well your hands thank you women fake it [Music] [Music] well that's my testimony Lord it's been real good to me look at somebody and tell them I can't take no credit the Lord has been real good to me oh yeah oh yeah take your seats get your Bibles and go with me the Hebrew the 11th chapter I will start at the 30th verse by faith the walls of Jericho fell down after they were encircled for seven days by faith the harlot Rahab did not perish with those who did not believe when she had received the spies with peace and what more shall I save for time would fail me to tell you of Gideon and Barak and Samson and Jeff the faith of David and Samuel and the prophets who through faith subdued kingdoms worked righteousness obtained promises stopped the mouths of lions quenched the violence of fire escaped the edge of the sword out of weakness were made strong became valiant in battle turned to flight the armies of the aliens women received their dead raised to life again others were tortured not accepting deliverance that they might obtain a better resurrection still others had trial of markings and scourging yes and of chains and imprisonment they were stoned they were sawn in two were tempted were slain with the sword they wondered about in sheepskins and goatskins being destitute afflicted tormented of whom the world was not worthy they wondered in desert and caves and mountains and dens and caves of the earth and all these having obtained a good testimony through faith did not receive the promise God having provided something better for us that they should not be made perfect apart from us again the 39th verse says and all these having obtained a good testimony through faith did not receive the promise i want to administer from this passage of scripture message entitled when a man's faith meets his fate when a man's face meets his fate it's interesting because being raised in a fate home I learned what faith was at a young age not just what we believe and what our doctrine and our lifestyles represent but what we understand God to be I'd like to take faith and divide it into three different applications to get a full picture of what faith is to me as a believer faith is first of all there's a Greek word called pista s' which is a man's persuasion it is really the measure that every one of us have the Bible says each for each man has been given the measure of faith that faith is the Bible and sometimes when we look at the word measure it's not measures its measure so God doesn't measure faith in us in different levels we all receive the same measure of faith when you get the Word of God you get all of God you get everything he believes and everything he desires all of his promises are in his word and so when you get faith the word pist us you get the measure but the second word that I use in faith element of faith is fish tail which is belief it is taking God's word and then you physically giving credit to it when you give credit to it that means you mentally embrace it as truth now this is where we see different results from faith because even though we all have the same measure to believe not everybody believes the same way therefore you get different results in different lives of people because belief then is determined by us what we get from God it's kind of like the man who came to Jesus the argument in the book of Mark where they were arguing in the ninth chapter and Jesus came in and he saw this commotion and this man comes up to him says took my son to your disciples they couldn't cast them out Jesus says o faithless generation he wasn't speaking the word faith as the word of God given but worth it when you research it it means really old unbelieving generation that's what Jesus is referring to and so Jesus says to the man if you can believe all these things are possible and the man responded to Jesus relating to his son he says I believe that where there is I have faith when you research it but he says help dine my unbelief or help my unbelieving yeah I have faith but there are some areas on I'm finding difficulty in believing and that's where you get different results in your life based on how you believe which takes me to my third application that I apply to faith which is hope hope in my definition is the desiring of a good thing with the expectation of gaining it so when I read God's Word I mentally embrace it and then I look forward to gaining what his word has promised me that's how we live the jest shall live by his faith we walk by faith and not by sight it goes without saying repetitiously but the scripture says that with you going to come to God you have to believe that he is and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek after him even in this text that I've chosen in the earlier verses we see a very familiar passage of Scripture in the eleventh chapter because what it does it records the patriarchs of faith who has gone before us who have declared the promise of God by manifestation and what I mean by that they have taken the word the promise and they have seen great measures the Bible says so then faith is the substance of things hoped for in the first verse the evidence of things not seen as a matter of fact the amplified bible said it is that it is that confirmation the title deed of things hoped for it says it's by it we understand that the worlds were framed by the Word of God and then it goes on and speaks to Abel it speaks to Enoch Noah and to all of those patriarchs who have gone on before us to encourage us in our walk of faith that you're not the first one to be in a place of conflict there are those who are now heralding you from heaven telling you you can make it that's what the twelve verse twelve chapter kind of refers to and says wherefore seeing we are still come to ask the with so great a cloud of witnesses let us lay aside every weight and sin which do so easily beset us and let us run with patience the race that's set before us looking unto Jesus the author and the finisher of our faith who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross despising and is now set down at the right hand of the throne of God you oh you know the word and so we minister from this text on often but the verses that I chose to minister from we rarely minister from these verses as a matter of fact the accomplishments that lead up to this verse these verses almost looks as if it's speaking of a