[Music] it's hard to explain to anyone who doesn't know all that much about cricket and there are lots of people in Ireland who know absolutely nothing about cricket there were a lot of people start a World Cup who didn't even know our land played cricket or had a quick a-team you've got a team which is by and large made up of amateur players you've got Kenny Carroll who's a postman you've got Kyle McAllen who's a teacher you've got Trent Johnson who was a fabric salesman and you've got Boyd Rankin who's the farmer is his primary job they'll give me a little bit of an idea of how much of an enormous Moulton the claim was facing this Irish team the headlines on Newstalk British Prime Minister Tony Blair issues an ultimatum to the leaders on both sides of Northern Ireland's stalled peace process and in Sporting News the Irish cricket team who've recently qualified for the World Cup get a send-off from President Mary McAleese on their way into the Caribbean all this and more at the top of the hour well my first encounter with Ireland was 1995 and I haven't played for Carl cria club up in Kimmage I met Vanessa in 96 we got married in 98 we've been living here ever since in the warm up to the World Cup it didn't go really that well for them they lost to Scotland Kenya South Africa and they lost to Holland so it wasn't ideal preparation going into it absolute pleasure to be able to host you here before you head off the Western these girls are hard for you [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] Arland we're struggling alone and then all of a sudden they appointed this little-known south african coach eddie burro he started to do things he started to make things happen and by the time to work up came around a t-bird had been in the job for five years or for a lot of repairs going out there they wanted it she was much too good for him because they knew what was his last hurrah escort of the Argentine I knew very little about Ireland itself and the cricket I knew there was a north/south thing and I knew it was sort of along religious lines and apart from that very very little so I had to start from from scratch really had a phone call from the coach Eddie Burrell and had a coffee with him and he said I'd the plan of qualifying for the World Cup and that we were gonna go places that are nice and foreign and sunny so it was definitely job we wanted to get involved in it'll be very easy to deliver Ryan at the sort of riches that everybody else had compared to this you know what we luck we were there and it was our one shot and we were very very tight as a team we've grown up over the last year three years as a team together we knew every little bit about everybody we got on so well we were so close net okay he can argue that we had lack of resources and we didn't have the analysts and we didn't have the fitness instructors and the team doctors and whatever it might be that other teams did have but we made up very much for that in terms of you know we we made the most of our limited resources yeah that's what's all byte Series cricket P Ireland were in Group D in the World Cup and in that group there was three first last test paying nations you had Zimbabwe you had West Indies hosts and you had Pakistan one of the favorites to win the whole thing outright so not only worried up against the top teams they also had to deal with the baggage of being in the first World Cup and get over all the nerves and then try and somehow perform I was obviously important to get a good night's sleep which is quite difficult heading into the biggest game in your life and you know the world stage what we've worked so hard for [Music] that first morning going on the proper stadium proper warm-up facilities and knowing that the eyes of the world were on you've phenomenal the guys are very apprehensive very nervous this was something that we had dear ourselves the words really for the cups of five years Andre Lieberman who stole had no idea how many fans had me in the truck we had thrown numbers about between ourselves you know there's one thousand two thousand five hundred and we just didn't know how much noise they were all gonna make and again I get into the stadium and seeing everyone else that'd me and the trip over was just fantastic and really started to tangle and this was that Irish support in just a couple of days away from st. Patrick's Day ready to go now and take on good catch [Applause] [Music] [Applause] Segen burro really doing a good job here island in trouble he talked Ole Miss judgment the excitement and the sort of level of nervous girl tears I'm not there and we've put pressure on ourselves to win and I don't think Tris be told we cooked very well with that [Music] and somebody's going to run out of there good correctly unfortunate way to go but he has to go we lost a couple of early wickets but Jeremy hung around and got a fantastic hundred and that was a phenomenal achievement [Applause] first appearance in the we are under pressure the whole way through and he held the whole innings together you know making 115 not after I think it was you know was a fantastic effort the four students kind of went past we might seem like 15 seconds because there was wickets falling and the excitement the music the ground was electric that day and then the second innings was just a complete reversal because it seemed like it lasted for about ten hours smashing drive through the offside is a good player Oh agent for unlucky trade-hit will this be taken out for a boundary what a costly miss it is in barbarians battle and they padded really well open to the stage where they more or less had to gain more edged again again and right through his legs what is happening out there I'm not so good around the players you know it's not a good it's not good for the coach to be so nervous he's meant to be the calm one eres coach yeah never that's why I'm in the change