hey everybody welcome to my channel wendy devro here i am going to make a gold mini tile framed painting today and if you'd like to see how i did it then please keep watching okay we're just going to get right into this video and as i'm using uh my items i will point them out to you and i will leave a complete list in the description box below we're going to be doing um dark blue and gold today and the first thing that i want to do is i just want to make a little bit of a pattern on my canvas here and i know that i want the gold up top and the blue down on the bottom and i think i'm gonna want my gold to stop somewhere around there this is just so that i know when to start wiggling down okay so i'm going to [Music] just something like that okay and i am using deco art bright metallic gold um you can get this at craft stores i ended up getting this at home depot this past summer because i um i was painting a high boy and i wanted some gold in it and it is an expensive paint i think i paid something like 25 dollars or 20 dollars for this but it does go a long way because it's such a good paint it's very thick you can use a different gold um so long as it goes with the glitter that you're putting on because there's so many variations of golds right so i'm just going to lightly mist my canvas with water and my brush this is just painting it right on you guys there's no pattern to this or anything we are going to put a second coat after this dries we're going to use the craft smart navy blue and this craftsmart midnight blue there's just a small small difference in the color of these two and that's what i want i don't want for this particular painting you guys i don't want the stark streaks i do want um it fairly solid looking i'm just gonna let my brush a little bit here i need more paint i'm going to find that i am probably going to have to come over this with a second coat as well you guys because it such dark color okay our first coat is dry now i'm just going to go ahead and add my second coat of gold on here okay i'm going to keep that bold handy because we are going to add a little bit into the blue part here and then i'm going to go along the the wiggly line i pulled out another navy blue so this is the acrylic navy blue you guys i'm going to add a little bit of that on here and then again with my navy blue craft smart there's a little bit of a subtle difference between the the um the brands of the same colors then i'm going to put a little of the midnight blue on again kind of just alternating not necessarily putting it but so that it's balanced so you have if you're going to put some over here you know put some in the middle part as well and my brush is still damp so this is not um like the other blending technique you guys that i that i do i'm going to call this a soft blend i i don't know what you would call it but because i don't want the hard streaks this i want the paint um blended together more yeah you can just see um you can see some subtle blending in there i don't want to pick it up because it's a little wet now i'm going to take a little bit of gold out here so i don't want to contaminate the rest of the jar and i am going to take just a little flat brush here and i want a little bit of now my frame is going to come out to about there but i'm going to start because i want it blended nice and soft come on a little bit over here in this corner see how far that see how far that's going to come out oh perfect that's exactly what i want now what you want to do is we want a little bit of gold or a little bit of blue to go up into the gold here this is where the crushed glass and glitter is going to go and i kind of want a little bit of the blue to go up in there okay now i'm just going to add a little bit of the gold i don't want you guys i don't like this right here because what's happening is it almost is turning green on me or maybe that's just the lighting uh once the paint was dry i went ahead and i put a coat of satin finish mod podge on um just the blue part i didn't want it to take i'm not 100 sure if it'll take all of the sheen away from the metallic but i didn't want to take a chance so now we're going to be using the gold mini tiles from dollarama and for this size canvas which is a 16 by 20 all depending on the size of canvas you use will determine um the length of your the strips of your mini tiles right so i don't measure i just went along and did this just for accuracy because just in case the canvas isn't quite 100 straight but what i do want you guys is the length of my canvas i want the the tiles to come down to the ends and then the ones in the center will be like this okay what you want to do first are your sides you want to do your sides because then if there's a lip there will be a little bit of a lip and then your front tiles will cover that okay and we are going to glue these down and i must say you guys i have never done anything like this on one of my paintings but i thought well it might look kind of neat with the gold tiles right so because i'm not using a hot glue gun either i don't want i don't want to cover the whole part of the mini tile i want some of the stickiness in it so that the tackiness of the tiles will at least grab on to the canvas while it's drying otherwise and i'm not too sure if this would happen but it might slide on you so i'm just going to put a little bead down the center like so just spread it out a little bit and then just leave some leave some of that adhesive from the tiles exposed okay i'm just gonna go ahead and finish [Music] putting the tiles around the edge and then i will bring you back i found it was easier when i was doing the sides um to just add a little bit of glue to the to the canvas instead instead of the um back of the tile okay guys here's our frame that looks really really pretty i'm uh pretty happy with that and what i had to do just um on the top because the the front ones were overlapping a little bit i just glued on a second thickness of the tiles and it's still not perfect but you know what it's on top and it's hardly even noticeable so let's put on some crushed glass and glitter i'm not too sure if i'm going to i might use a little bit of blue you guys we have the gold crushed glass it's ashlynn brand from michaels and i'm going to be using the chunky glitter from recollections the fine extra fine gold glitter recollections from michaels and if i do decide it's just going to be this dollar store blue what i think i might do i have i have a little bit of the gold left from my um black and gold books and i think i'm just gonna add just gonna add a little bit of the blue in there i just i don't want a lot of blue glitter because there's so because the painting has mostly blue like the the lion share so i'm thinking maybe just a few little little sparklies like that of the blue i think will be perfect okay you guys can bring in nice and close for this and i am using my try art liquid gloss and i'm just going to go and follow my line i want to stay away from those um tiles the mini tiles and we're going to use a sponge brush and we're gonna do icicles today and i do do want to get them down into my painting a little bit more than usual just because this is a different technique and it's not as busy [Music] as my other paintings make sure you keep your icicles nice and straight you guys and you just want to go do little shards in between your bicycles okay i don't have enough blue glitter in there i'm just going to add just a little bit i'm i'm up really high with this shaker you guys so that when it comes out it doesn't come out in a big clump on me oh that looks so pretty okay now i i don't want a lot of glitter or crushed glass because i really really like the way that that painting is looking um underneath and and also with the um with the frame i don't want to get too carried away with the with the shine i say that now but i just i keep adding it okay i'm not going to shake this out of the jar i'm going to put it on free hand like this so that i can kind of control how it comes out a little bit better i don't want those big pieces in there i want either to be more delicate looking okay i'm gonna put a little more chunky on here i do want to cover the um i want i do want to cover all of the peaks so that um when it dries i don't have a shiny icicle there without anything on it from the from the liquid glass and i'm finding that i need more blue not a lot and mainly just down the center okay you guys let's brush this off so i just made a little bit of a ridge here so that i can brush the crushed glass and glitter off without it getting hung up on my mini tiles and even if it did that's okay because i'm going to use my soft brush on my vacuum cleaner and vacuum it off anyway [Applause] [Applause] hmm oh i think i'm gonna like the mini tiles around here they do look like a frame something different different look right of course you can do it without putting the mini tiles around it as well okay guys here's the finished look i am really really pleased the way this turned out i wasn't too sure at the beginning about doing the gold mini tiles uh to minute to mimic a frame but you know what oh you guys it is so so pretty i don't know if you can cat if i'm capturing that in the video but and look at that i love just the little bit of the blue just enough blue um glitter in there oh and look at that look at that gold mini tiles i'm really really pleased oh it's beautiful you guys and you just know i'm gonna have to do something with the um the clear mini tiles they actually look silver oh wow you guys this is really really pretty the thing that you just need to be careful of is to make sure that um when you're applying your mini tiles to make sure that they're nice and straight look at this side of it that is just so neat it is kind of hard to get away from not having a gap there in the corner but that's okay oh you guys jeez i hope you try this it is very very very pretty oh if you enjoyed the video please give it a thumbs up it'll really help my channel don't