different application of faith you have those who have done great works the Bible says here a time wouldn't the time would even allow him to speak of all the great works of Gideon and Baaraat and Samson and Jeff Thurber and David and Samuel the prophets and it talks about their righteousness and how they stopped Lions mouths and and how they quenched the violence of fire escaped the edge of the sword it speaks of all their great accomplishments and then it gets to a verse it says well there was still those who had markings and they were scourged and in Chains and in prisons they were stoned they were sawn in two and it goes on and it goes from bad to worse and even though they're in the same chapter of faith it would appear what they had faith for they didn't quite see it come to pass now that could be confusing to a believer if you're reading all of these great accomplishments and you get here and wonder well what happened well this introduces to us the other side of faith the side of faith that says I believe God even if I don't see everything I believe God for that's powerful I believe his word I believe what he promises I believe he keeps his word because I've come to the conclusion I've been saved I got saved when I was eight years old baptized in the Holy Ghost at eleven I've been preaching for over thirty years and I can say this with confidence and with no doubt in my heart that there are some things that I prayed for and God has done them just like I've asked but then there are some things that I've asked God for I'm still waiting for they have not happened and that's the side of faith that I want to address today that side that we can't attend to lean from and of course I put when a man's faith meets his fate and of course this is men's day but this message is really for the body of Christ itself because when you look at that word fate we rarely put the word fate and faith together as a matter of fact when you define the word fate it is the wheel or principle or determining calls by which things in general are believed to come to be as they are or the events to happen as they do now of course we don't put much stock in there but there's another word connected with fate which is the part of its definition which is destiny now of course we accept destiny a little better it falls a little better better on our faith pallet something to which a person or thing is destined wants to control his own destiny is a reference to the word destined a predetermined course or event often held to be an irresistible power or agency yet there is another word that is associated with fate and that word is inevitable I think we all can agree with the inevitable the it is incapable of being avoided or being evaded and so when you speak of faith you must understand with belief with the word to measure with hope there is yet an ability that when you believe it and don't see it when you hope for it it don't come to pass where does that leave you well let me just share this with you but my brothers and sisters faith does not always change reality hallelujah faith does not always change reality some things are inevitable look at somebody and tell them some things are inevitable reality the quality or state of being real a really then an entity or state of an affair the totality of a thing the event something that is neither derivative nor dependent but exists necess farily reality let's look at Jesus the Bible says in Isaiah 53 that he was wounded for our transgressions bruised for our iniquities the chastisement of our peace was upon him and with His stripes we are healed and so this was in the scriptures before Jesus came into the world God had already sent the law the law was unable to redeem man it gave men an understanding of what God was not pleased with yet it had no ability within itself to keep man from sinning and so God had to send a solution to sin which was Jesus for the Bible says for him who knew no sin became sin for us that we might become the righteousness of God and so while Jesus was putting all this human flesh getting on the train of mortality coming down through forty and two generations at the end of his beginning was Calvary when he was coming to save us there had to be a sacrifice he knew that he'd had to sacrifice his body and the closer he got to Calvary and the more he saw what he was destined for what was in his fate he goes into the garden and he plays prays this prayer father let this Cup be passed from me yeah it's not that he's doubting God's ability but he's knowing that there is no way he can avoid what he's about to go through if there's another way God let it be and when he realized that there was nothing else that this is why he left called me to come down here he declares nevertheless not my will but your will if this is what my future has for me then I will accept it as your will not that you want to see me suffer not that you want to see me bleed but if I don't bleed somebody's not gonna be safe so not my will and you got to understand there's more than you involved in you God has a hand I wish I had really the voice that I need to preach this word but God has a hand so Jesus does not teach us to avoid crosses he teaches us how to bear our cross oh they may not see it in our church but they sang it in the Baptist Church must Jesus bear this cross alone all the world go free and then they say no there is a cross for everyone and there is a cross for me look at your neighbor and tell them faith does not move your cross it helps ship and your cross you gotta understand that faith does not change reality people you have to understand that the second thing that I want you to understand is that faith does not always change your future hmm and that's a deepen right there but I'm gonna say it again it doesn't always change your future the Bible tells us in Ecclesiastes a very sobering scripture then we need to pay attention to because it lets you know that after you get through praying and after you get through fasting to everything there is a season huh that word season there is an appointed time to every purpose which is a proper time under heaven so to everything there is an appointed time and then for those who don't believe it it tells you there is a time to be born and a time to die a time to plant and a time to pluck up what is planted a time to kill a time to heal a time to break down a time to build