Bishop Theodore L. Brooks - God Did This

[Music] just before we have the preaching of the word of the Lord we're going to have a sermonic solo that's coming from a very good friend of this ministry who's been here on several occasions an outstanding singer-songwriter minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ he is none other than the renowned Douglas Miller and so that we could have a seamless transition and a segue from his ministry in song to the preaching of the word of the Lord I'm going to first read and introduce our presiding bishop and if you would follow along it's in your programs we have edited that and he's a humble man and he asked me not to read this but this is our presiding bishop of the Pentecostal and he brothers and sisters is traveling all over the country and all over the world and we pray that God would continue to give him strength and give him sustenance in order to keep the Honorable Bishop Theodore L Brooks serves as the senior pastor of Beulah Heights first Pentecostal church in New Haven Connecticut with his partner in life and in ministry first lady L Janice Brooks Bishop Brooks is also the presiding bishop of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the world incorporate the BMW and diocesan of the 20th Episcopal District of the Council of Connecticut and the Pentecostal Assemblies of the world Brooke is the president CEO of Beulah land development corporation founded in 1994 to create revitalized communities of choice in otherwise distressed neighborhoods via affordable housing development and job opportunities here Brooks also currently serves on numerous boards for many organizations in Connecticut including the Yale New Haven Health System trustee board the Albertus Magnus college trustees board the connect Connecticut Center for Arts and Technology Board of Directors the Community Advisory Board of Southern Connecticut State University and Senator Chris Murphy the Advisory Council he is also a member of the American Association of Christian counselors and International Association of Christian clinical counselors in August of 2018 Bishop Theodore L Brooks senior was elected the presiding bishop of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the world he serves as the executive bishops Council and serves on it as the board of bishops and has served as diocesan of the 20th Episcopal District the Connecticut District Council since 2008 prior to his appointment over the Connecticut District Council bishop and lady Brooks and labor to develop a work in the country of Brazil for the Pentecostal Assemblies of the world for over 10 years they served as spiritual leaders for over 100 churches throughout that country Bishop Brooks has authored several books including complete in God the apostolic challenge in the Lions Den a servants call and a call to integrity a call to Christian character challenges of the 21st century Church as well as eschatology and what's next for the world and a servants manual released in the summer of 2017 serving by his side is First Lady L Janice Brooks a powerhouse woman of Prayer anointing and wisdom on April the 30th 2016 Bishop and first lady Brooks celebrated a monumental 50 years of marriage somebody ought to give God praise for that through their sacred union Bishop and first lady Brooks were blessed with three sons and nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren Bishop Theodore Brooks is an anointed man of God he is a powerful preacher and teacher of the word of God bishop Brooks is a man of Prayer and is committed to the spiritual development of God's people and spreading the gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to the entire world ladies and gentlemen brothers and sisters it is my esteemed privilege and honor right after the sermonic solo that will be sung by our guests Douglas Miller I want you as he comes to stand on your feet once he comes to minister the word of the Lord and give God praise for this anointed servant of God I had the privilege of him coming all the way to England as part of my council to Minister the Word of God and as the old saying goes he reckons the church brother Douglas Miller let's give God a praise for him the Lord everybody praise the Lord to the bus' Ida Bishop Brooks and to my friends there's a brightly into all the saints of God my God sister sister dan woods it's just good to be in the house of the Lord I've had some been having some problems with my back and went to the doctor some weeks ago and he gave me something and it made it worse and so I go this Thursday to have six injections in my back but I'm going believe in God man I started to call sister Jan this week and tell her that I just couldn't come come my pain in my back was but I came this one because I wanted to let the devil know he ain't gonna shut me down unknowable baby I'll shut up sometimes you just got to let the devil know you need scared in here for when I think of the goodness of Jesus I say it one more time when I think of the goodness of Jesus somebody still didn't chain that when I think not of the goods but of the goodness sometime we can only praise Him when we get the new car in the new house then I woke up this morning and knew to put my right shoe on my right foot I'm talking about the goodness of Jesus but if it I heard