. KAREN JOINING US NOW. NOW, UH, IT HAS GOTTEN TO YOUR LOCATION. KAREN, I PRESUME THAT YOU LIKE THE OTHERS ALONG THERE, ARE STRUCK BY THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE AND CITIZENS WHO TURN OUT TO OFFER THEIR CONDOLENCES AND SUPPORT FOR WHAT HAS HAPPENED. ABSOLUTELY. AND AS YOU'VE BEEN MENTIONING, ESPECIALLY BECAUSE OF THE COLD. BUT PEOPLE JUST NOW COMING OUT OF THEIR CARS TO LINE THE STREETS WITH THEIR AMERICAN FLAGS, WITH THEIR BLUE LINE FLAGS, TO SHOW SUPPORT, TO PAY RESPECTS AS THE PROCESSION PASSES BY THE BURNSVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT, SEVERAL PEOPLE OUT HERE, I'D SAY DOZENS OF PEOPLE OUT HERE TELLING ME THAT THEY'RE HERE JUST TO LET THEM KNOW THAT THEY CARE, AND NOT JUST TODAY, BUT THEY CARE EVERY DAY ABOUT THEIR OFFICERS, ABOUT THEIR FIREFIGHTERS, ABOUT EVERYONE WHO IS IN PUBLIC SERVICE. I NOTICED PUBLIC WORKS EVEN HAS THEIR FLAGS UP SHOWING THEIR RESPECTS FOR THE FALLEN OFFICERS AND THE DEPARTMENT AS WELL. JUST A LOT OF PEOPLE, UM, HERE, VERY EMOTIONAL AT TIMES. THE YOU KNOW, I WAS AT THE CHURCH EARLIER. THEY WERE EMOTIONAL. THEY'RE ALSO WANTING TO KNOW, WANTING EVERYONE TO KNOW THAT THEY TOO ARE IN SUPPORT OF THEIR POLICE OFFICERS AND THE FIRE DEPARTMENT RIGHT NOW ALONG THE PROCESSION HERE, OBVIOUSLY, A LOT OF LAW ENFORCEMENT VEHICLES, A LOT OF BURNSVILLE POLICE PASSING BY RIGHT NOW, BURNSVILLE FIRE DEPARTMENT ALSO PASSING BY AND UNDERSTANDABLY JUST AN INCREDIBLY, INCREDIBLY DIFFICULT DAY FOR THEM. IT'S BEEN A DIFFICULT DAY, A WEEK AND A HALF FOR THEM. OF COURSE, AND THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL BUSSES IN THIS PROCESSION THAT I'VE NOTICED. AND I REACHED OUT TO FIND OUT, YOU KNOW, WHO WHO EXACTLY IS ON THE BUSSES. I WAS TOLD A NUMBER OF PEOPLE, BUT FAMILY. FAMILY OF THE FALLEN OFFICERS OF THE FALLEN FIREFIGHTER, PARAMEDIC ARE ABOARD, ARE ON BOARD THOSE BUSSES ALONG WITH SOME BURNSVILLE POLICE OFFICERS AS WELL. SO IT LOOKS LIKE WE HAVE COMING HERE ALONG WITH THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND POLICE OFFICERS. WE ALSO HAVE SOME SORT OF A COMMAND CENTER VEHICLE AS WELL, KIND OF IN THIS PROCESSION, OBVIOUSLY, LIGHTS FLASHING AS PEOPLE ARE VERY QUIET AS THEY SHOW THEIR SUPPORT AND THEY PAY THEIR RESPECTS. I'LL STEP OUT OF THE WAY OR STOP TALKING FOR A BIT SO WE CAN TAKE IT ALL IN. HERE ARE THOSE BUSSES THAT I WAS MENTIONING EARLIER. I'M NOT SURE IF YOU ALL CAN HEAR ME, BUT HERE ARE THOSE BUSSES A NUMBER OF BUSSES. IT LOOKS LIKE, UH ABOUT 6 OR 7 BUSSES COMING THROUGH