it's got all the features of home but it's on tiny tiny little wheels well they're not as tiny as zacks are hey zach did you get bigger wheels this time hope you did may the best man win best glamper win camper to camper clamper to glamper i want you guys to decide the final verdict on who has built the best camper well guys welcome back to the second edition of the glamper build off took it overnight we discovered what needed to be done and now we're gonna do it that's the plan now i had time to look at uh zach's build and i you know it looks it looks really good like from you know the start anyways it's a good start we've got some we've got some big plans as you guys know we did fix the trailer up we did we weld the tongue and we've got leveling jacks so now we've got three leveling jacks we're going to install those and uh we're thinking of an outdoor shower right here that'll be something we got a cistern a little bit of a water tank in order to do that and we're gonna we're gonna have a little better outdoor kitchen because we have a sink one of the major concerns was that there was no screens some big plans for the kitchen area with the an awning we're going to build like you dropped to 10 degrees last night um your air conditioner would have done nothing but you know made this thing into an ice box so that's kind of why we have a wood stove because we're building to our climate got a list a list as long as my arm to do so let's get started we ended up picking up a couple of trailer jacks these guys 5 000 pound mechanical implement trailer jack that's going to allow us to level it on any terrain we've got three we've got one on the one on the tongue and then two on the back and then what i did is i up in the uh the welding shop we ended up welding a bracket to hold the receiver on and then the pin goes inside that it allows us to remove these so the plan with this guy is to when you're traveling is to actually throw them inside the camper so because they don't they don't they won't flip up because the wheels and the lights are in the way and i think if you have an upside down you're gonna gunk crawling in there and you know what throw them inside when you're traveling double feature you can change your own tire on your camper if you were to blow a tire it's got its own jack built right in next up we're building screens don's got this little frame made out of wood and now we're going to stick this screen on so it's got like a velcro look kind of loopy thingy and then it's going to go onto that and it's going to stick on and it's going to be magical i guess i don't know turns out it's harder to get screens made nowadays than it ever was before teams nobody wants to make screens so we're making our own throw us your screen done finished product you can't even tell at the screen pick up that's how well at work screen test fit oh that's beautiful john that fits perfect we still get our cranky mechanism through the hole good good job don to address the the comments of what was the one comment was this isn't very big well there's two people in here and we're comfortable here we just gotta sleep standing up so the plan originally was if you were gonna go two-person camping what you would do is just actually remove the bed all together and put a bed from wall to wall it fits a double bed in here um obviously maybe not don and i in this little tiny camper but maybe my wife i like when don has a fiddly fiddly jobs okay yeah that's a problem that's is that better is that better fit yes that's right you got that's one of two so you gotta do two we'll show the next one going in just it's gonna go in just as well as that one did i promise next on the list is a place to wash up the solution of that is a how many gallons 15 gallon a 15 gallon water tank gonna be mounted to the tongue of this guy so you can fill it up when you get close to your location because you probably don't want to travel with 15 gallons on the tongue i'm just saying it'd probably handle it no problem but you can put it in the back your truck or the back of your car and then you just kind of install it on the tongue where you're leaving this thing in its location for your you know day overnight or your week or whatever so the plan is to modify this thing in order to hold the water in order to feed my shower we're doing we're dealing with the three s's i'll let you figure out the first house shower and shave what i found is if you drill a hole slightly smaller than the brass fitting that it's going in and then you use some jb weld inside there and you butter it i've got this pex pipe crimped on beforehand because i can't get the crimper inside there so if you do that beforehand and let it dry this thing will go back on the barrel and you'll have a watertight seal around there and it's actually very strong i've done this on a thousand liter totes and it's holding up just marvelously so that's my solution to modifying the bung hole i'm sure they probably sell bung hole taps how many times can i say bung hole normally i have you know all sorts of goodies hanging around i i believe i did collect a whole bunch of shower assemblies at one point and then i thought to myself would i ever install this back into a house and my answer was no and i scrapped them all so at this point i would love