a little praise in my spirit before I worship always giving in listener mercies I shall were the nearly I worship the Lamb of God he's always giving in this mercies hallelujah daily on show on Monday and Tuesday daily I said on Wednesday and Thursday then I shall on Friday and Saturday daily I said through the good times and the bad times [Music] sweet Jesus sweet Jesus he's the lily of the valley he's the bright and Morning Star sweet sweet gee Jesus he is the God of every nation openness openness openness Oh bless His name how many of you have ever been through a storm coming y'all ever been through a stone how many y'all in the storm right now ain't nothing wrong with being in a storm as long as you know that Jesus is in the strong with him as I said ten times you just got to let the devil know you ain't scared of him but as long as you know that your soul is anchored in the Lord I don't mind going through the storm as long as I gotta anchor though the stones keep all raging in my life and sometimes it's hard to tell the night from day still that a hope that lies within is reassure as I keep my eyes upon the distance oh I know he lead me safely to that blessed place he has repaired [Music] but if the stars don't cease and if the Wiis keep on blowing my life has been [Music] I realize that sometimes in this life we're gonna be tossed by the way then the careless sometimes may seem so fierce but in the world I've got an anchor and he keeps me steadfast and I move back we shall not discuss that but we go back with that's great for the Lord please be seated in the name of the Lord I remember Bishop Brantley way back when I was working with then elder Wagoner residues the president and we were all on the team and look where God has bought us look where God has bought us God has been kind and gracious and we're so thankful on to the Lord aren't you lady Ledford god bless you my sister I take not lightly my being asked to come somewhere and I just sometime wonder why and then I ask God what is the assignment what does he want me to do how does he want me to do it and I'm grateful what stated that I have someone behind me who's always praying for me and I'm grateful for my girlfriend 54 years well it'd be 54 years next year put your hands together again for Lady Jaye and brother Rob will always make sure that I'm on target and has everything for me I thank God for them we've been running this past month and when got a call from my friend who said you got to come I see girl ain't got time almost to breathe how can I don't know how I can do that she said Bishop and so here we are your master is a a remarkable man one-one I'm not a flatterer I don't flatter anybody if I got something nice to say about you I'll say it to you brother white a good to see you man been a long time I'll say it straight to you if I can't say it T I just shut up if you come in but outfit on and dress or suit that I think it's stupid and their births the saying who you look nice and I don't say nothing you know I'm not gonna lie to you that was a stupid that you put on that day you know but we go back a long way very long way and I was just sitting there thinking about when I'm seeing here what I'm feeling here and what God is doing and when I became presiding bishop the Lord had me to look around across the organization for people who I could place around me that would be a help to me because I see I'm I'm straight up you know I'm I know I'm not the brightest bulb in the room but I'm not the dim is either and I know that I can't do this thing by myself so I don't want to run everything I'm gonna be like the mayor was to share handle it handle it handle it just leave me alone go ahead and do it and when I came to the administration committee I know the skill sets because I remember very well as we came along as young men his capacity and his ability and so I went to him and asked him would he serve as my a chair of the administration committee and on he's doing a great job and he knows this and I've said it to him again I'm not a flatterer I'm just straight up I think that he has a great future and that administration administrative chair is just the beginning of God placing him in places that will lead this organization even greater and higher that is my prayer that is my prayer that is my prayer that God would do great things for I shall not try to trouble you long I have to leave here tomorrow and on Tuesday I'm on a plane going to Chicago Thursday I'm going to Baltimore I forgot where I was going and then I come home I've missed three Sundays Jan I'm history Sundays you got man history Sundays at home I said I sent a video today asking for their indulgence no Saints you know I'm on him I'm unassign it I'm on assignment to do what God would have me to do for the Pentecostal Assemblies of the world not that somebody else couldn't do it but God chose me he knows I'm crazy enough not to worry about what you think about me and what you say about me I really don't care if you like me I just want to do what God would have me to do and I know if I do that and if you're really saved and you got to join in with the program and do some things a man somebody now looked at your theme and I looked at what you have and I want to I want to go from there this morning if you will for a few moments so