on this episode of custom 5 garage we're going to be going over a wide body mini cooper that we had built what happened to the vehicle when it took a a strong right turn um basically the owner did not want to wait on me to build a wide body he went to somebody else i was super busy and he had stopped on the wide body because he did not want to proceed any further this video is going to kind of show you what that person had actually built or started to build what was underneath that wide body that they had done because they had actually inserted the wide body to the valley of the car then fiberglassed over it put speaker grill cloth speaker cloth fiberglass all these different things all over it they damage the wrap damage the vehicle damage the body resin drift all over the vehicle wheels everything so we're going to kind of show the exterior of this wide body that this person had built we rip that off cut it all out and show what's underneath that we're going to clean all that up so this video is going to kind of go over that and then we're going to kind of go over some of the things we had to do to clean up underneath there and cuts and get the wide body prepared to go onto the vehicle so basically we had to cut out more of the wheel tubs and the wheel wells to be able to accommodate the wheels to go all the way up on the air ride the air ride would not go all the way down it was going to cut the tires so in this video we're going to kind of show how we prepare ourselves for the new wide body that we're going to build and the preparation for what we had to do from the other person and what damage had been done to it from there we're also going to make an episode after this that will probably continue this process in preparation for the new wide body that we're going to build so stay tuned [Music] [Music] so [Music] [Music] all right we're going to show how this mini cooper came to us so this is a little video showing kind of what we're having to start with and deal with so this is the uh driver's side rear where there's dura glass and everything just dropped on top of this this quarter and then if you go over here to the front one this is what they've done to the front one it's all scratched taped up down here the wheel has gotten resin dripped all over it you know there's resin dripped on here they didn't tape off anything they didn't you know the wheels were just exposed and there's resin drop there there's over spray all over the car from where the tape line is right here there's overspray all above they've got all over the wrap they must have buffed a car right next to it and shot buffing compound all over the top of this car everywhere there's buffing compound on this beautiful car and this one is the one that they've somewhat done if you kind of look here and then they grind it into this with the dye grinder and this is kind of what we're dealing with here so everywhere that this is a net from this line around there's over spray all over this um they die grinded into there i mean this is just ridiculous i can't believe people do work like this same situation here i mean this is an extremely extremely nice car i guess that they tried to plasti dip this i'm guessing and it's just already coming off i'm just i mean this car is super nice to be looking like this well we are going to be starting on this mini cooper project for doing the wide body someone else attempted to do it they didn't quite get enough cut off on here so we're going to have to cut off more and clean all these cuts up it's just you got to get this all nice and plus this is sitting down hitting the tire when it's fully aired out they actually nutserted into the body and then fiberglassed over it so they were permanent and it ate into the wrap it destroyed it they dropped fiberglass all over the vehicle hit the vehicle here i mean there's there's a lot of a lot of damage done to this um this is what it looks like right now there's just a lot of stuff that we're going to have to fix when we go into this we're going to take these these are going to come completely off because they come so close to the tire we're going to have to bring this out farther it's an awesome awesome car then they put tape on this side and the tape residue because they use dollar store tape is just horrible they drop their glass on the car there's just so much stuff that's bad there's actually resin dripped on the wheel and on the tire there's resin all over the tire where they dripped on these brand new wheels but i mean you can see where the nutserts were we had to cut all this out i mean it is it's just terrible i mean this can't get close to that tire at all we're gonna have to cut way more out but probably gonna have to end up rewrapping this mainly because that tape has just destroyed the wrap but this is an awesome awesome car we did full audio in it attended the taillights um just interior swap from tan to black this is a big project and then somebody else ruined this part of it so we did these headlights in black because they came in chrome we refinished all these because they were completely destroyed but it is a badass car and we're going to make it back to how it used to be before this happened all right this is how bad it is kind of showing a video of how bad this cut is and how bad the tape marks are how bad this cut and jagged we're going to clean all that up get all this looking normal so this is step one we've got to fix all this before we go any further because these jagged parts here and all this are falling down into the tire and can almost slid it and cut it same for same for the back side look at how bad these cuts are those are going to cause problems when it falls down because this part right here just falls right down into the tire that's just going to cut the tire it's so sharp it just almost cut my finger so we've got to fix all this and clean all this up there it is oh dude bro that was a big ass spider dude look at how big that dude that was that big just running across [Music] i hope that's the only one doubt it is big [Music] all right so we've got