Broadhead Testing in Ballistic Gel = MISLEADING!

no it's fake and uh got a question for you how come when we watch Broadhead testing and all the videos on YouTube mostly YouTube where people are using ballistic gel or lots of layers of cardboard how come we find it except able penetrates about half the length of the arrow despite your own experience hunting and the other videos that are out there showing random and Sundry Aero performance stay tuned we're going to discuss gel blocks and some other stuff Let's Roll [Music] [Music] somehow we think and a Broadhead test into a homogeneous Target such as a gel block is valid at all again the question is how come we watch these videos and say well halfway there looks good that one penetrated like a quarter inch deeper than the other one but when you shoot animals and when you see other videos on YouTube the Aero performance is wide and varied and somehow shooting something that stops the arrows almost exactly the same is valid at all okay so I don't know a year year and a half ago I was at Ashby's house yeah I'm running around and me and Barnett decided we needed a jail block and I wanted to test some stuff and Ed said listen here's the deal well I'll have the foundation get you all the jail block y'all can do some testing on it but it's not going to show you anything because all Hero is going to penetrate about the same and it's not valid and nor does it correspond to actual hunting situations and we have both me and Barnett because we're smart both thought but whatever you don't know what you're talking about foreign was right so back to the question I asked I just I'm not knocking so I'm going to show you some pictures here in a minute of some thumbnails and I cut out the faces and all that stuff I am not picking on other YouTube people they put out a lot of effort some of these guys shot 10 20 30 40 times they shot field points and shot broadheads it's a ton of work and videoing to put the stuff up oh and three or about five years ago I would have also agreed with their conclusion that this much more penetration from Brand X Broadhead might help you out but in the real world if you step out just the same and go wait a second every one of these tests shows about the same penetration there's people who've done heavy versus light there's people who've done all field points they've done micro macro you know shaft diameter tests and then the most common thing is a crapload of broadheads that they test and one will penetrate this much further than the others but generally speaking the penetration is super super consistent that doesn't correspond to reality at all look on YouTube and watch hunting videos my own experience that doesn't correspond at all but then we then we sit back it's called confirmation bias you want some confirmation that your brand abroad here penetrates this much further into a different Target than an animal the Steep philosophy don't tell anybody about confirmation bias basically another thing that happens here is people start out with a premise and try to prove it rather than shooting the jail and going that doesn't make any sense at all so we're going to go to the gel block real quick I'm going to show you a couple things if you've never messed with one they're pretty crazy it's way different than I expected and uh man they're heavy I mean I'm strong do steroids eat raw meat all the time Flex out do a lot of Fitness stuff I'm tough damn they're heavy so here's the block and I've got an arrow I shot it into it and it's penetrated about as far as you see on the YouTube videos it's easier to see on this side I don't know it's somewhere goes in about that far maybe there's a little more penetration on the YouTube videos but not a lot now tell me if you think this represents an animal tell me tell me well he's kind of grippy I don't think it moved at all and I was shaking it because I told you already I'm strong steroids and eating raw meat makes me strong but you think that an animal I almost knocked down the tripod okay after all that shaking he finally fell off you tell me that represents the thoracic wall of a bull elk is probably this wide and there's nothing behind it and there's blood lubricating Arrow and from inside of the rib to the other rib is basically air this is what's called a homogeneous Target it never changes that's why it's so tough to penetrate and get everything going all right back to the standard format for my videos with SpongeBob so I don't want you to get too wound up again here's a bunch of shots of uh [Music] hang on gotta have coffee here's a bunch of the again the shots of other people's channels if you put a comment in the comment section that says that's so-and-so's video my goal here is not I am not bashing on anyone in the archery industry they just don't understand the results corresponded to reality I don't think they're thinking that way but it's not a negative thing they put a ton of work into this and they're actually trying to figure stuff out so if you put a comment this is called a dictatorship the comment section of my channel and all my Instagram posts and all that stuff is a dictatorship and guess who is the dictator and I will delete them because if you're just up there trying to start crap or you want to inadvertently it's not inadvertent it's intentional try to paint me into a bad corner like I'm bashing on the guys and these these pictures that you see and you know what video that is which is kind of sad because that means you need to get a life or a girlfriend but that side of that if you put up a gum comment say that so-and-so's video I'm going to delete it because this is dictatorship so back to the beginning question how come the archery community accepts one half Arrow penetration heavy light Broadhead field point it's all about the same um we watch that stuff and go wow that's a hell of a good test I mean it is you're showing that a constant kinetic energy tool into a Target that sucks up kinetic energy and as I showed is quite adhesive we'll deliver the same results and it has no correlation to actual hunting and that's not me talking go on to this thing called the internet it's going to be around for a while type in Bow Hunting kills or bow hunting videos [Music] and watch like ten thousand of them and you tell me if you only see half an arrow of penetration one 100 percent of the time because in the testing with gel stacked cardboard and some of the other you know stimulants that people are trying very hard to replicate an animal it is a 100 percent within about this much penetration difference and there's always a ton of arrow sticking out the back of the gel the foam or the cardboard layers but we do not see 100 of the time this much arrow sticking out of a deer over an elk hey if you like this content I suggest you go to one of my playlists three that I might suggest a quartering two shot series my study of long-range Aero performance not me talking this is me pointing out basic simple facts do not overreach mentally try to get your bias confirmed by watching videos using a Target that is designed to stop things because Critters ain't and as I said again I'm going to say it one more time so the comments are down to moderately stupid go on the internet type in Bow Hunting kills and see what the air performance looks like all platforms all broadheads I've said this a thousand times on the heavy High 40 Center guy talking about Dr Ed's you know natal study I got that you can call me bias if you want fine put me in my box I'm okay with that even the mechanical broadheads and the light arrows which are 85 percent of the people out there on YouTube on video do not 100 of the time only get half an hour into the animals one place you could look is on the honey public Channel um me and Barnett along with honey puppet guys did a long discussion of what a constant kinetic energy machine which is what a bow is and what the performance should be like in a kinetic energy eating device such as a wall phone ballistic gel layers of cardboard and the detail is much greater there than here so there'll be a link in the