let's look at psalms 118 and then I want you to turn to Matthew 21 I'm 42 we submit for the word of God if we all can then stand together it sounds 1:18 beginning at verse 19 it says open to me the gates of righteousness I will go into them and I will praise the Lord this gate of the Lord into which the righteous shall enter I will praise thee but I has heard me and I'll become my salvation the stone which the builders infuse has become the headstone to the corner everybody's safe with me this is the Lord's doing it is marvelous in our eyes Matthew 21 and 42 now Jesus picks it up jesus said unto them did she never read in the scripture the stone which the builders rejected the same has become the head of the corner again let's say together this is the Lord's doing it is marvelous in our eyes now I want you to look at two or three people and tell them God did this oh come on you don't act like Mike I did that and hit my lip and my teeth and I ain't doing that I would in my younger days climb over the pews but I can't I'm too old now and to get my legs up to do that so but ain't no telling what will happen when the Lord gets to moving in there you see because you had understand I'm not here you're not here just because you look so good but you're here because God did this it was God that brought you through it was God that brought challenge before before we get this shouting a little bit let me just say a few words and and get out your way I looked at this 118 Psalms and a couple different variations of how they thought that it came about some thought that David now begins to talk about this because of the fact that he has gathered all the tribes together another one said that it was when they bought thee the two the children of Israel that people began to just allow them to see that God is on their side I've been trying to figure about why I'm here because again I take it not lightly that God has put me in this space but I'm very conscious of the fact that God could use anybody if he can use a donkey to speak to a wayward prophet and none of us ought to get our heads so big and think that we become we've arrived because God can use anybody that it wants when he wants and how he wants but I think about this that David now begins to say to the people of God the things that God has done for them and so he starts it off and he says oh praise the Lord all ye nations praise Him o ye people for his merciful kindness is great towards us see if the truth be really told every one of us in here oh god I praise every one of us in here a man oh god I worship every one of us in here a man need to step back for a moment and look what God has done for us look where God has brought us from look how God is keeping us even in spite of our crazy self see some of us know good and well if it wasn't for the Lord we don't know where we would be but because of the mercies of God and the goodness of God here we are now in the land of the living in God's house lifting up the name of the Lord and giving God praise and magnifying God and worshiping God and giving God the glory because had it not been someone said for the Lord who was on my side where would I be but thanks be to God was giving me the victory I wonder is there anybody in here that has the victory today amen just shout out hallelujah my god so David here TV begins to just tell them it's a it's a praise the praise to God it's it's time to stop sometimes you just have to stop and you have to just reflect where God has bought you from and how God has bought you out and how God has delivered you because you begin to realize that if God didn't do it I wouldn't be here today God didn't step in see I don't know about you I grew up in the church I was raised in Apostolic Church but walked away from God but God in His mercy a man dispatch say man the spirit of the Living God to draw me back to the house of God I take it for granted God has moved me up to the ranks and where I am today goodness of God has done for me but God in His wisdom and to do somebody shout glory [Music] so God sometimes messes up what appears to be a good thing to create a right thing oh somebody ought to shout glory so God God and His wisdom years ago God had this thing set up God said I'm orchestrated you know we men we men put our hands and stuff and mess it up sometime but God in His wisdom steps back and he watches ours and he looks at us he said Lord look at them they don't know what they're doing they don't know how they're doing they think that door in my will brings up one that's going through something and you can go through Ongina oh somebody shout glory [Applause] we won things sometimes the way did we want I never forget we were planning the convention you know they said it wasn't going work how you gonna have prayer on a Monday morning at 8 a.m. and one of thousand people to come folk don't come to convention y'all don't come to Wednesday huh y'all know I'm telling the truth hey man so they said it won't worry how you gonna have communion on Monday night cuz I said we normally have communion on Thursday morning focus at their calendar and the time to come the convention for Thursday morning and then work but God told me he says it's gonna work he said you get him oh cool Shabbat I thank God you see the mistake that some of them made was forgetting