I mean not to the boys well we needed a bit of luck and we got a bit of that luck when Kyle bowled a ball and he went to field and deflected off his finger and onto the stumps and that sort of turned the wheel again in our way and he sort of picked ourselves out and got some momentum [Applause] as we say to see let's get a wicket there was just a couple and we are not losing a schema cricket down the wicked and the cried were gone my he could say that this involvement or panicking I thought we were [Music] it's just me as I'm rollercoaster shred tomorrow extra things they're getting tense for the Sambhav ins we never stopped believing we never stopped fighting even at one stage when it was dead and buried we're robbing a home that we weren't giving up we're gonna fight as I am it was really fantastic attitude by everybody where is it going that one Oh God every in and I just spoke about belief and what we talked about the night before was you know that these guys can crumble this is a world cup we're never gonna be here again so we've got to take it you know it's if we lose a game now and no one expects us to win it but if we can come back and win this game everyone's going to be looking at a sister you know this is a fantastic achievement for a bunch of amateurs basic [Applause] [Music] the tension in the ground was incredible some of the last balls or ball a number of Trent Johnson went to catch the second last ball as well getting very very difficult chance to dive backwards in the air and actually hearty shoulder and just couldn't hold on to us then that water up to actually besides being level so there was one ball left in Ireland somehow had to take the wicked our stuff as a beverage and scoring the one they cannot lose no Zimbabwe scores died nine wicked stone remember last delivery one run to win [Music] sighs ding - [Applause] and dry your tears love you having lost [Applause] all authority in World Cup history it was just euphoria you know I think for us to get a toy from the position that we had been in was as good as it went it felt as if we won the match even though it was only a jobs in factory else it was a moral victory because we have come from being dead and buried but the fight in the heart that we showed exemplified everything that we had been working towards we went into the teens room so it was you could just see what a man theity barrel um you just see what a man petit barrel and you could see the you look around the room and again which was incredible there was a fantastic effort there was a huge amount of belief if we could still do it even when we were sort of almost done and half day at one stage and gives us one bite because we beat Pakistan we got through it come Saturday we're not the favorite to be the underdogs and we can go in and express ourselves freely and that's that's how I like things and that's how things we will find a basement okay so I think we missing [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] just Google you here as 274 articles about Irish British the Australian Zimbabwe fields plot of the Irish CNN news 24 South Africa Zim and Ireland tie and trailer their Sydney Morning Herald Irish skipper dazed after World Cup tie so that's the picture that's on the front page of Irish Times this morning I think we caused a bit of a stir it's been great the coverage that's been gadding has been great and and they've basically been saying people who don't watch Gregor that's now sitting them I've been sitting in in pubs or whatever watching the games and I've been totally enjoying us so it's great to know [Applause] a lot of support background text message emails phone calls coming through from all over the world friends in Australia South Africa so you know I think everyone was really proud and hopefully we go and put to good to more good performance in whether they be without losses but just to good competitive perform so we're here who I compete Melfi could do that tomorrow next week you had Ireland facing into a game against Pakistan or were by far the strongest team in their group but the thing about Ireland is if they manage somehow pull off the win here you have the unforeseen scenario incredible scenario unbelievable scenario that they would qualify for the super 8 stage of the tournament which really wasn't done anyone's radar at the start we were gonna against a team that was very much fancy to win the tournament let alone win the grip they had lost to the West Indies if they lost to us they were out the World Cup and we had absolutely nothing to lose when I saw the pitch I was shocked because it was green and that just played into our hands we Irish players play on green wickets and they're not too many green wickets in Pakistan after winning the toss it was just an air but you know our whole camp that there was an opportunity here that we could exploit it's a real banana skin type fixture for us but we are aware of what we have to do I never forget when we walked out in the field there was a group of Pakistani supporters to the right hand side and they were giving us all sorts of chip you know the Irish you should be back in the pub and should be drinking Guinness celebrating some Patrick stayed and played cricket and all that you just see the guys sort of grow that extra half an inch legs driving the board [Applause] whenever we got there for anyone so you could just save them the belief again on the cried we're starting to go and we cashed in bullying you know very well [Applause] yes Pakistan rocking here now fielding was outstanding I think all the caches were taken we were driving around stopping balls left right and center that's God again we need to talk again yes [Applause] he's hit that but there's a man on the red its ste playing he's gone that's the end of the innings Pakistan have been dismissed by Ireland for 132 on Zim Patrick's Day it was quite tricky at halftime suddenly