a little shower assembly you know pressure balance thermal static mixing valve sort of thing here but in reality do i need all that no i need an on and off for hot so i'm going to make a rudimentary mixing valve sort of shower assembly out of some pipes i picked up solder it all together and then hook it up there because in reality nobody's gonna be flushing the toilet on this thing and scalding anybody you're gonna have to sort of be your own safety valve here there was a suggestion of making or using a hula hoop in order to make a shower stall so what i ended up using was horse blanket shelves that i had laying around that's what this part is and then there's copper pipe which is just half inch copper pipe that went inside and that gave me a nice square nice square square it's not a hula hoop it's a square and then it allowed me to go my shower curtain so what i'm going to do is actually attach it and when i'm not using it i can fold it down for transport just like that [Music] just working on the the plate that's going to hold the pump in place that's going to pump for our shower but uh i just checked the radar map and there is a doozy of a storm coming in it's probably about uh 10 minutes out i'm just gonna kind of squirrel all my stuff that can't get wet because look at the sky the wind's picking up cold the cold front's moving in we're gonna get some rain i think i'm gonna weather it out in the camper why not that's why you don't have a tent right you just kind of in a camper check the trees check make sure there's no trees that are gonna maybe land on me because that would suck no trees no trees landed on cabin is that for real world testing it is raining we're inside we've got the windows open we've got the raindrops hitting on the roof we've got you know the windows are shed in water i don't see any water coming in proofs in the pudding even the ridge the ridge doesn't seem any water coming i didn't think it was leaking like i said when we first put it together i made sure when it was when it was after the rain there was no rain inside so i'm just inside while it's raining right now and that doesn't seem to be any rain so but this is why you have a camper right so you can go in out of the rain you can sit up you can sit by your table and you don't have to lay in bed i hemmed and hot about curtains and then i thought why not make it out of an old floor mat it doubles as complete blackout curtains and it gives you some sort of thermal protection in the winter time when you want to keep the heat out of it i guess it's the summer time when you want to keep the heat out in the winter time we want to keep the heat in so that's it goes there a couple of screws complete blackout blinds and then when i want to open them i just roll them up because it's a floor mat it's pretty solid and then so you screwed that to the back and then you got your screw at the top she holds on like that carbon monoxide detector installed i have an old 12 volt rv pump that i'm gonna mount right to here and then hook it up to the battery and that's gonna pump the water out of the holding tank and up into my shower now just to get it mounted the idea behind this water tote is that once you're on location you find your source of water and you fill it up for your overnight or for your week of camping the idea is not to travel with 15 gallons of water sitting on your tongue because i don't think that's a great idea it'll be a lot of weight on the tongue so that's my ultimate plan so now let's fill it up uh we've got some water down by the pond so maybe we'll grab that in the barrel and then just kind of siphon it out i am going to make some sort of a kind of like uh you know they see how they fill those race cars up they got the big jug with the hose on it and they hold it up above and it just kind of siphons in in order to make our awning we ended up picking up a really heavy duty tarp from princess auto and then using a piece of two inch abs pipe and screwing it along the length and then using another piece of conduit laying around in order to screw it along the other side of it and then we're going to use a horse blanket bracket in order to attach it to the ceiling or the roof of the camper itself and then it extends out and we put some tent pulls and we have our awning so we can cook and we don't get rained on or you know if you're a redhead like i am keeps you away from the sun too multi-purpose all right so round two we ended up taking the two inch pipe and we put just the conduit on both sides and hopefully that'll um roll out better we've also changed the angle on the hooks so it doesn't uh doesn't fly off round two let's try this so we've got our the awning set right it appears as it's not gonna pull out of the bracket it might be just something you just unroll and you hook onto the thing and you're done people are overthinking this thing a little bit i think that works see in an ideal world i think you get yourself a campsite where there's trees and then you tie a rope to each grommet and you attach it to a tree and you don't have to worry about camping in a desolate desert and you don't have any trees to attach to this should probably work probably a little bit more engineering but anyway you can see how this in theory could work on a perfectly still day with