this cut i still haven't cleaned it up 100 around but well literally compared to what it looked like before was a massacre so we're going to see if this is enough room to drop down and get the air ride to go all the way down okay okay bag air out the back too okay air out the front okay [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] so [Music] [Music] [Music] all right well step one we've got everything cut out so now the vehicle body is not sitting on the wheels think freaking god because it was actually sitting on top of the damn wheels okay we're going to start trying to fix all this nastiness not going to be easy but we went ahead and bought these universal pieces really actually pretty nice quality we're going to be putting those on here and using it it's kind of like a somewhat of a mold i'll kind of show you once we get everything on here but that's what we're going to do to kind of fit how we're going to get everything on here i'll kind of show you once we get everything put on all right we got everything taped off so we can start mounting this on here and getting it molded in this red line here basically well it looks black in this video but that is where he had the previous wide body that dug into the body and destroyed the vinyl wrap so we're gonna have to try to go above that because of that reason um as you can see over here how bad it dug into the side of the car and dug into the wrap and everything else and ripped it all apart which was a fresh wrap so that kind of sucks but we'll figure it out all right we got this bolted on here pretty good looking pretty nice this is with it completely aired out but still got to make some pieces down here at the bottom but looking pretty good just to be able to make our mold all right we made our little piece down here out of cardboard basically or paper or whatever you wanna call it um but made this piece just to basically run this all the way down to the side skirt then we're going to start taping all this up as well just get ready to start making our mold so this is the driver's side which i got a lot of tape on it but as you can see there is an ass load of residue where he left all this shitty ass dollar store tape all over here so that's somehow gonna have to be removed it's all under a lot of but it's underneath this new tape i'm putting on too but it looks like ass and that's gonna have to be completely redone but i don't know why the hell he did that and then left it out in the sun in the water but we're gonna try to do what we can do and get it fixed got this side all taped up besides right there we're gonna figure out what we're gonna do on that back part but getting ready to put the flare on the side passenger side is done so here's what it's going to look like pretty much on the back side [Music] got everything all taped up looking really nice [Music] it's looking really good um not figuring out how we're gonna do the back yet but we'll figure that all out but it may look lumpy and like mashed potatoes but we'll get it all sorted out and get it all fiberglassed on there all right we got the driver's side done all taped up i start putting on the aluminum foil getting everything ready to be able to release the mold so it's about two rolls of tape jesus christ got our line drawn looking really good be really cool to see when it's all finished putting the aluminum foil on so we can make our mold [Music] okay so we have all this covered in aluminum foil we have it all taped up we also have the mold release agent put on to it so that we can pull everything off um we're going to be using our resin basically our normal fiberglass resin we've got our brush [Music] everything that we're going to be using on the first step we've got all cut to this box we're going to be using the plain weave style carbon fiber style fiberglass mat first and then we're going to be going to the chopped hair on the second third steps to make it thicker and more more basically more you know enough to be able to handle the stress and you know weights of anything that gets put on it this stuff is very structural works really well with contours but it doesn't hold up as well as the top batting when it comes to pressure anything that gets put on it or waiting on it it'll start to crack or bow so we're going to start with this stuff here all right we're mixing up our fiberglass resin so all right we have about three or four layers of chopped matting in about three or four layers of the carbon fiber style mesh but looks like ass but it will look much better once we get everything all cut out and shaped and formed so just the first stage [Music] all right and then we pop the mold off there's the mold there's the back side one big happy ass goddamn player all that works for that all right we're gonna get ready to cut this piece down i gotta cut all this nastiness off here basically all this nastiness here and here we gotta get all this smoothed out and clean looking really nice i'll show you how that goes looks like mashed potatoes of gravy but we're going to get this all looking good we got a lot of shaping a lot of forming a lot of everything but we'll get it good we're at 40 grit right now we're gonna skim coat it again go over it again again and again 80 100 probably 180 do some urethane primer and get it all perfectly straight looking good though we applied our last coat most people call this metal glaze i just take bondo mix it with resin and make it all work but it's getting all smoothed out we're getting ready to go over it again but it's looking really really good all right we are not quite done with the bodywork yet but it's all formed you know it's not perfect by any means because we're only at 80 grit but we're getting ready to throw some 2k primer on there and that's pretty much the gist of how it's going to look we're going to go with no rivets no bolts no nothing so looking really good well we are attaching these before we go any further on the body work so what we're doing is we're actually drilling a hole through this and through the body countersinking the hole we're