the southeast of england northern food i'd say heavily gravied curried well i mean heavily anything to be honest greasy i just i have a feeling it's going to be very very greasy yep i like i'm actually quite hungry so i'm looking forward to some snacks so this is actually coming a great time yeah i've got vimto which is a staple in a northern british household i can love them so and it's described as a seriously mixed up blend of grapes raspberries and blackcurrants refreshingly fruity since 1908 there you go better than rye bean or oats no no i'm a non-believer ribena is is home robina is the only blackburn drink you can have it cold or hot hot rye [ __ ] is also absolutely fantastic there you go i'm taking a risk here it's like milking the tea that is so sweet i like my robina sweet that is just yeah i think if you drank a lot of them you'd probably like want to run around quite a lot yeah that's the whole point that's why the industrial revolution happened in the north it tastes like fun it's just a fun beverage what is even the flavor it's just sugar there is not a food taste there is no fruit coming through from this sugar with a little tang oh it's like yeah i will say this tastes more like an actual blackcurrant but that is not why i'm in this business floor i'm just going to go with what i actually believe and i genuinely think rabbina is nicer this isn't bad i i don't mind it but it's just not got that intense sugar hit that i need so i'm always going to stick to them too i think too always it's got to be ravina it has a more refined taste but what i will say is it's less fun it's less fun so what we've got here is the the eccles cake so an eccles cake is like a buttery sort of pastry crust filled with currants akin if you like to like a mince pie i have a beautiful scone done the devonshire way which is clotted cream and then jam i've also seen you don't put anything on it no jam eat it raw raw i mean i think i've got the short end of the straw here you know what now i'm not gonna lie you have i'm ready to dig into that skunk should we swap then go on then should we stop these two yeah all butter this is like a minced pie but i actually whereas i don't really like mince pies i quite like this i actually hate mince pies no that's not this is good you were right yeah i've got the john the john the john with scam and rheem no the scone with jam and cream what do you think it's good it's dry i'm not gonna lie to you this is grandma food have a ribena and an eccles cake and forever i'm not going to lie i do like the scarf yes i do like the scone i'm glad i enjoyed that it wasn't a waste but it's got to be a scone every day every day of the week that is like luxury that is a luxury snack i think that this is infinitely better than that actually i'm going to completely say scones are actually not very nice and actually i don't like this whole thing i think it's more about look yeah than any than taste i know what you mean more about you know having a tiered thing with your sandwiches i think that epitomizes this whole thing is that [Laughter] the southern thing you know it's like oh it looks really pretty it's very performative there's all these little rules about what you can and can't do and then we're up here quietly eating our efforts cakes having a mint time and everyone's down in devon like pretending to enjoy this thing the humble pork pie an absolute northerner staple you just go down to the shop and just like oh mum can i just have a quid for a porta pie yeah blah blah blah whatever nottingham street i don't know it's northern like look at that like congealed it's all it's congealed to last for ages well the cornish pasty needs no introduction does it i mean this is how you eat meat in pastry this is this is how you combine the two man i love a cornish pasty minced beef with potato onion and swede go on oh but i do want a bit of that pork pie hmm yeah it's a great ball pie oh yeah it's good i mean it definitely tastes more fatty than a pasty hmm brings a tear to my eye oh no i'm sorry i just you can see it it's like close your eyes close your eyes i don't feel it oh delicious it's a lot better than i thought it was going to be really mm-hmm i mean i do really like this i'm not gonna lie it is it's got a lot going on onion meat potato i think in there as well how do you guys have pasties if greg's is northern greg's is not the past the main pasty chain yeah but they they do the best ones so i i'm i would like to clean past these bats it's to be a cornish pasta no take it away it's not great it's not greg's i don't want it but i would rate this really highly i actually think i probably prefer the cornish plastic to the pork pie i go completely the other way this is actually the first time i've ever tried a pork pie i won't be having another i mean never say never and my dad would absolutely kill me because he is a huge fan of pork pies especially at christmas but not for me i'm sorry i feel like i've actually took quite a personal dig before i knew you i thought you i thought you were all right i'm sorry oh no this is going to be really ramping up with it right there's never i've got some peas put in it's made in liverpool looks like it's made from liverpool do you not care about updating anything just standard um there's actually a little ditty or rhyme to go with this bee's pudding hot peas pudding cold peas pudding in a pot nine days old so all day you would normally have it just on a piece of bread with some ham which is what you've got right that that's that's the standard combo this is what this is how you eat it it doesn't look good i hate it it looks absolutely disgusting well you're going to have some traditional piccoli and what is the pickle so pickle you know traditional picnic food picnic snack it's kind of like a like a chutney slash pickle okay usually with a mixture of vegetables so there's always cauliflower like gherkins you had it before no no no i haven't you ever had this so this is interesting because we've actually had these things i really want to have this i don't want to do this swab sorry man i don't want this thing you know it looks like i'm not going to like it i mean i i've got to say i do love this packaging i'm apprehensive oh that's good no no not at all