the nerves kick in we can win I gave my normal talk of playing tight and compact and episode of my attacked trained had a different sort of approach now we've got to change the gunner suit right we have got a massive chance to stay in the West Indies project for four weeks and see how much we want to stay here I promise it's gonna be tough out I do like to make a few speeches every now and again and I don't sort of gets their full attention but I think for 30 seconds there I had their full attention he looked around the room and he said do you want to be back in Dublin on Monday morning at 6 o'clock in the morning delivering post do you want to be back tha this time next week do you want to be back in the office and Monday morning one way back on the fire length he do you want to be sitting on the m50 and I said to him I said as sure as hell I don't want to go back and and sell fabric get at their score these ruins and basically we're gonna be heroes they need to get 133 to win this group D match lovely Drive yes yes my date like it's done struggling along here desperately desperately need wickets we knew they were going to come at us and come out us pretty hard because I knew if they lost his game there were couples over [Applause] mr. cars put in Pakistan right back in this game [Music] we did have a wobble we lost a couple of quick buckets but now LeBron was having one of the most fantastic ends as I've ever witnessed [Music] 52 wine magnificent innings under pressure how well is play passionate you've got the team [Applause] that's it [Applause] we can see what that means to the team [Applause] I wonder what is going through the mind of Bob Wilma right now he's a worried man [Music] guns than the captain is on strike we'll need try to be the hero to get these ones in one blow [Music] historic pictures [Applause] great try for the support today back in there [Applause] I was just saying that they have their behavior that's actually hard to put into words some hi that's me well that it's gone I mean in fact I normally can't put anything into words but I've had a few beers so I'm not stuttering I'm slurring but what I'd like to say is come on Island [Applause] the singing was just fantastic and you know the guys can sing and I say we'd be the world champion team at their [Music] come on [Music] we're going to have [Applause] it was just fantastic you know after it's and and it didn't die down you know you didn't sort of come back to it for a long long time you know you were on the side that was just amazing and you kept on thinking is it real [Applause] [Music] [Applause] the reaction in Pakistan was always going to be bad whenever Pakistan lose they turn on their players and the management very very quickly and they have public demonstrations and they burn effigies in the streets and they were calling for Bob Woolmer hate calling for him to be killed and they were calling for all the Pakistani players to be arrested immediately so that's the sort of reaction that was waiting Bob Woolmer and Pakistani players when they got home we're sorry that we performed like we have we didn't mean to do it however you know when we get back reception wise and I doubt it'll be very good I know a half of the Pakistani coach had been found unconscious in his hotel room and have been taken to hospital who was in ICU and our reporter Ravi Arwen joins us now by phone from Jamaica Robbie Pakistan's cricket coach has been found unconscious what more can you tell us now in the last few moments Angus there are unconfirmed reports - that Bob Roma the Pakistan coach has died in hospital in Kingston have been informed and we deepest condolences to family credible news just broken in the last couple of minutes so we're waiting from our shields from the Jamaican stag ready to fill us in what situation is we expect the press conference any minute there is now sufficient information to continue a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death mr. wall which we are now treating as suspicious [Music] you know obviously the press conference breaking last night and now treating the death as suspicious you know it's sort of quite chilling because you know he's any sort of three or three or four dollars down from when us on this level I just told him that the lastly so the game was over a bit sex wasn't and Bella Tatum the presentations everybody was a word was required Atari past sessions and they just shook hands with me and wished us all the best return and he went Ezra and we went oh well I just took a run up to the fifth floor and to Pakistan players got into the lit wit me to go down to the lobby and one of the cups accompanied with him so what appear that the Pakistani players now have protection there's no area of the hotel that was safe place to go apart from your own room lock the doors and just stayed in there no one really knows what's going on things are changing here at the moment moment by moment so we're playing it by ear here the moment I realize are having a meeting and I have come down to associate what's really happening here but seems to be pure pandemonium here and I'm not sure everybody knows what's happening [Music] 20 minutes for Jamaica Portia system Miller I understand is I think she's addressing the team they were waiting out here for the press conference there's some why why the rumors going around about suspected foul play discipline animus is the craziest craziest thing I've ever come across in Jersey the pathologist's report states that mr. Wilma's death was due to asphyxia as a result of manual strangulation in these circumstances the matter of mr. wilmuth death is no been treated by the Jamaica police as a case of murder unbelievable that you know things keep on coming out and it's pretty hard to focus on the job at hand and then the terrible news and you know we're just really shocked the tournament was going to be cancelled at