hi honey hi how was your day what's good what are you doing here i'm just getting the burgers prepped for you oh yeah yeah those are good looking burgers where'd you find them walmart today walmart angus burgers on sale i assume yeah they were on clearance so angus burgers it is clarence burgers tonight on grilling with gully [Music] so this evening we're doing burgers on the big green egg xl got the tim and aya going with kings for charcoal in there gonna get that nice and hot and going to apply that over to the big green egg and had a great day today great day at work great night of worship last night at flc and then you know today's my grandmother's 91st birthday so we're celebrating that today a little bit of a celebration of our own my grandmother's four hours away so wasn't able to make it up there but she's having a big party today she cooked 32 enchiladas today for the party so happy birthday to her let's move on over to the egg got the egg all set up ready to go using mainly charcoal tonight got some leftover pieces of uh oak lump charcoal that i just kind of threw in there just to give it a little color or a hint of oak if you will but we're going to apply the coals from the chimney right in the middle there so it'll spread throughout don't need much fuel tonight this is plenty if not more than enough to do burgers and then after we do our burgers and hot dogs maybe i'll throw on some nestle toll house things on there afterwards just to take advantage of the fire and the heat that we're going to have left over in this thing so it's gonna be great [Music] help spread i'm going to leave the convector out tonight we're going to grill right on top of the fire since we're doing burgers give it a good char taste it's been a while since we grilled some burgers out back haven't it john it's been a while yeah i think that's one of our first episodes on grilling with gilly we did hamburgers so [Music] we're gonna let that sit we're gonna let the most of the coals turn white we're gonna get started with some burgers on the grill tonight [Music] well coals are coming right along looks like we got ourselves some nice hot coals there about ready to put the meat on first we got to give the grill a little scrub with the onion this is what drives the neighbors crazy smelling of this onion on the grill swipe the grill down real good [Music] and we'll be ready to go all right john we're ready to put these burgers on take a look at them patties [Music] salt pepper war sister shire that's all we need now normally on my other pit i usually spray some olive oil or some grill grease or something just kind of give it a little slick so the meat doesn't stick but they frown on doing that inside the egg because if you spray a chemical inside this egg it's made of ceramic material it will permeate that material and it'll be there forever you'll never get it out of there so no chemicals in the big green egg excel we're just going to throw these right on there and we have a hot fire these are not going to be on there long at all [Music] still i don't want to leave my hand in there very long either hamburgers tonight on the big green egg excel gonna be awesome it's been two minutes our fires at 400 degrees taking a peek down inside there no flare-ups thus far so we're rocking along everything's doing great [Music] wow [Music] you always want to be careful that grease on the top is going to go down inside the fit there i call the flare up so just use caution if you're doing one that [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] that makes sense all right let's close it up i don't want her to get too much here you see down at the bottom i've got my intake open about maybe two inches doesn't need to be open any more than that the tops just cracked open in fact i got a little issue here some of you may have come across this with your eggs it's kind of stuck right there and i don't want to force it to do anything i've got it all hot right now later on when it's cool i might take that off and it might need some wd-40 under inside so went ahead put on the ballpark franks on here just got those on burgers this one looks good when you mash good way to check these burgers when you mash them you see that juice barely using out there right about done that's kind of where we want some of these on the edge maybe it's a little cooler on the end there there's more grease coming out of them but [Music] you like your burger juicy with a little grease coming out on your bib while you're eating it or if you like them well done that's totally up to you you see these on the hot side of the fire are protein pretty well there so we're going to get them off we're going to put the rest of these and uh probably ought to go get the cheese i like these [Music] this is crap american sliced cheese american cheese is available at almost every grocery store [Music] nothing fancy [Music] oh [Music] [Music] all right some of these are coming off [Music] they are ready to go [Music] see those hot dogs they're getting a little good nice char on the end they're gonna come off real really quick some good burgers tonight burgers on the big green here somewhere i don't have to put the mitts back on because that fire is smoking so i'm probably going to take the grill off in a minute put the convector [Music] all right let's go 330 degrees we've got the convector put in there and we got ourselves some nestle tall house cookies they say put them things two inches apart but uh it's probably gonna end up making one big old cookie but whatever it's gonna be good so say leave it on there about nine to ten minutes in a 350 degree oven we're not quite 350 but we might get there open the intake up a little bit try to get some more oxygen to the fire so if we leave them on there a little longer 10 minutes whatever i mean they'll just absorb that charcoal goodness all right let's take one last look yeah i'm gonna take them off i think they're