HERE WITH FAMILY, WITH FRIENDS, WITH BURNSVILLE POLICE OFFICERS AND OTHERS. I'M TOLD THAT ONE REPRESENTING THE BURNSVILLE FIRE STATION. THIS IS CITY STAFF GOING BY. THEY ARE LABELED. SO I'M SEEING THAT NOW. BURNSVILLE CITY STAFF IS IN THAT BUS. THIS IS A BUS FROM CHASKA. CAN'T QUITE TELL WHO'S ON BOARD. AND THIS IS THE FAMILY BUS THAT IS PASSING US THIS BLACK AND GRAY BUS RIGHT NOW THAT IS PASSING US WAS LABELED AS FAMILY. THIS IS THE RUYIGI FAMILY PASSING US. THE FINSETH FAMILY ON THIS NEXT BUS HERE. THE RUYIGI FAMILY AGAIN ON THIS YELLOW BUS THAT IS NOW PASSING. AND ANOTHER BUS OF THE RUYIGI FAMILY AS WELL. OBVIOUSLY A LOT OF PEOPLE IN THESE BUSSES TO PAY THEIR RESPECTS. THIS ALSO THE ROOKIE FAMILY TO PAY THEIR RESPECTS FOR THE FALLEN FIRST RESPONDERS. JUST AN INCREDIBLE, INCREDIBLE SIGHT HERE. IT REALLY DOES TUG AT YOUR HEARTSTRINGS HERE. VERY EMOTIONAL KIND OF. IT'S LIKE A COMBINATION OF A GUT PUNCH AND A HEARTBREAKER AT THE SAME TIME. REALLY IT'S, UM. IT'S HARD. IT'S TOUGH OUT HERE, BUT A LOT OF PEOPLE HERE SHOWING THEIR RESPECTS VERY QUIET. I DID HEAR SOME TEARS FALLING, UH, FROM A LADY NEXT TO ME JUST A WHILE AGO. SO SHE. SHE ACTUALLY CAME AND SAID SHE BROUGHT A POSITIVE MESSAGE AND SHE WAS HANDING OUT THESE BRACELETS. IT'S ON HER SIGN, TOO, THAT SAYS YOU ARE IMPORTANT. SHE SAID SHE JUST WANTED TO BRING SOMETHING POSITIVE TO THIS DAY. SO SHE IS HANDING OUT MESSAGES THAT SAY YOU ARE IMPORTANT. THAT WAS A SAVAGE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND, UH, FIRE DEPARTMENT AND POLICE DEPARTMENT AS WELL. ABOUT THAT BUS. YEAH. KAREN I WAS GOING TO ASK YOU. YOU MENTIONED THAT A LOT OF THESE BUSSES WERE CARRYING FAMILY MEMBERS, AND, UM, I'M NOT SURE IF YOU CAN TELL, BUT THE BUSSES THAT ARE STILL TO COME ARE THEY CARRYING FAMILY, FRIENDS, OTHER LAW ENFORCEMENT? UM, WELL, RIGHT NOW , WE JUST HAD A BUS FROM ROCHESTER. ROCHESTER POLICE BUS. UM AIRPORT POLICE GOING BY AT THIS TIME. KAREN YOU MENTIONED STATE PATROL THAT WAS LEADING THE PROCESSION WAS ALL THE BURNSVILLE POLICE AND FIRE VEHICLES AND NOW OTHER DEPARTMENTS ARE FILING IN BEHIND THE BUSSES, AIRPORT POLICE, UH, PASSING THROUGH AT THIS TIME, KAREN, YOU MENTIONED THE MESSAGING THAT YOU WITNESSED OUT THERE. UH, GIVE US SOME MORE INSIGHT INTO THAT. WHAT HAVE YOU HEARD FROM PEOPLE AS YOU AS YOU WATCH THIS AND WITNESS THIS ALONG WITH THEM? I'M SORRY. RANDY I COULDN'T HEAR THAT. CAN YOU REPEAT THAT, PLEASE? SURE UM, GIVE US A SENSE FOR SOME OF THE MESSAGING THAT YOU'RE SEEING OUT THERE. YOU TOUCHED ON THAT EARLIER. YOU'RE