up a time to weep a time to laugh a time the more the time to dance a time to cast away stones a time together any gold sword it includes all the things that God has set in time before you ever showed up and I'll get mad at me and don't think that I'm trying to say that you don't have faith to see God do some things because God is a faithful God now unto Him that's able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we could ask or think according to the power that worketh in us under him be glory in all the church throughout all ages world without him he's caught yesterday today and forever more but there's some things after you get through praying and after you get through fasting you need faith to go through what your prayer won't change it's inevitable this inevitable it's a part of life I can tell you this and I was impressed by it I used to watch Fred price periodically and he was walking around talking about I got faith my hair is not gonna gray I don't know the color it is now but I took his faith and I applied it to my head when I started getting older say the same thing you're not going gray and I'm looking at what I'm saying in the name of Jesus and I'm seeing what's happening in my hand and I'm seeing the more I prayed a greater I get so I realize that maybe I need to assist my prayer I went to Walgreens and just want to help my prayer now now when I get up off my knees and I still see great I can do something about it I just y'all y'all y'all just look at me funny in here you know this I don't want to get stuck there but just getting old the thing is I you know it's it's something to deal with man I take this disc an older thing ain't no joke huh I stand at the bottom of a stand now staircase friggin did I come down and do I need to go up ah this this this getting a man how you suggest you know I used to just go to bed and I got to get ready for bed now you ain't there yet you don't know what I'm talking about I used to just brush my teeth now I gotta take care of my teeth I could go on and on and on and I'm praying and I'm working out and I'm pushing up in everything I now I got a I don't just jump out the bed in the morning I kind of figured out which foot I'm gonna put out this bed first [Applause] I'm praying and fasting but there are some things that happens at an appointed time and we need to understand that as people of God we did understand it for couple reasons because sometimes we live in a world that isn't real we almost missed we almost take God and try to use him as a get out of jail card or or something that that did you know we I don't want I don't have a time we had a lady in our church who just quit her job and and stopped paying her house noting and she was just in her mind thinking that God was gonna send published at home Publishers Clearing House or her house I'm not making this up I'm not making this up and when they didn't come and they repossessed her house she got mad with God listen can I tell you something there are some things that God gives us the sins to do and then the faith to go through and that's the side I want to talk about you see faith doesn't always change your future and then faith does not always give you a free pass through life the same ecclesiastic writer who writes the third chapter he takes note to life he says this after a period of time of his observations and what he says is I've noticed or I have considered in the ninth chapter he looks at completely the wisest man that scripture records to be the wisest man Solomon looks at life and he says this for I consider all this in my heart so that I could declare it all I considered it all so I could speak to all of it and he says that the righteousness and the wise and the works are in their hands the hand of God people know neither love nor hatred by anything they see before them all things come alike to all he goes on and says one even happens to the righteous and the wicked to the good the clean and the unclean to him who sacrifices and mayhem who does not sacrifice is the good so is the sinner he who takes an oath and he who fears an oath this is not this is teaching you faith he goes on and tries to give you an insight as to how to go about life in a faithful manner he says to you in the seventh verse go eat your bread with joy and drink your wine with a merry heart for God has already accepted your works let your garment always be wondering other words live clean let your heart let your head let no oil don't put a lot of deadly stuff in your body oil represents healing so keep it right live joyful with the wife whom you love all the days of your vain life which he has given you under the Sun all your days of vanity for this is your portion in life and in the labor which you perform under the Sun whatever your hands find and do go on and do it with all of your might for there is no work or device nor knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you're going he says the race is not given to the Swift nor the battle to the strong nor bread to the wise nor riches to men of understanding nor favor to men of skill but time and chance happens to them all and so it does not give you a free pass through life what faith does is it does something for you as you go through life now watch this it doesn't just holiday it doesn't just and doesn't just get you a new car when you want a car but it shows you how to handle life when you walk him you understand yeah yeah let me let me help you let me help you my father my father is a southern man he's gonna be the Lord now he moved from down south yeah and my father didn't ever he never became a city guy he just brought all the country with him he he did things like he's always done them and I'm only saying this to kind of give you an idea of my father he pastored the church that I was at as a child he eventually came to the church when I started pastoring my father also worked a full-time job at the Milwaukee Road my father was a real country man we would come home from church and we also be hey I got six sisters and three brothers and all of them live in the City of Milwaukee all of them attend the church that I passed all the masane and we would come home we would come home from church and we had some uninvited guests in our house and we knew how to deal with them they love the dark they would come out at night as a matter of fact and when you turn the light on