what's going on YouTube had a lot of interest in the camouflage paint job that have on some of my geared weapons so because I got this new ar-15 upper that I'm getting ready to paint figured I'd do a video on it and show you guys how I do it there's plenty videos out there on how to paint weapons there's probably better ways of doing this but this is just the way I do it keep it to cheap and simple so a few things that you're going to need for the the way I paint my weapons in here but I just go to Walmart and get some Kryolan spray paint and I use three basic colors OD green khaki and brown I kind of do somewhat of a multicam type paint job that way I can use the weapon in the springtime in the winter and it's still you know has some sort of relative camouflage for that time of year so don't thing you're in need go to either Walmart or a craft store and get stencil paper and what you do is you just take a black sharpie make some your regular shapes that you want and then you cut them out with a you know a razor blade or whatnot or scissors the last thing you're going to need just get a sniper veil and pretty much we're using this for the little grids here we're just going to spray on it that's what makes the little grid squares on the camouflage paint job all right first thing you do is obviously you're going to tape up anything you don't want painted so anything that's going to be inside the the weapon once I connect this to the lower receiver went ahead and taped up with masking tape and I wanted to make sure you want to make sure that the front sight post is taped off and the end of the barrel so other than that everything else can be painted I really don't personally care to have these markings on there so you know I'm just going to paint over those doesn't that doesn't bother me but if you want to you know have those markings on there all I got to do is just put some masking tape over it and you can paint over it first thing I'm going to do give it a tan khaki base all right so I'm going to let that side dry and then I'll come back in about 10-15 minutes flip it over and do the other side so it's been about 10-15 minutes so I'm just going to turn this over alright the next step of this process is going to be the green now don't forget make sure you turn this several times and look at every angle and whatnot make sure you got it completely covered in know your tan base all right so we're going to do this we're going to take our shapes just lay it on her that's probably all I'm gonna do for this side I'm going to go away let it sit for about 10-15 minutes and then come back and do the other side all right in about 10-15 minutes the other side now it's pretty good another 10 to 15 all right now once we got our bigger green shapes down next stage is going to take our sniper veil okay just going to lay it over the part that you're painting all right that's where the round comes in right now for this it's going to be combination of the last stage and the sniper veil so we'll snap prevail over take our template throw it over all right lift up you kind of get an idea where you're sitting like obviously I'd miss some areas down here so I'll just hit those on a another pass that's it for the upper so as you can see I got the pattern is complete ready to slap the sucker on to the wrist of the weapon I'm going to leave ya masking tape on for a little while longer so I know it's a complete now as far as a spring any type of protectant on this you know I don't even worry about it this is a is my AR and I've had this sucker for about four years now when I originally painted it and as you can see you know the paint job is held up and I've put this thing through the wringer so you know the wear and tear that you're going to get on the paint job is basically mainly going to be here at the for drip or you know for handguard or on your buttstock where your cheek weld is but other net you know a little wear a little wear on the paint job and a big deal whatsoever and you know your ultimate goal is concealment anyways it's not an art project so as you can see it's that's pretty much it we slapping this on here shortly I'll give a give it some few hours to you know make sure it's 100% dry and whatnot but uh that's it this final product that's how you paint this particular pattern or you know weapons so I hope that's helpful for any of you that are wanting to do this as far as gears concern I'll bring out a chest rig here in a second and talk about that a little bit but this is how you do the weapon alright last thing I'm going to talk about is gear so you want to paint your gear just do something that will help break up that line a little bit same principles as on the weapon use these same stencils material really soaked up with spray paints you might have to go over it several times let's say YouTube and conclude my video on painting your rifle and gear if you got any questions feel free to post them in the comment section I'll do my best to get back to you thanks for watching don't forget to leave comment
