hey everybody welcome to today's video I will be showing you the difference between blue mechanical switches red mechanical switches and brown mechanical switches privileged enough to have all three in front of me I've tried all of them and I just wanted to show you guys the difference and hopefully maybe be able to save you money so you don't have to buy all three like me and try all of them out so the three keyboards I'll be using today is a magic Eagle Havok keyboard that this is kind of outdated but this one has blue do temmie switches so for those who are picky these aren't actually Cherry MX switches and then the other two keyboards are cords air strafe and one of them has Ritz which is one of them has brown switches alright so the first one we're going to start with is the blue mechanical switch I feel like a lot of people get this for their first mechanical keyboard just because it's popular and it's really clicky and some people like that some people don't but I also feel like these are easier to get a hold of almost because they're so popular it seems like it's easier to get a cheap blue switch mechanical keyboard than brown or red or whatever so I've been using this blue switch for a few years here and I really like it honestly the only downside I could see is that it's loud and that only matters if you're around other people for me I have a baby and sometimes like if I'm in the next room to her and I'm typing on this it will wake her up but it's kind of hard to tell through the camera how loud the keystrokes are in person but instead of me just banging my fingers let me actually type something here so you kind of see what it sounds like so it's really nice I like that you hear audio click like you could tell there's no doubt when that registered because all of these mechanical switches I think they have like a four millimeter travel distance and they all register they actuate at I believe half of that distance so this will click before you get all the way down I like this because it makes it click I don't know somehow it helps my brain know that I actually hit that key when I'm typing and then also not only that but you could physically feel right when that click happens and that really helps me when I'm pushing down here to let me know not only with my ear but with my finger that I pushed that button far enough and I could move on to the next one but yeah these blue switches feel great I really like them I don't think you can go wrong with them again unless you're trying to be quiet and I'll come back to this let me just go over the other keyboards and then I'll kind of compare them all together at the end so again this next one I have here actually has official red Cherry MX switches and to me these always sounded cool online I thought I would prefer these number two to the blues since I was trying to get a quieter keyboard it definitely feels better than a membrane keyboard but it's not my favorite that's just my personal opinion but let me tell you why so I tried this one for a few weeks it is a great option if you just trying to get a mechanical keyboard but it's again it's hard to tell through the camera but it sounds like this so it's definitely quieter than the blue switch over here and the feel is very different on this one on this one's described as linear it's just like you're pushing on a spring there's no there's no physical click that noise you're hearing is just the key hitting the bottom and also there's no like physical click either I don't I don't feel where the where it actuates where the key registers so basically on these people usually just smash them all the way down and that's fine but I kind of feel after getting used to this one on here I feel like I don't know if the key registered if I don't push it down all the way and because that I feel like my hands just get a little more fatigued when I use the red switches but again you know that's something you can try for yourself so the next one I went on to try was the brown switch keyboards so let me swap that one out alright so again this one has official Cherry MX brown switches and this is my new second favorite obviously the Blues are my favorite the only downside is that they're loud but these comparing them to the Reds there's a real subtle small difference when you're typing they feel just slightly different but over time I really like how these feel so here's a sample of how they sound they are quieter than the Blues they're really comparable to the Reds I feel like usually the spacebar is the loudest key on the whole thing and on mine the spacebar is quieter but I don't know if that's just mine or not so here's what they sound like so these are supposed to be tactical that's how they describe them and I thought it would be like the blue where not only I hear the click but I could feel the click I thought maybe this is just a quiet version where I could feel the click and it is there but it is very slight it is not is not as a heart of a click as the Blues are how it physically feels on your finger but there is a little tiny click there and at first I thought well this doesn't feel that different from the Reds over time my hands feel less fatigued on here and I feel I feel like the brown and the Blues they really like boost your confidence that you didn't make a mistake or they they make me type faster because I'm confident I'm hitting what I need to hit so overall the Browns are my new favorite the Blues are good old trusty favorite they're just loud but again just a quick comparison here's how the Blues sound here's how the red sounds and the brown if I would have to explain like what this is compared to in volume this would be like just talking talking out loud volume the Reds and be like like talking softly you know like this but still be able to hear and then of course if you have a membrane keyboard it's like almost hard to make a noise with the membrane keyboard so overall I feel like if you do decide to buy a mechanical keyboard it is gonna feel better than any membrane keyboard out there I haven't tried those like mechanical membrane hybrids but I feel better on your hands you don't feel as fatigued and it sounds funny like oh I'm so tired when I'm typing usually you don't think but when you get one of these and then you go back to membrane you feel like you're doing a workout on your hands but I feel like any of these would be a great option for a mechanical keyboard in my personal opinion I feel like I would steer away from the Reds and now to either get the browns or the blues I personally just really like something about that that feedback that lets me know that that key actually registered and not not like the Reds where I have to push all the way down every time on these you know I tend to push down all the way but sometimes if I if I get a light touch and I don't get down all the way I can feel it and I can tell and keep going on also on another note I feel it's real easy to find the blue switch keyboards just because they're so popular there's more of them out there on the market and it's easier to find cheap ones if you want that and it seems like it's harder to get a hold of Brown switch or a red switch keyboard so that's that's something else to keep in mind so I hope this video helped you guys out hopefully it helps you decide what keyboard to get if you aren't able to test all of them in a store or something like that please be sure to leave a like if this video did help you out and if you have any questions feel free to comment I'm usually pretty good about getting back with your comments and that's it see you guys in the next video