they would hurry and get out of the way you couldn't see them and so we come in late at night on a Sunday after church because you stay in church all day and we get ready to go in the kitchen mom would say now y'all get a shoot and we tweet am I making this up we always is it's because we have to exterminate these unwanted guests I don't know I don't have to call him by name maybe you do maybe you don't know who I'm talking about it doesn't matter at this point and we would go in there and when you turn the lights on we'd be we'd be a getting them out it we popping them used to be spreading my father he would even take the shoe off he just be popping with his hand I mean it was real country just now the second part of this message or this particular point I just want you to know about my daddy the sake of our this point is my daddy was different I was very tender-hearted I would cry at the drop of a hat just tender-hearted just didn't want to hurt nobody's feeling didn't want to be in no trouble I was very sensitive to animals we were going down south one year that's what you do when you live it north you go down south for vacation we were going down south and my daddy ran over a cat now when my father hit this cat something happened in me I just start crying I'll Cathie's was this cat got killed this cat was gone home there's look at babies my daddy kills his cat so when we got to though where we're going to have to take me to the hospital I was throwing up and everything yeah I'm telling the truth and so we lived on 26th and Brown we were poor we lived in the dew clicks we moved from there from the project's to this duplex and we lived in the upper level a single family home came available we were so happy so we just gathered up our things got our couch and moved as a matter of fact we moved from 2018 to 2020 we move right next door we didn't have to get a truck or nothing stay in the same neighborhood so a cat had run it ran up in our yard we had a white picket fence this is done Tsugaru the white picket fence a cat had got up in our yard my father wasn't through it was that Sunday this cat we had to go to church this cat wasn't bothering anybody by Monday when my dad got home from work that cat had gotten to our house now I don't know how the cat got in the house but the cat was in the house we thought we had a pet we were excited my father came home and he saw this cat who only wanted some love did wasn't bother nobody didn't scratch nothing just was in the house just looking for a little love looking for a little affection some food my daddy came in and he took that cat and put him in the palm of his hand and my father went out to the porch and he slung that cat from the porch to the middle of 26th Street I'm not making this up I was I wasn't shocked my father just slung the cat and I'm looking at my daddy and I'm looking at the cat but I'll start looking at the cat and while the cat was in the air while I was concerned about this cat this cat was contorting his body and he was turning in the air I'm seeing this with my eyes he's turning in the air and he's positioning himself while he's being tossed and when that cat at the middle of 26th Street I promise you he landed on all four paws yeah this is and that's what faith really does there's some things gonna be slung at you or some things you gonna be slung through that you can't do anything about but while you're in the air going through it fate will be positioning you and planning you so that when you land you will land and you'll say look why he brought me from I don't believe I got through that I'm stealing here that's what faith does slap somebody high five and tell them when your faith meets your fate hey we'll have you ready for it [Music] I'm coming home now five minutes I'll be finished if not six but you think that your righteousness is a barrier from life's calamities let me inform you today if living righteous would protect you from some of life's calamities then God would have to go back to the Old Testament and apologize to Jobe let me say that again if your righteousness was a bear came from some of lives unchallenging unfortunate circumstances then God would have to go back and apologize to Joe because when Satan was presenting himself with the sons of God in the book of Joel and God asked him what are you doing and he said he was going to and fro on the earth and walking back and forth in it and God said have you considered my servant Joe and then God began to read his resume he said that he was a blameless perfect an upright man one who feared God and shun evil job said well he doesn't serve you for naught but you have a hedge around can I tell you to Sunday School lesson you have a hedge around him but if you remove the head I'll make him curse you to your face and Lord said I remove the heads just don't touch his body not long after that a servant of Joel came running through the doors and told Joel bet your auxins were plowing and your donkeys were feeding and a hold behold a band of Sabena robbers came and they raided and took your donkeys and your auction who killed all of your servants and I alone escaped to tell you what just happened and while he was talking another servant busts through the door and said Joel your novel believe this but all your sheep were in the field and the fire from heaven came and burned up all of your sheep and killed all your servants and how long xscape to tell you what happened he was in the middle of his statement and then another servant came in and said sure why your camel without feeding he said a band of County and robbers divided into four groups came and took all of your camel kill all of your servants and I alone escaped to tell you about it and before he could finish another one came in the house and so job you won't believe this but all of your children were in your held his son's house and a wind came and blow down the four corners and fell on your sons and daughters and all of your children it did and I came to tell you about it and the Bible said that Juba got up and shave his head wring his clothes and he began to worship the Lord I wish I had a church in him that's what faith will do faith will kill you just like that I don't understand what's going on I can't explain what's happening to me but I know that God is still God and job said naked I came into the world I make it I shall return the Lord gave