Bodgery Barn: Testing the Harbor Freight crossbeam dent puller

on this episode of bawdry barn will going to be testing out this crossbar dent repair kit against this dent the package says and no need for painter fellers I'm not too sure how realistic that is but hopefully it'll get the dent shallower so we'll need less bondo to fill it in or it might take one big dent and turn it into three little dents but this thing is only sixteen dollars give it a try so it works you'll have learned a good cheap way to repair dents if it doesn't you're going to see me make an idiot of myself on camera either way directions are pretty sparse it just says glue the pull-tab into place pull out the dent and use the included release agent let's have a look in the box got us a glue gun hey hmm this glue gun looks like it's already got some glue on it this package was ripped to open hmm I think I wasn't the first one to buy this thing in fact you'll notice there's already a stick of glue in this thing yeah this is not exactly new there's two different things you can stick to the car as you can see whoever bought and returned this thing has tried to use both of them I'm going to try using the smaller one for this dent let's see if I can get the glue off of it it goes yeah I'm using a butter knife well it looks like this is going to provide an early test of whether that release agent works okay it looks like this is just acetone worth noting okay let's see if we can glue this to the car just pulled out it gotta leave this thing on there for a while before I try anything else okay while we're waiting for that to set I'll just have a look at this hot glue gun it's a very basic unit I don't know if anything special about the glue there's no on/off switch just a trigger the tip is partly insulated looks like your typical cheap hot glue gun which is about what I would have expected well the glue set pretty quickly so let's try getting this crossbeam on it I'm gonna shoot from another angle to see if I can show it pulling better Hey here goes and yep it's pulled right off get absolutely nothing nothing I can see at least see I pull this off does this just pull off what are the odds okay I'll need to get a release agent on it see if it releases it [Music] another Papa doesn't do too much damage to paint okay well at least the release agents one thing that's worked and done its job properly we'll try gluing this on with a thinner layer of glue and try again so while I have the glue gun warming up I've noticed another feature here there's a big crack right here in one of the two feet on the crossbeam okay so we're going to try the bigger and now unless I've scraped a lot of the glue off of it trying to get a lot more glue area in here we're going to try running around the edge of it a little bit an extra be the round thought okay I've given it way more time to cool using a lot more glue this doesn't work then nothing will your goes that's doing something it's something I think this is going to actually our mentors are just going to spring back once I'm done yeah it's almost completely yep I do kind of have it pulled out a little yeah you can see the dense shapes a little different now okay we're going to try so I'm going to try pulling at it at the other low spots on it now let's see what happens okay I'm going to try using the smaller puller on it again big blob of glue and I'll give it plenty of time to cool okay let's try this again the big power okay let's hope I let this thing cool enough what just happened there I break something no it doesn't look like anything's broken at least seriously Wow we just broke this thing into so Harbor Freight switch the stool out for a new one no questions asked okay the enemy's up bags that have not been opened and a set of directions which weren't in the one that had been returned see if I missed anything [Music] okay let's try this again [Music] yes Wow okay this is over - and the not broken Department last try attend an event it didn't move the tent a little okay get this and out a little bit ya didn't pull this out a little bit so we've made a dent in the dent but we've broken two of these dent puller tools and the job isn't finished and without the larger polar it doesn't look like it's going to be able to get that the rest of the dent out but at least we've got less to fill in with mando but I wouldn't really recommend using this tool