once did and then your kind of thing and everything that we have done we have worked for this for our whole laser pregnant careers I'm it's gonna be cut short you're in charge of the players movements to a certain degree what's going to be the plan now there was a question as to whether Pakistan would be playing any more games and it would they play their game against a beber which is our final game and it was a very important game for Ireland because we needed Pakistan prepare the game and we needed them to win to make sure we were just quite the stir and it was out of your hands you couldn't do anything about it wasn't like playing a match it just was out of our hands and very very difficult to deal with you know from being where we were to what we were looking at it it was sort of again felt like someone had sort of ripped your heart out you know nearly being in the Super eight stew sort of you know being back at our jobs it was pretty sort of devastating it's now 10:00 to midnight were in the hotel to see what decision the ICC come up with they're making a decision as to whether the game would be played or not tomorrow if it's the Pakistan Zimbabwe game which has two significance for Ireland even if there is again it does go ahead you'd have to say the Pakistani players will be no state decorators tomorrow the ICC has confirmed that the Group D match between Pakistan and Zimbabwe in the ICC Cricket World Cup scheduled for Sabina Park Jamaica on Wednesday will go ahead just here at the hotel before heading off to training all things are looking good Pakistan and smoking has involving bowlers everywhere which is exactly what we want to happen all looking good for us together the super 8 but we riding across the fingers yet to the Downs over the new bolos Mohammad youssuf was only a fur ball one ball in audio cricket it's looking good so far for Ireland of the sporting football news just come to the hotel in the last few minutes that former chairman of the Irish quick continuum of care has passed away and where all the Irish fans were staying it's a kind of cloud over the storm it is incredible stuff really you can it's hard to put his loss in the context sometimes because a lot of people who started say well here we was Bob care he gave me the job of being the Irish national coach so it was very very sad news you know to to hear he'd gone there is still a group of people that have the wrong Irish cricket and don't get paid to do it and Bob was one of them and he's greatly missed we had a big appointment with the West Indies last game in Jamaica and to hear that news was you know just another nail in our coffin you know it was sort of hard to keep carrying these burdens around with us you know good people being lost to the world so now we wore to armbands that day you know it was a tough day [Music] and so 48 hours goal island end up with 183 for it I stayed up late at night I think it must be a three o'clock and a my wife come down the stairs you watch a cricket yeah so why should I don't play cricket against the West Indies and she just crashed her head and played together here Pakistan beat Zimbabwe and now that beaten Ireland nothing to be ashamed of than their first World Cup and they get through to the super AIDS do you want do you want to say it do it president do you want to say hello to the guys everyone's around okay I've had three phone calls from really stations in Australia they couldn't believe that as I pointed out to the rest of the managers in the super it once they know their three will probably be ringing hotels airports and whatnot to make arrangements whereas I'm spending my time bringing employers and Ireland Osen can they give their guys time off another month to play cricket I mean the strains couldn't believe that this scenario would happen you know few guys obviously had to make a few emergency phone cards to the bars as to what's happening can I have the time after your mind if I stay and play and the World Club kind of thing I just had a phone home and asked him to get more four weeks like just spent again or four weeks away from afar well at that time the user bellarmin and there was a fair that acts to work normandy hitter Shaffer do at 24-hour chef of that stage and so David I'm a self-taught 12 hour chefs rather three hitters yesterday to 12 so we're covered okay no the push either by Charlie might just tell you I must have another the Sheep someone lamb them so I was like you know for you oh yeah I seen my boss he was dressed up no leprechauns - after the Pakistani and my basically just had a quiet word Nazir and said I think I might be needing another few weeks off although bosses were fantastic and you know I think you know three or four I'm actually out there at the time so you know I definitely didn't have any issues with this continuing on for the next four weeks we had this whole plan that you know after the group stages we had sit off as a family I'd say goodbye to the team and Irish cricket to not set off on holiday and then into a new chapter of my life and but out the window into family holiday we are getting on the bus because the gang of the super 8 but beyond all belief we're goin to the super rates but we're off to go Diana and then Barbados and then somewhere else it doesn't matter at the moment but because but weird to just pretty live in the dream [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] we pick up the celebrity [Music] [Applause] if we thought we were up against the playing the West Indies are playing Pakistan then you can forget about it when you're talking what separates you've got Australia best team in the world you've Sri Lanka you've got England you've got New Zealand all teams playing at their very best it was an enormous challenge the other thing to remember water is if Ireland somehow managed to win one of these games beat one of these top nations then the prize was