it and the Lord taketh away that should be the name of the Lord and in Joel's situation the second time when now that he has elephantitis and leprosy boils all over his body and his wife is telling him to curse God and die Joe Torre you speak as a foolish woman speaker shall we indeed accept good from God and shall we not accept adversity he's still God and all this job did not curse God take the good push it here but I got enough faith hang on when it's not going so good so as I prepare to stop I just want to take a poll in here is there anybody in here that's going through something right now well let me tell you how faith works faith says you're gonna get married and have a good marriage and have a house full of children but faith also said if you're holding a wife Olivia you're not gonna leave your mind faith says your children are gonna be saved but it also says if they don't say save you're not going backslide faith says I am healed but they also say if I don't get here he's still God and they're in love so keep your praise I can't explain it I don't understand it but that's all right God is still in control set three people have five and tell them I can't take it I can't take it yes I can [Music] let me testify let me testify my mother my mother is a woman of faith some of y'all don't even realize how much faith she had but let me try to help you I was struck by lightning and my mother all the way to the hospital have been dead for 45 minutes and on the way to the hospital the Holy Ghost told my mama when you get that look past what the doctor said and I'm gonna show you a miracle she got the maroon the doctors pulled back two curtains said I wasn't gonna live two hours and if I lived I'd be a complete vegetable she looked at those doctors and said no watch God work he's gonna bring my son out of that today she began to praise God and in eight hours God had taught turning it around my oldest son was born with cerebral palsy and the doctor said he wouldn't walk or talk before he was five years old 30% of his brain was dead had an enlarged esophagus I went to my mama we pray and my mother just begin encouraging me that God is still in control make a long story short Brandon is healed today he's my youth pastor's wife is pregnant with my third grandchild tested him said he had the mentality of a genius not only that some years ago cancer hid her body God healed her and hit her again God healed her and hit her again God healed her and hit her again God healed her and hit her again the sixth time it came the doctors read a chart crying gave her just some days to live cancer was all over a body in the last stage she came to church and took the mic and said the doctors think I'm gonna die but cancer can't kill me because cancer is in here but God is in here and God be funny well a year later as a matter of fact she was with me in the convocation last year and she's sung I'm our testimony a year later the doctors came back couldn't find a one cancer cell in her body a few months ago they called me and said you need to come to the hospital mom has pneumonia I went and saw her prayed for her she got out of intensive care I went on my preaching tour they called me in the middle of it in Texas so you need to come back Mama's not looking good I get on the plane don't preach fly straight home get in my porch drive 90 a hundred miles an hour trying to get to the hospital so I can pray before she died get then she had been dead 15 minutes my heart dropped I start to go into a depression and then my faith kicked in [Applause] [Music] [Applause] my fake click did my face say you won't be alright you had a 76 years now thank God for you gotta learn how to praise God when you don't get what you see because he's still God say stand to your feet up through I'm not saying he's not gonna do it cuz he's already done but he's God in the midst of all of it people of God hear me there's some things you can't stomp away from God cuz you don't get your way in you can't leave God cuz he didn't do what you thought he was gonna do for you you got a different set of circumstances now you want to question whether or not he's God fate has always been there faith in him being God and whatever God does this is fine with the faithful we completed what the Old Testament didn't see stand to your feet hallelujah I want to do this bishop I'm gonna give it to you in a second I want to do this every eye closed you're in here today and you're living a life of uncertainty but the problem with that life is that you don't have Jesus you have nothing to depend on when circumstances are not favorable you have nothing to depend on when you don't see your way out you have nowhere to go because you don't know the savior of the world Jesus is in control of every situation but he has to be an invited Savior into your heart he'll come in he'll control your emotions he'll control your mind he'll help you be have peace and you'll also work things out for you if you open doors that no man can open closed doors no man can close and he'll keep you in between the doors until he open them that's what he does every eye closed now listen be honest if you haven't received him in your heart if you know that you don't know Jesus as your personal Savior you have not invited him into your heart right where you are just raise your hand I want to see you just lift that hand I want to see who you are Bishop opportunity to receive a prayer from me come on lift that hand that's you that's it lift that hand I believe with all of my heart that something great is in your future but it can't happen if you don't have God in your life lift your hand if your hand is lifted I want to pray for you and then some of you who did not lift your hands but you know you're in that situation I want you to pray with me for the benefit of everybody I want you all to repeat this prayer with me say Lord Jesus I am eternally lost without you but you said in your word that if I confess you with my mouth and believe in my heart that you died for my sins and that God the Father raised you from the dead I would be saved so I invite you into my heart to be the Lord of my life save me Jesus and I thank you for saving me now if you raised your hand and you prayed that prayer or if you prayed that prayer for the first time or you prayed that prayer to restore your relationship we want to do something for you we want to
