Bombay Sapphire Cocktail - Bombay Negroni

legend has it that sometime around 1920 account Negroni walked into an Italian bar and asked for his americano served with gin instead of club soda whether or not that is true the Negroni has become synonymous with aperitif cocktails it's only a simple drink with three ingredients making it ideal for home entertaining in my mixing glass we're going to start by adding a measure of sweet French vermouth this will add to the aromatic flavours of the cocktail next an equal amount of Italian bitter liqueur this provides a dry twinning flavor similar to tonic water and lastly an equal amount of Bombay Sapphire giving strength and body to the whole drink and it combines the dry flavors with the sweeter herbal notes I'm going to stir the mixture briefly over ice to chill it before straining into an ice-filled rocks glass or tumbler now it's worth mentioning at this point no matter how tempted you may be to play with the measurements equal parts of all three are essential to maintain the balance and there's a final finishing touch we need an orange twist to give a fresh aroma that weights the nose up I'm going to twist the zest over the drink to get as much of the orange oils as possible the Bombay Negroni you