that they would be given one day international status they'd go up on the rankings and they're no longer be looked on as were lesser lights one of the weaker teams so that's what they were facing heading into the super eights it wasn't going to be easy it was quite daunting of what was ahead of us can we give a good account of ourselves in the next phase you heard the story of their choice which was just an incredible kind of ironic story for Irish cricket Edie Joyce born and bred Irishman he was an extravagant alloted Batman the best we've ever produced in this country put between Ireland qualifying for the World Cup and the World Cup actually happening he'd been drafted into the English squad no many people out there Michael how could he leave Ireland after he has to qualify for a World Cup but if you were good at this and you want to be at the top level you have to play for England because you can only get so far playing for Ireland this was going to be one of the stories of the game the prodigal son of Irish cricket playing against Ireland in the World Cup he was playing against his own countrymen he knew everyone on that squad he'd grown up playing cricket with them all his life the teams they loved and team he'd have qualified for each one it was such a strange situation to be in just postman across the wait lane and he's won an England shirt we were in an Ireland shirt that's it's politicians when he comes out with that shirt on and he's not your team you try and get stuck in Liam you trying on nerve him if you can psychologically Boyd ranking open the polling wedge choices get to leader he's left it the off stumps left him out the ground really special to sort of get him on the very first ball like against England yeah that's probably one of the ones I'll never figure Joyce he's on his way he's gone for him you know we were delighted to see the backbone because he's obviously quality player you know a key and England game was again we should have could have one big shot panis ours in the deep it might be over his head it is has it gone all the way yes it has we had a realistic chance of winning you know we had them up until the last 10 overs there you go amazing smiling now smiling 14 minutes ago and that was a massive disappointment and then we played South Africa no no they just kept throwing at us and we just didn't have enough time that put runs on the board well that's finished now an emphatic way to finish it off you know that was hugely disappointing and again the New Zealand game was the same thing we kept into the last 10 overs and then we lost it again it's a yoga flirts bald dismissal it's all over Ireland balled out for 134 scary stuff and when you sit back and think about it but you know what we achieved in those first three games that team stood up and noticed that you know we were a pretty good side but it's very difficult when you're an amateur because this is all new territory for all of us police in Jamaica investigating the murder of the Pakistan cricket coach Bob Woolmer say he may have been killed by someone known to him I had an R and a quarter interview with the local constabulary they wanted to know all about Bob Woolmer and had a madam last and mother spoke to him of item quite often to the scene and - oh my [Music] Radia xiii mother's signature day that was a game as worried about we'd come under a lot of criticism that my team shouldn't be in the World Cup and I think getting into the super AIDS is particularly satisfying to prove those critics wrong but we also needed to continue proving the critics wrong and this was a massive match worse [Applause] and as the Nick accepted beautifully by Matthew Hayden all I brought at first ball for duck all and in all sorts oh there [Music] with and gone and brilliantly done at point doc [Music] that should be out and is out at the inside edge this is a route here where we feared some day this the Australians absolutely ruthless in this tournament [Music] well done very well to reach here but they're not in the same class by any means it is almost like a practice match with him in the English you know was not very satisfying for me [Music] today we have been met by the police and they've taken us away and they have fingerprinted every player and mommy's would DNA swabs taken from inside our minds and we had to give a statement which lasted waited an hour each so we will find that maybe find the funny side of it was another twist in Ireland's Cricket World Cup so here's to show you again I promise you mom it wasn't me I didn't do it [Music] this is where they'll make something of themself I received an invite from the first lady of Guyana to help her out when I leaving to go to hostel let's see rums where she brings children and her living on the street just try and make them feel that they're in the right place and the best place for we really appreciate you coming I know you're tired after practicing in our hot Sun here today traditionally in Guyana it's a family occasion they don't really have families who can look after them so we thought like to bring you here to meet them you could encourage them [Applause] [Music] Oh first lady's given you a second chance here I know looking at today and what you've got around to you now you're very lucky to have this second chance and the big thing would be to stick it out get a good education and move on in life and do something good for yourself so thanks for having us today kids we're not leaving to go to hospital for sick children what actually happened was she took 30 kids who need to heart operations to you I'm there unfortunately the bowl was $66,000 she give 30,000 she's trying to raise the other 36,000 as soon as the players heard this of course that touched their heart from the players and the management have committed and we have actually a surprise I'm go for know she has no clue what's going to happen but sometimes