that the prayer of the righteous man they forgot that if we enter into his courts with praise they forgot that if we go before God and prayer amen God is gone lord have mercy my oldest is 28 years old I need $200 to do so so where and I just give them a credit card number I said go ahead use your credit card number put it down and order what do you think about a god I just gonna give him that stuff hey man I talked him from the time that they were born a man before they were born in the mother's womb I would go and rub my daughter he loves baby a belly and I would say to him this is your puppy I am the head of this family when you come out of the wound you will hear my voice you must obey my voice shut I will never do anything to harm you or let no harm come upon you but if you do right oh you got a do is ask and everyone comes out from a child I tell them if I say something it's the law and sit down $300 I said well you got the card number don't you she said yeah until I ask you oh good god [Applause] so we had we had about 12 1500 people 8 a.m. in the morning walking around the off there praying we first started out remember Douglas nobody was coming in I was looking and I was walking I said Lord were they right don't look at what you see look at what you can't believe some walk in and I heard the Lord say he said listen I told you I got this thing I said Lord he said no no no but nothing I got this thing myself hush up now just give me some praise and I just start going off in prayer and mana for I know when folks start coming in they were coming in they were coming in and that's the word we got to the end of it the Lord said I told you I told you I got this thing I'm trying to tell somebody right now God did this my god God did this Oh y'all y'all need to hear me God fish and the gates of hell because God did this lord have mercy it got nothing to do with my brother that's going on with the Lord that's here now oh he has to do is be a faithful servant crying under God no criticize don't put you down but don't worry about it before you this one thing I shouldn't be where I'm at you don't know my story sir you know the things about so cool top that God walked me through hmm and I ain't telling you everything I'll tell everything y'all be looking at me real funny but God walked me through some stuff you see see the one thing that church folk do y'all know how to put on the church face y'all know how to put on the church praise we know how to praise God and why God does it I don't know even in our wrongdoing we still feel the anointing of God and we started speaking in tongues every once in a while but that to meet all y'all are straight I'm sorry no I ain't sorry I'm going home tomorrow and care less thank God you don't meet every one of us in here walking upright he some folk got some some malice in the heart some folk got some Envy in the heart some folk got some jealous here in the heart small y'all don't like this and don't like the other but you still come you got nowhere else to go no one else want you till you keep on coming over here right years young I was planning on being semi close to retirement cuz I appreciate that he's spoken to like poke in the pulpit and gotta be crazy ain't doing that my mind my wife said she gonna wait and see but she can tell you if she looked back in and check it out I've always had a plan every step of the way I had a plan in every few years I knew my plan ran for three years so I was planning on him being retired I was looking at Florida then face down in Orlando called the villages it's the largest retirement community they give you a go-kart if you don't want to drive your car they got everything on the out there that you need you got a gated community you can't get in unless your name is on the thing so I got worried about my kids coming down I don't want to become I got worried about my in-laws coming I don't want them to come I don't put your name down there you ain't coming in and then after you get in you can only stay a few days because all of us got some of them relatives that want to come in with us it looked like they coming to stake out four or five suitcases you're not don't you gonna be here for a couple days what you're doing yeah I mean I mean you need all them car clothes and then somebody just want to come and stay hey man I was planning on being there but God messed up my plan uh-uh I said if I don't go to Florida I gotta go somewhere I'm tired of the cold I'm New England I gotta go where the weather weather is worn I want to feel something warm I don't want him maybe if I can get just a home back in Connecticut so walking a little partner so I go and visit in the summertime and then go to Florida or somewhere down south in the wintertime and children relax and don't have to worry about it a man get me some soda sitting on the front porch and wonder who's coming down the road that was my vision y'all I had it in my mind I saw the house I saw the house in North Carolina I'm sitting on the porch and the driver was about almost a distance from here and I'm looking out there they driver wonder who trying to come see me now and we ain't got nobody comes in and God said no that's not where you're gonna be a I got to work for you to do I got something for you to do so my god is he got a mess up your