remorse it all started when James and Ashley zolomon gave birth to a little boy named hunter in Central City Hunter then 11 years old saw his father assaulting his mother and demanding respect after serving in the war of the Americas when he went downstairs Ashley urged Hunter to go after spotting him but James grabbed him and pulled him in front of Ashley handing Hunter the solar helmet while making him watch as his father killed his mother James was soon imprisoned and Hunter was then placed in an orphanage because none of his relatives wanted to adopt him when he was older Hunter started working on a method to purify heavy water without residual radiation under the pretense that he was a scientist with a sizable solo business who specialized in chemistry and physics Hunter did show scientific aptitude as he was the one who developed the velocity serums since seeing his mother killed Hunter acquired a bloodlust that led to his becoming a serial killer after being apprehended at last Hunter was found guilty on 23 counts of murder and committed to the Saint Perez mental hospital for the criminally insane Hunter however was impacted while receiving daily electroshock therapy and covered his face with a mask that stopped him from speaking or using his speed at this point he made the decision to pose as a hero in order to offer the populace false hope he adopted the name and Alter Ego of the Speedster Jay Garrick and cleaned up Hunter adopted a new identity and began acting as a superhero under the name the flash he defended Central City as flash against several other meta-human criminals including as Adam Smasher sand demon and Dr Light in addition he got a statue constructed in his honor for his work as flash Hunter quickly discovered that time wraiths terrifying reality was erased to a future where ayobard wasn't supposed to exist and was therefore a paradoxical threat the speed force sent the black flash to track out the reverse flash the Demonic Speedster began to track and pursue ayobard furiously across time outpacing him right away however ayobard was able to construct an alarm that would sound anytime black flash came nearby allowing ayobar to just about unrun it but preventing him from standing still for an extended period of time eventually in 1927 black flash detected ayobard's presence but the Renegade speeds took off before he could locate companions escaped knowing black flash wouldn't stay in prison for long eventually the black flash carried on looking for the reverse flash before his Masters abruptly ordered him back to the speed force during this time Barry had gone into the speed force in an effort to save Wally West Wally attempted to escape but the speed force forbade it and sent the black flash to battle The Flash who was helping Wally throughout the speed force vision of Star Labs the Demonic Speedster brutally combated flash flash immediately detected the undead Speedster and made an elevator escaped attempt flash was thrown back out before black flash could catch him pitting flash to the ground the speed force agent instructed flash on how to save Wally and issued a final command at which point black flash started sapping Barry of his life force understanding this flash took off the chest Insignia and slammed it upon black Flash's chest briefly banishing him in a burst of white light you can never really banish death and the black flash came back to continue his search for the reverse flash after his altercation with Barry Ray Palmer was able to divert airbar long enough for black flash to come close enough for ayobard's watch to detect him when ayobard escaped from the wave Rider's Brig and was ready to go look for the fourth component of the Spear of Destiny Albert had no time to search for the fragment and escaped before black flash arrived ayobard probably tried to restore his paradoxical condition when a group of time-traveling super villains was able to get the Spear of Destiny and modify reality itself but this effort was in vain because black flash continued to exist in the syndicate's new reality then black flash was locked up in a secret cell inside the cortex of Star Labs ayobard was confident that despite black Flash's constant attempts to escape he would ultimately give up eventually Sarah Lance used the Spear of Destiny to counteract its own abilities erasing the syndicate's other reality and inadvertently freeing black flash from captivity black flash then sped to ayobard's position in 1916. ayobard had abandoned the early warning system in the parallel universe due to his conceit which prevented him from realizing black flash was nearby until it was too late reverse flash tried to flee as he watched in horror as the black-clad spectral Speedster appeared on the horizon the black flash outran him grabbed ayobard by the throat and viciously faded his hand through his chest completely destroying his Target's heart and expunging ayobard along with his time remnants completely from existence after momentarily stopping in front of Sarah to Roar in her face black flash sped off having successfully carried out the speed Force's command later the speed force sends the black flash after savitar who fails to assassinate Iris West in 2017 creating a paradoxical future in which savitar never existed black flash moved fast to eliminate