hi I'm Carly Bell and welcome to my crafter today I want to show you how to use a five by twelve repositionable hoop on your brother pe 770 or PE 800 so I have this really large hoop and I want to put a design on this beautiful heirloom quilt that I got for my cousin's new baby so I have showed you how to put any one a baby blanket before and I will link that video in the top box up here but so the only difference today is I'm going to show you it on this giant hoop and we're going to put the name right here on the bottom in the middle of the blanket and then I'm going to show you how to make the design on in brilliance essential software so that will essentially have two designs so it will will make the design to go the full length of the 12 inches wide here but the software will help me to split it into two different designs that I will move on the machine then I'll show you all that ahead of time but for now let's go ahead and heat the blanket so the first thing we want to do is figure out the placement of the design and I am putting it on the in the middle of the bottom of the quilt so I'm going to use a measuring tape to figure out my center and I'm actually going to just measure using the what not doing the border but just the white in the middle so just the white in the middle is 28 so that gives us 14 being our Center and so we can see that that kind of line here this is the center here so I'm gonna keep that in mind and while I use the grid that comes with my hoop and it's going to be pretty much right in the center of this medallion design here okay so and now I'm just thinking about how I'm going to hoop and I want all of the rest of the blanket to go on the outside so actually we're going to turn it around here and like the clamps will be here and all that rest of the blankets gonna go on the outside so I just want to think about that okay so it's going to be in this direction and just make sure that it's centered and going straight once you find your spot that you want to have it you can use the disappearing ink fabric marker to mark a few of the holes in the grid I'll just mark a couple of them back okay so you see those marks and we can use a ruler to create some crosshairs okay so we're done with placement now on the blanket so now let's get the hoop ready so I'm going to take my blanket put it on the side and for the hoop we're just going to use tearaway stabilizer [Music] okay and then we have the placement mark on the hoop and now we will spray it with some temporary spring adhesive ready to go wait my placement marks on the blanket so now I'ma turn my brackets are here so I'm gonna have all the extra blanket on this side and now I'm just gonna lay the blanket and I'll take like my finger on these dots and these dots and try and place them right on top of where they are on the hoop and then I will just line them up at the top make sure they lined up on the side and then check the bottom my mic is right there it so please rub it down to where it's sticking to the spray adhesive and now we can put some water-soluble topper and pin it to give it a little secure it a little bit more to the [Music] okay now that we have the blanket hooped floated on top of the hoop and the water-soluble topper it's ready to bring over to the machine so this is an brilliance essentials that I have open here and right now I have what I usually use which is a 5 by 7 whoo and I can tell by looking at the size down here so it tells me we have a 5 by 7 so to start preparing a design for the multi positionable 5 by 12 loop first we need to change the size and we do that by pressing this folder icon here and you see we're under p/es for the brother machine which i have and this is normal hoop sizes so like I said normally I'm at the 130 to 180 millimeter which is approximately 507 or 100 by 100 which is approximately 4 before but today we're going to look at multi positionable hoops and we are working with the 130 by 300 which is the 5 by 12 so we can hit apply and I can see already now it's it's vertical so I'm going to rotate it 90 degrees and hit apply and now we're done so now we have the 5 by 12 hoop and the thought process behind it is it's going to separate the design into this frame here and its own 5 by 7 and then it's going to make another design in this frame here making another 5 by 7 side so depending on what you're working with this is the cutoff area in between here and here deciding on if it's going to go in this frame or if it's gonna go in this frame so let's go ahead and put the design together and I want a name so I'm gonna press my letter design icon and I'm gonna choose my Natalie script font and two inches and I believe this is from appliquéd corner and I will type out her name and it be rows set and I'm just going to manually using the cursors on my keyboard move these script letters over so that they flow nicely on to one another and this will also help fit into the frame so you can use this space key to go in and out of because I don't really I don't want to move the space between the capital letter in the first lowercase I'm just gonna do it by hand [Music] now I'm going to Center it on the horizontal axis and then the vertical axis and I'm going to just shrink it down a little bit so that it fits in the frame okay and that shouldn't compromise the stitches because I only reduced it by above 7% my rule of thumb is don't increase or decrease the size greater than 20% that's kind of my cutoff on that doesn't compromise the stitches so we have her name and I also want to add some designs around her name some like vintage sketch designs that came with another font so I'm gonna merge using this icon here merge a stitch file and this is from embroidery boutique air ballerina vintage font if you want to see this is what it looks like but I didn't want to use that for this blanket I wanted something with a satin stitch but I do like the designs that come with it so I'm going to use this medium rose and this swirl design and the swirl design these so I'm gonna hit import so now I have all the three of pippers so let's start with the rose yeah yeah I think I'm gonna put some roses in the corners this will appear but I want to turn it I want to flip it like that there we go so you could do that with this button here and this one at the bottom and I'm gonna stretch it out just a little again I'm not gonna go over 20% I went up 16% so that's okay and I want another rose I'm gonna take this Rose copy and then pace and drag it here and I think I might turn it around [Music] okay now make sure this swirl design is centered make sure this one is centered and make sure my lettering is right okay so I think that is it so just from looking at it what I can tell is the swirls will definitely be split they're going to stop stitching and then when we move the repositionable hoopla it's going to pick up in the same spot and Stitch