BMW 1 Series Old vs New - M140i vs M135i - Quarter Mile DRAG RACE, Rolling Sprint & Brake Test!

hello I'm Oliver from this loco today we're going to be comparing two BMWs on their performance over a core mile spring just a rolling race and a brake test I'm sitting in the m135i a sting has a two liter four-cylinder engine turbocharged it's got 306 brake horsepower and 450 Newton me as a talk I've drafted in my good buddy Tom aka tge TV he's sitting in the M 140 next to me okay Tommy talk to me about how do I look in this car then in this M 135 at the moment firstly you're supposed to say over we're on walkie-talkies we need to make this professional so that's your first error and secondly you look like a Wally over folk down here sorry about the echo talk call me blue night police over I absolutely won't be calling you that over well about these cars then what's the big differences well I have got six cylinders you've got four my car's gonna make a nice noise because it's a three litre six cylinder and yours is a 2-liter four-cylinder so you're gonna sound terrible and it's gonna be slower over ah yes but in this new m1 35 I've got the all-wheel xDrive system and a limited slip differential in the front axle and it's wet on this runway so I think I have the upper hand heart over I beg to differ nothing else other than let's just see who wins over okay nice okay well just one little thing which one's got the best front grille because I know there's been a bit of controversy over these exterior elements personally I think your one looks silly over thank you for that okay it's all subjective I actually like both really but that's a little bit of a lame answer right let's get down to this core miles sprint because this tracks drying up and I want the win over let's do it over now both of these BMWs are completely stock however motek have had side skirts and bumpers etc but nothing has been done to the engine [Music] you've got a few modes in this car you've got the sport which I'm in obviously because I'm racing we've got the comfort and the Eco Pro now that Eco Pro Mode is good because if you're on a long journey it's not going to wake up the turbo as much giving you maximum miles to the gallon and I'm hoping that the limited slip differential on the front axle and the all-wheel-drive is gonna help me with my traction get a better start against that in 140 because it is not the driest day-to-day CY [Music] that's a good start NASA cats on the way first he's got you me we stole his toys come on would you he's catching up [Music] so let's see the instant replay the m1 35.2 better start the m1 40 seemed to struggle with traction at the start this could be down to it being a rear-wheel drive the more torque in the mid-range seemed to pull the Amman 40 back into the race when it came to the finish line both cars looked neck-and-neck but it was the m1 40 that claimed the victory crossing the line in 13 point 6 seconds with the m135i only a bonnet lengths behind now we're going to do the rolling race now in this we're simulating a racing environment we're going to be going 50 miles per hours side by side until we hit the target line and whatever gear we're in we're gonna flatten the pedal and see which one pulls off first and higher [Music] [Music] much more now he's pulling away he's about one column from front to column 140 just unbelievable I mean it's got 15 you and me as a talk more than this car fireman Janu means a talk and when we hit that line going 50 miles per hour he just took off like a rocket and there was no whales catching him that's definitely a win on the rolling races for the m14 now we're doing the brake test we're going to be side by side doing 17 miles per hour and then we're going to do an emergency brake as soon as we hit that target line and see which car stops first team on our side-by-side sit side by side if I think actually you stop before me I won that round we'll have that so that car weighing 1450 kilograms stop quicker than this car which is 15 25 kilograms what can I say the lighter more agile car won the day and the better driver obviously over so there you have it we have battled through some serious elements today the Sun rain even a rainbow at one point there was quite a nice essentially now the majority of the time on the sprints and the rolling race the M 140 just absolutely dominate I could not keep up with you but a couple of races on the court more sprint this baby m 135 actually won to be honest with you I put it down I'm coming up with excuses now April it down to the wet weather you have a pure incompetence on my side so my starts were shocking they're probably already having a go then some of my starts was shocking so that's probably what gave you there yeah sorry it's a sorts of this track I know I thought you in there yeah my race it the racing blood in my jeans but yeah I mean this one the brake test as well stop first rolling race was ridiculous yeah mid-range in that cars just much better but there you go but if you do