going to fiberglass over all these screws and are basically bolts sorry i apologize and then on the back side we're using washer and nuts so that this will basically have studs sticking out of it attach on and then bolt from the back side and we can get our hand underneath there and just bolt it underneath so that way these will be 100 secure won't be any issues they'll be very very solid on the car all right we actually defeated the fender flare so we got it on here we fiberglassed over our screw holes and our bolts wherever we're going to bolt in so basically this piece will bolt in from the back side we skim coated all these parts right here because there's some small gaps things like that but now this will kind of pull off which is pretty amazing it's kind of kind of hard because the way this is designed now don't mind those other screw holes that were there from before me but now we have bolts on each one of these and then you can just tighten it on and this will actually just tighten right onto there so this is very secure very safe i mean we have literally seven seven of these with bolts and washers so should work pretty good got them all ready looking it's good how much work they look loose there because they're not attached by the way but man so much work to get these to fit so much work but man i think they're gonna look awesome when they're wrapped i can't wait all right this one's a lot worse this is the one that's one stage behind so we only have one one layer of feather fill it's got a lot of pits in it so we're gonna have to do another layer of feather fill on this one so we're sanding it down with 80. [Music] well we're doing really good we got our first coat of feather fill on here sanded that all down it's looking super super super smooth i'm really happy with the outcome it's looking really nice well it's looking really good it's got a little bit more sanding to do and we'll hover down but it's looking really good so far we finally got all the body work done we still have to go through some feather fill and primer but man it looks so awesome everything is looking really really really good especially with the dumped it looks so good it's not bolted on so that's why it kind of looks a little loose but man it looks so good we are getting ready to put these in feather fill we'll make a video of that but man they're looking good tremendous amount of body work to get these perfect oh man that's a lot of work all right we got these off we're going to spray them use polyester feather fill one of the best honestly possible materials we could use on top of this because so much bondo so much fiberglass it's got a lot of pits it needs to cover it up we got them all primed looking good a lot of sanding to do a lot of sanding all right two layers of feather fill we got one more layer of 2k primer getting ready to put down but man these things are looking amazing so much work all right we're getting ready to wrap this i'll show you what it looks like afterwards but it should be a lot of fun yeah i mean either man gotta say we did a pretty good job on this bodywork wow i mean this is just a wrap but it's just crazy how straight it came out we don't have it bolted up yet but it it's just crazy i can't wait to bolt it on here and clean this all up but it's just crazy how how straight it is i mean that is just insane to me we don't even have ceramic coat or anything on here yet so it's pretty amazing good bodywork okay all right so we've got most of our structure built here i know it looks funny we've been taking post-it cards using it on the tape basically to keep it to bow so basically what was happening before was it was going like this and now we want it to go like this that way it just keeps it easier to keep the shape and everything so everything's looking really good right here really happy the way it turns out now we just have to duplicate it to the other side kind of hard to make them both symmetrical exactly the same that's the hardest part about doing this is making everything symmetrical on both sides and exactly the same design got it all taped up getting ready to put on some fiberglass looking good though hold right here so we got all the aluminum foil on so that way we can make our mold definitely put on the floor this time because last time we got fiberglass on everything so definitely want to cover up the wheel everything is ready to go to be able to make our mold all right we got it all fiberglassed it looks like complete garbage i had a ton of ton of problems with they want to slide and have issues just definitely wasn't my day so i've had to do this two or three different days in a row try to fix it and it's just been a nightmare but i'll make it look 100 times better kevin's over here taping their lovely postcard way of doing this seeming to work pretty good we got the other side we needed to arch this and build something up underneath it so that it would arch it ended up working out pretty good so may seem dumb to some people but 99 cents to some tape saves me a lot of bodywork and headaches in the long run so works pretty good this guy over here standing sansan saying all day long so much dirt glass got brown der glass we got green der glass i got all different colors whatever you want all right flares are cut chopped and primered this is a tremendous amount of work to get all three of these pieces to fit together and to be able to open and close properly so this is definitely not one of the easier things to do but it's looking good getting ready to be able to wrap wet sand all this and we'll be ready to wrap all right this one is formed it's getting to be where it needs to be tremendous tremendous tremendous amount of work sorry but tremendous amount of work this side is in primer getting ready to block it so it can be wrapped just so much work to get this right let's get them wheels to fit on here too it's insane i really didn't try to get it dirty goddamn gina this car i think that tight oh damn [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] hey [Music] [Music] uh [Music] so so [Music] you