RIGHT THERE WITH MANY OF THE FOLKS DOWN THERE ALONG THE PROCESSION ROUTE. GIVE US A SENSE FOR WHAT THEY ARE RELAYING IN THEIR MESSAGING TO LAW ENFORCEMENT OR OTHER FIRST RESPONDERS. I THINK THE MESSAGE REALLY IS THAT, YOU KNOW, IT'S NOT JUST THE PEOPLE WHO LIVE IN BURNSVILLE AND THE PEOPLE WHO SERVE BURNSVILLE, BUT THEY THINK OF THIS MORE AS A BIG FAMILY HERE, AND THEY ARE FEELING THE PAIN THAT THESE OFFICERS ARE FEELING. DAKOTA COUNTY SHERIFF PASSING BY RIGHT NOW, THEY ARE FEELING THE PAIN THAT THESE OFFICERS ARE FEELING. THEY UNDERSTAND THAT IT'S HEARTBREAKING AND IT'S GOING TO BE HARD FOR THEM IN THE COMING DAYS. AND I THINK WHAT I KEEP HEARING IS WE HAVE TO REMEMBER THEM, NOT JUST TODAY, NOT JUST BECAUSE SOMETHING AWFUL HAPPENED, BUT, YOU KNOW, AS THE DAYS AND WEEKS GO ON, WE WANT TO SHOW OUR SUPPORT. WE WANT TO LET THEM KNOW THAT WE DO SUPPORT THEM, AND WE ARE HERE FOR THEM. AND AGAIN, WE HAVE EAGAN POLICE PASSING THROUGH AS WELL, VERY LONG PROCESSION, DOZENS AND DOZENS AND DOZENS OF VEHICLES HERE IN THIS ONE. KAREN, YOU MENTIONED JUST HOW THE EMOTION JUST HITS YOU. AND IN THIS MOMENT IT'S LIKE THIS. IT'S UPLIFTING AND HEARTBREAKING. ALL IN THE SAME BREATH. IT IS. ABSOLUTELY. I MEAN, IT'S UPLIFTING TO SEE THE COMMUNITY SUPPORT AND THAT PEOPLE TRULY DO CARE. UM, RED LAKE POLICE GOING BY. WE'VE GOT DEPARTMENTS FROM ALL OVER. BUT YES, IT IS. I THINK THEY ARE FEEL A SENSE OF COMMUNITY FOR SURE OUT HERE WITH ONE ANOTHER. BUT, YOU KNOW, IT'S NOT JUST BURNSVILLE PEOPLE, BURNSVILLE CITIZENS THAT ARE LINING THE STREETS. THEY'RE REALLY COMING FROM ALL OVER FROM LAKEVILLE, UH, FROM SAINT PAUL, FROM OUTLYING AREAS TO SHOW THEIR SUPPORT AND LET THEM KNOW THAT ON THIS DAY AND EVERY DAY, THEY CARE ABOUT THEM AND THEY UNDERSTAND THE WORK THEY DO, AND THAT THEY PUT THEIR LIVES ON THE LINE EVERY SINGLE DAY THAT THEY DO THEIR JOB UNIRONICALLY. ONE OF THE COLDER DAYS THAT WE'VE HAD ALL WINTER LONG. SO WE GIVE THEM A LOT OF, UH, CREDIT FOR BEING OUT THERE FOR ALL THE RIGHT REASONS. THANK YOU. KAREN YES, OF COURSE. YOU SEE SO MANY PEOPLE ALONG THIS ROUTE FROM EDEN PRAIRIE THROUGH BLOOMINGTON, SAVAGE AND NOW THE PROCESSION HAS REACHED BURNSVILLE, AND IT IS JUST INCREDIBLE, AS YOU SAID, RANDY, A 19 DEGREE DAY YESTERDAY, AT LEAST IN THE MORNING HOURS, IT WAS STILL WARM. TOMORROW WILL BE WARM. UNFORTUNATELY WE HAD THIS ONE DAY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WEEK WHERE WE JUST HAVE FRIGID TEMPERATURES, BUT WE'VE SEEN PEOPLE WRAPPED IN BLANKETS AND THESE FOR THE MOST