you're wincing two days of old peas spread sort of piece of bread there's some average i'm no seasoning it's absolutely i'm just eating beige nothing oh no that is amazing like pea spread no i could eat no oh what else right i'm not gonna lie i was absolutely right yeah don't sugarcoat it i'm not going to sugarcoat it because that was terrible it was terrible just didn't work for your palette it's fine no i'm over i was pretty scathing about the pork pie so i'll take that one on the chin my view has changed you know i come in here i thought it's going to be really greasy i thought it's just gonna be quite stodgy really enjoyed the eccles cake that was a pleasant surprise and the peas pudding yeah i mean i'm what brand is this she's gonna say that i actually think i might i really really liked it scones are undefeated i will always give you a scone yeah peace pudding absolutely gross there's no way i'll ever have that again i don't think that was ever going to be a winner if you're having pick a lily it's that you like put an entire allotment in there apparently but the beauty of living in this day and age is that we don't have to pick we can have anything we want yeah north south divide you know nigeria have you had like american cereal before none of it a lot of sugar brightly colored maybe blue i feel like there'll be some kind of blue cornflake situation i don't know colorful chemicals i have never tried anything but i have walked down like the breakfast cereal aisle yeah and there are so many there's like too many options it's ridiculous i assume british breakfast cereals have way less sugar subtle and like mature like a grown up cereal um a little more subdued and healthy and i actually i put biscuits in my cereal biscuits or like cookies oh so you're throwing cookies in your cereal and then you're coming at us saying that ours is going to be too sugary this is one of my all-time favorites from childhood and adulthood these are fruity pebbles these are this is a polarizing cereal because um they can get soggy real quick i don't even know what to say like the flintstones are on it i mean it's it's iconic just based on flintstones growing up you grew up on the flintstones because isn't one of the characters called pebble uh yeah i think the the daughter is pebbles and then the sun is bam bam so she's the namesake of fruity pebbles i've got some nice sensible special k original it's really good for you it's got so many good things in it and it makes you stronger oh you want to compare the stats yeah okay let's get the stats out on this these are better than that and if you disagree you're wrong so happy trading yeah well yeah enjoy it smells so weird it smells like um i don't know what does it smell like where's mine like sherbet okay yeah so so go go easy with the milk the milk balls are so big do you guys have different milk cartons it's just not as robux this is the small one this is a half gallon and only by a gallon size wow wow learn a lot today i thought the color would come off into the milk oh it will yeah that that milk's turning pink real soft yeah what color will it turn [Music] oh my god what does it taste like um skittles definitely it tastes like skittles with milk i'll eat my nursing home breakfast what what [Music] what it's just so artificial it doesn't taste like fruit i don't know that i like it yeah it's not good this is okay don't you gotta stop saying it's not good it's special okay this tastes like uh this tastes like i'm being responsible like um like i'm on a real kick for two weeks to like eat clean or something then you go back to eating fruity pebbles nothing wrong with it but it's certainly no no pebbles man it kind of just tastes like like wheat there's not really a whole lot of flavor there's not like a lot going on [Music] i got lucky charms okay i'm excited now this definitely grow them on theirs did you really yeah it's the marshmallows these are lucky charms these are um you know if there's a mount rushmore of american cereal this would be on there it's not my it's not my favorites i like lucky charms but it's not one of my favorites i've got crave this is actually quite a recent um creation you know like nutella yeah it's basically like little little crunchy pillows filled with nutella stop it um this is about to be good i'm curious to try that this piece has like a weird mouth and it's just sucking up the nutella with a straw well the advertisement campaign is this is really weird because um i think it's like a situation where they eat each other and they must be delicious i'm excited for this these are very these are these look fantastic how much are yours now yeah oh wow [Laughter] so at first there was nothing and then the chocolate came the outside has a very distinct flavor that i don't think i love what does that taste like it kind of tastes like a cat treat the chocolate inside of this right here is so good okay but with the milk game changer [Music] would you say you like that better than this yeah yeah [Music] they're nice actually they're not bad yeah they're pretty good but they're your favorite that's my favorite yeah but i've noticed even okay this is like a fish shape there's a there's an x there's a clover there's what looks like a computer cursor which it probably oh no it's a bell like a liberty bell oh i'm keeping it as much sorry guys this is captain crunch which uh have you had cap'n crunch oh boy this is sugar incarnate uh it's delicious uh but it's very sweet and it will cake to your teeth and scratch the roof of your mouth like this is like the standard captain crunch and then there's like a peanut butter one i think there's one that's got like little like berries in it but look this one has so many games on the back so i've got shredded wheat which is i think quite a british classic um they're kind of pillowy so shredded we shredded wheat there are a couple of varieties there's like the little ones which kind of a regular kind of cereal size and then there's what i think this is yup you'll just you'll see all right well um these could not be two more different cereals enjoy you actually will i mean that's it's very sweet but it's it's delightful you really want oh yeah i'm aware this is like a really really healthy version what the hell