the Erin time Remnant from existence because he was determined to stop savitar from splicing himself across time and preventing his Erasure from the timeline to help halt the enormous Speedster killer frost was brought by savitar because he was aware of black flash killer frost attacked black flash as soon as he emerged from the speed force but he was able to effortlessly avoid the strikes killer frost sent a second icy blast black flash as he rushed for savitar while speeding toward the two freezing and shattering the monster Speedster but is he really dead can you even kill death that remains to be seen post this in the new Multiverse zoom's meta-human gang appeared to have acquired their abilities from a singularity in the earth Prime timeline as opposed to being an alien and Invasion Army than a Time wraith he was now reduced to mindlessly pursuing rogue's beasters like ayobard only able to identify them by detecting the most recent application of speed force and appearing to be blind without it though highly hostile Hunter's metamorphosis into black flash also robbed him of his anti-social Tendencies he now has the little interest in anyone who isn't his Target rendering him ultimately harmless to everyone else the first major Comic Book appearance explored in the flash number 138 from June 1998 the black flash made his very first appearance on the final page of the the only solution is to contain him they start hatching a plan on how to trap the terrifying entity so that they can lock him up and then deal with him properly suddenly taking all the responsibility on his own shoulders Wally goes all the way to end of time where death has no meaning and the black flash does exactly what Wally expected him to do and that is to follow him the black Flash races behind Wally thinking Wally would outrun him they whiz past continents and oceans and then start running through time 50 years turns into 800 million years as flash approaches the end of time with death breathing down his neck while the black flash comfortably keeps up pace with Wally the moment he reaches the end of time he loses all of his strength and vanishes completely since well at the End of Time death has no meaning and black flash is literally the personification of death in order to save Linda Wally then puts his life in danger Once More by re-entering the speed force however in true flash fashion he emerges from the speed force unscathed with Linda in his arms brought title style all's well that ends well the black flash was shown as an extremely terrifying and ominous presence in this comic book and that Persona has stuck with him in all of his appearances post this one a brief appearance in legends of tomorrow in live-action TV shows set in the arrowverse there is a rather interesting variation of the black flash according to the storyline in order to repair the present timeline and eliminate ayobard Thon otherwise known as reverse flash who was mistakenly brought back into existence by Barry Allen's construction of the flashpoint timeline the black flash follows him throughout the second season of Legends of tomorrow he is a constant ominous presence tailing Thon in hopes of catching him and eliminating him due to this Thon decides to create the Legion of Doom and seek out the Spear of Destiny in a last-ditch effort to alter reality and save himself from his impending death at the hands of black flash in a positive turn of events Thon successfully executes his plans traps the black flash in STAR labs and holds him there however it does not end well for poor Thon as Sarah Lance undoes all his hard work and releases the black flash allowing the latter to delete thawn from existence before re-entering the speed force having completed his mission his presence in this season was like a large looming shadow of death and perfectly encapsulated the Persona of the black flash what makes him so powerful the black flash has a whole arsenal of powers and abilities that make him such a formidable enemy and opponent one of his most important Powers is the death touch simply put his death touch power allows him to kill any Speedster by simply touching them and phasing his hands into their chest he is not called the Grim Reaper of the speedsters for no reason after all being the herald of death for the speedsters he has the ability to sense the speed force in another Speedster system and thus is able to track them down he has always seen having a blue aura emanating from him whether he is running using super speed or standing still this was a result of him overusing the velocity drug as shown in the arrowverse TV series electricity manipulation is also one of his abilities via which he can control electricity simply by touching it like grabbing lightning Yes you heard me right literally grabbing lightning like it was an actual tangible object this character is definitely one of a kind he also had the power to physically kill humans deplete their life force and bring about their cellular deterioration he can also take in the speed force energy he injects himself with which will give him additional power he has an augmented mind which is one of his more intriguing gifts black flash has a very quick mind which enables him to digest information much more quickly than a typical person with his physical