PART, ARE STRANGERS TO THESE OFFICERS. AND THAT IS WHAT IS SO INCREDIBLY POWERFUL ABOUT THESE MOMENTS. WHILE WE'RE WE STILL HAVE YOU WITH US, CHIEF AXTELL, I'M INTERESTED TO KNOW HOW YOU'RE FEELING TODAY. OBVIOUSLY, YOU SPENT MANY, MANY YEARS IN LAW ENFORCEMENT, BUT YOU'RE SEEING THIS THROUGH A DIFFERENT LENS THAN WE ARE. UM, GIVE US YOUR SENSE FOR HOW YOU'RE DOING ON A DAY LIKE TODAY. WELL, I'M. I'M DOING WELL. I MEAN, I JUST I FEEL TERRIBLE FOR THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY IN BURNSVILLE WHO IS, YOU KNOW, THEY HAVE SUFFERED THIS DEVASTATING LOSS. I FEEL TERRIBLE FOR THE WOMEN AND MEN AND POLICING AND FIRE PARAMEDIC SERVICE TODAY. THIS IS, UM, BEEN A VERY HEAVY DAY ON THEM. IT'S BEEN A HEAVY DAY FOR OUR STATE, OUR COMMUNITY MEMBERS. UM WE'RE ALL GRIEVING IN OUR OWN UNIQUE WAY. UM, BUT BUT TONIGHT I'LL. I'LL LAY MY HEAD ON THE PILLOW KNOWING THAT THESE THREE HEROES WHO WENT OUT THE WAY THEY SHOULD GO OUT. UM. AND MAY WE CAN SEE THEM AS WE. THIS IS REALLY, REALLY, REALLY INTERESTING TO SEE. AND IT KIND OF ENCAPSULATES EVERYTHING THAT WENT ON TODAY RIGHT THERE AS AS THE CITIZENS OF, OF BURNSVILLE SAY THEIR FINAL RESPECTS AND WAVE GOODBYE TO THESE, UH, THESE HEROES, THESE TRUE HEROES THAT DIED, UM, SO EARLY IN THAT SUNDAY MORNING. ON FEBRUARY 18TH. AND THEY WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN. THEIR WORK IN, IN THAT PARTICULAR CALL THAT MORNING, IT WAS SAID TODAY THEY NEGOTIATED FOR HOURS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT IN THE EARLY MORNING HOURS. AND THOSE HOURS THAT THEY WERE ABLE TO SIT AND TRY TO DEFUZE THE SITUATION ALLOWED FOR MORE PERSONNEL TO COME ON SCENE, AND THAT GAVE THEM TIME AND IT ALLOWED MORE PERSONNEL TO GATHER. IT IS SO HARD TO HEAR SOME OF THOSE DETAILS, UH, ABOUT OFFICER RUDY CARRYING OFFICER ELM STRAND OUTSIDE. UM, THE SERGEANT MEDLICOTT WHO SURVIVED THIS, WHO WAS SHOT SAYING THAT HE WILL REMEMBER ADAM FINSETH RUNNING TOWARD THEM AS THE PARAMEDIC WHO PUT HIMSELF IN THE LINE OF FIRE TO TRY TO SAVE THEIR LIVES. IT IS JUST INCREDIBLE. AND WE SEE THESE CHILDREN ON THIS PROCESSION ROUTE WITH THESE SIGNS THAT SAY THANK YOU. AND THOSE THOSE TWO WORDS MEAN SO MUCH. THEY REALLY DO. AND IT SENDS US A REAL STRONG MESSAGE TO OUR FIRST RESPONDERS THAT IT THEY MATTER. WHAT THEY DO MATTERS. UM, THIS IS A CALLING THAT, UM, IF TRAGICALLY, THEY EVER LOSE THEIR LIVES. IT'S A GOOD REMINDER FOR ALL THE FIRST RESPONDERS, FIRST RESPONDERS TO UNDERSTAND AND SEE AND EXPERIENCE THAT THEIR LIVES WILL NEVER BE IN VAIN