no wind all right we got our moment of truth we've got our 12 volt adapter wired in i had to look it up but the it turns out the the clips on the sides are negative and the center one is positive so when you're hooking it up to your uh 12-volt pump you make sure that you got your negative on your negative side and you're positive on your bottom side so i'm going to plug this into the jackery and see if we pressurize our water system now this is the first time i've plugged this in so i'm not sure what's going to happen so i'm going to plug it in and we might get water works we might get nothing at all it might just go wiz and bang let's try it oh it's got it's got our feet up it's got to feed the hot water or the hot water the cold water up into the pipes on the roof so on that pump there's a pressure switch that once the system is pressurized it turns off so you don't have to keep flicking a switch on and off to get yourself water so we've got our our cold water it's a shower in the forest [Music] and then it'll pressurize your system [Music] and then shut off shut off just like that so i think we got some we got some probably the hot side probably got some air on that side we just got to go all the way around and put water on the root pipe because that's going to heat up in the sunshine and give us our hot water gotta work the air out we want to conserve our water here let's go check the top on the kitchen sink oh yeah look at that so you're thinking well how are you gonna go down the road with this thing well you take the tap you pull it out you put it in the sink and everything folds up we gotta move that light fold down you're on location you put your sink you put your tap back in you're back on in order to install that doorknob i ended up using my hole saws and cut a nice hole in the door and then i ended up using another little hole saw in order to cut the hole for the latching mechanism but because it's not quite a flat surface because it is an old garage door i ended up making sort of a jig and then drilling through the jig in order to attach the is that the keeper the latchy thing and then got my other catch and the door knobs installed easy as that anytime you're dealing with uh you know reused or repurposed material as you always got to kind of sort of think outside the box in order to get it to work but it seems to work really really well so that ended well next step of the process of making ourselves a glamper is we gotta find a place to poop so we're gonna make it out of an old bucket a toilet seat i have laying around and a piece of wood so the plan is to mount the toilet seat to the top of the bucket using this piece of wood and then when you're ready to go or preferably before you're ready to go is you take your bag you put it inside your bucket and that gives you something to kind of tie up and throw away you can probably use it for a week just add some sawdust or some pine needles and stuff to kind of bury it as you go should keep the stink down solution for outdoor toilets the problem is you can't mount the seat to the bucket so we're going to use a piece of wood instead to mount the piece of wood to the bucket and then the seat to the piece of wood uh well that's comfy and we're still working on the details i'm just uh replacing the old tail lights and we've got to get it wired up so it's road worthy so this here is the right hand one and the uh got one other one to do on the other side of course for the for the left-hand side it's uh it's got the one for the license plate lamp this goes into the bracket so that's the one we'll do next that one's ready to wire up oh feel the breeze you feel the breeze no high this is a little fan it's usb port it's a usb port it's not a usb port fan it's a usb fan and it plugs into the jackery's one of three power ports turn it on as you need it turn it off when you don't it's going to be mounted right here so you can pivot it up and down so here we've installed a towel rack its former life was a horse blanket holder in a horse stall but this can also be used after you know you're done sleeping is you take your sleeping bag out and you hang it up here and it's nice dry it's in the sunshine it gets all rid of all the moisture so this is double duty it's also got a hook so when you're at the kitchen you can have your hand towel right here so you're washing your dishes get your hand tile sitting right there i think it's a perfect setup do some chin ups well maybe not that far but cut the old chain off and replace with a new chain because safety always comes first all right guys cool tool time this little guy was sent to me by kebteck and it's a cordless powered pruner and i thought what an ideal little tool for this kind of situation where i need tiny little firewood so i kind of found it a drag when i did take it out when i was trying to make firewood especially little tiny stuff for my little tiny stove so this little guy here look at that thing it's lightweight turn it on opens up when you want to make your tiny little firewood [Applause] huh just like that look if you want to cut firewood from across the road this guy's like a three foot extension you can cut her down the street [Music] i think it's just fun to use this thing is awesome as you can see it's gonna make a whole bunch of firewood