the letters will probably stop at the letter e what happened to the letters they didn't [Music] yes okay so double-checking everything looks good okay so even though this flows it's gonna stop probably at the letter e on this frame and it might stitch the D and the Y on the second part of the frame and then like I said it's gonna stop stitching these scrolls and then just pick up when we move it so now let's go to just begin all right file save stitch file as with my USB link it PS and save and now we can go to the machine and start stitching okay so now we're at the machine and we are ready to load our baby blanket on and I have my thread colors in the order that I want to stitch them already but something I forgot to show you about the hoop is the brackets so that's what makes it repositionable so normally on a five by seven bracket there is only two positions on here we have four positions so within brilliants from what I can tell our first the first part of the design will put it I think on this side um but you on the two outer and then when it's time to move it we will go to the other two brackets so I hope that makes sense but that's why there are so many hooks here and so that the first part of the design goes on one side and then when it's done stitching you take the hoop out move it and clip it on on these two brackets let's go ahead alright so if we are looking at my blanket of course want my name to start stitching siren if this is all over the place okay when I'm looking at my blanket of course want my name to start stitching here so this is going to be the first part of my design so I'm going to do these two brackets for the first part but other than that you know blankets are pretty easy it's not you don't have the problem he's having to keep extra you know material out of the way the sewing field everything lays flat and it goes pretty nicely and you just have to make sure nothing hit it fold back and go underneath the hoop on accident also when working with the multi positionable who because it is so long make sure you have a lot of area behind your machine because like I have a wall here so I'm gonna pull the Machine forward a little bit to make sure when it's going back and forth it doesn't hit my back wall here now we need to actually look at the design so once we hit the USB button we can scroll through okay and here's my design and I could tell that this side is the Kennedy part on this side it's the ROS parts I'm going to hit upload and one thing I did notice within brilliance and I don't know how to take it off because it doesn't show it on my computer screen but there's a basting stitch and I don't want to do this basting stitch so I'm gonna hit adjust the needle with the plus or minus and then the spool plus so I can go to the next stitch so the first stitch on this design is going to be the bottom scroll and I'm going to do that in silver the Roses and a little bit darker pink with green leaves and then her name I'm gonna do in the lighter pink that matches the color of the blanket so now just thread the machine [Music] okay so the first half of the design just finished stitching so now I need to move my hoop and load the second design so I am going to lift the boot up okay my presser foot is up and I'm just going to slide it towards me here and then go to the other two brackets on the other end of it and make sure it's in place okay so now you can see the center of the needle is now on this other end of the hoop and it will stitch the other side of the design which I can load now hit okay and go back to the home screen and go through and find this design again now I have my second half buck blue tit again I have this basting stitch that I want to skip and so now on this one he wants to do the rows first I have my grey thread already in my silver thread so I'm gonna start with the scroll stitch and so now you can see how it really picks up so it did like a double stitching make it thicker here but this was only a single so what it's gonna do is it's gonna go all the way back to here and double stitch this back and then continue with the design so you you won't be able to tell that this was split into two designs there's no line separating them and then it went through the e on her name and so just D and Y and again with this world stitch it'll do the same thing you'll come back to here and you won't even be able to tell that this was split and two designs when it's done so let's get started now that the blanket is finished stitching would just raise the presser foot and carefully remove the hoop from the Machine and I can bring it over to the table and clean it up but you can see it it came out really cute and there's no distinction on where the two frames were split at all between the lettering and the scrolling that it actually did split the design so I think you came up really cute so we are finished stitching the blanket so my first thing I'm going to do is remove the pins that's holding down the water so you little topper and then I'm going to cut some jump stitches [Music] okay now that all the jump stitches are cut now we'll just tear away the water-soluble copper okay so here is a thread that looks like it's starting to come undone a little bit and to fix that I use something called fray check and I will put some right over the threads before I cut this stray thread that's poking out just in case if I don't want anything to come undone okay so we got the water-soluble topper up I'm a spray some water especially on these roses I didn't get inside it there and then just use an old towel to wipe away any copper and then we can also use a tie pin to remove the placement marks from the disappearing ink pin [Music] so now all the marks are gone and then we can remove it so this is tearaway and it's not hoop so you can just rip the blanket back then once you get it because I'm blankets normally on shirts I don't care too much with the back that the shirt looks like flip a blanket I do care so I am going to clip some of these stitches carefully not too close to the blanket leave just a little bit of of thread on the other side so don't compromise the front stitches and then I will try and remove as much tare way as possible [Music] okay so you can see here that we've removed most of the tear way and the stray stitches on the other side of the blanket so it still looks nice and the front looks beautiful so we are all finished now with our baby your loom blanket quilt using the five by twelve repositionable hoop so it was very easy product and brilliance makes it really easy to just make the design ish that you want it to look as the final product and then splits it and the machine does a beautiful job of not even being able to tell where the design was split so overall I'm super happy with this project I am pretty sure my cousin and my aunt is what you love it really cute so I hope you enjoyed