it's like a burrito what the [ __ ] is this they're like in little burrito wrappers i love this i'm so excited i'm gonna take like one of these in my pocket and just like be like snacking on it throughout the day um okay this is great this is my favorite one so far it's sort of like yeah it's kind of like golden nuggets it's kind of like sugar puffs it's getting stuck in my teeth it tastes a lot like golden nuggets but i actually think gold nuggets are better nuggets no uh this tastes like i'm eating an old curtain i don't love it i mean it's not again it's not gross it's just it's not necessarily gross it just tastes like you're eating a soggy cardboard box which now that i say it sounds pretty gross oh this is what i'm supposed to do well no it's like a bird's nest it tastes like a bird's nest i've got weetabix which i think is probably like the british cereal huh like this is so just running like everyone will have this in their cupboards so first things first landscape box oh whoa that's different okay how'd you feel about that i like the brandon it's disruptive i got cheerios yeah cheerios i think is like the uh like like most common american cereal but it also comes in like all these different varieties i have had cheerios we have those apple cinnamon cheerios no i we were in target yesterday actually and i saw pumpkin spice cheerios okay like because whatever nowadays i guess all right swaparooski oh this box is cool um you know like an apple pie you get from mcdonald's yeah it looks a bit like a sausage roll it smells like that yeah i think i think usually we have two i think usually british people would have two in a bowl two of these bricks no no this isn't the whole thing you gotta open that oh okay all right all i don't love right it's worth the milk oh there's worse than that [Music] that's pretty good too i like like i was i was initially like i'm not gonna like that but like the texture is is very pleasant yeah so yeah this is amazing it tastes like i'm curiously cinnamon formerly known as cinnamon grahams which here is called cinnamon toast crunch yeah ours is just you drop it in the bowl and you pour milk and it's like quick hurry eat it you have to you have to go to school i have to be like nate you have to put it in soak it leave it no you put the cereal in you put the milk in you go for a two mile jog you come back you do your taxes you take a shower you check on the cereal you throw it in the microwave uh yeah the apple cinnamon cheerios are definitely my new favorite okay that was amazing how's it going yeah nice i can't imagine children eating that before school and then going to school and concentrating the american cereals all day every day hands down usa i don't want to pick him up do it you got to do it yeah american one sorry england the american cereals about it let's do this the american ceos are totally but i mean look at them i'm looking at them now on this back table it's like you've got you've got it you've got a captain with eyebrows on his hat you've got the the uk and i'm here today to prove that marmite once and for all is superior to vegemite i have strong feelings on that there is no way that marmite is better than vegemite anyone from australia just knows it remembers it from being a kid and loves it and thinks marmite is really great what are these mites okay first of all i don't know what the sex drive is second of all why are they black is it black is that just the jar no it's pretty much that color it's a very very dark brown in your breakfast look this is marmite like that they're different and they're both exactly the same they both say yeah kind of similar okay is it sweet no no no they're both it's soft oh you're in that you've got really got no idea do you i don't know how i got ripped into this and i'm here why are you i wasn't that excited but now i'm actually curious taste the difference it's you'll notice quite gloopy oh my god it looks like chocolate and nutella it's not though that's the thing it's like it gets lighter it's shiny did you spread it oh it's real shiny i put quite a lot on i know i was like that is a lot yeah that's a lot i like i like a lot but i'd say like like like that much how much would you put on it's probably not that much less but it's just kind of more evenly distributed yeah i won't i won't argue that i think she did a better job of yeah distributing the product come on oh wow okay look at that [Music] you see toast yeah it kind of oh it it smells a little bit like old pub it's just missing that that like like 40 years of smoking inside cigarette smell with it np cheers oh my god i told you you put too much on you went in whoa that's different that's a way different texture is so different but it is so dark it's really really dark neither of these seem like fun things for like a parent to have to make their kid for school like it's like a workout to get these things spread evenly i'm not making this hey that's a good technique see she learns she does cheers mates cheers she'll be right [Music] yeah it's totally different it's totally different i i do think there's definitely more flavor i think the marmite is a lot more just kind of like salt hello hello salt and nuts would this just be like cultural whoa oh my god do it no i hear oh he's got mugs mugs he's got mugs drink it spread it or even cook cooking oh my god it's it's really dark it's way darker than vegemite who like a prison you give this to a prisoner for like punishment [Music] [Music] it tastes like beef jerky the idea was absolutely disgusting yeah it didn't smell great of all three i would have this i actually would yeah [Music] it's like a it's like a soup no i feel like i'm so gross for saying that i like it it's like drinking soup no the idea is way more gross than what it actually is like it's fine it's actually fun [Music] but you think you'd like bob roll more than like vegemite and yeah god damn it yeah i mean i still neither would be my option none of them would be my real choice but if i had to choose one i would just pop rule great well yo i'm so glad we came and wasted our time convincing i think that if marmite and vegemite and bobrow belonged in the u.s they would have made their way there by now so i think they can stay where they are [Music]