plan see somebody in here God just messed up something that you were looking for but God said I messed it up cuz I got something oh there I see y'all I see you I see you I see ya you can hide if you want you but I see ya my god you might as well listen see ya you messed up my stuff he messed up my stuff I wanted this but God change it to that and didn't even give me that he gave me something else I don't understand it why god always mess up my plan because the know what to pray for as you pray so the Spirit of God got to come to you and speak to you cuz you ask him for stupid you worried about silver and gold and Gosselin I got something better than silver and gold mommy have our priest long enough I learned this also I can stand up here and preach for two hours I said do funerals all the time and when I did it I would preach for an hour and a half I'll be pushing sweating and then I feed him and then folk tell me what a great word we coming back ain't seen him yet so I learned I learned something now if I do a funeral now I tell him y'all got 15 minutes after 15 minutes I don't care what gear I'm in is going back down a neutral and then the park and we're leaving this bad boy I think cuz y'all gonna do what you won't do anyway some of y'all gonna leave the funeral I'm gonna go outside you're gonna start smoking some weed you're gonna pop a little bottle and drink you a little bit of something cuz you're trying to get over that or you're near crying and carrying on and acting up so you tell me I need something to calm my nerves and God's got everything that you need and you going to the wrong place you get the wrong stuff and somebody know what I'm talking about just shouting glory be love God did this God did it and Oh God needed was a man and a woman who will follow and the steps that he laid down before and accelerate it and take it to a higher plane take it to a greater level but but there's always a but and the butters be careful be careful don't let it go to your head don't get excited the beautiful edifice that you have don't get excited about the creativity but get excited about the Spirit of the Living God that's coming in the building see there's some there's some homeless folk out there let me tell you this I never forget it we had a lady always would come to the church and she would always come and she would come in hi and she would always be making noise and for some reason she liked me and so if I said to her now calm down daughter she calmed down okay she calmed down and one day she came in she was fired girlfriend was high as a kite and she was not you know she had an aroma about it at forgive me but you didn't want to be near she was making noise in the best of you my father said to me he said Landon go get in sit with her he said son go sit what I ain't sitting with a man and then he uses authority of what boy I said go sit with her and so reluctantly I was mad and I went over I said come on let's go in Turkey be quiet okay okay look don't miss out boys okay okay and I'm standing there in the back of the church about three-quarters way back I'm standing there next to her and a man she's took my right and I'm looking this way because I didn't want to and I didn't want to bother it I'm just like you know I'm gonna tell my father a little piece of my mind as I walk out the door when I go out at a house cuz I'm gonna stand in front of him and do that because if I did there was a right hand coming and so as I stood there the choir was singing mother was singing with the choir and a couple of the high Sopranos were singing in the choir and all of a sudden I heard this voice I heard this gorgeous high soprano voice I'm like who in the choir is notes I'm looking at my wife I said no look that sister Jeanette I said no look this Sister Carrie Allen said no who in the world is hitting them notes but totally she was I mean the girl was crooning she was rocking it all I didn't know where she was standing right next to me and God said look to your right and I looked at her I said look I don't know why I'm telling you all this but y'all figure it out later and I looked at her and it was her your girl was singing like I never heard nobody sing before and God says who do you think you are he said if I touch her mind y'all better hear me shabu-shabu shot I'll see what some of y'all don't know there's a drug addict a prostitute a wino a thug walking the street at Cleveland waiting for the car to come take your spot all you people that don't want to do nothing don't worry about the guy got somebody waiting to take your spot and just ain't come to that time yet God said if I touch your mind shell out sing you and you and anybody else up in here she'll now preach anybody up in here Oh shucks haha he said all I gotta do is just touch your mind who do you think you are here he's beginning to roll down my eyes and I said Lord forgive me Norma sudden she just burst out get out the way I gotta go now suddenly I'm like no no no no no no no stay she said no yeah the way I gotta go that's no pleasing with Barbara as a please Barbara stay she said no I said get out of my way she started getting loud and I said okay let me I better let her run I said please don't go she said I'm going and she turning she began to walk down the aisle he stopped and looked back at me and