Very cool.
If I were you I'd add some flotation to the hulls. Either blocks of foam, or kayak float bags. That way it won't sink to the bottom if there's an "incident". I'd also highly recommend that you wear a PFD when you use it.
Sweet...,also agree with flotation and life jacket
Very impressive, I watched the whole thing, I am guessing you do something like this for a living, great access to some serious tools.
On Kayaks, the rudder is not fixed vertically so that if you hit bottom or a rock the rudder won't break off, but just jump up and drop once cleared. Also I see that folks have mentioned kayak ballast in hulls. One last thing, the center of buoyancy should move forward or backwards based on driver weight. Are you in Hamburg?
Very nice build, extremely clean and tidy with minimal windage, and probably over-engineered but who's counting ?
It's interesting to compare with the fiberglass + repurposed scrap parts hybrid solar+pedal trimaran that this guy built on an isolated Panama islet.
What's the reasoning behind the hard stations?
Sheet materials like metal or plywood are hard to get into compound curves, so hulls made of them usually have hard chines, but I see no reason to not make them fair in the fore and aft direction.
Wow amazing. How hard is it to weld 1mm aluminium? How long do you have to learn welding to do this?
Like the design and video.
