welcome back to ringworm folks we've had a couple weeks of really nice weather here in michigan and the trails have dried up enough that i can now get the little tractor out ahead stored up here it's been stuck there because of all the mud so far this spring but i think it's about time i pull it out and if you caught a previous video i got the chainsaw mill out milled up some junk aspirin i like to call it uh the boards and lined my little four-wheeler trailer with a one-inch aspen just so i can put gravel in it so i get to see if i can get the tractor started get it out of here now down to the near the road i got one more pile of gravel that i'm going to use as a run-up ramp for a little bridge i'm going to put in right here i'm hoping it's not going to take more than a couple days to do probably can't tell on camera but this is this depression i filled in used a ton of gravel last year and i suppose it helped unfortunately all the water when it rains or the snow melts it all comes down this hill sits in this little trough on the side here and eventually spills over so it's got to go somewhere i'm always looking for ways to uh use up the down wood around here you know i cut down some trees that are dead or if i take them down you know melt up the big chunks and then there's the kind of in between size that i hold on to that'd be perfect to build this bridge who knows you know maybe i can do it maybe i can't i think it'll be drivable but it very well may not be pretty so let's see what happens when i get the chainsaw out actually first i gotta go get the jumper box and see if i can get this tractor running look how dry it is it's amazing there's no mud at all yeah there she is looking lonely still in one piece i don't see any big nests that's a plus pretty good just gotta measure this out i guess decide how long a bridge it should be nice little hump here so maybe i'll use that put the boards right into the bottom of it i don't know maybe cut six foot long like three sections of six foot oh yeah that's real long never built the bridge before have you good enough for starters i think the bridge will go right here and then i can backfill that afterwards and then it's the same on this side just got kind of a gravel end there maybe the boards would go to like right here and i can just fill that in i don't know how do you build a bridge who knows let's get the chainsaw out find some scrap wood [Music] got a whole lot of logs laying around like this i think anything that's uh very straight let's set aside and use for my build my man cave tool room it's gonna be super wonky and gnarly and chunky and funky and you know the rest of those words but i'm just gonna drive on it so i also grabbed my uh two little spool saw horses that i was just gonna burn i used uh when i milled that what was that oh the big uh giant white pine when i built the sky deck just to get the log up off the ground so i'll cut these in six foot sections and then pick them up set them on that so at least i'm not running the risk of dropping the bar into the dirt somewhere around six feet [Music] i guess i'll just try to make this three pieces kind of guess at it she's got to be heavy enough to hold what like half a four-wheeler and a person [Music] one [Music] i found the trick here is not to cut this board all the way through because if you do the side falls off and the log won't sit there so i cut it most of the way through and then stuck the bar through a few times and when i flip it over i'll be able to see where that cut is and just chop it the rest of the way off so do the second one [Music] [Music] wow boy [Music] [Music] good season to peel logs i shouldn't be doing that with this knife but it was in my pocket so what you gonna do i'll get these a couple logs cut up and then peel them clearly you can peel them first and it seems like it might be easier but these cedars are a lot of trees are so so wet and slimy and slippery right underneath the bark that if you set it on here without the bark on it and you put a saw into it the whole log will just go shooting out of here so cut them up first then peel them as soon as you get solid i'll stove it you can't see what you're doing so you go through with this saw first and just kind of score it um i had to get a different knife didn't want to break my uh 12 everyday carry wow i only cut this down a few weeks ago and look at i don't know if you can see underneath the bug's already got into it and they did it systematically do that crazy huh i've not seen that in the cedars before that many bugs in that short of time sure beats peeling logs in the winter when it's all all the barks frozen onto the log wow bugs are amazing how quickly i guess it's possible the bugs could have been in it before i cut it down well six pieces that's probably almost enough for a third of it so that wasn't too bad only took 30 40 minutes to cut and peel it kill those other two and find some more logs just to prove that i really care i saved you watching me limb this whole thing and drag it out of the woods it's just a gift consider it a gift small token my appreciation [Music] woof [Music] uh [Music] um and this is going to be a one solid bridge holy got a little excessive but then on this end of it maybe two and a half inches these are like four whatever as long as it doesn't collapse and even if it collapses that's fine oh yeah that's a solid one maybe come back and grab a couple of those for the feet and it's amazing how fast it can change down here anywhere around here this is like two days later and so much greener all sorts of different flowers coming up ladies slippers strawberries those are bunch berries i think all sorts of good stuff you can actually smell the strawberries something like that and then uh go go back and grab those stumps maybe stumps here i don't know what do you think like a log across on top of the