really really really fast and no effort at all it's kebtec there's gonna be a link in the description below if you want to check yourself up one of these things that's pretty cool that's a cool tool the problem we had with these windows is they didn't come with the crank out a little the cranky thing so we ended up manufacturing one out of a wing nut and a little bolt and some thread locker so we thread it inside the cam and allows us to open the window by turning it right ways cranks it out and then loosen it up closes the window tight and it's nice and small so when we have our blinds closed it tucks in behind there nicely so now that we've got our shower curtain we've kind of got our private little area here we got our shower our hot and our cold and i haven't really touched on this but this is our this is our water heater so as you're traveling to your destination you're gonna be on the road and you're not gonna be in the shade so this thing will actually heat up so you got i don't know a couple of gallons of hot water really really hot water in that pipe and when you want to turn your hot water on it comes out of this pipe and gives you a nice warm water can't you see them on the toilet shower turn it on [Music] talk a little bit about safety and locking this thing up so while we're traveling we have this lock we can lock it closed or when you leave it unattended you put your padlock on here you open it up you put your padlock back on there so people can't lock you in you got your door knob it allows us to open and close when you're regularly using this thing and then when you're in and you're shutting her down for the night you've got a chain lock that locks it from the inside you wanna demonstrate that and then you can be like no go away and i think ideally this is gives you enough time you know to run and grab your gun or something axe and for those of you are wondering that chain is screwed into the structure of the actual cabin so if you're gonna grab it and rip you're gonna well you're gonna rip half the building part locks only keep honest people out really so we're glamping so we're gonna put our flat screen tv in why not right there perfect [Applause] hey zach did you include a kitchen sink in yours mine's got a kitchen sink oh running water now this this is the height of clamping running water we got hot hot that is hot cold or both lukewarm water and what's cool about it is that you collect it in a bucket and then when you can take the bucket and you can use it for other stuff you can water your plants if you're long-term long-term glamping you get your plants you throw it in the bush i was going to do a full-on demonstration of the shower working but this is a family show so i will show you it working so we got we got our cold cold water hot water refreshing shower and you can close the blinds shower curtain okay huh okay privacy and what's cool about this is that you've got your your window so when you're having a shower you can still see if there's a bear going to sneak up on you and get you so it's kind of like privacy with the added security of nobody sneaking up on you ever huh private public no bears are going to sneak up on me look no none huh in the shower when you want to do your business you bring your toilet in flip it up you got your toilet you sit on your toilet and then you want privacy the curtains how convenient is that a toilet in the woods completely private let's give you a little bit of a tour but first i want to touch on some of the some of the pluses so zach fallon ride had a little glamping build off competition and some of the features that he had on his i was going to address on mine so what he built was sort of a camper was obviously on wheels and it had a really large bed and a awning so you could uh cook out in the rain well i've addressed all those zak's camper you kind of crawl in to a dark space i did the opposite of that this is a very bright space it's got lots of lighting it's got windows i know zach didn't have any windows in his um you basically crawled into a bed but this one has a bed but it also folds up so that's the uh that's the benefit so you could probably well i'm sure of it if you folded up the bed you could actually put a full-size bed in the middle of it and have two people camping here i know my brother's going to be taking this thing for their own little glamping adventure and they're going to try to fit a double bed so you can check them out on their channel i'm sure that'll come up soon so the features we added was uh blinds could we want some privacy we can fold these guys down and that gives us complete privacy it also doubles as a thermal insulation so if you want to keep the hot out or if you want to keep the hot in or if you want to keep the cool in or to cool out you roll these guys down it gives you a little bit of a you know upgrade because these are old camper windows they do seal amazingly well the weather stripping is still intact the water doesn't come in and the the air stays out it's very very airtight we've also got the screens the screens are going to prevent us from having bugs and mosquitoes and whatnot and we fixed our crank mechanism so we can open our windows no problem now and uh what's neat about the little cranks is they tuck it in behind the curtains