you're in the afternoon will make the presentation here [Music] come on as we're playing in our games the World Cup especially against the major things right here people call the stars and not stars they're just guys enjoy playing tricking people like your stars on behalf of the team the team of coffee gala that given a small delay see 258 to help in your work today finally the Northern Ireland peace process came to fruition with the restoration of power sharing here at strongman's this time between the DUP and shin Fame after decades of violence more than 3,000 dead Northern Ireland's political leaders have come together to govern Northern Ireland jointly we were really really really pleased near the guns and the violence was going to be put away and you know we could look forward to a brighter future then I know like it said were Protestants and Catholics have bled together it's a big day to say that hopefully that we are gonna become more understanding of one another as opposed to being so debate it and it can only be good for the future in Northern Ireland all being well I think what people are going to what was today is not hype for history [Music] folks so far something in the air keep the ship a good shot he was 17,000 people that biggest crowd that all of us have played in front of him [Music] [Applause] we didn't want to be seen to be one-hit wonders or or one win wonder in my five years that match was our most complete match gun for the big shot strike them men [Music] the 150 [Music] Frank and I'm but he really gonna win it [Applause] [Music] you know lanky color and bold the best I've seen in bowling in 12 months Oh God there was just a a cop dilemma this was gonna be our day [Applause] [Music] [Applause] we let them down against Australia but I think they've got the money's with against Bangladesh and that was quite satisfied [Applause] [Music] [Applause] right for the common supportive and the tears and the celebration will continue long into the night the Irish stream continues in the second test plane nation have pulled into the Irish the lap of honour with tiara girl and on your cakes in your family your friends although supporters could get so much money with their to support it it's just incredible we now were world ranked side and that was immensely satisfying for me very happy put the chili in well behind us and we're now officially won there the gnostics did us beat Bangladesh our nice seventh in the world according to the world Top Billing so sure what the hell I know I was feeling I was mentally cooked I was absolutely just wasted we had lost so much against Australia and then we'd had given so much to achieve what we did against Bangladesh but you had to get up because it was a DS last game and but it was just it was just very very difficult yeah I know like that he's a very emotional man so I've like brought her mother please along for after the game be because he will start to cry we all know he's a pretty emotional guy and there's no way you would have been able to deliver that last team speech without bursting into tears and having 18 other men in the room crying as well so you know he wrote out his speech and handed it out to the guys individually and left the room so he sat there and read his last team talk which was pretty sort of touching in itself and I was emotional and and you know we had pictures with the guys you know individually before the match he's salt-of-the-earth he's just a great man and he's a people's person but as big as attribute is that he treats everybody with respect and that doesn't matter who you are or where you're from the only games that we didn't really compete in with Australian honest really matters and they went on to compete contest the final short through the field through the point Rajon for four rounds dominant performance by sri lanka just quickly I just like to think Adrian barrel who's our coach he's finishing up today it's not the send-off we'd like to give him but from all the boys I appreciate the effort and especially for Irish cricket Union followers and people we thank him very much for what he's done for us and you know he's been a huge servant so this Thanks eighty-three cheers the barrel [Applause] what's on let me know it in you in as this end off [Applause] [Music] [Applause] I draw against a bad way shucks defeat by Ireland to Pakistan on the icing on the cake beating Bangladesh to ensure that Ireland joined cricket's elite it was like a real-life fairy tale come true so will you welcome please the Irish cricket team [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] well they rate back here from the work open metal sea and Paisley and myself and the long gallery and Parliament Bolton say it was an absolutely fantastic evening and there was you know a great sense of unity amongst all of us you know you had your politicians there shaking hands and getting fired eyes and there was a great time for politicians can get down to work I work together and we teach nine schools about the need they understand cultural diversity and if you can understand you might not agree but so long as you can understand differences and and everybody's makeup and get almost one another you know let's hope that our politicians can work as successfully as the cricketers did in the World Cup the time to kill at a time to heal a time to break down and a time to build up a time to get and a time to lose a time to keep and a time to cast away a time to love and a time to hint a time of war and a time of peace [Music] we had experienced a journey of a lifetime but they'd given me the the greatest going-away present in any coach could ever wish for the fact was that there were amateurs in a professional game really there were the outsiders but they just had that age to make things happen in the tournament and that was it we celebrated together we cried together we laugh together we lived