stumps and then these sit on that maybe luckily i can see the tire prints so i don't have to go too much outside of those actually don't have to go inside either i guess it could just be like that almost maybe i'll do four and four early attempts at filling in this giant hole who knows how many of those are under there well quite a few wow you know me if i get the opportunity without a chainsaw running gotta listen my podcast got 99 invisible on now if you ever heard that one it's a it's a must oh yeah look at that how much you filled this in wow this was a monster monster pet i forgot all that stuff was in there it's got logs a layer of gravel and then another layer oh two layers of logs in there just filled up the uh gas tank on the chainsaw bar oil you know threw the chainsaw back on the four-wheeler and apparently i didn't put the cap on the bar oil so i just spent about 20 minutes uh shining up the front of the four-wheeler now it's waterproof just pulling some short logs out of the pile here that probably won't probably won't get used for other stuff and look at these look at these piles of sawdust this is um i'm not sure if this pine or fur but these are cedar cedar doesn't have those piles but look at all the bugs get underneath here and they see all these little tiny holes like that you can see where they go right in there just eat the thing alive so if i might keep these and i have to uh they're already destroyed these would be firewood now i just pulled all these logs uh i don't know a month or so ago and do a pile because they were laying all over in the forest and thought i'd get them in one spot in case i needed uh something to build with i guess the logs that aren't cedar are gonna have to get burned up you can actually hear him chomping in there that's how you want to peel them [Music] um oh [Music] [Music] [Applause] that looks pretty solid it's the cleanup crew today a little busted let's try it mostly want to cut this one because it's in the shade might as well leave it attached to cut it huh [Music] um got myself some feet i'm gonna use for one sec i think i gotta trim all the knots off of this real fast [Music] [Music] oh hey look it i'm almost using the right kind of screws isn't that weird well i guess before i get any further take a minute make sure all this is going to drain i don't think it needs a medal it'd just be more work it ought to be strong enough i think maybe well gotta trim them all but i'm one bridge span short go find eight more boards hello skydeck this is a log i threw aside there for something put a couple more in that pile hmm oh had to go cut a couple extras because there were two boards that were just a little bit too flexy i think these are going to last a long [Music] time [Music] [Music] wow [Music] seems solid [Music] um [Music] well i thought i'd probably probably better drive this over it empty first before i fill it up with gravel and have it cave in which it might do i'm gonna run down fire up the tractor and uh get a load and just fill these in i'm kind of curious i want to drive it back over here just packed with gravel as heavy as anything will ever be going over this and just see what happens i think it's not gonna be any problem at all i know i know famous last words i gotta admit i was a little more confident about this until i filled the trailer all the way up with gravel go ahead and get rid of a little before i drive over the first time i don't hear any creaking or cracking yet so i guess the next trip over is a full load if i had to guess i'd say this will hold up but i will not be surprised at all if i break something i got the trailer as absolutely full of gravel as it as it can be star just fell over the side so let's see what happens i saw a couple of these boards flex pretty good oh yeah they might need some support underneath them whatever it's good enough for now you know i expected this would take about a day one to two days to do this whole thing and it's been about a week i know you guys all wonder or a lot of you wonder how i can live out here in northern michigan year round in a tent not freeze to death but i find the winter is a lot easier in the summer even days like yesterday was 80 degrees and by noon i was just overheating i was getting dizzy of course i probably don't eat enough when i do this kind of work but it can only work in the morning and evening when it's that warm and i know plenty you guys live where it gets to be over 100 and more power to you but i can't do it it's too hot i don't know why but that's really satisfying to fill that in went down a different trail to go back and get another load of gravel and there's a big tree i guess came down last night because i think i drove on it yesterday that same trail had to get the chainsaw to clear it off it's funny now that i think about it i think i heard that in my dream it got like incorporated into my dream the noise of that coming down that crack and crash oh it's gonna roll away without me if i don't keep my hand on the brick for those of you that are new to the channel uh if you've ever wondered what it'd be like to grab a tent a couple chainsaws and take off by yourself to live in the woods you might like this channel might be something for you so consider subscribing i'll uh in the future video if it ever rains again we've had like a month and a half of very little rain it's been very dry which is a problem because i'm almost out of water here my water tank's almost empty and i didn't fill up the reserve so i'm just waiting and hoping but anyway when it does uh rain again i'll i'll show this uh the bridge again when it's all filled up underneath here and this whole hillside just drains right through here it'll look considerably different anyway appreciate you guys watching as always off to another big project way bigger actually more fun too the bigger payoff you'll like it you