said but can I get a hug I didn't want to touch her twenty minutes ago I hope there were tears running down my cheeks and I'm begging her to stay and she just looked at me I've never seen that girl since then I don't know where that lady went to maybe it wasn't a real person maybe God set it up and sent an angel just to show me that God can do whatever that he wants to do when he I wish I wish see because somebody need to come off the high horse somebody to come back to reality and realize I know you're looking at your good guy pose today you look pretty and you get you're smelling good but all God's gotta do is just reach down and touch your mind you ain't wrapped that tight anyway no God just touch your mind a little bit ain't no telling what you might do see we all think we got it made but you can understand but for the grace of God I wish I had some real people out here in the audience that say but for the grace of God see I'm not ashamed to tell you if God didn't catch me and bring me back to the phone I don't know where I'd be but thanks be to God but God Almighty he picked me up he turned me around he planted my feet back on solid ground I can give him some pray now when somebody would stand up and give got a crazy praise in this house da ba ba ba ba [Music] now my motto by my side I had not have been for God singing for your precious love I had a glass of rum and coke in my left hand a cigarette in my right hand and I'm looking for somebody to dance wait and since again all of a sudden Jerry singing for your precious love there you go you see Zach like you ain't never experienced nothing you need to stop that's why the young fool looking at you like you stupid cuz they'd be like yeah please tell me anything right I'm out here catching hell and you act like you ain't never gone through nothing you must be done lost your mind but in the middle of that I heard the words oh the blood oh Jesus God is my witness I'm like oh no I ain't that high I know that I ain't that high and then her Jerry again and then I heard again oh the blood oh gee I shook my hand I said okay God come on man I ain't playing I ain't bothering you why you bothering me that's not told me if I'm gonna go to hell let me go to hell just leave me alone I never got a dance I couldn't get high anybody here was ever a drinker so you know after about that fourth shot you bout fired up you bet you I'm fired up and when you drink it you know my specialty was rum and coke Bacardi's light or either dark 86% proves at a minimum 90 proof was even better missed a little bit of kokand see see see that's what's wrong with you saying she sings act like you ain't never drank nuttin y'all better stop it you know you did some of y'all might I'm sorry let me not let me not go there let me not go there I couldn't get high I never had a dance and I felt like God had busted up my thing I drove a hundred and some odd miles to get high to hear Jerry Butler and to find me a woman and I'm standing over in the corner all by myself talking about older blood of Jesus I'm not come on God but you know what I'm so glad that God ignored my stupidity we love it if nothing else that you get from me get this from me be real just be real be authentic you know you ain't that safe so don't try to act like you super spiritual don't you to do those you that know that you need God to do something in your life I want you to come right down to the altar right now don't worry about anybody else mean about you being back slidden because that's our problem we think if we come down here folk gonna be looking at us funny look tell him look all you want to look I need God more in my life now somebody else that need more and more of God I need you to come down here if you're serious about my uncle shot ah God can do something God will do something God shall do something I believe God I trust him gone I know that he's an able God and young folk let me tell you young folk something listen but for the grace of God I once was young and now I'm old I've never seen the righteous forsaken nor the seed begging for bread don't you think that God don't know where yeah don't you think that God don't know your story and we can be hard on you we could be tough on you but you know what a hardness and toughness is because we love you and because we're concerned about you I told a bunch of drug dealers one day and I said how come I was so hard on him I said because I love you and I'm tired of seeing you guys kill yourself I'm tired of seeing you guys out here just selling drugs and going to jail and coming back in and out and not a mountain or nothing and then you want to come to church and want us to barrier I'm tired of that and so what I want to do is pray for you and every one of them stood near and prayed the gang broke up the ones selling no more drugs as I come to the development corpus was brought into play and not you got clean houses you got families that can walk up and down the street don't tell me what God can't do God can do whatever that he makes up his mind to do I need somebody stretch up your hand right up here towards this front hey God bye Massa Tom he's an evil God he's a healer he's a deliverer he's a keeper he's away maker he's a burden bear he's a joy giver he's a sustainer he's a provider he's everything you need him to be you