so that's good we also have area up here for appliances and uh you know other stuff kind of like a side what they call it credenza so if you have this little as your office you can have your flat screen tv up up top here uh when i took it out i use my right projector on the ceiling because the ceiling is completely white so that's kind of space saving and then over here we've got our flip up desk area here so everything flips up everything's kind of multi-purpose multi-use so that's the way that goes there we've got uh we got our little hooks here we can hang our hat someplace we've got uh a little usb fan that allows us to you know stay cool give us a little bit of a little bit of a breeze if we want to got our dimmer we knew that we can we can dim our lights dim our lights for a little bit of mood lighting again those thermal sort of roller blinds so now we can peek in and then we've addressed the security issue we've got a chain latch which is secured to the structure of the building itself we've got a proper door knob right there doorknob nice and tight you can hear that i don't know if you can hear that but that's that's so sealed the uh the windows pop in and out that's how tight air tight this thing is and we've got a uh a latch a hasp latch in order to lock this thing when you're not there and when you're inside you throw the lock onto the hasp part of it or the latch part of it so people can't lock in because that's important you don't want to be locked in there and i failed to mention we have or is it a carbon monoxide detector and smoke detector in case you know stuff goes wrong we've got our jackery so we've got line voltage we've got usb power we've got dc voltage we've got everything right there and that thing can be charged with the solar panels on the roof so your almost self-contained well you are self-contained you've got you've got everything and like i was saying before we've addressed the you know place to cook in the rain we've got our awning we've got our you know i don't even know how many square feet of counter space we could put appliances toasters hot plates deep fryers slow cookers all that sort of stuff did i mention we also added a kitchen sink this kitchen sink is plumbed into a cistern with 15 gallons of water you can always fill it up as you go collect some rainwater if you want or ideally get a spot near the lake oh yeah we're going back over here because i forgot i forgot something forgot something we've got stabilizers we've got the three different outriggers we got one on each side and that allows us to level this thing on uneven terrain get the bounce out of it working our way to the front we've got some more towel storage or if you want to you know air out your sleeping bag after you've slept in it all night and it got a little moist hang this guy out here what did i mention there's solar lights solar lights with occupancy sensors so if anybody sneaks up on you these things will turn on in the middle of the night they're solar powered so they charge up during the day and then it makes their way over to this back side which is offers a little bit of paradise here we've got our outdoor shower this shower comes complete with hot and cold water you're like how do you get the hot in there well the hot comes in from a solar collector on the roof it's like a garden hose in the sun so that allows you to have piping hot water if you're in the sun and then when you turn it on the water comes out there piping hot we can hook a total of four of these guys up to give us 400 watts of power charging that battery pack during the day gives us ample amount of power that thing also you can charge with with uh your household power or you can hook it up to your car the good thing about it is if you do charge it at home the thing's got so much power in it that it just lasts forever it's the jackery explorer 1500 the links in the description below if you want to take a look at that so there's one more thing that i guess both our campers didn't address was a place to poop so i've come up with a solution to that and that's a portable toilet this little guy here you can move it anywhere you want if you've got privacy in the bush you bring that thing over there you poop in the woods or if you don't have privacy and you got high-density camping you can actually take this guy you put it in the shower stall and you've got privacy if you've got your you know your four walls a little slice of heaven and then when you're done you shower and then you can shave that's the three s as a camping right there the shower and shave anyways zach it's been it's been great competing with you i uh wish you all the best may the best man win best glamper win camper to camper clamper to glamper i want you guys to go and check out zach fowler at fowler's makery and mischief because he's also done his pimping out his glamour and i want you guys to decide the final verdict on who has built the best camper so now we have to take everything down including the awning in order to transport this thing on the road i've got to take out the bed as well because chris and courtney over at the wooded beards channel are going to take this thing out towards secondary voyage so if you want to see all of the features that are in this build get used tune into his channel
